My Mom is 99 years old and a bit of a neurotic clean freak. Her kitchen sink 2lrg and a mid small sink with a disposal, was severely stopped up. We ran out to get a proper plunger and Mr Plumber ... it went down a bit and she was over the moon... as dishes piled up beside it. The water had drained but it filled again and there she was trying to plunge it determined not to have to pay an outrageous plumber bill. We'll Fetch came first thing fixed them ( all 3) from any future stuffing... and they will be returning to repair some electric issues as well... when told the cost she said... is that all... if I'd known you were so reasonable We'd have called yesterday... ( which is what I did anyway...) They also cleaned up after themselves... (except for that pile of dishes)... can't thank those fellas enough, for coming first thing and doing such a great job!! You'll be our go to handymen from here on out!!! read more

We had a water leak on a Friday, called the office and were told they could come out on Monday. So we turned down other offers for later in the week. HOWEVER, when Monday came they could NOT come as promised. We had to start over finding a plumber. We felt we were deceived. read more

BOTTOMLINE: Great Technicians, a little challenging with service communication, again though, Great Techs. I woke up one morning to hot water that was not, well, hot. I went into our utility room, and the hot water heater provided an indoor water feature that was not normal; spraying water from around the top rim and from the center of the top. I shut off the water to the hot water heater. My wife found the insurance we paid for through Dominion Electric and collectively coordinated for Fitch Services to come out. Initially, the lady on the phone said a technician could not come out for several days; if I recall, this was a Thursday, and the technician could not come out until Monday. However, after discussing the importance of a "Happy Wife" and a "Happy Life," the technician was arranged to come by and look at it that afternoon. They said that they would call when the technician was coming out. While the technician made it out that afternoon to look at it. The office called and said that the tech was on his way and would be there in a few minutes. Then about 20 or so minutes later, another person called from the office and said that the technician was on his way and would be there in half an hour. The technician finally showed up, checked things out, told us the issues, discussed our options, and made recommendations. This part was great service. He said that they had to process the insurance information and the office would get back to us. Later that day, the office called and talked about the options and costs. I approved the costs, and they said that if they could get the water heater locally, they would call and coordinate a time on Friday to install it. Well, no calls happened, and no times were planned. My wife called the next morning to see if they had any updates, and they said that the technician was on his way to install it. Again, they never told us this and never scheduled the installation. Several hours later, the technician knocked on the door to install the water heater. Again, the technician was very much a professional; clean, polite, efficient, and cleaned up after the installation. So why 4-stars and not 5? The technicians were great in reviewing the issues, talking with us, and the installation. However, I had to take a star away because the communication process had a lot to be desired, and the payment process required the full details of the credit card to be on the invoice. I would give 5-stars and more if they would communicate better, maybe even an automated email or call about an appointment or something, and the payment options were updated to include security measures for the credit card details. I will have them review future work as the technical services were great; I will have to be a little tolerable with less than equal administrative support and response. read more

Hired this company to do simple plumbing repairs; they had to come back 2 times to re-do the work and never did it right. I had to hire another plumber to come in and fix their mess. I am very dissatisfied with their work and in addition to not doing the work there was damage done to the kitchen cabinet door. I was billed for $119.00 for doing next to nothing and damaging the door. They were nice and polite but seem to be in a rush and which explains the bad/incomplete work. read more

We experienced an air conditioner outage during one of the recent heat waves, which naturally was after hours. We called Fitch Services whom we have used from time to time over many years. The operator who took our call and the technician who came to the house were both very polite, efficient, and reassuring. The technician , Thomas, was amazing and fixed the problem in under an hour. We had an emergency need for service with our tankless water heater and possibly replacement. We called fetch on an early Sunday morning but the tech on call said he couldn't help us, we would be helped on Monday when they opened. So we waited. On Monday nobody called so we called. The earliest they could agree to see us was 72 hours. We have a resident in the house who has a medical need to soak and bathe a wound twice a day with hot water so this was sort of not OK. I don't give them high marks as a result. read more

Fitch Services did a terrific job fixing a complicated piping problem at my house, which had completely clogged the kitchen sink. This had been a chronic problem and other plumbers had snaked and snaked the clog, which never completely cleared. But Fitch looked closer and found the real source of the problem (in the piping in the basement, which had been there since the house was constructed), and over several visits fixed the problem for good. The plumbers were prompt and professional and did a great job explaining the ins and outs of the problem to us. Office staff was efficient and professional and very kind, as well. And the price was fair. Communication every step of the way was outstanding--which was especially impressive as we were out of the country for this entire event (our poor house-sitters!).  I'll be calling Fitch for all my plumbing needs from here on out. read more

Cameraed my line for free and gave me a truly free estimate whether I used them or not. Job ended up being tougher than what was expected and not once did they bring up the possibility of changing from what they quoted me. Good group of guys right there. This review is regarding Fitch scheduling not their services which I have not experienced. I had three electrical tasks to be performed. Fitch scheduled a required estimate to be conducted at my home a week later however I was assured that the work could actually be performed that same week. I blocked out from 8 AM to 12 PM for the estimator's visit. Fitch told me they would call in advance of the estimator's arrival and fortunately I had not left my home since I was given less than ten minutes notice. The estimator was professional however when Fitch called to schedule the work it was for a week later. That made the interval two weeks from the time I first called Fitch to when the work could be performed. I am using another company because Fitch misrepresented the schedule and wasted my time. read more

Fitch Services has done plumbing work for me (water heater replacement in restricted space requiring repiping of water meter). They did fantastic work and the cost was approximately 1/4 of the amount that the major plumbing companies in Charlottesville were asking for. You read that right: 25% of the cost for the exact same work (and they were flexible, allowing for me to purchase the water heater and handle delivery on my own). I am going to exclusively use them for plumbing going forward and will also try their electrical and HVAC service. read more

You need to be able to trust people when you don't know about HVAC systems. From the service person to the scheduler to the installers and on to the owner, there is high level of competence at Fitch Services. More importantly, I never felt like I was being hustled into upgrading my system. I was given options, the pros & cons of each and had all my questions answered in terms I could understand. On 12/28/2015, I spoke to Fitch Services about having someone come to my home and check a leak under our kitchen sink. An appointment was made for 12/30/2015 and was told that someone would arrive between the hours of 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to take a look and give us an estimate on getting the leak repaired. My husband took half a day off from his job so he could be here when they arrived. At 1:45 p.m., the technician was in my driveway. I quickly placed our cat in our bedroom to keep her from being spooked which took about 30 seconds. When I went to the front door to greet them, the van was GONE! I spotted the van backing out of our driveway. I was a bit confused but then I noticed the time. They were early after all. I thought to my self, " They must have came by just to get an idea as to where they need to be. Maybe they went to grab lunch and then head back here to give the estimate." It was around lunch time, after all. My husband arrived home right before 2 p.m. and I told him what had just happened. After waiting for over an hour and a half, my husband called Fitch Services to get an answer as to when the technicians would be back to our home. That is when we were told, "Oh! They were at your home at 2:00 p.m. and knocked but no one came to the door. They have now left the area." That is where the problem begins!!!! The lady who answered the phone at Fitch advised us that she was going to get in touch with the technicians to find out what was going on and someone will call us back. We waited for an hour for the call that NEVER came. So, we called Fitch again.... The lady who answered the phone told us that she has tried to reach the technicians that supposedly knocked on our door by calling and leaving messages but they were not calling her back. To be honest, I was not surprised. While waiting on the promised phone calls, my husband and I came to the conclusion that these techs are not honest. If they lied about knocking on our front door then what else will they lie about? We decided that we were not comfortable having someone of that caliber in our home. We were calling another business that does this type of home repair. That is when our home phone rang and guess who it was. It was the honest folks at Fitch. This time we were told that," When the technicians arrived at your home, they saw that you live in a mobile home and well, we don't work on mobile homes so they just left." He did acknowledge the fact that the technicians should have made contact with us to explain company policy about the types of homes they will and will not work on. They should not have just left without letting you know. Now we have TWO stories. One, they did knock on the door but no one answered and TWO, they just left without even making contact with us because we did not live in the right kind of home. Why this company policy did not come up during the initial phone call when we made the appointment is beyond me. It seems like a pretty important question considering how many people live in mobile and modular homes. I do not recommend Fitch Services AT ALL. Honesty in their employees and respect for other peoples time is obviously not important to them. . read more

Arrived two days after I called, for a leak in my plumbing. (Two days without water). I could not get an estimate from them, even though I had already dug up the pipe and exposed the leak before they arrived. The servicemen were very knowledgeable and friendly, and the repair took less than an hour, and they took time to explain the flaws and errors in the original builder's work (Having a professional review the installation was one of the reasons I called in the first place, I'll admit) I feel the repair is much better than the original work. That being said, I was shocked at how much the bill was, and one more thing: When a CUSTOMER calls to request service, please don't treat them like they are bothering you. read more

I called Fitch in for a leaking in-line water filter because my usual plumber was unavailable. My mistake. I told the dispatcher the part number of the apparatus ($35 at Home Depot) and the gasket ($10 at Amazon) and asked her to tell the service person to bring them. He never got the message, tore the retaining screws off the wall while removing the cannister (something I've done for 20 years with no difficulty), didnt fix them, and charged $115 for all his help. read more

I've had nothing but positive experiences with Fitch Services. I have used them for electrical work and just had them come out for the first time to do an annual check up on our very old furnace. James was very detail oriented with the furnace and enjoyed working on our "old gal". I had a waterline replaced through the Dominion Virginia replacement program . Fitch is the company they use. When they came it was cold and ground frozen but they stayed and got line in so I had water.Nice effort Next day line had frozen as they had not covered it but thawed quickly .Problem is now 1 month later as ground unfrozen and we have had some rain. Place they dug for line sank .They had not filled in around the line and added enough soil to keep it covered. I called and they said not their problem as it rained and if I wanted more work done I would have to pay .They would not even come out and look at it . I explained to the phone operator a second time that rain had not washed soil away but there was not enough soil put in trench to begin with .I also emailed the owner with offer to send pics. They never called back.I spent 41/2 hours hauling soil from woods and covering trench. At 65 that was too much work for me.I will not use Fitch again as they do not stand behind their work I gave 3 * based on work 2 men did initially ( which was5*)and this follow up problem which is 0* read more
