Came here with a friend right after seeing the Supergirl movie, as it's conveniently located right across the street from the Americana. As soon as we arrived, we were greeted by the very friendly staff, who took us to a table. The restaurant is so clean and bright with gorgeous decor and the comfiest seating. The service was so prompt and our server was fantastic at answering any questions we had. I inquired about the vegan options, as the menu didn't specify which items were. The waiter was so knowledgeable and vividly described all of the options to me, saying which ones did not have any fish sauce or egg. I ended up ordering the Green Goddess sushi roll and the Agedashi Tofu. The tofu was brought out first and it was so delectable. It was coated in a lovely batter and fried and the sauce was just the right amount of tangy with the slightest sweetness. The Green Goddess sushi was equally amazing and beautifully presented on a leaf. It was true to its name and was very green with some lovely avocado, cucumber and asparagus. It was even topped with jalapeño to give it some added spice and add even more crispiness to it! The servers were on it, bringing us more ginger and wasabi as needed and consistently checking on us to ensure we were satisfied with our meals. My friend really enjoyed his fish sushi as well. Was at the Americana the other night and feeling like sushi, so decided to walk across the street and try out Seabutter. Started out with the beef gyozo, scallop with uni and wagyu with uni. The gyozos were your basic gyozos, you know what you're going to get with them. The scallop with uni was decent, feel it lacked a missing flavor profile that was needed. The wagyu with uni, on the other hand, was really tasty. We also got the salmon collar, which was pretty big in size, and had a decent amount of meat on it. But it was your standard salmon. For rolls, we got the Mr. Crab and Miss. Crab. The Miss Crab has blue crab and avocado topped with seared scallop, masago, kewpie mayo, sesame seeds. It was decent but really felt like something was missing with it. The Mr. Crab has crab mix, shrimp tempura & baked freshwater lobster in soy paper topped with eel sauce. This was more flavorful and would be the one I recommend among the two. Overall, decent sushi spot that didn't necessarily stand out amongst the items we ordered. I would recommend the Mr. Crab and A5 wagyu with uni, but you can skip on the other items. read more

At first when we walked in the sun was so bright and the reflection of the white tables was a little bit blinding ! They eventually pulled the window awnings down but the seats by the door entrance were fully covered in sun and we noticed that the customers mid way asked to be moved because the sun was directly on them and their sushi ... yikes . Not sure why the tinting was so thin ..... Nonetheless, the service was amazing !!!! Our servers were super attentive and knew almost everything in the menu, my first time dinning here so I went off recommendations and they didn't disappoint. We also ordered the garlic edamame and Shishido peppers and they were equally good. I'm a fan of can soda at restaurants but would have been better if they had Coke Zero and not just Diet Coke . There is permit parking in the back of the building but no direct access to the building other than going around the block . Overall good experience, would probably dine here in the evening to skip the sun and sushi basking in it. read more

We decided to drive 35 miles, in the rain, to have Christmas Dinner at Seabutter and to celebrate our daughter's birthday because we love sushi. It was our first time at this restaurant. Reservation was early, at 4:30PM. We got there at 4PM. Nobody was there except for the staff. Our waiter Albert was very knowledgeable and able to describe and suggest different menu items. The fish was definitely fresh and delicious. We tried different ones. Service was super quick as no other tables were there. Prices were reasonable but again, we can't afford to eat that kind of food on a weekly basis anymore, unfortunately. Ambiance was neutral. Bright lights. No Christmas decorations at all (not that we cared) but the restaurant looked clean. I came here on a Friday for a girls dinner out so we could try their pressed sushi. The inside is nice and simple, it's what you'd expect and is an enjoyable atmosphere. We ordered the Pressed Tail and Salmon Avo for the pressed sushi, and a Specialty Roll. The Specialty Roll was amazing and so was their Salmon Avo. We were recommended this restaurant from other friends so we didn't expect any less. The Pressed Tail was interesting, if you like mushrooms on your sushi then I'd say give it a try. I probably wouldn't order it again for personal preference but nice to try for fun. We also ordered dumplings as a side and those were delicious. The service seemed great around the restaurant, but we just didn't get as lucky with our waitress. It's just she barely came to our table, not anything major though. The nigiri was actually delicious and I do like that the chef puts an effort to season the fish along with the rice, which does add some flavor to the overall experience. The selection was pretty good and standard, you get salmon, tuna, and yellowtail. The pressed sushi is an interesting concept, it is essentially a deconstructed roll that is formed into a rectangular prism. My favorite is the specialty nigiri because it has unique fish cuts. The service was great, everything came out fast and the staff were very helpful. The restaurant itself is very clean, Bright, and peaceful. The only thing that I am pressed about is the fact that the taste of sea butter is a bit more expensive versus ordering à la carte. So you are better off ordering off the regular menu. We have been a loyal customer since they opened but our last order was terrible and manager didn't offer anything to remedy the situation. We ordered to go and our crispy rice tuna (both orders) were incredibly stale and hard. They were obviously not cooked fresh to order and all the crispy onion in our order was also stale. All tempura orders need to be cooked fresh to order and these were all stale. We called to talk to the manager and they didn't offer anything to fix the situation and simply told us that they will talk to the cook. This was unacceptable and we are moving on. read more

Pressed Toro - 4 stars. Their take on pressed sushi works, though I'm not a huge fan of truffle. Spicy Tuna Rice - 4 1/2 stars. Delicious! 2 little bites of creamy tuna with a bit of heat served atop crispy rice. Blue Crab cut roll - 4 stars. Quite good, but a bit forgettable. The marlyn was tasty with the sauce, but I was a bit surprised by how much I could taste the daikon without it. I've had daikon before but not in sushi. I'd probably skip this roll next time. Great customer service, street parking is available or you can park at the Americana and walk over but you have to pay for parking. The food was average, the rolls are small and not to my taste. He put in the order for the kiddos first (major plus for a parent since nobody wants to deal with hangry kids!) and proceeded to check in on us to make sure all was good. And the cherry on top, I believe he said Nico(?!) drew this wonderfully sweet thankful note on the take out bag that had utensils. How often do you get a random note of niceness these days?! When driving through Glendale, we noticed a new sushi place had opened and decided to give it a shot. It is located across the street from the Americana mall and is housed where a former fast food place was located. We were able to secure a reservation and headed over for dinner. Upon arrival, we were shocked at the transformation of the space. It is sleek and modern, a huge contrast from the previous tenant. We approached the host and were taken aback by her lack of enthusiasm or eye contact. She tried seating us at a table by the front where everyone has to walk past you. This choice of location, despite there being many open and available tables, was not a positive start to this meal. We asked to be seated elsewhere and she complied but with the energy of a sloth. Thankfully things picked up from there. Our server and all of the accompanying staff was energetic, outgoing and friendly, the complete opposite of the host. Our server guided us through the menu and made some suggestions. We ended up with a tempura, a sashimi, a roll and some pressed sushi, something I was not all familiar with. The items came out quickly and all exceeded our expectations, especially the pressed sushi since it was our first time experiencing it. All of the seafood was very fresh and the composition of the dishes was quite nice. We will definitely return to Seabutter. While it's a bit on the pricey side, the quality of the fish and the outstanding staff (not the host) make us want to come back for more.
