The waitress was honest and said about 9 out of 10 customers loved their lobster rolls as compared to those in Maine. She told me if I did not like it, she would get me something else. There is limited parking around the restaurant, but I noticed they had some reserved parking for their restaurant across the street as well, which has signage. The cocktails were great, and the crab and pimento dip was just okay. I ordered the shrimp and grits from the daily specials menu and didn't love it. The shrimp came with the shells still on the tail, which I had to pick off myself. Also the chorizo wasn't crumbled, but cooked in the casing and then cut up, which made it rock hard and taste very strongly of iron. It's what I would imagine a blood sausage to taste like (gross!). I didn't finish my plate, which was a bit disappointing. My family ordered a crab cake sandwich and fried fish sandwich, which they said were good though. As you can see from my past 8 reviews, this is now one of my top 5 favorite restaurants for happy hour at the bar. I will summarize our most recent 2 visits with family and friends: We were here on Friday for happy hour dinners at the first floor bar with our friends. Friday is wine night with 50% off wine bottles. We ordered a bottle of Montmayou Malbec red wine for $46, which was discounted down to $23. We shared and enjoyed 18 raw happy hour oysters for $18. I also enjoyed my usual two Mai Tai's for $8 each. I also enjoyed my usual tuna roll for $11. I ate half of my tuna roll and took half home with my bag of unopened Cape Cod potato chips for a snack later that night. I ended my dinner with my favorite Baby Bob draft beer for $5. Baby Bob is an American Stout ABV: 6.0%. It is bold, dry, and roasty. This is not your typical stout. As an American Stout it is on the hoppier side, but is balanced nicely against the dark roasted malt. My total bill after the 50% Friday wine bottle discount was $93 excluding gratuity. Margarita D. (Rita) formerly from Northeast Seafood Kitchen served us very well. We returned here again with our friends for happy hour also on Friday. We sat at the downstairs bar. I started with my two usual Mai Tai's ending with my Baby Bob draft beer for $7. We enjoyed our dozen Chunu Virginia oysters. Shucker Dan always does a great job shucking our oysters. I enjoyed my sushi bowl with yellow fin tuna, black rice, spicy mayo, wakame smoked ponzu and togarashi rice cracker for the first time for $21. We also shared a bottle of Trisaetum chardonnay for $55. The Friday bottle of wine discount of 50% reduced our wine down $27.50. Bartender Dylan E. served us very well. My total bill was $131. My grandma doesn't like crabcake sandwiches, but guess what, she demolished this one and wanted another lol The crabcake was literally all crab and was so fresh. The ambiance was what you expect when dining on the east coast of Delaware, it felt like you truly walked into a fish camp, from the patrons sitting at the bar and the raw bar, to the families that were enjoying dinner and laughter together truly made you feel welcomed. Now to the food, we started off with their house made hush puppies tossed in old bay and served with honey butter, and deviled eggs with candied bacon and hot honey, these 2 dishes alone gave you that taste of southern cuisine, than came our entrees, we both had the fish and chips, and I must say this by far is one of my favorite dishes we have had since we've been coming to the beaches of Delaware and Maryland, the fish was super flaky and moist, the breading was super crispy and flavorful, you could taste the dill in their house made tartar and it left me wanting more, the chips were crispy and hot, the Cole slaw was very fresh, and the dill pickle chips on the side gave you that nice taste of salty and sour, in all Matt's exceeded our expectations and we can't wait to return in the fall!' read more

This meal was sumptuous and utterly delightful. We enjoyed a cool breeze on the upstairs eating area and everything was top of the line. Heirloom tomatoes with burrata? Steamed clams? Parker rolls? Restaurant has a great vibe and was very busy on a Thursday night for dinner. There was 3 of us and we were told there would be a 35 minute wait...not a problem off to get a drink at bar and wait outside on patio chairs set up for waiting. Luckily we met a nice couple who mentioned there was another bar upstairs and when I went up I was shocked to find a huge bar that was almost empty (why the hostess didn't mention that was fcfs seating I have no idea). We grabbed seats at that bar and I took us off the waitlist. Bar up there is nice and roomy and a little less hectic than downstairs. When weather is nice they have e ability to open up a garage style glass door which leads to patio. This place gets A+ for vibe and ambiance. Our bartender was nice and service was good. Food was ok. About what I'd expect from a busy Ocean City restaurant. We started with calamari which I wouldn't order again. Calamari itself was good but batter way under seasoned and there was nothing special about it. Sauce was good though. Both guys had lobster rolls which they said were good but average. I prefer mine just drowned in butter so I didn't try. I had the soft shell crab special which was really good if you like soft shells. French fries were on point. My parents and I dined here on a Thursday in January around 6pm. We were seated immediately despite quite a crowd of people inside. Kelsey W was our server and she did an excellent job. She was attentive and friendly. We started with the parker house rolls and the onion rings appetizer. The parker house rolls were heavenly. Fresh, soft, warm bread paired with the maple-honey butter. You definitely won't be disappointed ordering them. The onion rings were delicious as well. The batter was light and the paprika gave it a nice kick. The dipping sauce pairing well with them. I also ordered a Matt's homemade soda in the black cherry flavor. It was great. I ordered the chicken and dumplings. The dish was huge and heavy. It was packed with chicken, gnocchi, pearl onions, carrots, swiss chard, and chicken gravy. It was certainly a unique take on chicken and dumplings. My dad ordered the baked crab cakes, which came with waffle fries and coleslaw. The waffle fries were crispy and delicious. He enjoyed the slaw. The crab cakes were a decent size and had a ton of lumps throughout. My mom ordered the fried cod sandwich with chips and coleslaw. The chips were homemade and she enjoyed them. The inside of her bun was a little burnt, but it was soft on top. The batter for the fish was flavored well and the cod was flaky and fresh. This was our first time here. My mom and I popped in for lunch on Sunday and almost all of the tables were open. We sat on the upstairs balcony and it was very cute. Our server was so kind and attentive and everyone we interacted with was helpful and nice. We tried both mocktails and really liked them. I love that you can order 3 oysters instead of six - they were fresh and pretty well priced. I got the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and it was really good, but definitely a little overpriced ($28). My mom got a crabcake sandwich for $24 and she said it was good! I was in Fenwick for vacation and I was looking for a place that had cheap oysters. This place has them for $1 during happy hour which is from 4-6 PM. They also have a really good sauce that you can put on them. I also got the tuna poke. The fish tasted good but I expected there to be a little more that comes with it for the price. I was kind of expecting it to come with more sides such as rice or vegetables like a poke bowl would have. I also tried the avocado deviled eggs and cod sandwich which were both okay, could have used more seasoning. The service was great, our waiter was very attentive and our food came out really fast. My review is simple, I love this place! Unfortunately, I don't live nearby so I don't get to go often but have been there 4 to 5 times and it has never disappointed at any time of year. You will need to be prepared to wait in the summer, and Fenwick Island is a little particular so you won't be able to enjoy a beverage outside while you're waiting, but none of that changes the fact it's worth the wait. I love oysters and this place does them right. Their SoDel Hot sauce is perfect for oysters with just the right amount of horseradish and hotness and flavor. They make excellent cocktails, which is always an important part of my dining experience. Decent selection of local beers doesn't hurt either. Even though I've only been there 4 to 5 times, we usually share entrées amongst the table so I probably had 10 to 15 items on the menu. While some of them rotate, none of them have disappointed. If you live there, are on vacation there, or just driving through, you need to stop and enjoy one of the best seafood meals ever read more

My shrimp dish has 5 shrimp, rice, and a tablespoon of pineapple salsa and was 35 dollars. The food was bland, like so bland. I had to cover my dish with salt just to make it bearable. Absolutely not. Came here a few days ago based on reviews. Had basic hopes and was sorely disappointed. Food was essentially inedible and not as described. It's always insulting when a place has all of the components to make good food and just falls flat. Like, it's an insult to the ingredients. We tried the "famous" onion rings -- huge rings where the breaded coating slides right off so you are left with fried breading on one part of the plate and naked onion on the other. Awesome. Also tried the kale caesar salad. Tasted like gloppy mayonnaise. Seriously. Definitely inedible. Had the brussels sprout appetizer. Same magic non-stick fried breading that was more incidentally sprinkled around rather than actually covering the sprouts. At first they brought out the sprouts as a side which is listed on the menu as (allegedly) roasted. I assure you it's not. These are steamed or par-boiled and then briefly thrown under the broiler to give it a slightly blackened look. Actual roasting opens the flavor up and caramelizes the food. What they gave us may as well have popped out of a sous vide bag or microwave with a little flame thrown on top. When I mentioned I thought it would be crispy, they sent it back saying that was the side of brussels, not the fried appetizer. What came back out was the same brussels, having now been tossed in the breaded coating and lightly fried so the coating just slipped right off. I could go on about the state of the rest of the food, but it's not even worth the bother. I will not ever go back and cannot comprehend how this place has so many positive reviews. read more

I'm a Fenwick local and have been a big fan of Matt's Fish Camp since it opened. The menu is very unique. I eat gluten free, and Matt's has a fair amount of appetizer and salad options for GF, primarily if you're a seafood lover. I love seafood, but if you're don't, there aren't a whole lot of gluten free options. I particularly encourage fellow gluten free consumers to check out Matt's Fish Camp for happy hours with hoeur d'oeuvres and cocktails. Great mocktail options, as well. My menu highlights: Crab Dip, Crabby Fries, Steamed Shrimp, Clams, Mussels, Oyster Shooters, Crab or Lobster Deviled Eggs, Lobster or Crab Cobb Salad. The cocktails are all great. You can't go wrong. This place is very unassuming from the outside, and along with the name, I was really expecting a very rustic look. Upon entering, it's bright, clean, beachy and beautiful. I enjoyed the Fish Camp Stew, a little spice to the broth (similar to bouillabaisse) with toast on the side. There was a generous portion of salmon, mussels, clams and shrimp. The clams were sadly a bit sandy. My dining companion had crab cakes, which she said she would have enjoyed more had they been hot all the way through. Being in Delaware, I knew I had to get some seafood and Matt's looked pretty good. With that known, I started things off with some New England clam chowder. Thankfully, I received the chowder fairly quickly and dug in. Having said that, the clam chowder was very tasty. To explain, it was creamy and flavorful. In addition, the clams tasted fresh and the soup was loaded with them. It was an enjoyable clam chowder. Next, I ordered the cold lobster roll with waffle fries and the results were similar to the chowder. To put into words, the lobster was tender and fresh. Furthermore, the lobster had just the right amount of mayonnaise. Likewise, the roll was toasted nicely and matched well with the lobster. My only problem was that the lobster roll had lettuce in it which was completely unnecessary. Despite that, it was still a good lobster roll. In the same vein, the waffle fries were good as well. Tax Free Delaware ! If you are in the OCMD area this is a must. Just drive a few minutes north to find Matt's Fish Camp as it is about 100 yards or so on the Delaware side. Place is super clean, has ample parking and is very inviting. Fish is all very fresh and reasonably priced. Servers are very friendly. Consistency is key and they are very reliable on the experience and food that they provide. Please tell them to lower the stadium lighting just a bit; it is really a little much. read more

Been to the Matts Fish Camp near Bethany Beach a few times so we hit this one since we were staying right next door to it. Wife got a Mai Tai. It was amazing. We got the icky sticky chicken app. SO GOOD. We both got the baby back rib special with some peach sauce. I thought it would be a little more "bbqy" but it was more peachy.
