A cool location on the edge of Lake Eustis. Our waiter was knowledgeable. My husband got fish reuben. He said it had good flavor except they burnt 1 side of the sandwich which of course was served with that side down. I got fried shrimp which I would not recommend. It didn't taste like fresh shrimp and was way over fried. We also got an order of onion rings which were tasty. My favorite thing was the garden salad with orange vinegarette. Had lunch at Fish Camp on Lake Eustis today... went by boat! And had the dogs so -- TWO PLUSES!! They have outdoor seating and allow boats and dogs... YAY! They were taking food pics and when they were done -gave us a complimentary appetizer of "fried pickles". I've never ordered and/or had this anywhere so I don't have the ability to compare. I like dill pickles and I like ranch dressing. The presentation was great and they were hot, crispy and battered. I know it's a popular app and I "think" this item (here) is probably a well prepared/presented one. Josh was our server - he was OUTSTANDING!! Greeted us almost as soon as we sat down... and was knowledgeable, attentive, friendly, and just all around great. We ordered the fish & chips. They came out as described... they were served with "crispy" fries, coleslaw and a lemon. You get two nice size pieces of cod. They're not too greasy considering it is fried... I'm not a fan of mayonnaise based coleslaw and this one is heavy on the mayo. (Just a personal preference.) We also ordered the Steakburger with fries. Unfortunately this is where the KITCHEN really missed the mark. When ordering we told Josh (clearly) medium and if he needed to request medium rare to ensure medium, we were ok with that. The first burger came out well done. YIKES! Sent it back... of course Josh apologized and brought the next burger out and AGAIN OVERCOOKED! Really? I will say the owner/manager took the burger off our bill and they were very gracious about it... and my date made the comment "maybe I shouldn't be ordering a burger at a fish joint?" Went for dinner on a Friday, not that crowded. We sat in the bar area. Ordered the fried shrimp and garlic Parmesan fries. I have ordered this before, but this time I received a bowl of greasy fries with clumps of what looked like Mayo, and 7 tiny fried shrimp on top. The amount of fries I received would of fed at least 2 people. When we questioned the serving size of fries and shrimp to the bartender our waiter, he said yes that's the way it comes, but I should of gotten coleslaw, so he brought it to me. We ordered the pork chop sandwich for my husband an were surprised that it is a bone-in chop. Of course his first bite was where the bone was! He enjoyed it nonetheless. He also had the clam chowder and said it was good I ordered the coconut shrimp special and I was surprised it came out as two "Pattie's". They were actually the shrimp skewed together and battered as one giant shrimp. They were also very tasty. My dinner came with 3 sides so I chose the kale Cesar which was way over dressed for me, the cheese grits and homemade blue cheese chips. This is our third time here and we moved into the area 10 days ago. The service each time beyond good. Servers like Heather and Summer just can't ask for more. My wife got their Monday special this time which was 2 perfectly fried soft shell crabs and $6 cheaper than normal she got a cup of New England Clam Chowder. Very flavorful. The lake behind the restaurant comes up to the outside patio deck where there are several tables. If you sit out there and look to the left, you have a busy street to look at. However, the rest of the view was good as it overlooked the lake. It was too hot to sit outside so we sat inside but still enjoyed the lake view. Indoors, it was very spacious, nice and cool. There is a full bar, booths and tables throughout. The food was really good here and everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. I ordered the fish and chips which comes with 2 sides. The standard sides are fries and coleslaw. I traded the coleslaw for loaded grits. Although the grits were ok, I wish I had stuck with the coleslaw based on my friend's comments that the coleslaw was very good. The fries had a nice crisp to them and were soft on the inside. We shared an appetizer of gator bites. They were very good. Crispy and tender, served with a tasty sriracha mayo dipping sauce. My friend was celebrating her birthday so they brought out a free dessert which we all shared of course. The waitress said there are usually 2 choices for the dessert but they only had one available when we were there. No complaints though. Went on a weekday afternoon after the lunch rush, a good time to go. Hostess was very friendly and had us seated quickly. Server was very cheerful and we enjoyed having her. My friend got the blackened mahi with a salad and swamp soup, which she liked. I got fried oysters and was blown away: easily the best I've ever had, ever! Hush puppies and an order of fried green tomatoes also excellent. Oysters were very fresh and battered from scratch and the tomatoes seemed to be homemade also. Plus the portion sizes were quite large; I took enough home for a big supper as well. Prices were very reasonable. The atmosphere was great and I enjoyed being able to see the water from the dining area. Overall, we had a great time, really enjoyed the food, and are planning to go back. My first time having grilled gator and I am pleasantly surprised. Very tender and juicy. The mahi was thin sliced and very tasty. Server was very courteous and attentive. I saw the ratings for this place and they were great but when we ate there, my wife and son were happy with their dinners but when I had the coconut shrimp, they were well overcooked, and I couldn't get them off the skewer without damaging them. The hush puppies were rubbery, but they're taste was great. We also had wings as an appetizer, and they were about the same as any other place. OK. I don't do many reviews, but I thought it was worth it. I met a date there around noon. I'm not from that area, had never been there, but from the pictures it looked to me like a cool tiki bar type place with a great lake view. It's not. The place is on a very busy major highway. The view? Maybe a 3 out of 10? Sat at the bar, was greeted by a couple friendly waitresses. The actual "bartender" showed up maybe 30 minutes later. The female bartender, who will remain nameless, was much more interested in talking about her life with the other employees than she was making sure the customers were taken care of. After sitting at the bar for a couple hours, we decided it was time to get a late lunch. We let the bartender know very clearly and she told us she'd be "right with us" about 4 times. Finally, we got up and went to an empty table in the bar area. She got rude about it, heard her talking "loudly" with other waitress about our moving. The waitress, forget her name, was awesome. Closed out our bar tab for us. Even though we were WAY underserved at the bar, I still gave a 30% tip. No hard feelings. Food was very good for what it was. We had fun. Definitely a dive bar. Some outdoor seating, but too hot for us so we stayed inside. All in all, it's no place to go out of your way for, but if you're waiting for an oil change and want to pop in for a beer and burger, not bad for that. The "waterfront" area needs a complete rehab.
