Went here while I was visiting NYC and in the area. The place was packed and I didn't get to sit at the table, but the bar area was nice and I was by myself. The meal came with free shrimp chips. The coconut curry was wayyyyy too spicy and it did not come with any vegetables. It felt a little underwhelming and did not have a lot of meat. It felt like it was just curry sauce, but as a soup. The marinated raw crab was tasty, but I wish it came with rice or something. The cocktail Melon e melon was tasty; very different than any type of cocktail I ever had.
Portion sizes are quite small considering the price! I think the black ink calamari was very good but sadly very very small considering the price. It had a super nuanced flavor though and was a really interesting bite each time. Its salty, then umami, then creamy. Very gorgeous presentation.
Fish Cheeks in NoHo is my go-to destination for high-end, innovative Thai food in New York City. The restaurant takes a decidedly contemporary approach to Thai cuisine, with a menu that highlights bold regional flavors rather than the familiar, standardized dishes found at many American Thai restaurants. The happy hour menu is excellent, and the cocktail program is equally creative. On my most recent visit, I tried the Nam Gin Martini--unusual, beautifully balanced, and delicious. If you're dining solo, I recommend sitting at the bar, where the talented bartenders are happy to offer excellent mixology advice. There are several dishes I especially recommend. The Zabb Wings are crispy fried chicken wings tossed in a spicy, tangy dry rub of toasted rice powder, chili, lime, and mint. They're intensely flavorful and highly addictive. The Steamed Whole Fish is another standout: a whole branzino swimming in a vibrant, intensely aromatic broth of fresh chili, lime, mint, garlic, and culantro. The pork belly with chili and garlic is another dish worth ordering if you're looking for something rich, spicy, and deeply savory. Fish Cheeks was founded in 2016 by Thai immigrants--brothers Chef Ohm and Chat Suansilphong, along with Jenn Saesue and Pranwalai Kittirattanawiwat. The restaurant was born from their frustration with the homogenized "one-page" menus that dominated American Thai dining, which often centered on sweeter, standardized dishes such as Pad Thai and Massaman curry. Even the name reflects the restaurant's philosophy. The fish cheek is considered one of the most tender, flavorful, and prized parts of the fish in many Asian culinary traditions. When Fish Cheeks opened at 55 Bond Street, the team famously adopted a strict "no Pad Thai" policy, encouraging diners to explore regional Thai specialties and seafood dishes such as crab curries and whole steamed fish. It was a bold gamble that paid off, earning critical acclaim, including recognition from The New York Times. In 2022, Executive Chef Dustin Everett, formerly of Momofuku Ssam Bar and Pig & Khao, took over the kitchen, introducing seasonal dishes while preserving many of the restaurant's signature favorites. The restaurant is popular, especially during peak dining hours, so reservations are highly recommended. Sitting at the bar for a cocktail and a few dishes or settling in for a full meal with friends, I always find Fish Cheeks to be one of my favorite places in NoHo for adventurous, sophisticated Thai food.
Finally got to try fish cheeks after having it on my want to try list for too long, and it did not disappoint! The flavor of everything was amazing especially the manila clams with sweet basil. Unfortunately, the clams did have some sand though, and they were a bit small. We also tried the coconut crab curry, and the flavor was soooo delicious. I really liked the spicy kick. It is salty alone, so make sure to get a side of jasmine rice :) The prawn karee surprised me the most. It was sooo good. The prawns were huge and tasty, and this is saying a lot because it was a rare occasion where I enjoyed prawns!! (They're usually not worth peeling...). I liked how they added egg and onion in their sauce, and the sauce was actually divine. Not too salty, yet not too bland, quite perfect. It wasn't busy on a Wednesday around lunch time :) Cute interior and seating inside!
Overall: 5 stars Saw an unbeatable Uber Eats promo that was BOGO Pad See Ew so of course I had to try. Pad See Ew - Comes off very well with the essence of the wok and all the correct flavorings of sweet soy and fixins of chinese broccoli. There is a subtle spiciness that persists and intensifies likely from an abundance of pepper powder, which makes theirs distinct. Came here for restaurant week and was super excited to try some of the popular menu items... - Calamari, (4/5): was lightly fried, and there was a sweet sauce drizzled on top which was not my favorite, and made it a bit less crispy - Zabb Wings, (4/5): the dusting on this chicken was really nice, but it was on the dry side. it reminded me of salt and pepper wings - Crispy Pork Belly with Garlic and Chilli, (4/5): very generous portion size! I took it with my back home. while it was def crispy, as defined by its name, it 100% needed sauce to bring more juice in - Red Snapper, (4/5): it was very nicely seasoned and fried, but once again, a tad bit in the dry side. Not spicy at all despite the intimidatingly large amount of chilies, and is good with rice - Pandan Ice cream with Sticky Rice, (4.3/5): pretty satisfying not too sweet dessert- I wasn't sure what it was exactly, but the chewy mochi bits were really delicious I definitely think I had some expectations coming in from all these reviews which were not met, and was surprised by how many fried options the menu had. I think the experience would've been elevated if the dishes weren't too too dry.
I came here for lunch with my dad on a Monday afternoon. Since we came during happy hour, we decided to share a dozen oysters. They were served with fried garlic and a nam jim jaew sauce. While the oysters were a bit small, they tasted fresh and sweet. We also ordered the pork cheeks and the coconut crab curry. Both dishes were delicious. The curry was SPICY. Service was great and there is outdoor seating, too! I would come back in a heartbeat.
Came in for lunch at 12:30pm on a weekday reservation, there was no wait time for us but we did notice a line forming by the end of our meal. We shared the Steamed Branzino and Coconut Crab Curry with an additional rice bowl between 3 people, and it was enough to fill us for lunch. The steamed branzino's fish sauce, lime, and spice flavor combination was perfect and the texture was so soft. The coconut crab curry was amazing too, it wasn't fishy or heavy as some curries can be. All of this with rice rounded out the meal. I'm still thinking about it days later - I would definitely come back and try the other dishes!
It's shameful it's taken me so long to eat at Fish Cheeks. Thai is one of my favorite cuisines, and Fish Cheeks is one of those restaurants that reminds you why. I'd be pressed to find better Thai food in Thailand. As the name implies, this menu is seafood centric with a few pork options. We ordered the pork jowls, larb, mussels, crab fried rice, crab glass noodles, crab curry (sorry, we love crab). Larb, so good. Loved the crispy pork and sausage with cabbage wrap. The bbqed mussels had incredible flavor with a tasty curry dipping sauce. Jowl was tender, fatty, with a fresh fish sauce. Crab fried rice, excellent. Crab curry, very tasty. Crab glass noodles, sooooo good - must order! Overall Fish Cheeks is everything and more. I can see why this restaurant has remained so popular since opening years ago. Five stars!
What an incredible Thai experience. This was our first time and definitely cannot wait to go back. The service was amazing and the dishes we ordered were like none other. The crab noodles were amazing alongside the pork salad we had. We cannot wait to try their other items!
Great spot for seafood forward Thai food. Came here on a Sunday for lunch with a reservation - they open at 12p so everyone was already waiting outside for doors to open. People were seated quickly with a few walk ins waiting outside but the space is big. We got the wings, coconut crab curry, crab fried rice, and whiting fish summer seasonal item. Everything comes out when it's ready and is shared family style. The wings were crispy and zesty, curry had a good kick to it although a small serving and the crab fried rice was delicious. The fish was also very fresh. Highly recommend this spot!
Came here during their dinner service and thought that it was great. They have both indoor and outdoor seating and the space is pretty contemporary with inspiration from the sea and ocean. Although the host was a bit rude, our server, Griffin, was absolutely amazing and the sweetest. Their menu draws inspiration from lots of seafood and has fewer options in comparison to many other Thai spots in the city. We got their crispy rice salad with pork and their coconut crab curry to share. I would say that they do not hold back on their spice here. Plenty of flavors and so fresh. Portions are a bit on the smaller side, and it's definitely a bit on the pricier side. Although it was nice to try and pretty good, I think there are other Thai spots in the city that I prefer.
Popular place with a very strong menu! We got what seemed like their most praised dishes ( steamed fish and crab curry) and were very happy with how punchy and flavorful they were. I will say their oysters were on the smaller and brinier side but still tasty. Drinks were also great! The atmosphere is more casual than I expected in a good way. Service was wonderful, they watched and paced our dishes well. They have a new happy hour which I NEED to be come back for.
Absolutely the best meal I had in NY in my five day trip! My entire family enjoyed the variety of dishes. The crispy pork belly garlic rice was me and my sister's favorite, with perfect savory flavors and crunch. The steamed fish with Thai spices is a must have and my mom's favorite dish, tender and with all the bones removed for each of eating. The aged beef krapao was my dad's favorite--with a perfect balance of basil and Thai chili. The ice cream sticky rice at the end of the meal was a sweet cherry on top, with the wonderful coconut milk flavors and chewy sticky rice. Honorable mention goes to the zabb wings with spicy and savory seasoning, as well as the delicious Thai iced tea. Altogether, I'd recommend fish cheeks to all of my friends! The service was impeccable and the decor was so cute with the fish scale patterns on the counter, as well as the outside patio portion. read more

Definitely get the CRISPY RICE SALAD appetizer. I could've eaten 3 of these. For mains we got the coconut crab curry (very good, thought the portion was a bit small, not that spicy if the 3 chilli peppers scared you) and the 30 day aged beef krapow which was just okay. Ambiance was nice outside, service a little slow but overall a good experience. read more
Normally, places that have such a cult following fall flat for me, but fish cheeks exceeded my expectations! The flavors, the presentation, the service.. everything was 100%. We sat outside on a nice day which wasn't the best idea since the street is cobblestone and the table & chairs were super wobbly. But putting that aside, we had a great meal and are already talking about going back. The steamed fish in Thai herbs is a must and the squid ink calamari is cool twist on a classic dish. I'm not sure what their reservation policy is but we came as a walk in on a Sunday and only had to wait 10 min even though it seemed packed. Do yourself a favor and go here! read more
This is some of the best Thai food I've ever had! Great vibes, fast service, and amazing food. Made a reservation easily online. Just make sure to do it at least 1-2 weeks in advance if you want a prime dinner time (lunch seemed to have more open spots available). Even then, we saw some people walk in for dinner and wait 15-20 minutes which isn't bad. We tried three dishes: 1. Coconut crab curry - There were so many large chunks of real crab! Could not believe it. Very worth and the curry had a nice depth of flavor. Came with rice. 2. Choo chee scallop - Whole scallop pieces in a curry paste. This was also delicious, and the curry paste tasted different from the crab curry which was nice. Had a bit of a spicy kick which I loved. Came with rice. 3. Steamed fish with thai herbs - This is a whole branzino that they have de-boned!! Always appreciate a restaurant that is thoughtful enough to de-bone the fish already. Very fresh and the cilantro lime broth was excellent. Reminded me of my mom's cooking which is always a plus. Service was friendly and very fast. It was packed in there but they seem to be very efficient at turning around tables (however we never felt rushed!). Wish I lived closer to go here often. Quite an interesting Thai fusion place that specializes in seafood and family style dining. Happy hour is every day 12-5pm, where their specialty cocktails are $13 instead of $19, and oysters are $22 a dozen. I'd strongly make reservations for dinner, as it gets crowded, but it was only half-full during the afternoon, so daytime walk-ins seem to be okay. It's ludicrously pricey ($30-40 per entree), but if you hear me out, I think it's worth the cost. The food is absolutely exceptional, and I don't think you'd ever find something like this elsewhere. The Crispy Rice Salad and Pork was incredible! Bursts of powerful, intense flavors (my wife calls it a "flavor bomb", which describes it perfectly); use the cabbage to make wraps. The Coconut Crab Curry is heaven, especially if you like spicy. It's creamy and warm, and meshes magically with the rice. The Fried Fish and Garden Salad is milder, a medley of citrus, savory, and sweet. It's also well fried/deboned, so you don't need to pick out the bones. For dessert, I ordered the No Pad Thai Zone cocktail. It's good if you like tamarind and tangy, but wasn't for me. I did enjoy the coconut cream that it came with though. My only regret here is not having enough room in my stomach for their coconut pandan ice cream, which I'm trying the next time I come here. Staff is very friendly, but many have accents, so for me personally, it's slightly challenging to understand them. The restaurant is Blackbird accessible too. Overall, Fish Cheeks is worth the hype. I'd go back again (on payday though). If I ever win the lottery, I'll be back here everyday. read more
Fish Cheeks is an amazing place to dine for family style Thai food with a focus on seafood. The ambiance is fun with colorful chairs and simple decor and the service is good. We ordered the Zabb Wings ($18) free range chicken wings fried with chili, lime, fried makrut lime leaf; Green Curry ($23) Thai basil, red finger chili, roasted seasonal vegetables served with rice; 30 Days Dry Aged Beef Kaprow ($35) - minced ribeye wok stir fried with holy basil, garlic, cili, and fried duck egg; and the star of the night: Steamed Fish with Thai Herbs ($40) - Branzino, chili, lime, cilantro in a cilantro lime broth. The fish was so flavorful, but beware you might have garlic breath after! Everything was so good I would definitely want to dine here again - we were lucky to get a spot as a walk in, but it might be better to make a reservation ahead of time as it is a popular spot. read more

Wow what a meal! I started with 1/2 dozen oysters and the nam Jim sauce is ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I can drink it it's so good. For my main I had the coconut crab curry with jasmine rice. There was so much delicate chunks of crab. Soooo yummy with many layers of flavor. I ended my meal with mango sticky rice and again so flavorful. The staff was so warm and sweet. My friend had been raving about this place and that we had to try it. So a few of us finally got to try it together. Like the name of the restaurant suggests most of the menu is seafood. So if that's not your thing this restaurant may not be the best choice although there was a chicken dish on the menu and also wings for an appetizer. One of my friends did get the chicken said it was delicious. I got the fried fish which was really good. I would like to come back to tried other dishes as I was torn on what to pick. They also are participating in restaurant week. read more

Easily one of my new favorite Thai spots in the city, located in the heart of NoHo -- they have a seafood-forward menu (as you can probably guess from the name) with tons of unique dishes. The staff is super attentive and great at making recommendations based on dietary restrictions. I'd recommend eating family-style, totally coming back! Every single thing we ordered was a hit. The Oysters are so yummy -- the sauce is super unique. The Scallop and Crab curries are FIRE, highly recommend getting. The Crispy Rice Salad is great too, but note that they're strict about modifications. read more
Simply incredible. The steamed fish is a must-try ~ Market Oysters, Crispy Pork Belly with Chili Garlic, and Coconut Crab Curry were absolutely insanely good. Every dish was packed with bold, authentic flavors that truly honor Southeast Asian cuisine. As a Lao/Viet patron, I was pleasantly surprised and genuinely joyful to experience dishes that tasted like home-cooked food, just a little ways from home. This place does an amazing job of staying true to traditional flavors, and I can't wait to come back for more. I'm head over heels for Fish Cheeks! We managed to snag a reservation on a Saturday night and had a fantastic experience. Fish Cheeks is the whole package: awesome food, great service, and cool ambiance. Like many on Yelp, we ordered the pork cheeks, steamed fish, and coconut crab curry. All exceeded expectations with their multilayered, fresh flavors and high quality ingredients. I was most surprised by the melt-in-your-mouth pork cheeks and accompanying sauce. The portion was generous and a great way to start the meal. My favorite of the entrees was the steamed fish, but the crab curry was also outstanding. Expect the kick that the three chili peppers on the menu imply - but there is a ton of flavor in addition to the heat. That said, we ordered the coconut N/A cocktail midway through dinner, which (despite a topping of shaved chilies) did a good job in offsetting the spiciness. Service here was excellent, friendly and attentive, and the vibe was great. Despite being packed, it wasn't very loud. And while not inexpensive, I thought the prices were reasonable for the quality of the food. It's 100% on my short list of places for a return visit. read more

First time at this establishment - the food was top notch and the service was fantastic (shout out to Joshua)! We got two rounds of the Melon and lychee cocktails (forgot the names), the pork belly (100/10), crab fried rice (100/10) and the steamed fish (100/10), plus the sticky rice dessert. 10/10/10 would recommend!! Fish Cheeks has been on my list for a year and I finally got to try it out! We visited Fish Cheeks for my cousin's birthday and it was such a great choice! From the service to the ambiance to the food - everything was amazing! We started off with drinks and appetizers. The spicy mango margaritas were delicious but could have used a tad bit more spice. The corn salad was simple yet tasty and refreshing. And the chicken wings... I'm not sure how what they put in and on them but they are like crack (which I have never tried but I imagine it's like these wings lol). For our entrees, we always do family style so that we can try a number of options. We kicked it off with the 30 days Dry Aged Beef Kaprow and I didn't think any of the other choices could be anymore delicious. But then the Choo Chee Scallops arrived and I was blown away. Lastly, the Coconut Crab Curry came out and there were chunks of crab and hella flavor! They only had one dessert which was an ice cream and we weren't really into the description so we went to Kith instead. Needless to say, we cannot wait to dine at Fish Cheeks again! read more
If you like shots I highly recommend the Ya Dong Party shots. The street liquor is interesting but my favorite part is the pandan ice tea chaser that comes with the shot. They were so much fun. You can also get the pandan ice tea on its own as well. We came here with a group of four and ordered many dishes to try. - Zabb Wings - Somtum Corn Salad - Grilled Cuttlefish - Rawaaeng duck curry - Crab Aob Woonseng - Steamed fish with Thai herbs - Pork dish (can't remember if it was the pork belly or pork cheeks) While all the dishes were delicious, none of them actually stood out as much for me. Maybe it's because I had such high expectations because of the great reviews and recommendations from friends. My favorite dish was the crab aob woonseng because I liked the subtle umami flavor of the glass noodles in the steel pot. It's also the dish that tastes a bit different from the others. A lot of the dishes were served with similar spicy sauce (which I'm not a big fan of) as well as this acidic lime-y flavor. I felt the flavor profile from the overall dishes felt flat and similar. The duck curry was underwhelming, definitely not the best I've had. For the price, I was definitely disappointed by the taste and quality of the food. Overall we still had a great time here with great ambiance! If you want to give this place a try definitely make reservations beforehand. read more

My friend and I both graduated from NYU together in the field of Social Work and decided to meet up as a congratulations lunch and I was going to meet with her to help her study for the ASWB exam. She chose the restaurant Fish Cheeks and I was really excited to try it. When I got to the restaurant, I wasn't aware that we needed to make a reservation in order to get a table. Luckily a table was open for two people and we were able to be seated despite how busy it was. I ordered the green curry which was vegan and included Thai basil, red finger chili, roasted seasonal vegetables, and served with rice. My friend ordered the coconut crab curry which has three chili peppers next to it on the menu and includes southern-style curry with crab meat, house-made curry paste, betel leaf, makrut lime leaf, and also served with rice. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was casual, but also classy. Our food came out relatively quickly and the person who was serving us was very informative and answered all of our questions. I really enjoyed my time at Fish Cheeks and it's the perfect place to eat amazing food and catch up with a friend. read more

Used to be awesome, get it delivered all the time. Ordered the prawn karee today and sadly they have replaced the whole prawns with these sad shrimp. Sad to see the quality of the ingredients going down. Everything in the world seems to be getting enshittified and this place is one of them. read more

Fish cheeks must go visit at least once. Their blue crab curry dish is outstanding and a must do. perfect balance of spicy seasoning not too over powering. creamy deliciousness if i go back ill opt not to share and just get this as my main it's that good. Corn is light and refreshing nice veggie side lol. We also got the duck curry and steamed fish it was ok I wouldn't get again. Crab fried rice another must do. Busy restaurant spacious; the service is slow the table for 2 could be bigger but it's fine overall. read more
Had a good lunch here at Fish Cheeks -- the duck curry, prawn karee, and crab fried rice were very authentic, delicious and flavorful. Definitely have to make a reservation since they get really full on the weekends. The service was great as well with food arriving within 10 minutes of ordering, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The space was a little bit tight and loud but that's okay. :) I also personally felt that the prices were a little higher than other Thai places around the neighborhood. Had a great time at Fish Cheeks! I've been meaning to come to this Resturant in a while since I saw it on social media. I was seated immediately for my 1:30pm appointment. The Thai Iced Tea is a classic and was delicious. The Zabb wings were spicy, sour, and a little sweet. For someone like me who is very sensitive to spice, I found this actually pretty spicy and had my eyes watering, so be forewarned! If you're very spice tolerant, then I think this would be the perfect amount of spice for you, if not spicy enough. They do not do any modifications so I could not ask them to lower the spice level. The steamed fish was also advertised as mildly spicy, but it did not taste spicy at all. It was wonderfully seasoned with a lot of herbs and lime, salty, and with a nice tangy soup. I also got the crab fried rice, which I heard taste great with the crab curry but I couldn't handle that spice or that much food. Regardless, it was delicious on its own or with the steamed fish. To be honest, I'm not that interested in trying the other items after I found out that you can't adjust the spice level. I'd probably not return, but that's only because I have terrible spice tolerance - not because it wasn't good! Service was excellent and food came out very quickly. My friend and I came here for dinner because of their gluten free menu, but more importantly we want to try this restaurant. We were greeted with complimentary gluten free shrimp chips with a spicy chili jam. These were addicting. We started off with the tongue cheek mocktail and cocktail versions. Both were tasty and paired well with the following dishes: Special Tom Yum Soup - this was off the menu special item of that day. The spicy sour soup was comforting and filled with a variety of shellfish: Squid, shrimp, Mussels and fish. Too bad this is not a regular item on their menu. Crab Fried Rice - this dish is solid definitely worth ordering as quality and quantity is on par with Manhattan prices. I even took some leftovers home which my parents ended up consuming. Steamed Fish with Thai herbs - this dish is served hot; the branzino is filleted as it fell off the bone. The cilantro lime broth was very good even comparable to the ones I've had in other Thai restaurants in Queens. We devoured everything except the head and brought that home for the Asian parents to consume. Service was great. Our server was knowledgeable. The dishes are served family style so solo dining is not ideal. Ambiance was smaller than I thought, there is a small instep to get to the bathroom. However, great place worth trying especially for restaurant week or even a small group lunch or dinner. read more
We had a great waiter, Joshua, who guide us through the menu. Since I don't eat meat, I ended up eating Tofu Pad with red chili peppers with green beans and it was delicious! I was concerned because I don't eat shellfish or anything on the menu but this place doesn't disappoint. Must go! read more

Yummy spot!! We had a rez for 12 on a sat and it was filling up as soon as it opened. The crab fried rice, crab curry, morning glory, all very satisfactory. We were 2 and finished everything- altho we were def full im ngl its like wild for us to go to a thai spot, order 3 things, and not have left overs (in other words, the portions r on the smaller side) More spacious inside than i would expect from this type of place. Eavesdropped on two tech bros next to us giving pep talks on how to be good managers/leaders. Want to come back and try the vegan stuff read more
Super delicious Thai food! I tried the following items: 1) green curry, 2) crab fried rice, 3) pakboong fai dang (morning glory vegetable w/ chili, garlic + soybean). I loved the crab fried rice & pakboong fai dang (morning glory vegs) - superb! It was so flavorful. I would reorder these items next time. The green curry (vegan) was very interesting. The green curry sauce was delicious + had a nice spice kick to it. There were so many farmers market vegetables in it - some were a bit hard to chew but it was definitely very crunchy. First off, please be aware that you will not be seated if your whole party has not arrived. Even at 5:30pm, the restaurant is hopping, full of people. The dishes are all served family style. If you are partaking in the restaurant week menu, the whole table must participate. Puffy chips with an interesting dipping paste were placed on the table after we ordered. Always a nice touch to have a snack before the meal starts. My friend and I chose the calamari, wings, branzino, and pork belly from the 3 course restaurant week dinner menu priced at $60. The calamari and pork belly had such amazing crunch and phenomenal flavors. The sprinkling of sugar on the chicken wings was distracting as it was not dissolved, and not needed in the dry brine. The branzino was very flavorful but had a mushy texture. The entrees are served with jasmin rice. Beware that their dishes are quite spicy and pack an aromatic punch. If you are averse to big flavors, it is advisable to eat elsewhere. The meal was rounded out by the most amazing dessert of luscious pandan ice cream with jackfruit and sticky coconut rice in a rich crème anglaise sauce. I didn't want to share! Service is friendly and attentive throughout. Dan was our waiter who was very knowledgeable about the menu and forthcoming with offering suggestions, answering questions and managing expectations. Fish Cheeks is one of those places I always recommend to my friends if they're craving Thai food. It's always a hustling and bustling spot, and the food hits every single time. For those that are spice lovers, Fish Cheeks is for you, they don't mess around! If your spice tolerance isn't good, BE WARNED!! My partner and I arrived at 7PM on a Monday. No matter what day it is, I highly recommend making a reservation! We were pretty hungry so we thought we ordered a lot, but we ended up finishing everything. The duck curry wasn't bad, but the portions were a bit on the smaller side, so I probably wouldn't get this again. The steamed fish is one of my favorites. If you're not a fan of sour things, this probably isn't for you. It's very lime heavy, but I LOVE it. The sautéed cabbage was so yummy and had the perfect amount of smokiness and char, but also a bit expensive for the small portion of cabbage. The crab fried rice is also a staple! Lots of crab chunks and a good dish to share. Fish Cheeks overall is a great spot for a family style dinner. It's not your typical Thai spot, and it's a go to of mine. We (family of 4 including an 8 and 9yo) LOVE this place (both locations). Like LOVE LOVE .... Food reliably amazing. Service so nice - 1st time no rezzy crowded midday and they sat us immediately. 2nd time we had a reservation and they made sure to put us in a place with room - bcz kids. Squid ink calamari supreme. The steamed whole fish - so bomb. The steamed baggage wrapped about the crab fried rice was the best new combo of our second visit. Don't come here asking for less spicy etc. come and enjoy it exactly how they meant it or don't come. The kids handle the heat, which was minimal in my opinion - but you get it. read more

This restaurant was recommended by a lot of people and I had to try this place! My friend from Japan who lived in Thailand was visiting, she definitely approved for authenticity of all of the flavors in their food! This place was a 10 out of 10 for my entire family. It was the best experience ever. This place is packed in for a good reason their food is packed with flavor and honestly such a memorable experience The staff is super friendly and very welcoming explaining the menu and making sure you're comfortable with what you're ordering. It is authentic Thai food so it's not going to be your typical pad Thai kind of place. Everything that was served was absolutely delicious and blasting with flavor. The wings have this scrumptious rub on them that just leaves you wanting more. We got a curry lamb dish that was to die for the curry was so divine. My mom absolutely loved it and then we also got a whole fish and that was so tender juicy and so fresh in line at the same time. This place also has a gluten-free menu so if you have celiac, that's something to flag. My mom has celiac, and they were very gracious with her allergy, making sure that everything we ordered did not have gluten in it or whatever she was eating did not have gluten in it. Solid spot for Thai style seafood. The main highlight was the steamed fish with Thai herbs, very delicious and surprised that it was completely boneless. Loved the Thai herbs sauce made it paired really well. Oysters, crab fried rice, coconut curry, shrimp in 3 crab sauce was all good. I did order the $10 coco bah drink. In my opinion, it was nothing impressive. It was pretty pricey considering how small the glass was and half of it was ice. Overall service was fast and workers were nice. read more

1.5 hours max... not really a lingering type of place. It will take that long to get a drink & your food
Is it realistic to eat outside in their dinning shed in January?
Greetings! Our outdoor seating is heated and covered, and we are able to provide blankets as needed. However, it all depends on the weather and temperature outdoors. Most days are quite comfortable in the outdoor booths.
Is the bar on a first come basis or reservations required?
Greetings. Bar seating is first come. However, if you are interested in bar seating as a reservation, you can include it in your notes and we will do our best to accommodate that request.

When we were there over the winter, there was covered seating against the facade plus also a covered structure along the sidewalk.

First time i went was on a Saturday. It was packed. Reservations were made upon arrival.
Why are reservations only possible on the weekends and not the weekdays on Resy?

They don't take reservations by phone but keep an eye out about two weeks out for them. They have indoor and outdoor dining. Outdoor dining has heaters and indoor dining is at 25% capacity with dividers between diners. All in all, felt safe eating…
Do they have alot of vegetarian options?
Yes, I recall they had a Vegetable Green curry that is made with eggplants and cauliflower.
Is there long wait time without rsvp?
Yes the wait time can be significant. The restaurant is fairly small so tables get taken fast. The food is delicious and well worth the wait if you have time. But i highly highly recommend making a reservation.
Do they have high chair?
I have never encountered babies or children under 2 in my 3 visits. Maybe because some things to eat are slightly spicy
