I grew up fishing but as a girl I do not know my fish, equipment, etc... I am the bait a worm and throw your pole in kind of gal. We had been going to Bass Pro, which is quite large, overpriced and full of stuff that detracts you from the mission you have for being there in the first place. I came here to see what they had and I was so surprised. On the outside it doesn't look like much but on the inside...wow. I saw lures, hook and other things that came in all shapes, sizes and colors. The prices were awesome. I walked out at around 20.00 for what I bought, which would have been about 10.00 more at Bass Pro. The guy working in there new his $**!. I walked up in a typical girl fashion and asked where the worms were. Not only do the have MASSIVE live worms they are cheaper than BP. Again, this guy knew his stuff. I begin telling him what type of fish we had caught and from my awful description he knew the name AND pointed them out to me on the trophy wall. Sweet!!!! I even described this ugly bug that we say, he knew the name AND they carry rubber ones as bait. We are on our way back to get some worms to fish tomorrow with. I live closest to BP but I will drive across town to go here! read more

I have given this store 4-5 visits. Not once was the customer service at par. All of the ladies that work the register look very annoyed and never smile, and most of the guys that work there never talk to customers. The only one there that is nice is Tim. Although they might have everything you need for whatever fishing you might be doing, the prices are no different than bass pro or anything online. I had the worst experience at the store. I came in there was a younger girl dark hair kind of short and thin that was very rude she ignored me the first three times I said excuse me. She acted like she had something better to do than to help me. She called one of the guys over to help and fbut I was not happy with the service that I got. The girl that was rude to me was talking about me to the cashier so then when I went up there she was hella rude to me also . I have heard nothing but good things about this store. And my first time coming in was very disappointed I will never shop here again and I will tell all my fishing friends please never shop there because they are rude. Fishermans Warehouse has been my go to reliable tackle provider for many years. Alan Fong and his associates have been very knowledgeable and attentive to all local fishing needs. This characteristic is largely missed in other stores. Being a guide it is very important to be able to fill your needs asap. They do a great job of sharing fishing knowledge with seminars and the vast experience that Alan Fong and his associates have. Recent remodeling has also enhanced their product lines and will continue to expand their product base. This tackle store is a Sacramento staple and if you ever need anything in the way of information or equipment Fishermans Warehouse is the best place to get it. They have other locations that are also very similar and have the same attributes. If there was a 6th star I would award it to this post. read more

I ordered about $40 online from their website. I got a message two days later asking me to call about my order. They left an 800 number. I called the number and it was one of those "for a good time" phone numbers. They didn't even know their own phone number! So I called the regular number listed on the website, got the gal who called me, and asked why she wanted to talk with me. She said "We can't accept an order where the shipping address is not the same as the "Bill to" address. WTF? I was ordering for a friend of mine...a gift for a favor he did for me. She wouldn't budge on the policy, so I said "Cancel the order...I'll order from someone else who WILL send the shipment where I want it to go". I can't see how these guys stay in business. read more

My husband and I purchased a fish finder, it was priced wrong in their store. We figured it out after getting home and installing it. It was not the one they had had the price on in the store. I called and talked to a lady manager. She explained the prices were wrong on the display, but she would make it right. It took a couple days but she did what what was right. They typically have everything fishing related that I am looking for. I've been here twice within the last month or so. I drive all the way up here from the East Bay. The previous time I purchased a Daiwa Laguna baitcasting reel. On the most recent visit I picked up a 10' Lamiglas Insane Surf fishing rod along with a bunch of jigs and weights to make some custom leaders for Rockcod fishing from the shore. The prices are competitive and their selection is great! I'll be a regular customer for a long time. IMHO, this is a better store than Bass Pro Shops. read more

Drove an hour to stop by and pick up salmon gear. Decent selection with fair prices. Wife needed to use restroom before leaving for the ride home and they wouldn't let her. I have been buying my bass baits,my first graphite rod, my first fenwick flipin stick ,beforee Dee Thomas told me what flipin was. back then I was a teen age red neck kid liveing at what was then Dells boat harbor. the whole Delta was cloged with water hyeceint- toolys back then for a wile .. that bait shop was. like the worlds greatest toy store to me. I weighd my bigest bass 10 lb4oz there on there freight scales. I have stoped there to,and or frome. the best fishing trips of my life so far. I now live in seattle WA. near the home of some real nice steel head. and will return to probly the stokton area as soon as a produce my first tournement riged custom bass boat and will never enter the state of CA before then. mean wile I am pleased to know I can still shop frome the greatest bait n takle shop on this planet. when I first learnd of takle were house I orderd some baits and thought to myself this is like going to Delta bait and talke with out leaveing my desck.. thank you for being such a great out fiter. I purchase fishing license vouchers in this place every year. Today, I attempted to purchase one from a young blond female working the counter. The young lady told me that I needed the person's birth date and driver's license number. I informed her that I did not and told her that I buy them here every year without a DOB or CDL, which seemed to annoy the young lady. Our conversation was overheard by a 30ish year-old bearded male employee who was also behind the counter. He said that he thought that it could be done and attempted to help. They tried briefly then told me that I needed to provide them with the person for whom the fishing license was being purchased DOB and CDL. I, once again, told them that I did not need to provide them with that information as I have purchased vouchers for many years, never needing to provide either. The male subject then finally realized that I was attempting to purchase a voucher and not an actual fishing license (duh!). The male subject seemed to have some problems getting to whatever screen it was that he was looking for on the computer/register when blurted out something similar to, "Oh, F#ck, there it is!", continued conversing with the female cashier before saying, "There's that f#cking thing!" I was with my 9 year old daughter, and although I believe it to be incredibly unprofessional regardless of whether or not my daughter is there, I find it totally disrespectful and unacceptable to use such crass language in front of a child. I told the young man to please refrain from using such language in front of my daughter. The young man looked at me briefly and went about his business, no apology, no nothing, just a stupid look like I was some sort of imbecile for daring to challenge his use of vulgar language in front of a child. Finally, I told these incredibly unfriendly and unprofessional people that I needed the voucher to also be for a second rod. I was told that it could not be done (not true). I suppose it just wasn't worth the effort for somebody just buying a fishing license voucher who obviously annoyed them by requesting some common decency. I am not an avid fisherman, I don't frequent this place too often, but know plenty of folks who do. I am not sure why anyone would subject themselves to the rude and insolent behavior of many of the staffers of this establishment. I have had friendly and helpful staff assist me here in the past, however, based upon these two unprofessional clowns, never again. There is nothing I can't buy at Wal-Mart or on the internet that this place has to offer. Many similar prior events in this place by myself, my wife, and adult daughter, all due rude or seemingly annoyed employees. Worst customer service! There is a sign in the store that states service is after the purchase, they don't practice what they advertise. The first reel I took in for repair sat at their Sacramento store for over 6 months and the part was never ordered. I eventually just told them to give me back my broken reel and I trashed it. Today 12/6/2012 I have another reel out for repair (when I took in for service it was under the 30 day purchase warranty) I have waited 4 weeks and still not repair. I ask myself, "Am I ever going to get my reel back?" and "Why do I still shop here?" My advice, make the extra 20 miles drive to Outdoor Sportsman in Stockton. Bought a defective reel back in July and brought it back to the store for an exchange/refund. Was told by one of the guys that they can't offer an exchange because the reel needed to be in "working" condition so it could be resold. Well how would I have known if it wasn't in working condition without it being use?! It needed to be returned back to the manufacturer because the problem was beyond their control. Keep in mind that the reel was still under the store's warranty. Called the store a couple of times to check the status and was given the same lame excuse of blah blah blah.... Fast forward to 3 months later I went to the store and demanded some kind of explanation. I was finally given another reel. After all the bs and runaround that was what they could of done! I'm never stepping foot here again. I love supporting small businesses but these guys obviously doesn't care about their customers. read more
