Being a born and raised SoCal resident, I should not say this but I am. I favor Five Guys over In-N-Out. However! If ever on a budget, I'll go to In-N-Out in a heartbeat! Five Guys is WAY overpriced for what you actually get. I've been to a few locations and it was always due to being in dire need of food. That's how I have to feel to pay the price for Five Guys. This visit on July 13th was one of those needs. The Restaurant: I went into this location for refuge from the heat. It was the closest place with working central air. The mall itself wasn't working well enough to cool my body temperature that kept rising. There were maybe six patrons and mostly empty tables. I was greeted by a nice young woman. While she took my order, some smiling man behind her was listening. It seems he took my order back to the "kitchen" before she could submit it and they started cooking right away. NICE! I stood near the pick-up section waiting for my food. Once it was done (maybe 8 or 9 minutes), I walked over to the only table that had vent-action near the window. The central air hit me so well as I prepared to dig into this expensively small meal. I was not offered a tray even though they knew I was eating inside. The table had crumbs from previous guests as did ONE of the four chairs. I used some napkins to wipe them down and took a seat. The Food: Well, again, I'm a fan of Five Guys' food. The cheeseburger with A-1 sauce, mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and grilled mushrooms was STACKED! Small, yet STACKED! The fries were greasy just like I like them to be and well seasoned. I bit into my well-done burger and juice flowed. It was so juicy and delicious. The combination of grease and A-1 sauce works well if you're not into healthy eating LOL. Overall Experience: As the cool air brought down my body temperature, I relaxed in the empty restaurant with a good meal, good music, and people watching outside the window. Before I left more patrons started to enter and fill up the place. Glad I was leaving as body heat would have interrupted my cool air experience. I left Five Guys upset I spent I spent over $15 for a cheeseburger meal, yet happy their central air was working for me to do it. This meal should have been $10 easy due to the grilled mushrooms even though they don't charge for them. The fact that the burger alone was $8.39 is a ripoff of sorts. The fries and all-you-can-drink soda were priced at the norm in my opinion. read more

Admittedly I'm obsessed with this place because of all the competitive eaters I watch on YouTube downing 5 burgers in under 10 minutes. There's just something about people stuffing an obscene amount of food in their faces that makes me want to eat out. I also became accustomed to their burgers thanks to it being a convenient option while I worked in Detroit. The moment after I had a fine employee construct a mushroom burger with extra cheese, I fell deeply in love. Now I'm well on my way to high cholesterol and diabetes. On that note, this is an extremely fine burger joint. Actually, in my humble opinion... this is the best burger place you can get for your money. I don't know what else you buy burgers with, but if it's money, I recommend Five Guys. If it's not money, please message me what you use for currency, I feel like I must have missed a class in economics, or sex Ed. Some may say these burgers are a bit pricey, and they'd be right. But you can get the burger any way you like it, and it's a very satisfying meal. I honestly have nothing to say that you haven't heart about great burgers... they're big and juicy and flavorful; you can taste every ingredient as it all melts into your mouth. It's a beautiful burger. The shakes are good too. I don't really like fries. The people who work there are more often than not... extremely friendly. That was confusing, let me word it another way... the people who work there are really nice. Cool. All in all if you're looking for a tasty place to get a burger... line up. Don't wait, call today... I visited this location and was greeted by very rude staff, well it was only one staff member who was rude, the others were complicit - it took the staff took about 10 seconds to even acknowledge I was at the register despite them seeing me when I came in the door. They just continued their conversation with their backs to me. The woman who took my order didn't respond when I said "hello how are you?" she just stared at me. I asked her if the burgers came with two patties - she just stared at me again, when I asked her to confirm and she raised her voice at me yelling that she "had shaken her head yes." Ok there is a good and bad side to this review. The Good: their burgers are BEYOND good and you can catch me here once or twice a month eating here. Their mushrooms are bomb, the fries are fresh and delicious, I love the free peanuts LOL The bad: The price is ridiculous, like it's good, but for that price.. OMG! If there is ever a Pepsi challenge with In n Out and Five Guys it will be tough to decide. This place always feels like home to me. As I walked up to the counter Juliana took my order and was incredibly welcoming. She had a smile on her face and customer service was her middle name. I ordered the cheeseburger with one patty. If you want to make your burger extra special order it "all in" with raw onions added on. Yes, I know you will have some kicking breath, but the burger will taste awesome. The meat patty was cooked to perfection. Robert was on the grill and he cooked it to perfection. I know who cooked it because as I walked out Robert said good bye to me. I also ordered a bacon cheese hot dog. Which I had split in half so that I can share with my friend. I love their take on how a hot dog is served. The hot dog is sliced in half and is served on a hot dog bun sandwich style. I recommend you order it "all in." Now I usually have fries which are very good, but decided not too this time. I highly recommend the fries. This was the ideal meal before we headed off to see a movie. The location of this Five Guys is perfect. Right at the front of the mall. This is a pretty good Five Guys location, its right by the mall which makes it very convenient only if you're going to the mall. Parking in this area is nightmarish. This place has relatively quick service too compared to other Five Guys locations, specifically I am comparing this to the Five Guys location in Garden City, NY. The one in NY is in a shopping center that has easier parking, however the service at this one is quicker, so pick your poison. The one in NY has a similar layout, but this one is better by virtue of being in Burbank, CA, an area that I simply like better. read more

Only reason for 2 stars is the amount of fries they gave us. Unfortunately they were cold and soggy. We ordered for curbside pickup and one reason was the website stated they would make the French fries and shakes once you arrive to pick up the order. We live at most 5-8 minutes from this location and when my husband returned the shakes were like water, fries cold and soggy and the burgers buns were overly soggy like everything had sat there for a long time. I have no doubt the order was made immediately and sat there for 15-20 minutes. You ask how is that possible we live 5 minutes from the location. Well my husband did not leave immediately because he thought they would prepare most of the meal when he arrived. Finally tried this spot and it was bomb! It's a nice clean spot. The guy who took my order was super nice and patient with me, lol. I LOVED THE CAJUN FRIES AND OREO SHAKE SO MUCH!! Five guys satisfies my burger craving and fries. This location is not the best i ever had but it's definitely the closest I had to my location. Juicy burger with so much flavor and their Cajun fries to die for. Tip: if your TWO eating there, order the LARGE Cajun fries for both of you (best for your $$$) Judging by some reviews below your burger can be a hit and miss depending on whose working the shift, however in the 10+ times I have been there I never experienced this. First time there, ordering a bunless burger. Host named Tomika quickly lost patience with me as I was unfamiliar with the menu. We were both masked and she had to repeat herself a few times which clearly caused her aggravation. All other employees were kind and the young guy handing me my food must of noticed our transaction and was super kind when I picked up, ensuring I had everything I needed. Great place. Food was awesome. But I would recommend putting someone else at front of house. Maybe someone more patient that can clearly explain the menu and how it works if it is their first time. I have eaten at the FG Burger an Fries in Atlanta many times and it was fabulous which is why I am perplexed that this meal was just 'meh'. I really enjoyed this place. I came here alone for a cheeseburger loaded. It came out to 11 bucks and some change . The cashier was patient while I looked over the menu. I love this location for Five Guys and just around the corner goes into the Burbank Town Center. I rarely get the burgers because I tried burgers at other Five Guys in the past and they are good and a bit pricey. I mainly order the large cajun fries to go, 1 order is a snack, and 2 cajun fries is a meal. Sometimes I order a drink but also rarely because I go elsewhere for that. When you are waiting for your food, there is always the free unlimited peanuts to sample through. I noticed this location, guests would pick up their to go orders and then pack it with the small paper trays filled with peanuts into their bags before leaving. Well I guess fresh peanuts all the time, no stale ones. I would binge on 3 to 4 small paper trays of peanuts before even getting my food sometimes but also sharing with friends. You have to be that person who's eating peanuts, then others will join and eat peanuts. If no one is eating peanuts then others will be hesitant. read more

Bathroom had no hot water, and litter on floors. Overflowing trash containers. Was there for 45 minutes, on a Monday night, with very little foot traffic. There were 4 or 5 employees, and not one person bothered to clean. Food Quality: 2 Fries were the best thing we ordered, and still just "okay". Burger completely fell apart. Oversatured with mayo, as if it were ordered with extra mayo (it was not). Taste was average, on par with any other burger chain, nothing special. Shake was terrible. I'll be super honest. I love In-N-Out, BUT I was really excited to try Five Guys because of all the rave about it! First let me say, it didn't smell so great in there.. Maybe it was the Cajun fries seasoning, but it wasn't pleasant to smell. Second, why so expensive? $7 for a BURGER? And no fries?! What?? Our order was one cheeseburger, one hamburger, one little cheeseburger and one chocolate shake. The total was $25. And last but not least, the burger itself, tasted like I made it at home (wasn't that bad), but it was HUGE and a big mess to eat. I'd rather go to In-N-Out, pay less, eat cleanly, and get some fries while I'm at it. The bread was squishy and soggy, and didn't hold anything together. Fries were good...but between me and my daughter I spent $28 for the meal...the same/similar meal at In N Out would have been about $17. As a value proposition, I won't go back. Overall, I'm just not that impressed with Five Guys. I've had their burgers on two different occasions, and both times made me want In n Out. That's not to say that their burgers are bad, or that their establishment is trash, I just prefer the California staple. This 5 Guys is perfectly located close to all the main shopping and the movie theaters. Their spot is clean, and has the same throwback 50's burger joint vibe that in n out does. The biggest issue for me is that they just don't do it as well. Plus, In N Out is cheaper! Their basic cheeseburger is automatically about 4 dollars more than In n Out, and that's sans special sauce. They do have those newfangled Coke machines where you can create your soda, like cherry root beer and my personal fave, Vanilla coke, but ultimately, 5 Guys just falls short for me. I used to think that In n Out was the best burger joint in town until I decided to give Five Guys a chance when they opened in Burbank. Five Guys burgers have a way better flavor than In n Out, hands down. I tried to go back to In n Out and I felt jipped because the flavor wasn't there, it was bland. I love that Five Guys gives you free peanuts while you're waiting for your food to be ready. Also, their dining area is always clean and I really enjoy the set-up because it gives a nice view of the Downtown Burbank area. I love that the managers address concerns immediately and are always very friendly and caring, they even follow-up. It's really outstanding service. The fries and shakes are great too! the fries are always super fresh and they have awesome shake flavors to choose from. Also, I appreciate that they offer lettuce wrapped burgers! I've had their hot dogs too and they're delicious! In all honestly that was unexpected because they mostly deal with burgers, it was a nice surprise. Lastly, my favorite thing about Five Guys is all the toppings they offer on their burgers, they literally have just about everything. Not many places offer as many choices as they do. It's great! I just don't like the fact that I have to come up with my own toppings. I am not a chef and by all means don't know what goes well with what. I mixed a bunch of stuff and it tasted okay. I'd prefer the chef put the burger together for me. I'd rather go to In-n-Out for a burger. I did like the fries however, much better than In-n-Out. Another issue is their price. $13 for a single cheeseburger, fries, and a drink???? Really? Costs less than half as much at In-n-Out. I was SO looking forward to Five Guys. I was about to treat myself to a new place, and bring my girlfriend home some food as well. Too bad their crew was so indifferent. I asked the first crew member I met for someone who was expert in making sure my girlfriend's food was safe (she's got Hashimoto's, so no gluten or dairy at an allergy level), and got an "uhhhh...I don't, uhhhhh...." And I knew I was in trouble. I asked for my fries to be well done, and when asked "For here or to go?" I responded "For here." When they brought my bag of food to the counter, I said, "I'd asked for my food for here." The crew member said, "we bag everything to go." I asked why I was asked my preference. Another "uhhhhhh..." The fries were thrown into their cup as well as into the bag, covering my wrapped burger. Not sure if this is something they think is awesome, but clawing past a mess of greasy fries to try to retrieve my burger wasn't pleasant. But I'm getting ahead of myself. When I got my food, I looked in the bag at the fries. They were not even close to being well done, so I asked that they cook them a bit longer. They said "That's our well done" I then asked again, and they said "if you want to wait, we'll make some more." I said that I'd just like mine cooked longer. They said no, they couldn't do that. I left the counter defeated. I decided right then and there that I wasn't about to trust these guys with a food allergy order. My rescued my burger, and I guess it was OK, but only had a bite of it before I decided that this wasn't the place for me. So I left, and my girlfriend picked me up from the Five Guys and we went to in-and-out instead. I can't wait for Steak and Shake to open in December. Maybe it was that it was a Sunday night, and B squad was on duty, but everyone that works there needs to be trained on how to not only make sure customers are food-allergy-safe, but also in how to deal with customers to help them feel safe and taken care of. I lived in Florida for a bit and this was one of the restaurants that I frequented (along with Chik Fil A and Steak & Shake), and when I moved to California, I knew those were the three fast-food restaurants I was gonna miss most. So when I saw this particular location open, I praised the heavens because I no longer have to travel too long to get my Five Guys fix (now I hope Chik Fil A comes to Burbank too). I've been to this location a few times, and for the most part I was satisfied with everything and it all lived up to the way it is on the east coast. However, there was one time that I had just come in to order Cajun fries and it took them more than fifteen minutes to give me my order due to a confusion amongst the staff members. Prices were on the upper side (more then In-n-Out ) , but really wanted to try this place out . As we waiting for our food to get ready, the place has A lot of noise pollution . I'm not expecting it to be dead silence , but I did have to lean over to hear my friend talk . I went here yesterday around 345 pm I witnessed a homeless person coming in asking for food while I was enjoying my delicious burger (the bacon was awesome btw )but this manager by the name of will ( I asked an employee there what his name was) was snapping his fingers an yelling loud and being rude and everyone was looking how mean this guy was to this poor homeless man who was obviously down on his luck! I can't believe this man had no feelings! There's no need to speak to homeless people this way! He could of been nice and pulled him to the side and said leave or give him a hot dog! I was in when you opened and I loved it. Then I went a few month later still loved it. I still love the food BUT NOW YOUR SERVICE SUCKS and some little dissapointments . And I mean it really sucks ... we ordered 3 ppl on 2 ordering numbers ... the earlier one were not even called when we finished the half of our order. The I went up to ask for the forgotten one and was told it was delayed because of priorities ... REALLY?!?
