Got a bowl of New England Clam Chowder and the Crunch Fish & Shrimp Plate. The soup was creamy with a good amount of clams. Could have used a little less salt. The fish and shrimp were cooked perfectly. Both were crunchy and non greasy. The shrimp was tasty. The fish was moist. I chose potato salad and coleslaw for my sides. The potato salad was seasoned well. The coleslaw was crunchy but cold have used less sugar. There were dining tables available at both ends of the store. Service was very friendly and prompt. There were limited spaces in their parking lot and there was also street parking.

I have been coming to Fish King since I was a kid and love it more every year! This time I got the Salmon Burrito which is one of the most nutritious items on the menu. My other favorites include the fried shrimp tacos and bread bowl clam chowder. The staff here are the best and the owners have a historical relationship with the community. Stay cool and support Fish King!

Poke Bowl - Hawaii Style Tuna Poke

I've tried a handful of poke spots in SoCal and Fish King is ranked number 1 for me at this moment. The prices are reasonable for about $17 for a poke bowl. You choose whichever poke flavor you want and it includes white rice, a scoop of seaweed salad and a scoop of krab salad. It's regular white rice, not seasoned sushi rice. I chose the Hawaii style tuna poke and as someone born and raised in Oahu, I approve! Well seasoned and the fish is cut/cubed perfectly. They have free parking. The store is pretty big. All the way to the left is pre-made sushi/grab & go meals. There is seating to enjoy your food inside. The middle of the store is to purchase seafood and/or poke by the pound. All the way to the right is their kitchen where you order poke bowls/soups/rice bowls/tacos etc. You can dine in or takeout. Staff was really sweet and courteous.

We are still big fans of the Fish King. Because we do not live close by, we don't get there as often as we'd like but do make a point to stop by if we are going to be in the general area. We take a cooler with us and are always able to get a bag of ice upon request. Since my last review, the selection of items has remained consistent. We particularly love the fresh fish, the shellfish, and the poultry. There is a great selection of Asian staples, along with a decent wine selection. There is a private parking lot but do know that at certain times of the day, it gets filled up. We were most recently there during lunch time and got in just before the rush. When we left, there were a lot of cars waiting for a space. The service is great. On our last visit, Kiwi helped us. We were getting fish, shrimp, poke, and chicken breasts. He was very friendly and very helpful. I always ask to have the full chicken breasts cut in half and get a couple to be able to freeze. When I got home, I saw that he'd butchered them perfectly. We have been coming to Fish King for probably close to 30 years now. There's no better seafood market that I know of in the area.

The poke bowl I got was good. A bit pricey but I think when you get poke you already know what you're getting into. Compared to other places I've gone to, it was a bit pricey for the amount and lack of options and toppings. It had great flavor, though. This was my first time going (I went on Monday before heading to school) and they had plenty of other fish items to choose from. Maybe not my first choice for poke (unless I had a craving, since this is superrr close to where I live!) but I'd come back to try other things. Notable mentions: good parking in a lot right next to the building, they have the best ice for their drinks, and the service was very quick (although there is a sign asking for patience since it's being made on the spot).

Quick and straightforward service, got the scallop and cali tuna poke. You can get it in set container sizes, or get it in a bowl (which came on bed of rice, imitation crab, and seaweed salad). I got wonton chips to eat with, and everything was delicious! The stores cut in half, fresh fish on one side, Hawaiian-style entrees on the other - will come back to try more on their menu!

If ever there were a more perfect fishmonger in this area, I have not found it. Fish King has been my go-to spot for seafood and poultry for years. Their selection of fresh seafood is impressive. When I go there, I know that I am getting the freshest seafood available. If it's not fresh, they won't carry it. And they are more than happy to prep your order as needed, whether deboning and filleting a fish, slicing sushi-grade fish for sashimi, or shelling oysters, they are the best. And their selection of poké is unbelievable, all freshly made and ready to go. As far as poultry, my favorite is their original teriyaki chicken skewers. They are always excellent and easy to prepare. In addition to the fresh seafood and poultry, they have a great selection of wines by the bottle, a sushi counter and a small cafe that can grill or fry and of their fish. During lunch time, the cafe is always packed with lunch goers. They also have a nice pantry of dry goods, including everything you need to make fresh sushi at home as well as bottles of sauces, boxes of pasta, and packets of seasonings. And they also have a freezer section and refrigerated section filled with goodies, some quite hard to find in Los Angeles. There are alwaysIf an ample number of staff behind the counter, no matter how busy they are. On my recent visit, there were 12 in front of me, yet I was in and out of there in about 15 minutes. They also take orders online an d offer catering as well. you need fresh seafood, this place should be on your "must try" list. You can't go wrong!!

Good poke bowls $17 bucks for this bowl. I got the scallops & ahi. Overall felt full after and satisfied.

Fried fish and shrimp, ahi tuna poke, clam chowder
    Tiffany L.

I think this might be some of the best fried seafood I've had! They fried it in a way where the batter isn't greasy or soggy where it takes away from the taste and texture of the seafood itself. It was crispy and crunchy, and I think they used panko bread crumbs, which also made it flaky. We got the fried fish and shrimp, and it only comes with one fish, but it was substantial. I got the ahi tuna poke too and I thought this was alright. Though they gave a generous serving of fish, the flavor was just okay. I think it could have used more soy sauce or sesame oil. They also messed up our order on this - they mistakenly gave us octopus poke but they were very quick to correct this once we let them know. The clam chowder was also substantial. I've had a lot of clam chowders where the chunks are mostly potatoes, but this one had a good amount of chewy fish chunks. It wasn't too salty nor overly creamy as well. I'd definitely get this again! Unfortunately, there's not a lot of seats to meet demand. We went when there was a good amount of people but we didn't get to sit until about a minute before our order came out.

Fish King lives up to the hype. My go to for fresh poke and seafood to cook. Their poke bowls are loaded with fresh poke and quality ingredients. I like the take a ticket service, which I don't see too often in LA. Clean market, excellent seafood.

One of our favorite places to go when we're in Glendale. Their poke is always excellent, as is their selection of fresh fish. The dine-in options feel a little hit or miss (I didn't love their fish tacos) but I'd highly recommend purchasing fish to cook at home. It can be a bit busy on the weekends but we went around lunch on a weekday and it was much less crowded.

This is an all-in-one seafood food shop with fresh fish, live lobster tank, poke, and made to order (fried, grilled fish, chowder, poke, sushi, platters) and grab and go foods. Lots of staff who are attentive and helpful. Ordered: "Crunch" fish - made to order, large piece, tasted great. Poke bowl - spicy tuna tasty (too much onion for my liking); salmon poke fresh, delicious and tasty. Cucumber salad - perfectly vinegar seasoned; fresh and crunchy. Great lunch spot with some indoor seating. Can be crowded, be prepared. Can't wait to go back and try other dishes - fish and chips, grilled fish plates

One employee was focused whilst cleaning a batch of fresh shrimp and putting it in the cold storage display along with the other fresh seafood; nicely laid out, waiting for the public order. I don't eat shrimp, but the way he tenderly deveined them made them look mighty special. I may have been tempted to order just one; but I kept my discipline. Now of course, if we get hungry enough we'll just about anything do I'll keep that in mind when I return to the Pasadena Fish Market. After doing a little business I was ready to order; oxtails, beans and rice, cabbage, plantain; oh the food was delicious. The oxtails were appealing to the eye and meaty; my tastebuds jumped for joy as they were bathed in the savory mix of Jamaican herbs and spices, and tender? Yummy Yes!! I never wanted to eat the beans and rice because of previous restaurant experiences; dry, flavorless beans that just sat in their plate looking at me, knowing they would never again be invited to visit my palate! But, I thought I'd take a chance today and order beans and rice, a dish that I've shunned for years. Today was my lucky day, accompanied by bells and whistles; I was totally taken aback by what I was tasting. Talk about a moist, scrumptious, flavorful creation of a menagerie of flavors; I must say, those were the best rice and beans I've ever eaten, I would order that dish à la carte. I could see myself eating with my fingers and lapping up the sauce, Oooh, I've never had beans and rice taste so good; they were amazing!! Now the cabbage. Although it was tasty, In my humble opinion, it did not compliment the savory flavors of the oxtails and beans and rice; it was missing that gusto that my tastebuds was partying with. But the tender plantain saved the day with its rich golden color and fine, delicious taste. To bring my experience to an appreciative circle, service was given with a smile; the employee service was awesome, pleasant, patient, kind and human oriented!! If I could give 10 stars I would, minus a half star for the cabbage. I purchased a fish dinner too, I'll let you know how it tastes at a later date!
