We stopped at Fish Camp yesterday after flying down to Florida to escape the snow for a couple of days, and it was exactly the kind of laid-back spot we were hoping for. I ordered the Saturday shrimp special, which lets you choose grilled, fried, or blackened shrimp and comes with coleslaw plus two additional sides. I went with the swamp soup and onion rings. The swamp soup is made with chicken broth, andouille sausage, black-eyed peas, and kale. It was a little on the salty side, but it still had really good flavor. The onion rings were crispy, golden, and downright delicious. For the shrimp, I chose grilled -- and if you're in Florida, why wouldn't you get shrimp? You get a half pound, grilled in garlic butter, and they were tender with great flavor. Easily the star of the meal. Our server was very friendly, and the decor felt like a classic fish camp -- casual, fun, and fitting for the setting. The view overlooking the lake was beautiful and made the whole experience even better. I'd definitely come back if and when I'm back in town. Solid food, great atmosphere, and a perfect Florida getaway meal.

We always love coming here. The service is fast and the view is amazing. We Loved the fried green tomatoes with sriracha aioli!

I am pleasantly surprised by this local restaurant. I've lived in the area for 6 years, and this is my first time trying it. We ordered wings, gator bites, a burger, and margaritas. Everything was good, seasoned well, and you can't beat the drink prices. I've been back twice within one month since my initial visit, especially for the wing specials, Service is always good, and the outside water view is a bonus.

Stopped today for lunch. First time here. I ordered the fish tacos with a side of hush puppies. The tacos were huge and hush puppies were very good. Tacos were very good and filling. I highly recommend both.

My wife and I visited Fish Camp with family while visiting from out of town. We easily got a reservation and were greeted warmly when we arrived. The staff was attentive, food was good, and we were happy with the overall experience. I'm posting a few pictures from the restaurant. Sorry that I forgot to take pictures of the food. We were all anxious to dig in when it was served and didn't think to pick up the camera.

So disappointed! On-line reviews raved about this place. So we drove the 25 minutes to the dockside restaurant to check it out. There were 4 of us. Our server, obviously overwhelmed with too many tables, finally got to us. She was friendly and smiled. But the rubber hits the road when the meals arrive. My table mate's grits were dry. Another dining pal gave his food a thumbs down. My $17 fish dinner was dry and overcooked. Thank heavens for my dipping sauce to partially save the day. A quick after-dinner survey yielded this response to the question: would you come here again? The universal answer: NO!

Awesome Florida Fish Camp. Had Mangrove Snapper, Hush Puppies and Slaw. All great and $22! Sat outside in late December which is nice!

Food was spot on and server/bartender was great. Our group had shrimp scampi, lobster roll and Snapper; all were delicious. We started with the coconut shrimp which has the most interesting presentation of this dish I've seen...the batter was delicious. In short, great meal and reasonable price.

Randomly found myself here Friday evening. It was a pretty full place and seemed to be popular amongst the locals. I love me some good ol' Florida food and the menu did not disappoint. The cocktail menu was creative, I was tempted to order the "Grand ol' osprey" or the "baby gator" just for the names. They also had a "drain the swamp platter" which included frog legs, catfish and gator. Not a combinations you can get just anywhere. The local salad was a bit underwhelming. It was just lettuce and 2 cherry tomatoes and some Parmesan cheese. My clams were great! I loved the sauce and the bread. I'd def try more stuff here and live the true Florida vibe!

I really wanted to love this place!…read more Myself, my mom and my grandma went here for the mad hatter themed pop up that's happening. When we arrived, there was one table left in the bar side, which had enough for 6 people. We asked if we could just grab that spot and the hostess had to go speak to the manager. She came back and informed us that we could not sit there, but instead in the adjacent restaurant (same menu) or the bar (my grandma is in a wheelchair), or wait but that it might be over an hour. Since we were a group of 3 we asked if we could split that table into 2 so we wouldn't use it all, additionally, we had driven over an hour for the pop up and really wanted to be in the themed area, but they insisted that they had to keep it open for any potential larger party that would come after us. My question is... couldn't that larger party that *might* come sit in the adjacent restaurant? We were after the lunch hour (around 2pm) and I get wanting to keep space, but this has literally never happened to me before anywhere I have been. Eventually, we were able to sit at that table (they didn't split it into 2, but we offered multiple times). No larger group came so there wasn't an issue with that... I mean it did all work out but the vibes were so weird and others should know the potential issues! We only got cocktails, and they were delicious! I loved the theming it was super cute and accurate! I think if I go back I would go alone so I could sit at the bar. There is plenty of parking available!

The Southern burger was great, but I tossed off the raw onions as I absolutely hate them, and added the lovely pickled onions from my wife's salad, which gave the perfect amount of flavor and color. Don't you agree? Give me a LIKE if you do !!! The crepe was next level. Delicate crepe, very soft ripe bananas, sauce was not disgustingly sugary, and the vanilla ice cream was smooth and soft, not icy and sweet. Dunno what brand they use, or if they churn the cream fresh in-house, but it made my day.

There are lots of delightful restaurants there (according to yelpers) but many were located downtown and parking was hard to find so we decided to go to Fifth Avenue Streatery since we had driven by and there was lots of parking. All of which the tables are outside on a charming patio with lots of interesting decor. It was 11:30 so the day was pleasant and sitting outside was fine. Not sure how I would feel about that in August. Our waitress was Haley (guessing at the spelling) and she was bubbly and very attentive. The menu wasn't overwhelming and I always think that's a good sign that most of the food is being prepared fresh and not pulled from a freezer. My mom ordered the fish sandwich with tomato and cucumber salad. After ordering the Italian Haley said they were out of beef until the owner arrived so I went for the day's special which was a seafood basket: two pieces of fried fish, four huge shrimp and clam strips. Clam strips are not my favorite but these were very crisp and tasty. It was served with fries and cold slaw. We both agreed the food was very good. I asked for some cocktail sauce and after a few minutes she came back with saying she had to make some. It was fantastic, very horseradish forward which I loved. I am glad we couldn't locate our first two choices since we got to eat at this funky little place and have the best server in all of Mt. Dora.

Appreciate that extra touch. What We Ordered: ~ Dockside Scallops (Appetizer): cooked beautifully, and paired with a sauce that complimented the scallops. Loved the citrus for acidity, while having the sweet chili for some spice. I can see this being delicious with rice and a vegetable for an entree, which they also offer. ~ The Big Cheese Burger (sub Cheddar versus American Cheese): Very delicious and a great price point for $15! When I returned, I had a water and the bar menu as well as the lunch menu waiting for me. I ended up getting the Crooked Can/Frog and Monkey collaboration IPA, which was lovely. I ordered the turkey and brie sandwich, because reading it on the menu outside was what had originally drawn me into the restaurant, and a cup of the French Onion soup rather than getting the fries that came with. The soup was up first, and it was delightful- nice, hardy chunks of onion without being too big/sliding off my spoon, a well developed broth, and a fantastic amount of cheese. The sandwich was lovely, great slices of turkey and decently sized pieces of brie and apple to go along with it. Unfortunately, when I went to get the second half of my sandwich, I noticed what looked like a dark beard hair on it.... as I was dining alone, and my long hair was tied up, definitely not mine. I called over my server, and I pointed it out to her... she asked if I wanted to have a new sammie or get it taken off the bill. I asked if I could pay for the soup, since I had finished it, but not the sammie and she absolutely agreed to that. I wrapped up my meal and left to keep going on my day.
