Fish tales is one of my favorite restaurants whenever I visit Ocean City. I normally go for lunch in the afternoon after a beach day or a day ar Seacrets. My favorite dish is the bowl with mahi but there are many other tasty options like the seafood bake which is a baked potato filled with shrimp, crab and a few other seafood items. Don't expect cheap prices. For example, a bowl is around $26 but it's worth it. Staff is friendly, there's plenty of free parking at their huge parking lot, many outdoor seating and a nice view of the marina. read more

We stumbled happily into Fish Tales while heading to buy bait nearby. At first, we walked into the outdoor bar and thought, "Well... I guess this is it." Then someone directed us toward the back, where we discovered a huge outdoor restaurant. What a fun, totally hidden place! The floor is sand, the tables and decor are colorful, there are trinkets hanging everywhere and there's even a shipwreck themed play area in the back where kids can explore while waiting for their food. It has a laid-back beach vibe that's hard not to enjoy. Then there's the view. You're right on the bay, watching boats, birds, and people fishing. Oddly enough, seagulls really weren't a problem. The only one I saw patiently waited for a table to leave, then elegantly hopped into the sand, walked underneath the table, and grabbed a lone French fry. Smart bird. Service was attentive, the food was good, and the drinks were okay. I've had better cocktails elsewhere in Ocean City, but my mojito was refreshing. One thing that did annoy me was the cocktail menu. There were no prices listed anywhere. I asked our waitress up front, and she said most cocktails were around $10-$12, which is reasonable these days. So... why hide the prices? I know restaurants often leave prices off online menus because they want you to come in. But once I'm sitting at the table with a menu in my hand, just tell me what everything costs. One standout entree was the fried shrimp basket. Those shrimp had a delicious seasoning that really made the dish. The fish and chips was another winner...classic, tasty and well executed. The steamed clams were fresh, but on the small side. There wasn't any broth, butter, or sauce either...just a dozen small steamed clams. The crab cake sandwich was tasty, although we've had better ones elsewhere in Ocean City for about the same price. Overall, Fish Tales is a very fun place for lunch or dinner. It's about as casual as it gets. Plastic chairs, your feet in the sand, boats cruising along, kids playing on a shipwreck, and a great view of the bay. read more

For a beach bar it's very nice - you can swing on little one-person hamock/chairs near the bar area. On a Friday or Saturday night this place is hoppin'. I'd been to Fish Tales once before, and this time was better than I'd remembered! We stopped by for dinner around 5:30 and found it already super busy. There was a 30-40 minute wait to get seated as a party of 4, but luckily we were able to order snacks at the bar in the meantime. The interior had a ton of eclectic decor - Harley Davidson merch, surfboards, flags on the ceiling, etc. My boyfriend said it looked like a Jimmy Buffett song come to life. For drinks, I got a Mojito and it was SO strong and tasty. We shared an order of Calamari and Thai Shrimp. Both were huge portion sizes and really tasty. None of the fried items were soggy and the flavors were nice. I also got the Ahi Poke, which was pretty good. The wasabi sauce was a bit too strong for me, and horseradish taste was overwhelming. Welp I have kids so we can start with the giant play place that makes Fish Tales my fave spot to eat in OC. Today there was someone doing little paintings on the kids arms. Happy hour until 6, we snagged $6.75 crushes. We ordered the Thai shrimp on a whim. Huge win. These medium sized shrimp were freshly fried and so stinking good. The Thai chili glaze was sweet with a mild kick and we managed to eat appx. Half before our food made it to the table. Now the meat of the review, literally: I have been dreaming of "the bowl" with pork belly since last year. The bowl is seasoned rice, black beans, mango, plantains, avocado and protein. I chose pork belly and expected a single piece: nope. 4 behemoth pieces. I couldn't finish half the meal. My husband ordered the crab cakes they came with corn in the cob, a baked potato and a salad. He opted for Caesar which was good. The crab cakes were fine but as born and bred Marylanders who lived in Baltimore he was disappointed in the amount of filler used. They weren't bad, he's just got a pretty high standard. The actual star of his dinner was the super fresh and really delicious eastern shore corn. He was full but kept picking the corn back up because it was 'so good.' They have butter cake in the menu which I was dying to try but unfortunately I felt the need to waddle out already and had not a single ounce of room. Unfortunately, we were not fans of our experience here. My husband and I came with our two kids, and while the playground is super cute and the kids enjoyed it, the service was extremely disappointing. My food was completely inedible. I took one bite, immediately let our server know, and explained the issue. Rather than having the manager come over to speak with us or even check on the situation, our server spoke to the manager and came back to tell us that we still had to pay for the meal--even though I didn't eat it. What was most disappointing was that the manager never once came over to our table to ask what was wrong with the food or try to address our concerns. Customer service should be about more than simply telling a customer they have to pay for something they couldn't eat. We come to Ocean City every year and have visited this place before, but after this experience, we unfortunately won't be coming back. Visited with my parents and had a very disappointing experience from the moment we walked in. As we approached the hostess stand, the man at the door said to me, "Hey sweetie, you drinkin'?" I later learned he was the bouncer and that he needed to check my ID, but there was absolutely no reason to address me that way. I'm a 38-year-old woman, and if he needed to verify my age, he could have done so professionally. Being called "sweetie" and asked if I was "drinkin'" before I even reached the hostess stand felt inappropriate, unprofessional, and honestly creepy. It made me uncomfortable and immediately set a negative tone for the entire visit. Unfortunately, the food didn't make up for the experience. Overall a great experience. The restaurant was very busy as it was a Friday night. We were told it would be a hour to hour and a half wait. Grabbed a drink at the bar and only waited about 50 min. Staff is really friendly here. Food comes out pretty fast too which is great. The clam strips were delicious and mussels were nice and fresh. I got a seafood burrito that was stuffed with shrimp, crab and scallops. Someone else at my table did order tacos, which were suppose to be Mahi Mahi but they brought out shrimp instead. Fish Tales is a bayside seafood restaurant located in the Bahia Marina. They are open every day from 11:00AM - 2:00 AM. Every time I come to OCMD, I have to stop at Fish Tales. The service is good, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is awesome. The seafood burrito is my usual go-to. It's packed with shrimp, crab, and scallop chunks, and then topped with creamy queso and enchilada sauce. By far, the best burrito I've ever had. My buddy ordered the seafood baker. It consists of a jumbo Idaho potato stuffed with shrimp, crab, scallop chunks, cheddar cheese, bacon, and scallions. He loved it! Happy hour is Mon - Fri 3:00PM - 6:00PM. This place is such a vibe! It's almost like a little town and restaurant at the same time. 3 friends and I came here on the Sunday evening of Labor Day weekend. I ordered the Chilean sea bass which came with coconut rice and green beans. The sea bass was underwhelming. They didn't crisp up the skin, there was little to no seasoning, and it was a little undercooked. The green beans were bland. Absolutely no seasoning on them at all. In a surprising turn of events, the star of my meal was the coconut rice. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I've never had better rice and I want the recipe lol. Went here on a Thursday night to watch a football game and my husband wanted to have a few beers. Such a cool spot, super spacious and a large bar, a large one and a small one. Breezy, outdoors. I was tempted to get the rum runner frozen drink which claims to have the recipe from the tiki bar in islamorada. So, first sip.. robitussin, 2nd sip, def cough medication cherry. Horrible. I looked up the recipe just to do it and it was supposed to have Overproof Rum, Giffard Banana, Crème de Mûre, Giffard Blueberry, Lime Juice. However mine only had some thick red syrup, blended with ice and some rum added into a large straw. Yuck!! Lacks any fruit flavor besides the thick cough medication. I also saw some fresh fruit hanging around the bar, which had me thinking they may use real fruit juices. Also, the menu for drinks lacks any prices. Why are they a secret. Ew, pass. Our first visit to Ocean City, MD for our 19th anniversary. We walked to Fish Tales from our room at the Grand Hotel. We went here for lunch after exploring on the Boardwalk. Very neat, large bar & grill complex on the isthmus. Indoor & outdoor seating, Bahia marina & tackle shop, & water craft rentals. Cool, shady, & very comfortable. Friendly staff all-around. We sat at the bar and ordered our drinks from Isaiah. We ordered a Bloody Mary ($14) & a pineapple cocktail in a can ($9). We relaxed with our drinks while looking over the menu. We had a chicken Caesar salad ($21) and their great smoked fish dip w/ tortilla chips ($19) - a few splashes of Tabasco sauce made it a real tasty treat. Open 11am-12am everyday. Happy hour 3-6pm.
