I would say the sandwich tasted like a Schatzki sandwich, but the preparation was terrible of it. When it came out, it was all falling apart and just didn't look like they put it together with any care. Your service was also very light not friendly never made eye contact. We could hear the people in the kitchen giggling and laughing about something the whole time not paying attention to what they were doing. inside was very dirty also, only a couple people in there, but the tables were all dirty. Visited 5 days ago and was overcharged. Mistakes happen BUT after waiting almost 30 minutes to have the charge corrected apparently not one of 3 employees in the store knew how to issue a refund. They finally called the manager who proceeded to tell them to tell me they cannot issue refunds on the same day and he would do it when he came in the next day. I would give this location no stars, if possible. First, I would like to say I have loved Schlotzsky's since discovering them in the late 80s. I've eaten at many across Texas and get a craving for them. However, in my opinion, this particular New Caney Schlotzsky's location DOES NOT taste like nor represent the flavor, freshness and bread fluffiness texture of all the amazing Schlotzsky's sandwiches and food overall. Major difference (not the only difference) for me is the BREAD!! THIS LOCATION'S BREAD IS DIFFERENT IN A BAD WAY. It is dense, stale, tasteless, and sometimes cool to the touch. This location has been the most convenient and I have given them several tries over the last few years... it's still bad and no change towards the better. The bread does not and has never tasted good fresh, the texture is hard not fluffy with a slightly yummy crisp to the outside. The sandwiches are tasteless, not like Schlotzsky's! The meat, cheese, mustard and even tomatoes are not like other Schlotzsky's. I am not a picky eater nor a person that believes in one and done for restaurants. I have given them several tries over the years. Last attempt, we threw out two large originals. The feel and taste... yuck! So, in conclusion, is this New Caney location a breakdown of management and/or quality control, machines, ingredients?? I don't know, but this location DOES NOT accurately represent the quality, freshness and taste of the Schlotzsky's I know and love! The bread is hard and tasteless, the broccoli cheese soup is a yellow liquid with 0 flavor, the black olives are just place in your sandwich and not baked into the cheese. The paper towels are 1 ply so you need to use a million. You have to buy water because a cup of water is NOT an option. So I walk in stand in line the guy behind the counter (Nick) Takes the order of the people in front of me so wen I get to the counter he darts off to the back for some unprofessional reason, So I proceed to wait for him to come back wen he gets back to the counter I place my order for a salad that's when he abruptly cuts my order short to say no salad sale today, He then proceeds to refer me to the Turkey sandwich saying it has the same thing as the salad. So my question is why not just make me my salad then. This was very unprofessional service, Not to mention this was my very first time ever in my life to try Schlotzsky's. I've been coming here for the past year or so with my lady and it's always a good time. We typically only go through drive thru. So today we go through drive thru and a man pulls up behind us and we come to find that he was harassing the employees in order to get his doordash order ahead of me so he could jet out of there. He pulled up beside me and got out of his car and came to the window and harassed them even further. I had to frantically roll my girlfriends window up. I could tell by the looks on their(employees) faces and expressions that they were extremely sorry that some other customer was putting us through a freaky situation. Visiting the location on 3 different occasions, giving them the benefit of doubt as it was a new location... customer service is horrible, employees are rude and more interested in conversing with each other than taking care of the customer. More recently , as I was standing in line to order, a lady returned her "pizza" to the cashier asking if it could be cooked a little longer. Let me start by saying I have always loved Schlotzsky's and I was so excited to see them. I tried this location shortly after they opened and I had such a horrible experience. Service was slow and sadly my food wasn't even edible. I took one bite and tossed it in the trash. Fast forward to today.....I thought I would give it another try and surprise people at home with some cinnabons and a turkey club for me. The girl on drivethru was sweet but had me pull to window for my total. The total for 4 cinnabons and a small sandwich was a whopping 37!!!!!! I told her I think that has to be wrong and she said nope that's the correct total. She said it was 30 for the classic 4 pack of cinnabons. I told her NO WAY each cinnabon is over 7 each and she said yup they are. So when I asked how much for 1 cinnabon she says 3.99. Hmmmmmm something isn't adding up and apparently math wasn't her strongest subject. She finally got the manager and after some time they gave me the correct amount. It's really scary to think how many people they have charged almost double for cinnabons and got away with it! The sandwich was absolutely drenched in mayo and the cinnabons were not fresh. Sadly I won't be returning to this location. Make sure and check your receipts!!!!! I have given 2 stars because service wasn't super slow but then again I was their only customer. I'm never "that person" but my experience today put me over the top. This location has always been painfully, I mean painfully, slow with orders. But I love the food, so I return. Today, taking into consideration how slow I knew it would be, I decided to order online to pick up on the fly, as I had an appointment. I thought I beat the system and was super excited to pick up the online order at the pick up station inside (as stated on my 'Order Received' page) only to discover the dining room is still closed and was directed to the drive thru. There, sitting third in line for over 20 minutes to pick up my online order slated for pick up at 1:06pm... finally made it to the drive thru window, to then still wait on the order. I drove away at 1:23pm... though I think it's ridiculous, I'm fine with the dining room being closed, but either disable the online order platform for now or allow online orders to be picked up on-time and inside as stated. Not your typical schlotzskys...I was hesitant to come here but my kids convinced me. I had the sliders and Mac N Cheese and everything was fantastic. The Mac had cheddar, brisket, and jalapeños in it and the sliders were brisket with apricot preserves, provolone, and green peppers. My daughter had the tacos and half a small pizza and my son had a rueban with a cup of tomato bisque. Everyone loved their food, the restaurant is clean and comfortable with lots of outlets and charging ports if you plan to lunch and work or study while you are there. I just walked( right now) into the store 8:30 pm they close at 9pm. The girl was cleaning trash bin out. She noticed me and my husband walking in and unlocked the door.. if you close at 9pm and there's still 30 mins left why is the door locked, then when we came into the store a young man popped his head around corner with broom looking like why are they here then popped back in. It was the most uncomfortable experience. I understand getting side work done when not busy, but I'm sure the owner would be unhappy to loose business due lazy employees locking doors 30 mins before closing and making us the customers feel unwanted or like we were inconveniently disrupting their night to leave on time. I start to order and the gentleman tells me that I should make my kids eat just meat and cheese on their sandwiches if they want to be picky and that they were making things difficult and I was too nice to my children by letting them be picky and making the sandwiches difficult to make.
