I have been a member since the first day this location opened, and I continue to be impressed by how well it is managed. The manager and staff run the facility with professionalism, consistency, and genuine care for members. The gym is extremely clean -- there are always three staff members on the floor actively sanitizing machines, wiping surfaces, and keeping the bathrooms and showers spotless. My wife and I were members at Equinox for several years, paying nearly $400 a month, and the difference is night and day. At Equinox, the staff were often rude, and the machines and locker rooms were cleaned only every few days. Here, cleanliness is continuous and visible. Of course, like any gym, there are members of all ages and backgrounds, and not everyone is equally neat -- especially in the locker rooms. But the staff here address issues immediately. They take pride in maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment. For the level of service we receive, the membership price is extremely reasonable. I also use the spa regularly and have been very happy with it, even though some members occasionally ignore posted rules. The staff still handle these situations professionally. My wife and I come five times a week, and we truly enjoy it. I highly recommend this gym and want to thank the manager, staff, and floor team for keeping this place clean, welcoming, and enjoyable. read more

I have been a Fitness 19 member and had previously used the Rolling Hills Estates location around ten times without a problem. Then on June 10, 2026, I walked in and suddenly found out employees were apparently "supposed to stop" me. Stop me from what? Apparently entering the gym I had been using. I asked why I wasn't being allowed inside. Getting a straightforward explanation turned out to be a much harder workout than anything I planned on doing at the gym that day. Instead of someone calmly explaining what was going on, the situation escalated. A manager and a person identified to me as the owner became involved, and I was eventually ordered to leave. The interaction with the person identified as the owner became confrontational enough that I was concerned it might become physical. The strangest part was being questioned about why I was "smiling" or appeared to be laughing. Here's the problem: I have facial paralysis. I also have a documented traumatic brain injury and cognitive disability, and I explained that I have disabilities. My facial expressions do not always communicate what someone might assume they communicate. So imagine going to the gym and discovering that apparently your face needs to pass an attitude test before the rest of your body gets to exercise. I wasn't there to cause trouble. I was there to work out. If there was some legitimate restriction on my membership, somebody could have simply told me what it was. Instead, I was told employees were "supposed to stop" me without receiving a meaningful explanation for why. That is what bothered me most. I felt singled out, humiliated, and treated differently. Once I disclosed my disabilities, I expected the situation to become calmer and more understanding--not to have someone continue interpreting my facial expression as though it proved I was being disrespectful. People with facial paralysis, neurological disabilities, brain injuries, autism, hearing impairments, and other disabilities don't necessarily communicate or display emotions in ways strangers expect. A facial expression isn't permission to assume someone's intentions. Gyms should be places where people with disabilities feel comfortable trying to improve their health, not places where they have to explain why their face looks a certain way. If Fitness 19 believed there was a legitimate reason I could not use this location, I would have listened to an explanation. What I object to is being stopped, given no meaningful explanation, having my facial expression questioned despite explaining my disability, and having the interaction escalate to the point that I was concerned about a physical confrontation. I left without getting the workout I came for, but apparently I did get an unexpected exercise in patience. Based on my experience, I felt that I was treated unfairly because of manifestations of my disabilities. Fitness 19 should seriously review how this location handles members with neurological, cognitive, communication, and facial disabilities. And for future reference: sometimes a smile is a smile, sometimes it's facial paralysis, and neither one should get somebody kicked out of a gym. read more

The gym is decent, and for the price, it's hard to complain. That said, the men's locker room environment is unacceptable. Every time I use the locker room, there are teenage boys filming themselves posing and preening in front of the mirrors. There are clearly posted signs stating that filming with cameras and phones are not allowed in the locker rooms, but these kids simply don't seem to care. This isn't an occasional issue. I'm at the gym every other day, and it's a constant problem at this location. If you use the locker room, there's a good chance you could end up in the background of someone's TikTok video while you're changing, which is completely inappropriate and a serious privacy concern. This is a major problem for the club and they need more adults present because the very young staff has zero care about this issue. read more

Been a member for a few weeks -- customer service lacks and bathrooms/showers could use some work. You'll see trash on the floor and ants on the sinks. I wasn't going to leave a review but today, 12/11, they opened 25 mins late. I typically workout in the mornings so I get to the gym by 5am. This is not the first time they were late to open since I've been a member. The other times they were late by a couple minutes. Super inconvenient. The equipment is good at least. read more

I am writing to express my concern regarding an extremely unprofessional and inappropriate interaction I experienced on 1/27/2026 around 3 at Fitness 19 - Rolling Hills Estates, California, involving the location manager, Darell. During my visit, I noticed a member trying to get the sauna door to open but it was not working. Multiple members, including myself, were unable to determine the issue. The front desk was requested to come assist with opening. In response, the manager Darell came over to the sauna door and stated to his employee while pointing at me, "these animals don't know how to be patient and open it correctly and break it." I was absolutely shocked by this comment. It was highly unprofessional, disrespectful, and dehumanizing, especially coming from a manager speaking to paying members. I remained calm, but after being spoken to in that manner, I immediately went to the front desk to cancel both my sauna access and gym membership. Darell never apologized and instead was more antagonizing and rude and told me to "be a man" when I requested to cancel my membership. I remained composed, but given the severity of the interaction, I immediately proceeded to cancel both my sauna access and gym membership. No customer should feel demeaned or spoken down to when simply requesting assistance with malfunctioning equipment. After reading other reviews, it's clear this is not an isolated incident. Darell appears repeatedly mentioned as rude and problematic, which raises serious concerns about how this location is being managed. Someone with this attitude should not be in a customer-facing leadership role. How can someone call their own gym members animals? Fitness 19 corporate should seriously review this behavior. No member should ever be spoken to this way. I highly encourage you to take your business elsewhere. read more

The staff at the front desk are always on their phone and they pick and choose to who they say good morning to. The female manager one morning when I walked in looked at me and looked away... I can't imagine doing that at work, I would have been fired. She is sooooo friendly to the males who come in though... It's honestly not that bad for what you pay. It's clean, and has plenty of new equipment and machines to where you don't wait long, if at all, to get your workout in. They have signage encouraging clientele to clean equipment after use, and that appears to make a difference. Weights are always racked which is appreciated. I haven't noticed any class offerings, or even a space where they would hold these, but so far that seems to be the only thing missing that would complete the experience. read more

Disturbing and Unacceptable Conduct by Manager Darrel Heathco I've been a member of this gym for less than a week, and I already feel completely unsafe and disgusted by how manager Darrel Heathco handled a deeply inappropriate situation. While I was working out, I caught a man filming me without my consent. I immediately reported it to the front desk, and an employee asked me to discreetly point him out. After doing so, I was told the man is a volunteer who helps clean the gym. About 15 minutes later, the employee came back and told me the man is autistic and "probably didn't mean it." I explained that I work with autistic individuals and that filming someone without permission is never acceptable. He said he'd "talk to him," but I never saw any action taken. When I brought the issue to manager Darrel Heathco, his response was beyond inappropriate. Instead of addressing my concern seriously, he told me, "Well, you're very pretty, so you better get used to this." He then said he didn't want to "deal with an autism discrimination issue," as if that excused what happened. Let me be clear: autism is not an excuse for violating someone's privacy, and Darrel's attempt to use it that way was both ignorant and insulting. His comments were sexist, dismissive, and completely unprofessional. Rather than ensuring my safety or holding the man accountable, Darrel made me feel like I was the problem for speaking up. This was one of the most upsetting and disrespectful experiences I've ever had in a gym. If this is how management responds to members being filmed without consent -- by blaming the victim and protecting the volunteer -- then this place has a serious issue with leadership and accountability. Until Darrel Heathco is held responsible and proper policies are put in place, I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone -- especially women. No one should ever be treated the way I was. read more

Pros: Convenient location with ample parking (usually) and equipment in good condition. Clean facilities. Cons: 1. Clientele often lingers at the machines for long periods between reps, focused on their phones, hogging the machines even when they're not using the machine anymore. When you ask them nicely if they're done, they just look at you like you're crazy. Allowing this type of behavior to proliferate is going to kill this gym. Staff should really be training the clientele on gym etiquette. 2. One of the personal trainers, B, has an uncomfortable habit of stalking clients while they work out. She doesn't say anything to them directly but is always around, staring or crossing paths. She does this to my BF. He's too nice to say anything about it but it makes him feel uncomfortable. I have been visiting this gym for a couple of months, and I have enjoyed it so far. There are plenty of machines, weights, and equipment to try a variety of exercises, and I only had to wait for a little bit if one of them is taken. There are also lockers and showers, and also a sauna if you have the premium subscription. There are only classes during the weekdays (I have also heard that they no longer do classes anymore, but I am not sure if that is true), so if you value workout classes but have a 9 to 5 job, this may not be the place for you. But, if you don't care about that and like to do your own thing either with friends or by yourself, this place is perfectly fine. read more

This gym is nice, convenient, and affordable. The equipment is new and clean. There are many free weights, benches, cardio machines, and squat racks to use. I almost never have to wait for a machine for my workouts, especially when I go in the morning. I found the evening a little more crowded but there is still enough space and equipment available. For an extra charge, I saw classes being offered. The boot camp class I observed only had 4 participants so it was a small group. read more

We were so exited for the opening. Flirts day I registered my family and asked all my friends to join. I understand it is a new business and mistakes happens. but I did bring my concern about mold growth and shower maintenance to the owner and management: I even took photos and show them, next I walked them and pointed directly to the mold in the shower. Days later no action was taken. I love to having this gym in the community. I love to remove this negative review. I understand the price they charge is low but that does not excuse the business for operating an unhealthy environment. Please clean the shower, next day I will write a 5 star review. Why 2 star? This place's service was so rude. The employee was making my daughter stay at the wait place and he didn't even let her touch a step on the work out place. I was going to go workout with my son, my daughter was only a kid and she was forced to stay. He made me stay out with my daughter because she didn't have a pass . I couldn't go in, he said I have to buy one just to let my daughter watch us. She wasn't even going to go in to work out, but they still forced me to buy a pass for her. Been a member here since they opened and love it, but in recent months they stopped running the air conditioning and have just a few fans. It's not enough and uncomfortable. My husband and I have asked them to turn on the air, but front desk staff claims they don't have a key to turn it on. Seems unreasonable. It's almost like a sauna at times. I have to add my review after seeing the most recent. Exactly... gym etiquette is nil! Yesterday I watched 4 boys around the bench press. Three boys looked off in the distance talking while the 4th attempted to bench press the barbell with 4 45 pound plates. It was too much and I watched the bar drop as the plates began to slide off the end. No collars to hold the plates and not one of the 3 boys acting as a spotter. If you want to use a machine, you'll have to wait while the kid finishes the sets with at least a 5 min phone break in between. Head over to the benches next to the racked barbells and you'll see people parked (esp the adjustable incline benches) there for long durations. Yes, I'm 60.. I'm old, but I was one of the first generation of women lifting weights back in the mid- 1980s. I'm returning to weights and know what I'm doing and I'm there to get my workout done and want others to achieve the same. It's too bad, because it's a great gym that's clean with great equipment. read more

This place is great! Excellent prices, low initiation fee and central to PV. The thing I like most about this place is, it's new, which means it's clean. Of the 4x I've been here, there has always been a cleaning person wiping down machines or vacuuming the floor. The men's locker room is also very clean. This place is a great value and a gem. As for the setup, there is roughly 25% cardio machines including an ample stair stepper machines, as well as 2 fan bikes. 15% of the place is machine weights 50% of the work out area is free weights and quite a few squat racks with bumper plates. Lastly about 10% seems to be the class or stretch area. I have not tried the classes. The after school hours it's about 65% kids in there. During the mid morning, there's probably 30-40 people working out there, not alot of people. Overall I enjoy this gym and for the price and location, it's a keeper. read more

I've been working out at various gyms on a regular basis for the past 44 years. This is the wackiest one I've seen, and has provided me with unique experiences, due to the following: Some guy was working out with his dog the other day. The dog (appeared to be a Belgian malinois) sat at one piece of equipment while its owner used another. I've never seen a dog inside a gym. This one appeared not to be a service animal. A young female employee sternly told me not to "slam the weights" while I used a machine. I wasn't slamming the weights, but I was using most of the weight stack and it's difficult to make zero noise when using heavy weights. I am an older, experienced and very conscientious gym goer and I've never received any complaints in my decades of gym usage. I was somewhat taken aback and chose not to reply to the young employee. There are no paper towels in the restroom/locker room. You must go outside the locker room and into the gym, where there is a roll of towels. There are numerous televisions everywhere in the gym, including in the free weight area. It's a little distracting and I wish they were not there. It negatively impacted my workout when I saw on the TV that the stock market was down 850 points. I think I will go back to LA fitness, where there are no rules, but at least I won't be accosted by clueless employees nor fear unrestrained dogs roaming the gym. read more

My Dad has been a loyal member of Fitness 19 for some time now. He's 70 years old, an avid runner who clocked a 3:15 at the Boston Marathon and spends 3-4 hours a day at the gym. The gym is his sanctuary--a place where he resets, stays healthy, and keeps his body in peak condition. And for the most part, he has been treated well by the staff at Fitness 19. That is, until yesterday when he encountered the absolute embarrassment of an excuse for a manager: Darrell. After finishing a one-hour treadmill session, sweating like anyone during a workout, Darrell interrupted my Dad mid-session on the Stairmaster, asking if "everything was okay." My Dad, who is hard of hearing, replied that he was fine, only for Darrell to shame him in front of others by saying he was *concerned* about his sweat possibly damaging the machine. Really, Darrell? Are you serious? Let's get one thing straight: gym equipment is made to endure sweat--ever heard of stainless steel, powder-coated metal, or high-quality plastic? These machines are literally *designed* to handle moisture. And FYI, my Dad wipes down every machine after use, as gym etiquette dictates. Maybe you should focus more on customer care rather than making absurd claims about sweat-ruining machines. But here's the kicker--this wasn't about the machine, was it, Darrell? It was about publicly humiliating a 70-year-old man, treating him as though he was a child who couldn't follow simple gym rules. You targeted him for no reason, and it reeks of discrimination--whether it was because of his age, race, or both, your actions were despicable. Is Fitness 19 really the kind of place where the *manager* bullies paying members for sweating in a gym? Do you go up to every teenager or younger person sweating on the machines with the same ridiculous accusations, or did you single my Dad out because you could? Your behavior was not only unprofessional--it was disgraceful. People go to the gym to escape stress, not to be bullied by a so-called manager who has no concept of decency or respect. The fact that you care more about your precious machines than the human beings using them speaks volumes about your priorities and Fitness 19's overall culture under your leadership. My Dad is a regular, devoted gym-goer, and your treatment of him is unacceptable. We won't let this slide. The only silver lining in this incident was the young woman who had the decency to chase after my Dad as he grabbed his things to leave. She apologized on Darrell's behalf, showing more class, integrity, and empathy than you, Darrell, could ever dream of. She should be running the place--not you. I have a 24hr fitness membership but decided to take my wife in on a guest pass at fitness19 on a Saturday. At first we were amazed at all the NEW equipment & spacious floor layout. The place was clean and not busy at all for a Saturday morning. Then comes my first Monday workout at 215pm. The place is overloaded with rude teens who seem to be using the gym as an after school social hangout more than working out. I figured it may have been a one off and went in the rest of the week at the same time 215-300pm start & couldn't wait to rush through my workout to get out of there. The only reason why this is so upsetting is We specifically asked what are the busiest days and time and the employees who signed us up said this (Saturday am time) would be the busiest which it was indeed not. It's every single week day due to the high school being across the street. More than likely I will cancel & keep working out at 24hr fitness. Where most of the people who are there are in fact there to work out and not just hang and take up space and linger on machines. It's absolutely a joke. read more

If you get off work around 3-5 and want to get a workout in, avoid this place at all costs. All the equipment in the gym is great, the problem lies with the people there. There are many children from the local highschool that run around in the gym like it's a playground. There will literally be 4 kids sitting at one machine on their phones doing nothing. I also noticed that they like to play jokes by messing with people while they are lifting. This kind of environment is totally unacceptable in the gym and I'm hoping in the future people that are under 17 need to be accompanied by an adult. read more

I am very impressed with this new gym, Fitness19, in the PV /Rolling Hills area! I got the mailer early on in September and stopped by periodically to see how things were progressing cause I was not going to join a gym that was not open yet AND I wanted to be sure that before joining, it was a nice, new and in particular...CLEAN PLACE!! I have been going there for about two months now and am VERY happy! - equipment is new, fresh, cutting edge and well maintained. They had an issue with the hip abductor early on due to incorrect use. It was fixed quite quickly. - initially they did not have paper towels in the bathroom and I personally hate the blow hand dryers. Again, next thing I know there are hand towels available in the bathroom. -they have probably 8-10 Personal Trainers there that will take you through the machines as part of your orientation. This was very important for me because even though I used to use a lot of these machines years ago, I have not in a long time and many are totally new. My trainer was Martha Light. I chose her due to the really great educational background from UMASS Boston and her attitude toward fitness being for living a longer, happier and healthier life. I signed up for personal sessions and she is working with me gradually to maximize use of the sessions and my comfort with each exercise. -the manager, Darrell, is very approachable and his attitude toward the place, his clients and the staff is fantastic. I approached him to commend the EXCELLENT cleaning crew staff. They are always there when I am there and I am impressed with the work ethic and thoroughness of all four of them. I don't know her name, but there is a woman amongst the crew and wow is she great at paying attention to every detail. I love that! I have joined gym's in the past and am happy to be back and now using Fitness 19. To me, it is very much about your comfort level with the gym vibe but also HUGELY about the upkeep and cleanliness. Overall, an 'ok' experience. Very helpful and friendly staff, excellent machine and weight selection. Unfortunately, the locker room has been seriously neglected. Many in door locks malfunction and only three lockers accept personal locks. There are only three showers and all have issues (in one, a loose and very sharp drain cover will get them sued). Only one with a towel hanger. Worn out sink faucets and one lame blow dryer round out the substandard amenities. A true mess. read more
