This restaurant is located on the lake and has nice views. The wait for a table of four was short. Our waiter did his best to serve us. The sides were better than the main courses. The Brussel sprout slaw was unique in that it's shreaded with a light soy dressing that doesn't overpower the vegetable. The bacon and cheese grits were my favorite. It was a little crock of creamy, cheesy goodness with bits of real bacon. Everyone else liked their sweet potato fries. They were crispy with salt, brown sugar and cinnamon. The blackened shrimp were cold and lacked flavor the Cod fish was really cold. They heated up a second time but it really didn't work. The pan seared salmon seemed to be the best entree. I tried it and thought it was good but nothing special. I didn't like that we were seated close to the lobster machine. It's a game like getting a stuffed animal. You put $2.00 in the machine and if you catch one, they cook it for you. It was uncomfortable eating while that was going on. First time for us, late lunch early dinner, Friday fish special, we decided to split a dinner, she never told us they would charge us, to much food for us, four pieces of fish and lots of fries and slaw. The fish was definitely overcooked, and fries were crispy, not my favorite. The waitress and staff very friendly, but should have told us about sharing, good service though. We decided to have their clam chowder, must have been gold in that chowder, $10.00 a bowl. It was nothing to write home about says my husband. We went here (45 min ride) because the reviews were great. The place over all could use a refresh. While it was 10 years in business it looks old and dated. The appetizers were really good. I had the fried pickles, my husband had the steamed clams and my son had gator bites. We enjoyed all of those. Entrees not so much. I had the seafood trio. Grilled shrimp, grilled mahi mahi and a crab cake. The shrimp were good but the crab cake didnt taste fresh and the mahi mahi was flavorless. We were seated immediately and the waitress Christina was extremely attentive, accommodating, and friendly. Everything on the menu sounded great and they also have a great drink menu. We settled on having wahoo dip, wings, kids chicken nuggets, burger, seafood trios, prickly pear margarita, and a rum runner. The appetizers were excellent, as well as the drinks and the kids chicken nuggets (which seemed to be hand cut nuggets). However the actual food was not that great. The burger was salty to the point where it burned your tongue, the crab cakes on the seafood trio were burnt, and the catfish was mushy. The clam chowder soup was great and so were the desserts. Although the food wasn't that great; this place is nice, it's right on the water, and the service definitely made up for it. Maybe they were having a bad night. The waitress was very nice but came back to say they couldn't make what I ordered. She brought our drinks & said the appetizer would be out shortly. She took our food orders (party of 5). We were meeting people we hadn't seen in a while so we enjoyed catching up & visiting. We were there an hour and still no food! A little while later some servers from the kitchen brought our orders. However, we never got our appetizer. Some of the food was also missing. When I asked about the appetizer, they said they could still bring it if we wanted. No thank you! I've never had a bad meal. The fish is flaky and cooked to perfection. The kale salad is fresh and covered in shredded cheese. The service is excellent, friendly and quick. I think the wide dispersion of reviews speaks to many different "types" of diners eating here, both in terms of their budget and they types of food they eat. So as you read reviews, I think you have to try and see which you are most like. For me, I probably consider myself more of a foodie with a slight preference of quality over quantity. Pros: * Outdoor seating is plentiful. Sunset can be a nice time although to be fair the harbor is full of trash and debris and sunken items and detracts. * Our service was actually 5 stars. One of best servers for a group of 10 I've ever had. * Fish is well cooked and tastes fresh. * Onion Ring tower for $8 is really tasty and fun. * Blackend fish reuben for $14 was legit good/great. Cons: * Almost every app we had (and we tried 8 of them) was just okay. * Oysters on half shell were decent at best. * The brussel sprout appetizer was the WORST brussel sprout dish I have had in my entire life. I order brussel sprouts at almost EVERY restaurant around the country, and was flabergasted at how terrible this dish was. It's like they boil them, shred them, and just dump half a bottle of soy sauce on it. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE, and I'm not joking. * Shrimp scampi linguini. Not only overpriced with the number of shrimp, but our teen boys wouldn't even finish it. How do you screw up that dish and get 15 year old boys not to finish a plate of pasta? Look, I'm torn on this review because I think the prices are very fair, in general. The food just isn't that good, but if you are going to eat here, I would skip almost every appetizer and either get a fish sandwhich (fries weren't bad, but not terrific either), or get the "Fresh Special Catch" grilled/blackened/fried fish dish option with 2 sides (recommend the house salad which was fairly large and good). Those are the two best things on the whole menu, and our party tried almost everything. If you are not a foodie and just want low to fairly priced fried comfort food that tastes okay but not great, then this is the place for you. read more

The cajun sauce was delicious, but not enough to counter some very dry grits. Shrimp and grits are almost always my go to everywhere. And there was a good amount of shrimp.
