I came here after bowling with the family and I was STARVING. I actually intended to go to Pelons Baja Grill but they were unexpectedly closed. I had heard of Five Boroughs and wanted to give it a try. I'm glad I did! The location is kind of small with about 5 tables. I got the lamb schwarma platter that came with the lamb, rice, hummus, and lettuce tomato and pickles. I didn't care for the pickles but everything else was to die for. They added some white sauce and asked if I wanted it spicy. I said only a little spicy but I didn't taste much spice at all. Next time I'll ask for a little more. I also ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and it tasted just like New York slices. I was very pleased with my meal and I will return! read more

The cabbage salad is a refreshing contrast to the perfectly cooked falafel. The hummus is smooth and flavorful. The rice is fluffy and fragrant.. and we seriously need a place like this in Virginia Beach! The staff was super friendly and helpful. I happened upon the Portsmouth location some months ago but didn't know the name of the dish I ordered there. They helped me figure it out and my tummy is so happy! NY city comes to Hampton Roads. From NY style pizza to Halal, this is a little known gem. Love it.

Being from the DC area, I had gotten used to the variety of middle eastern food options. Living in Norfolk for a few years, I missed that. That changed when Five Boroughs opened up on Colley. When they opened, I made it a priority to try out their options. I walked in and was immediately greeted by the staff and was offered a menu. They have the classic chicken shawarma and lamb shawarma which they were able to put in a pita, wrap, or platter. I chose the wrap, made it spicy, and got fries and a drink. They put the chicken on the grill which was an immediate plus for me because it meant my wrap was steaming even after I drove home to eat it. They assembled my chicken wrap with all the veggies and sauces and toasted it before packing it up with my fries. I left happy but curious as to what I had to eat. Spoiler alert: This story has a happy ending. I got home and took a bite and felt like I was back in DC at my favorite spot. The chicken was really good, cooked perfectly, and the veggies and sauces made the wrap one of the best I've had in a long time. The wrap was also huge so I was definitely full afterwards. The fries were solid and just like that Five Boroughs had a regular customer. Go into Five Boroughs and expect to leave satisfied and planning your next lunch break there. read more
