I was in the area on a Saturday afternoon with my friend when he asked if I had ever tried this ice cream place. I said, "No," so we decided to stop by. The staff was very friendly. They greeted me as soon as I walked in, welcomed me, and asked if I had been there before. I replied, "No, it's my first time." The staff member then asked if I wanted to try any of their popular flavors, but I went straight for my favorite--caramel. I ordered a single scoop of caramel ice cream in a waffle cone, and it was delicious. I think the staff overheard my conversation with my friend about it being my birthday and my first visit because they gave me a very generous scoop. There is no seating area inside, so you'll need to enjoy your ice cream outside. Parking can be a challenge, but if you drive around the block, you should be able to find a spot. I will definitely come back to try some of their other popular flavors.

I love an ice cream parlor that's located on a busy street. This salt & straw is in the middle of downtown Burlingame so there's plenty of things to do. But there's also nothing wrong with stopping by to get some ice cream. I last went in the middle of a rush but our server was so nice. The thing I love the most about salt & straw is that they let you try all the flavors if you really want to. With the weather getting hotter be sure to stop here to cool down

Even though I liked them when I first tried their spot in Hayes Valley years ago, it'd be fair to say that my affinity for Salt & Straw really took root far more recently. As impressed as I was by how creative (and tasty) their flavors were, though, I have to admit that the long lines I'd consistently see made stopping by less appealing. However, with the way they've been expanding and how a lot of that initial hype/buzz has died down, the lines have gotten shorter and shorter. Which, in turn, has made visiting them so much more enjoyable! Each time I've been to this particular Salt & Straw, I've always left with a good experience. To be honest, it'd be pretty hard not to, given how it's right in the heart of Burlingame Ave (LOVE this area!) and that it's ice cream which is inherently amazing. Much like any of their other locations, the menu here has their set of usual staples flavors along with a slate of rotating specials and seasonal offerings. The last time I was here, they were featuring their Halloween creations, but I've also seen themes centered around Valentine's Day, Farmers Market, Fall Apples, and their Brewers Series. The one thing that they all have in common? Always unique and, for the most part, quite delicious! -- CHOCOLATE ZUCCHINI BREAD This was my favorite from their Farmer's Market series in August and I was stoked to get it one last time. While the nutmeg in this particular batch was a little too strong, the overall flavors were still great and the chunks of zucchini bread were so big! -- APPLE & CHEDDAR CINNAMON ROLLS - Apple Pie-Stuffed Cinnamon Roll Bites, Sharp White Cheddar Ice Cream with a Cinnamon Swirl I'm torn on this one. On the one hand, this started off really good - the cinnamon roll bites were great and the sharpness of the ice cream was really unique. That said, by the end, my tastebuds started to get tired of the taste of the cheddar. -- COFFEE & LOVE NUTS Ever since the first time I tried this, I keep coming back to it! The coffee ice cream is so good and I love how the chocolate covered pecans add a nice, sweet crunch. Of course, it doesn't hurt that all of the flavors naturally complement each other so well! DELICIOUS. -- THE GREAT CANDYCOPIA Kind of similar to the Coffee & Love Nuts, but sweeter and not quite as good. The bits of chocolate candy were just like the "Love Nuts", but, surprisingly/not surprisingly, the extra sweetness actually came more from the butterscotch ice cream. Still liked this one, though. Regardless of the flavor, the thing that I like most about Salt & Straw's ice cream is that it's always really creamy. Between how fast their tubs turnover and, presumably, the diary/ingredients they put into it, the texture is always so smooth. Also, what makes this specific location the best I've been to are the workers. Each of the half dozen or so times I've been here, the staff is always so friendly and welcoming, especially one dude in particular (really funny guy). That, plus how easy it is to find nearby parking after dinner and it's no wonder how this is my preferred Salt & Straw for a sweet treat to end any night!

We've been to the downtown Burlingame Salt & Straw at least a couple of times. The boys like this popular ice-cream parlour that specializes in creative flavors like Pear & Blue Cheese, Honey Lavender, Strawberry Honey Balsamic w/ Black Pepper and Arbequina Olive Oil. Located on Burlingame Avenue, there is metered parking along the street as well as lots with metered spaces in walking distance. The ice cream shoppe is very small with very little seating, so be prepared to order for to-go. The venue is usually fairly clean; however, their gender-neutral restroom seems to ALWAYS stink so badly that it can make you lose your appetite. For those who have never been to this place, I'm sure that the almost constant long line piques interest in trying them out. Don't be discouraged by the lengthy queue - service is fast, so the wait to order is not as long as one would expect. The staff is fairly friendly and helpful. They will describe and provide free tastes of flavors...with their reusable metal spoons (Used spoons are dropped through a hole at the counter). Go ahead - try as many flavors that catch your eye, don't be too shy to ask! Their menu offerings are very unique afterall. Gourmet ice cream is what Salt & Straw serves up. Limited edition novel flavors, such as Birthday Cakes & Blackberries and GoNanas Strawberry Caramel Banana Bread, are launched and rotated on the menu. Their Classic Flavors that are permanent residents on the menu, such as Cinnamon Snickerdoodle and Sea Salt w/ Caramel Ribbons, are just as interestingly inventive. I had a taste of the Salted, Malted Chocolate Chip Cooke Dough and the Coffee & Love Nuts (both Classic Flavors) and give two thumbs up for both. Doris also liked the Coffee & Love Nuts. Auntie Sol enjoyed the Goat Cheese Marionberry Habanero for its unique taste, a mélange of savory and sweet. V said that the Cinnamon Snickerdoodle is also good. If you are an ice cream aficionado, especially an adventurous one, this place is for you.

Evolve your ideas about what ice cream flavors have always been and embrace wacky combos that work... sometimes. My visit coincided with the release of their limited edition Thanksgiving flavors. Think of the familiar sides mixed with the desserts. If that's still too hard to imagine, thankfully the Salt and Straw team members allow you to try all the flavors! The Turkey Stuffing and Cranberry Sauce was too savory for me, the Parker House Rolls with Salted Buttercream too creamy. I settled on the Maple Koginut Squash with Pomegranate, which was still a bit savory but a tolerable amount for me. Salt and Straw is really only big enough for a line of people and ordering, so we ate our ice cream outside on the side walk next to the Apple Store. My friends eventually went back in for the Tacolate, another fantastical collaboration that I hoped that they all enjoyed.

It's already been several days later and I still am thinking about the strawberry balsamic scoop inside of a waffle cone that I ordered at Salt and Straw ice cream in Burlingame, California. The ice cream cone was awesome! It definitely fulfilled every wondering that I had after reading a story about Salt and Straw. The ice cream was delicious! The waffle cone was perfect! And the scoop size was decent for what I expected. The flavor that I ordered was an incredible mix of different flavors. It not only tasted great, The ice cream cone looked great to the eye too. As this was my first time in any Salt and Straw location I took a moment to take the experience in. That included sampling multiple flavors. And watching how they ran their operations. The other flavors that I sampled were also delicious. Including the pair and blue cheese variety which was unexpected. From what I was thinking it was going to be. Completely delicious too! I really enjoyed the fact that they're giving you actual mini spoons, that are real flatware instead of some plastic throwaway thing. Thing. Depositing the mini spoon into a little slot below where you're standing after you've consumed your ice cream sample. The only negative aspect that I had for my visit was one of the male employees whose attitude behind the front counter seemed to indicate his job was in the back instead of in the front. He was in the front distracting the other employees from helping the customers. Making loud noises that shocked several of the employees and a couple of the customers. Laughing about it. All the while. Standing in between the employees and the customer counter with his back. Turned to the customers at the time. After ink, fortunately his whole interaction in the front seemed to last only about 5 minutes or so. This was during the time that it took me to download the Salt and Straw app, register, and show the app to to the person at the register checking me out. This location is also inside of a very nice area of Burlingame California, on Burlingame Avenue. Conducive to a positive experience at Salt and Straw. It's great to dally on the street and drift inside for a delicious treat. Despite the problems that I had at the store during my visit, I heartily recommend

Loved the birthday cake with blackberry jam! Great balance of sweet and tart. Also tries a sample of the berry cornbread pudding. Friend got banana bread strawberry jam. I like that they let you sample flavors before ordering. The line at this location was shorter and moved quicker compared to the one in San Ramon. Service is friendly and fast. I'd come here regularly if I lived closer! TIP: grab a few napkins if you get a cone because the cones can be drippy.

Solid choice for ice cream. Chocolate gooey brownie is so good. Always busy even in the evenings or when it's chilly. The taste outweighs it being cold lol.

Single Scoop (Huckleberry Cornbread Pudding) on a Waffle Cone (10/10) -- From July 2025's Berry Series
    Johnathan B.

Salt & Straw is my favorite place to get ice cream on the Peninsula, mostly here at the Burlingame location. Compared to the Palo Alto one, the lines here tend to be shorter, and it's fun to walk around B Ave with a cone! But, the staff at both locations is friendly and helpful regardless of the line length. Their ice cream is always texturally perfect. It's cold enough to hold together even on a reasonably warm day, but not even remotely icy; instead, it's creamy and a little stretchy in the best ways. Then, the flavors! They specialize in high quality ingredients and really interesting flavors that are (almost always) delicious. They have a set of permanent flavors, like their Chocolate Gooey Brownie and Arbequina Olive Oil, as well as a rotating "Monthly Menu" series. Each month's menu has a theme, like "farmer's market" this month and "berries" last month, with a wide variety of flavors fitting that theme. One of my all-time favorites from was last month's Huckleberry Cornbread Pudding, which combined the perfectly tart huckleberry with crumbled and creamed buttermilk cornbread. I hope they bring it back again next year! They also do vegan flavors, so anyone who can't/doesn't do dairy or egg isn't stuck with a sad sorbetto that time forgot. Plus, some of their flavors with cakey mix-ins are gluten free, too.

Salt & Straw can truly get away with any flavor combo. Goat cheese, olive oil, cornbread?! Sounds ambitious and risky but this place nails it every time. I love to get a split scoop of something off their regular menu (obsessed with the Coffee & Love Nuts and Chocolate Gooey Brownie) and of their seasonal/monthly flavor. I always look forward to seeing what new and inventive flavors are being offered. At the time I went, they featured their Berries Series and I tried the Oishii Strawberry Pretzel Salad. So yummy, so creamy, so good. My husband also enjoys grabbing a pint of the Sea Salt w/ Caramel Ribbons to-go which has the richest, nuttiest caramel flavor. Admittedly, the ice cream is on the pricier side (~$7 for my split scoop in a cup) but IMO 100% worth it.

    Nicole C.

Came here for double scoop day and the line was looong but went by fast! I love their pie series of flavors as well as their regular flavors. The workers are so kind and patient with letting us sample the flavors before we pick! I also love their waffle cones! They make it fresh!

Delicious and unique ice creamery. I had a salted Carmel and a scoop of coffee crunch. Absolutely delicious! Service was good too. Located in the heart of downtown Burlingame.

    Kiana S.

I got one scoop of the cinnamon snickerdoodle ice cream, and it was so good. The flavor had that warm, sweet cinnamon taste that instantly made me think of fresh-baked cookies. What really made it stand out were the chunks of actual snickerdoodle cookie throughout the ice cream -- soft, chewy, and full of cinnamon sugar goodness. The ice cream itself was super creamy and smooth, not icy at all, and the balance of flavor and texture made every bite satisfying. It was sweet, but not overpowering, and felt like the perfect treat to end the day.
