I was really craving some seafood lately and I knew my son and I were going to be in the Glendale area today for a taping of The Price is Right. I looked around and found this place on Yelp. We had never heard of it, so I thought we should give it a try. I'm so glad we did! Also, what a catchy name. We walked in around 5:40pm on a Tuesday and the place was completely empty. We were greeted by Alex who was the main star of the evening. He was so kind, gentle, soft spoken and honest. Truly a great employee who cares about his job and customers! The same goes for Angelo, who also waited on us, brought out our food and anything else we needed, like extra lemon wedges and hot sauce. The service was truly superb in every way! They both checked on us several times. Now for the food. Everything was simply delicious and fresh. The prices were appropriate for the portions and we both throughly enjoyed our food. I got their Surf and Turf with Ribeye and Grilled Jumbo Shrimp (3pc). For my sides, I added on Caesar Salad and Jambalaya Rice (comes with sausage, chicken, and shrimp). Each side was $2.35 extra. Although it was all tasty and properly made, I'm not going to order ribeye steak anymore from now on. It's always too fatty for my taste, and it's not the restaurant's fault. It's just how the meat is. My son got their Grilled Salmon plate and chose White Rice and Sautéed Veggies as his sides. He was very happy with his dish and didn't leave any crumbs on his plate. He said everything was seasoned properly and the veggies were cooked perfectly/very flavorful. This place is such a hidden gem in Glendale. In all my years of coming to this city, I can't believe I've never noticed it. They have great food with great service in a clean, comfy and homey environment. More people started to show up for dinner time and the vibes got even better. The blues music they were playing really hit the mark and made a great addition to the experience. In my opinion, the big TVs they have are unnecessary. (This isn't a sports bar). They have a BIG parking lot and one bathroom for each gender. I visited Crab Avenue with a friend. Since we visited on a weekday afternoon, there weren't other customers at the time. We had their Chef's Special medium spicy, good for two. The shrimps that came with it were all shell-off, and it was like Jambalaya without the rice. The carb substitute was instead garlic bread - toasty - but a tad too charred, and five pieces for two. The Chef's Special was good, but if this is a signature, it definitely felt lacking. There was a modest amount of shrimp amongst a bed of veggies. I ordered their pasta Jambalaya with shrimp. I ordered it through Instacart. When it arrived, my order was wrong. Instead of it being topped with shrimp, it was topped with chicken, which was very dry and flavorless. The seasoning on the pasta wasn't very good and the pasta was tough and dry. I was completely shocked by how bad the dish was! I have been to the restaurant in person a few times and have never been disappointed. The restaurant was very pleasant and the service was great! Horrible service! And the place is filthy! No one greeted us when we walked in- they saw us and ignored us at first. And to make matters worse I believe our server was racist. He was so rude to us, He practically yelled at my husband when he asked a simple question about an item on their menu. And we had to wait a long time for him to come back to our table when we needed the check and to ask for some to go containers. I could hear the service he gave to the couple behind us and he was polite, and kind even cracking jokes with them- definitely not the service we received! We ordered plenty of food but the crab was super disappointing. The flavor was good- we got the medium mix, but they only had snow crab (no king) and a bunch of the legs were half empty and had no meat in them. Im giving them 2 stars because their Cajun seasoning was good, but aside from that we will never go back to this place. Spent $180 on dinner here and upon leaving stopped so my daughter could use the restroom and saw one of the toilets was flooded and had poop floating in it. One of the lights went out so instead of replacing it they plugged in a light below the counter (which didnt help-the restroom was still dark) and one of their sinks faucets had tape wrapped all around it and was unusable. The lack of cleanliness was appalling. If I saw the restrooms on our way in to the restaurant we totally would have went elsewhere. When walking back to the parking lot saw inside the kitchen and it didnt look orderly or clean. We will never go back to this place.
