I love five guys! The burgers are kind of small so you need double pattie, but the best part is being able to add lots of optional toppings. Their fries are better than most places'. Free peanuts are great, too, although I don't eat much of those. This location in Burlingame is nicer and more spacious than the one in Tanforan. I'm as rebellious as the next guy, but how the hell does anybody, except perhaps a deeply suicidal 13-year-old consume food listening to this mess? It's freaking LOUD! I have been here a total of maybe 2 or 3 times and I thought it was me just having gone in while I was sick, tired, and/or having a bad day. However, after reading other reviews I see that maybe it isn't just me? The cashiers I have encountered have always been rude and not helpful. Today, the guy apparently didn't hear what I said so he he says something which I couldn't hear, so I replied "excuse me?" Then, he yells "WHAT???" Very unprofessional and definitely all the cashiers I've encountered there seem they'd rather be somewhere else. However, kudos to all the people fulfilling all the orders. My cherry just got popped when I finally ate at the new Five Guys Burger in Burlingame. And being located a block away from busy Burlingame Ave. and located near Burlingame High (located not far & on the other side of the Cal Train Station), the newest burger joint is another popular hangout for the younger crowd. There was a long line. While waiting in line, we can snack on the free shelled-peanut. It is a kind of bad idea to offer the free nuts to the young kids. These young kids crack the shells and toss the shells everywhere except in the garbage can. I even see the empty shells thrown back in the same bin. I would hate to imagine how the kids live at home. From the menu, there are no combo meals and every item is sold separately. And for $7.29, I get the Bacon Double Cheeseburger. You can also request any or all toppings available in your burger. I had to see what the big deal was! So he & I went on Sunday which was a few days after their grand opening. Same color scheme as In N Out, but this ain't no In N Out! This location is tiny, the line and wait were both long too. Since there wasn't enough seating we decided to bring it back to his place. I ordered the Little Cheeseburger (with grilled mushrooms and grilled onions)& he ordered the Cheeseburger. I thought the Little Cheeseburger would have just been a smaller burger; turns out it's a one patty burger and the regular burgers have two. Prime example of American obesity, right?! We hate how they squish down on their burgers!! I was sick so I couldn't taste all too much, but bf told me I wasn't missing out on much. My burger didn't taste that juicy but it was most likely do to the fact that they squished em down. I can't believe Zagat rated Five Guys highly for their burgers! As for the fries, a regular size can feed at least three people. We decided to try both the cajun and regular fries. Both fries are very potatoey & lack crispiness. While I was having the child put the lid on their drink then straw in on their own for skill building, an employee leaned over the counter where we were standing and said "she is like my daughter who is neurotic also". I am and was in complete shock that this person said this. I had another child with me and didn't make a scene or say anything to this employee. I stopped by Five Guys for lunch during their grand opening. I'm an In-N-Out loyalist, but I have to say that despite the similar decor and cups, the similarities end there. Their "regular" burger is really a Double Burger, which is cool if you're into that. I thought I would be, but in the end I think I should've settled for a "small" burger with a single patty. Seriously, 5 Guys Corporate SUCKS. That aside, the menus are deceiving. The regular comes with two patties and the "little" ones are with one patty. I only knew this since I overheard someone exclaiming that their burger was too big when they ordered the standard. Portions are large so the little burger was more than plenty for me. I love how I can have grilled mushrooms and grilled onions added onto my burger as part of the burger price. Cajun fries had delicious flavoring along with the all you can eat peanuts and the magic Coke machine. Fries could be a bit crisper since they were kind of gummy and mushy. Staff was super friendly and helpful; majorly docking stars for the horrendous representation of their corporate office and local management. After saying quite confidently yesterday that fast food would never score above three stars for me, we stumbled across Five guys... We had an hour or so to kill before flying back to the UK, and it being lunch time we thought "BURGER TIME"! We parked up outside (across the street, right outside Anthropologie) for free (Sunday) and ordered cheese burgers, fries (1 Cajun, 1 not) and a large drink. The drink was fun - they have touch screen machines with over 100 beverages to choose from (lime fanta, thank you) and free refills too. You can self serve monkey nuts whilst you wait for your burger. This is an excellent gimmick and I just wish I wasn't so full from the burger so I could have enjoyed more (they were delicious). The kids that were there were having a great time scooping the nuts into the little paper bowls. The food came when it was ready - not quickly, but this was reassuring (my burger was cooked fresh, not sat under a heater waiting for me to order it), it came wrapped in foil and then in a brown paper bag. The ordering is pretty cool, I forgot to mention - you order all your fillings/toppings separately. The mayo, mustard, tomato, grilled pepper, onion, pickle, lettuce combo was a winner & I was assured by the husband that the BBQ sauce was good too. Anyway, we opened up our foil and took a bite and it was like angels sang. This is officially the best burger I have ever had, the husband thought so too (and we've had a lot of burgers). Everything about it was perfect, right down to the melted cheese (I think the foil helped with this part?). The fries were okay. Not amazing, but okay. We got the little portions and they were still too big for us, we would share one next time. They are tasty, don't get me wrong, but they didn't compare to the burger in niceness. Great to see this chain open up nearby. Not the best damn burger but definitely a great backyard burger taste. The sliced green peppers, mushrooms, and jalapenos are what draws me here besides the cajun fries. Only con about the burger at this location is that it's really messily put together. Wait wasn't too bad despite the time and size of this place, but they seriously need another soda and water machine. Sure they look cool with the abundance of flavors, but if you have one machine for both water and soda. But having it RIGHT NEXT to the waiting area, it's quite a mess. The female cashier, who was doing nothing but standing there, sends us to the 'new guy'. 'New guy' got the order wrong and did not know to give me a receipt for my credit card purchase. Tables were dirty and we had to ask someone to clean it. The employee was standing right there staring at it. There are a lot of employees but many of them are just standing around. What's so special about this place? These five guys have been popping up everywhere. I tried them when they first opened and the line was out the door so I had to see what all the hoopla was about with the latest chain craze and I was not impressed. I still don't get it. Ok so you get AYCE peanuts. That's nice... if I were an elephant... but I'm not and I don't like peanuts at all. So it's a burger joint. Is it insanely inexpensive? No, not that much cheaper than your other burger joint. Is it insanely good? No, it tastes just like a regular burger. Anything that sets them apart that would keep me coming back over and over again? No, not really... 3 stars because there wasn't anything bad about it, but at the same time, nothing necessarily good about it that made it extra special. Average, a-ok, whatever. read more

The Manager is the most rude and violent person. He took my order wrong. Then when I told him they didn't put the toppings on my burger and the bun was soggy. He started asking me what my problem was and questing me. I asked him for his name but he wouldn't give it to me. In and out is way better and friendly staff. I will never go to 5 guys again. Count me among those who love the fries, like the burgers (when they get it right - around 70% of the time) and loathe the experience. When did hanging cheap magazine reviews from 10-20 years ago become OK decor? The place makes McDonalds feel like a you're getting a premium experience. The line to order is usually painless but the wait for the order to come out is typically 20+ minutes. This might be OK if the restaurant's environment was even modestly appealing. Instead they've found a way to blare a mediocre rock playlist through the worst sounding speakers imaginable. So now they've affronted my visual senses with ugly cookie cutter self-promotion and my aural senses with ruined music played too loud through an inferior system. But wait, there's more. No good kid's options - no sliders, truly awful grilled cheese, weird hot dogs. No salads or vegetables (except as toppings) - I know, it's a burger place and I'm fine with that being the focus, but any monkey should be able to serve up pre-made salads. Note how Pizza My Heart handles salads - easy, quick, fresh and pre-made. Recent visit found nearly every table vacant and filthy for the entire 25 minutes while we waited for our order. Floors were sticky throughout the restaurant. Nearly all patrons were there to pick up DoorDash or carry out - having likely come to the same conclusion that the experience inside this echoey shoe box is tantamount to torture. I just left there. I told the cashier and the chief multiple time please don't put bacon in my burger. I even told them that I can't eat it if it even touch it! They gave me my order and said to not worry they made a whole new one. and I was eating and I saw the bacon inside!!!!! It's so disrespectful for my religion to do that, especially when I said it a lot of time!!! I'm so disappointed. read more

Really good cooked to order food, the fries are amazing and they give you like 8lbs of them. Great customer service too. The manager Antonio is always smiling and on top of his game whenever I come by. Definitely recommend eating there, then going on a 10 mile run to burn the calories. ‍ read more

My work orders take out for dinner several nights a week and we try to find restaurants that have online ordering and easy pick up service. Five Guys has a very easy online ordering system where each person can individually order their meal and pay for it online. I picked up 6 orders tonight and only had to wait about 5 mins for the orders to be ready. Each order is individually packed and labeled with the persons name. The food is still hot 10 minutes later!! Great location, great service!! Will continue to go here for dinner!! PS. Two of my co workers ordered hot dogs and said they were delicious. Will be trying the hot dogs next time!! read more

Went here for the first time to check it out. Ordered the most basic hamburger and decided to add ketchup and mustard like I do with most hamburgers I order. BIG MISTAKE. It was nice that they gave you 2 patties instead of one but that's where the positives ended. I didn't order it 'to go' but maybe that's how 5 Guys serves all of their burgers, wrapped tightly in tin foil. The problem with that is when I immediately unravelled the foil, what I got was a big soggy mess. There was so much ketchup the whole hamburger was drenched in it and it tasted like I was eating a tomato sandwich with boiled meat. Worse hamburger I've eaten in a long time and to make matters worse, it cost 6 more dollars than the basic 'In and Out' burger which taste much better and much fresher. Seems like they spend a lot of effort on advertising inside the restaurant telling people how great their stuff is, ironically 'In and Out' does very little of that, they don't have to...... read more

Was there around 6pm and parked right in front at a meter. The music was just right. I guess management put a stop to the head banger music. I think my burger beat all other burger places I've eaten at. My 10 year old puts it in 3rd place, but she put the fries in 1st place. read more
