Fish district is a great seafood option for food that gets done fast. This location in the Carlsbad Gateway shopping center was very clean, service was courteous, and all items tasted great. I ordered the Shrimp Po' Boy sandwich with a side of battered fries and a pint of Japanese lager. The Po' Boy was great. The shrimp was crunchy, but soft inside, and the Sriracha mayo provide just the right amount of kick. We were very pleased with our visit here are certainly will be back for more.

Update: Still good, great food! I really miss the outdoor tables, it was so nice to sit and enjoy the meal. Now there's no seating besides a bar type outdoor area, which makes it harder to come unless it's takeout since it's busy inside. I was also sad to see the lemonade go, it was a favorite and a highlight for me. Now it's just bottled drinks. Customer service could be a bit better, but the food is what makes this place amazing. Shout out to the chefs! They're the reason I'll always come back!

Great food. Fresh off the boat fish. Has wine. Indoor seating. Staff is friendly. Located in Bressi Ranch.

First time here and I enjoyed the food so much! The gentleman placing our order was polite and patient. I got the salmon and kale bowl which tasted healthy and delicious. The kale was seasoned well. If you like onions, then you will like this bowl. My husband got the combo box. It came with fries, fried fish and shrimps. He loved that it came with 3 types of sauces: cocktail, thousand island and tartar sauce. We were full and satisfied with our dinner.

We loved all the food here. Made fresh, fast and with friendly customer service. We were the only ones eating in house at the time, but this store had a steady stream of to-go orders. Decor was a soothing modern coastal, dining areas and restrooms were very clean. A spectacular sunset outside added to the ambiance. Started off with the excellent New England clam chowder ($7) that had lots of clams, medium thickness, not too salty. Next up calamari fritti ($12) which was light and crispy, not rubbery at all. My mom and sister ordered wild ahi tuna plates ($17.50) and I got the battered Alaskan cod with fries ($14.50.) Praise to the cook for making our fish exactly right! The tuna was seared & tender and my cod was hot, flaky and not greasy. One of the sides was a sesame cabbage salad that I could've eaten a bucket of, it was so delicious. Their fries had that nice extra crunch and seasoned perfectly. The young man helping us recommended the wasabi aioli dip which turned out to be my favorite. Fish District is a solid choice for high quality, non fancy seafood that won't break the bank compared to the other resturants in the Carlsbad/Oceanside area. We will be back!

It's been growing on me as a nice healthy option near Bressi Ranch. It's been around for many years and needs more recognition as a decent neighborhood eatery. I think it's not top of mind because the seating is fairly limited- I'd recommend having no more than 5 people in your party at the most. There are only about 6 tables inside and three outside. I do enjoy the flexibility to order different styles of fish. I usually get a salmon plate with a grilled filet with greens and veggies. I'd love to see them doing some kind of wine happy hour- it would be great to sit outside on the bar with a glass of wine and small bites.

Food is very good. Restaurant is clean. Came here to dine in one afternoon. The place was quite busy with lots of takeout orders. There's several tables for dining in. Ordered a clam chowder and the seared ahi bowl. The clam chowder was amazing, loaded with clams and the flavor was on point, nice broth not too salty. The bowl was good but a bit plain, would have been nice to have some additional ingredients like corn or black beans to add to the flavor. The ahi bowl just had lettuce and rice. Overall nice experience. Parking can be challenging depending on the day due to the popularity of Bressi Ranch.

This place sells their "normal" lobster roll for $30 each. I know prices on everything have gone through the roof (thanks, Iran War) but that is a lot of money. I have no complaints whatsoever about the roll. For the "normal" roll (that's what they call it), there was plenty of lobster and it was great. The toasted buttered bread is especially delicious. But for the price....$30 is basically the cost of a meal at a sit-down restaurant. So you always have to balance quality, quantity, and price. Incidentally, on the menu, there is no reference to "Maine" versus "Connecticut" style rolls. (My understanding is that the lobster in a Maine roll is cold and is dressed with mayo while the Connecticut lobster is served warm and is more buttery.) The video screen above the counter to this place mentions you can order it either way. The menu should also say this but whatever, this is just an FYI. If you don't specify a style, you will get the more popular Maine roll. I saw a number of people getting lobster rolls so apparently others are willing to spring the big bucks for this dish. It is delicious but you decide if it is worth it for you.

Ordered the Small Boston White Clam Chowder ($6.99), 3 Piece Fish & Chips with fries ($21.99), and the Sea Bass Plate ($25.99) which came with two sides - opted for Spanish rice and black beans. The clam chowder was just okay and nothing particularly special. The sea bass with garlic butter was a little bland and definitely needed some hot sauce or tartar sauce for extra flavor. The Spanish rice also tasted like it had been sitting out for a while and was a little dry. I did appreciate that the black beans came topped with some cheese and were served in a little tostada bowl - a nice touch. The fish and chips were hands down the best thing we ordered. The fish had a super crispy batter and the fries were crispy as well. Definitely the standout of the meal. Pelly's is located in a shared plaza with Ralphs, so there are plenty of parking spaces available. Both indoor and outdoor seating and it's a counter-service setup where you order at the counter and they'll bring the food out to your table.

BROCCOLI. and after taking one bite, i learned that broccoli could, in fact, be life changing. suddenly i was a new woman. a woman who wanted nothing more than to sit there and stuff her face with massive amounts of broccoli. unfortunately, i couldn't because we still had dishes to taste. and so i moved on to the pork belly. when people describe something as "melting in your mouth," they are specifically referring to Campfire's pork belly. because that's exactly what it did. just melted all up in my mouth and lit my taste buds on fire. normally, i find pork belly prepared this way a little heavy and can only stomach a few bites, but i could have eaten the entire dish. but of course i didn't, because i'm a lady. and the octopus was about to show up. and show up it DID. i don't like celery, and this dish had plenty of it, but because it was shaved super thin, it was actually super palatable. the octopus was incredibly tender, and there were little bits of chorizo throughout that gave it the perfect balance. also, love me a good chimichurri sauce. and finally, last but truly not least, the chicken. a whole ass half bird, charred to perfection with roasted red pepper, kumquat, and fennel. apparently i like fennel now??? i didn't even know i liked fennel like that, but here we are. if i hadn't already been stuffed to the absolute brim, i could have destroyed this entire dish. the chicken was juicy and tender, and paired with the fennel, you're almost like just having a healthy dish??? LOL. although we went in with every intention of ending the night with s'mores, our bodies simply said no. there was no more room at the inn. see what i did there :P so instead, we left and went on a very long walk to digest all the delicious goodness that was Campfire. i cannot wait to go back. mostly for the broccoli, which is a sentence i never thought i'd write in my life. and this time, i will absolutely be making a reservation.
