    Shopping locally.

Looks like it's been 2+ years since having been to this shop, but I came back today because for whatever reason I'd had a couple of flats again. Perhaps it's just good salesmanship but the sole proprietor explained to me that we needed rain and because of this, thorns were a bit more prevalent and that's what was causing my flats. I can change a tube out no problem. What he showed me was pretty crazy. I'd purchased a couple tubes filled with that "slime" stuff. Goo. I was a goo man. Turns out with the number of punctures I'd had in the tube, goo was all over the place especially after filling it up with air. Pretty much restored the confidence in my ability to repair a simple flat on a bike. This was bigger than that. I say perhaps good salesmanship because I didn't feel like as much of a failure walking out the door. Hope it takes another two years for me to get a flat tire that I think I can't fix.

As a child, it was a dream to purchase a bike from Fisk. Although I never had the experience, I lived out the childhood dream through my son - we purchased him a Redline BMX bike. As a lifelong resident of Dixon, I've stopped by the shop many times for accessories and parts. The owner, Jim, is the kindest, most-knowledgeable person. Jim shares his passion for bikes with all his customers, without pressure. Any future bike purchases will be at Fisk!

He literally trusts Jim with his life because as I'm sure you know, riding a bike with tire or brake issues could be deadly!

I came here to have the derailleur adjusted because the chain on a new bike I bought for my son keeps coming off when shifting. One quick look the guy (can't remember his name, but is a Filipino guy) at the shop noticed the chain was too long and needed to be cut. I believe that was $5 to do and then the to adjust the derailleur, it was going to cost $30 ($35 total). He said to leave the bike there and he will call later when it is completed. I decided to go grab some lunch while I waited for the bike to be completed. He called a couple hours later and said the bike was done and ready to be picked up. When I arrived he said the chain was bent in a spot, so those were the links he removed. He also said one of the adjustments on the derailleur was broken as the derailleur that came with the bike was cheap. He also made a few other adjustment to the bike for free which was greatly appreciated. If you need to purchase a used bike, need some adjustments on your bike or need to fix/replace any parts, Green Bicycle Depot is a great place for budget price.
