Five Guys to me started the realization you can get a fast food consistency but with a better quality burger.   Your are going to be waiting longer than a drive through, but you watch it made in front of you and the process you can tell is not just something nuked and slapped together. I am always a bigger fan of the fries than the burgers though.  The bun usually gets crushed, and with so many other quality burger joints chaining out now, I usually don't look to Five Guys as my first choice.  I will say I do like their fries more than most other places, but the side is never the reason I show up to a place in the first place. As Five Guys goes this location is decent.  Nothing stands out from the others I've been to. Everything came out as expected, and delivered on my Five Guy expectations. read more

Food was good, a bit of a wait but they were very busy so I can't complain or fault them for that. Nothing to write home about but nothing negative about the visit or the food. They were not stingy with the food either, gave plenty to eat and I was very impressed and appreciative. Some complain when they can't finish their meal because their bellies are not able to handle it but when I eat out or pay for takeout, I personally much rather have more than I can eat than not enough so my body is still craving for food read more

Yelled, made faces at customers, kicked yellow floor cone into our table on purpose, grabbed at the straw in my drink, slapped her arms across our table, made a mess of drink lids, totally out of control. pestered employees who very obviously were annoyed with her. I am so sick of cooking at home. I have made three meals per day for the past 250 days, give or take a few. I have ordered restaurant food, that I have then brought home to eat, a total of 3 times in the past 9 months. Based on their advertised conscientiousness around Covid as indicated on their website, I decided to give Five Guys a try. Before today, I had only vaguely heard of Five Guys before, and I had no idea what kind of food they served. The first thing that I noticed about their website was that their fries are handcrafted. It sounded like they were really something special, so I wanted to try them. It was a bit of a journey to find the Five Guys' menu and pricing on the website, without actually beginning to place an order. So, I began an order, just to see what kind of food they had at Five Guys. It looked like burgers, fries, and shakes, with little else on offer. I was ecstatic to see that I had the ability to have curbside delivery. In these pandemic times, it is very important to me that I not come into contact with humans or any stagnant air breathed by them. I have been meticulous in my self-quarantine and have not been in the presence of another human for months at a time. I had to leave my home to mail some holiday cards today, and so I drove to Five Guys right after. From the parking lot, I called up the website on my phone. After dodging the rigamarole to avoid installing an app on my cellphone - I'm most definitely not doing this for a place where I have never eaten, and a place which I had barely even heard of before today, I placed my order. I went with the "most popular" Bacon Burger, Regular Fries, and a shake. I really like the way Five Guys allows the customer to choose which toppings, and in what quantity, they want on their burger. I got a number of standard toppings- ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc. I was notified that my order would be ready in ten minutes. The indicator on my cellphone notified me that my order was being prepared. I sat outside where I could see inside the building. There was a long line of customers, 8 in total, who appeared to be waiting inside. Two parties of three people each were also dining inside the location. After a few minutes, an employee came to the parking lot with a container of food that he delivered to the vehicle parked next to me. The indicator on my cellphone still notified me that my order was being prepared. People came and went. Three individuals and a pair of customers entered the restaurant. From my spot in the parking lot, it was unclear as to what was going on. It seemed like many people were ordering, eating, and waiting, as if we were not in the midst of a pandemic. After 20 minutes, the indicator on my cellphone notified me that my order was still being prepared. I noticed there was a separate link on my phone to check on my order. I clicked on it and it said, "If you have not received your order by now, contact Five Guys." Ugh. My dilemma was that I had taken what I thought was every precaution against human contact and now there were 20+ people (counting 7 staff members) inside Five Guys and I was being instructed to 'contact' the staff inside. It was with extreme apprehension that I entered the building. If I thought I could have held my breath for a long time, I would have done so. At the ordering counter, I told a staff member I was there to pick up an order. He asked my name, but they had no such order from me. After some confusion, exacerbated by the blaring music which made it nearly impossible to hear anything, it was determined that the order was placed from my email address, (which does not contain my name). And my order was not yet ready. My absolute worst case scenario played out as I had to wait in a closed room with 20+ people. I was furious. Not only do these shenanigans hurt your business, Five Guys, but they hurt every other restaurant that is trying to stay afloat while they serve customers during the pandemic. Conscientious diners will not tolerate this. Eventually, I got my order and brought it home to eat, after disinfecting every inch of my hair, skin, and clothing. The fries were disappointingly scant, limp, and greasy. The burger was delicious, although so soupy that the top half of the roll was disintegrating, but I will cut it some slack and attribute any of that to my topping choices. The shake was fantastic. Now, I'm just waiting for 336 hours to make sure I didn't contract Covid during this escapade. If you're reading this and thinking, "this person really shouldn't leave her house, if she's that paranoid about the pandemic," I'd have to agree with you. I would be extremely hesitant to order food from a restaurant again until I have been inoculated with a well-tested vaccine against Covid. We have Five Guys to thank for that. I have learned that no matter what a restaurant's website says to assure its patrons about pandemic precautions, it's not worth the risk to my sanity. read more

Absolutely love these guys!! I get a lettuce bun for my delicious burger. The cheese flavor works perfectly with the grease from the burger. My husband and I order a small fry and share it. They take a cup and fill it with fries and dump into a bag and fill it again. Very crispy. They are a bit expensive but the flavor is worth it. Dining room and bathrooms are always clean. read more

To get any fresher or tastier, you'd have to make the burger yourself! I'm trying to get healthy after a long time of ignoring my health, yet a good burger is always a guilty pleasure that's hard to resist , and 5G's gives me an excuse/rationale to enjoy something that, if not 'evil', is at least 'chaotic neutral' (to use an old D&D term, dear Og I'm old... ;) ) I choose their "little" (a definite misnomer, as it's the size of a Wendy's burger, with a slightly thicker patty of hand formed ground beef) burger, no cheese, and load up the veggies, lettuce, tomato, grilled onions and mushrooms, and whatever else fits my fancy at the moment, add ketchup and mustard (I will defend mustard on a burger to the death! :) ) and wait for a rapidly processed order delivered with a friendly smile, the only downside to one of these burgers is the bun tends to absorb the 'juices' a little more rapidly than I'd like and go a little mushy, forcing a little faster eating rate than I'd prefer. No need to get fries (a pity as they're amazing, but not ideal for my trying to be good, fries push the alignment of the meal to 'Chaotic Evil' no matter how delicious they are...) as the free peanuts serve the same purpose, but without as much fat as the fries (just sodium). The layout of the store is clean, understated, and functional, dominated by the grill, where you can watch your burger being assembled with care, with simple but functional seating along the wall and in the front middle, walls decorated with a red and white checkerboard and their (well deserved, IMHO) review articles, it's warranted, but it does seem a little self-aggrandizing, they have every right to brag and "wave their flag", but it can come off a little tacky... ;) Just let the food do the talking, you don't need to brag! ;) Highly recommended! read more

We got a gift card here as a gift and I finally used it for takeout. Inside was clean, staff was upbeat and courteous. Fries were soooooo greasy. I brought home those and 2 burgers and air fried it all. Fries better! Burgers not bad, typical. Prices are ridiculous for that food. I get a double stuffed oreo shake here and it's pure sweet oreo perfection. Pretty good value for the money too and you can have any of their mix ins put into your shake for the same cost. Three States, Three Five Guys and Still NOT Impressed. I have eaten and drank at 5 Guys in Columbia, Maryland, Boston, Massachusetts and Amherst, New Hampshire. All pretty much the same. Staff is usually pretty nice. Low paid workers, working their butts off... for very little wages. (Typical, of US businesses, today). I do not like their burger meat, too gritty. Like a McDonald's Quarter Pounder (gritty, fatty, and salty). The milkshakes are nice, especially with Malted. I hate 5 Guys - French fries. Squishy, gushey, under cooked, mushy and oily. Lived all my life on the west coast where in-n-out was the place to go and since there is none here, I Decided to give this place a try and wasn't disappointed. I got a little burger, little fries, and shake. The burgers are excellent and are well done; and are a good portion size especially if ya like to eat a lot. the fries are home made and taste excellent, but I would get the regular size fries, as there's not much with the little fries and the shakes are just wonderfully delicious! I would definitely stop by anytime of the day just to get the shakes! So good. Staff is really friendly and the place is clean. Prices are pretty reasonable as well. With their food, you taste the quality that goes into it and you don't feel yucky afterwards as you do with other fast food chains. I'm overall annoyed w the experience today and I'm not one to really ever write a negative review. I got fries and ordered them at about 11:20 for curbside, they tried to bring them out once and the kid looked around for a hot second before heading back inside. I waited thinking maybe they'd send someone else out but nah I called at 11:55 and asked for them to be remade( as they get kind of gross sitting on the heater for an hour?) They came out a prompt 4 minutes later, undercooked and very much not remade. Had lunch here yesterday, when we walked in there were only two people in the whole place, and they were having lunch as well. There was no one at the counter, no one at the grills, no employees in sight, we made it to the counter before a man walked out through the back doors, we said "hello" and he mumbled something to us before turning around to put gloves on. He then came to the register, mumbled something again that we could not understand, so we decided to just tell him our order. We ordered two burgers, two drinks and a fry. I asked if they could make the fries crispy and he said "No!" Quite rudely, and then pointed off to the right and again mumbled something about "next week". Whatever that meant, we're not sure, but "No" and "next week" were the only two things we understood from this man, maybe an English and Customer Service class are in order for "Shirley." As soon as we paid, "Shirley" went back to where he was before we got there and he sent another man out to do the cooking. One of the MAIN reasons we go here is because they have the cool Coca Cola machines where you can add flavors to your drinks, I always get Raspberry Vanilla Coke. Both machines were completely out of flavoring, ALL flavors, not just the ones I wanted, but all of them! I was pretty disappointed. Burger heaven. The burgers are perfect. The fries are perfect. Call ahead to get your food moments after you arrive. Online/app orders work, too, but calling is way easier. I love the hundreds of fountain soda choices (I like caffeine-free Diet Coke at night, and Coke Zero during the day, Most restaurants serve neither). Best burger east of In-N-Out. I KNOW. It's that good. Oh, if you have a peanut allergy, just opening the door will probably kill you. Peanuts and shells everywhere, and fries are made in peanut oil. More burgers for the rest of us! I am a little confused about the other reviewers complaining about the prices. They are a tiny bit steep, but really, they are almost exactly what you would pay "a la carte" at Wendy's or (yuck) Burger King. And did anyone mention the portion sizes? My girlfriend and I usually split one regular size order of fries. It fills us up easily, as one regular order is about the size of two large orders from BK or Wendy's. And, you know, are 100 times yummier. Also, I am a PIG. I eat a LOT. I once did not finish a regular order of fries here due to being full. This has never happened to me before. Ever. The burgers are huge, too. And again, a Baconator is $6. So is a Bacon Burger at 5 Guys. 100 times yummier. Will it cost a dollar or two more than other chains? Maybe. But it tastes $100 better. AWESOME place to get a burger and fries! It's straight up awesome-ness. This is s hearty burger, and serious fries, my advice will be to go hungry and also if you have a smartphone order using the FIve Guys app. We went to Five Guys this past Saturday, and it just opened last Wednesday, so we knew it would be very busy. By using the app and ordering ahead, even by just 30 minutes, we were able to bypass the very long order line, and the very long pick-up line. We just went right to the pick up side, gave our name and our order was up next. The "little cheeseburger" is the single patty burger and PLENTY for an average adult. The regular cheeseburger is TWO patties. We had 3 people in our party, we all had the 'little" burger and we shared 1 large fry. There were so many fries that even between the 3 of us, we couldn't finish them. For the money, it's very decent food and a good value, but it's the kind of place where you will be in and out quickly, not a place to sit for very long. It is loud inside, and brightly lit. We enjoyed taking our food outside and eating in our car. We were so full afterwards. I could not eat this food very often. Maybe a few times a year. It's heavy. This is one of the best chain burger restaurants on the planet. Only Fuddruckers and In-N-Out Burger even come close. I always get a hamburger with lettuce, onions, pickles and grilled green peppers. The peppers are the key - try 'em! The fries are not always cooked thoroughly though. While I normally am not a big fan of chain restaurants, Five Guys is one I am willing to make an exception for. They never fail to please with their incredibly fresh ingredients (the stores do not have freezers in them at all, all of the beef is fresh). This particular location is new and at 1 pm on Sunday it was completely packed, but even with a line out the door when I showed up, I don't think I was there for more than 20 minutes. These guys really know how to make a burger, fresh meat, fresh ingredients, no frills, just let the burger speak for itself. If you're more of a hot dog fans, those are actually quite good too. I personally go for the cheeseburger "all the way" (except mayo). One side note, if you have a gluten allergy, while they don't have a gluten free bun option, they are well trained to handle your concerns. If you ask for a burger with no bun, they first ask if it is due to an allergy (in ~5 times ordering this way at various locations, they have never failed to ask this question) and if you say yes they holler out for the line cooks to change gloves and pay attention every step along the way to make sure there is no cross contamination. When in doubt, if there's a Five Guys in the area, you know you can get a good meal. My one advice though, if your party is four or less, you can probably get by on just one large fry (they give a ton and they are excellent!). read more

On Sunday, 9/2/12, my husband and I decided to visit the Dover location. We were excited as we had heard good things from friends who had been to other locations. Walking through the door, the first thing I saw was an open box of peanuts. There was no allergy warning on the door. As we waited in line, we were standing next to bags of potatoes, gallons peanut oil, and more open peanuts. I was not impressed. You couldn't see the menu until you were standing at the register. Placing my order was a challenge because I was competing with the cashier next to me yelling the number of patties needed on the grill. There was not a designated waiting area to wait for our food. We waded through people to get to the soda machine and the garbage can. It was extremely noisy. The music was so loud that I left with a headache. We paid roughly $24 for a regular bacon burger, a small bacon burger, large fry and 2 large sodas. For a takeout restaurant, this was expensive. For a few dollars more, we could've had table service at one of the restaurants in the area. We each ordered onions on burgers to find out that they were cooked. I scraped mine off my bun. I'm not sure that I would go back anytime soon. read more

The burgers and fries are definitely better than average for a fastfood restaurant. The quality is outstanding. I will try a burger with less condiments and extras next time so I can taste the burger more next time. Note: Very Messy!! They, certainly, give a lot of fries with each order. I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of my burger the next day that I was unable to finish the previous day. My family enjoyed the left over fries, as well. I thought the burger tasted better the 2nd day! While the quality and taste was better than Wendy's, Burger King, McDonald's, etc., it did not come close to Wild Willy's burgers. Five Guys definitely has the best fries, though. After being on Yelp for a while I decided to take a chance and do a review. This is Yelp after all! Now comes the big question... Five Guy or In-N-Out?? For me, this place is no comparission to In-N-Out burger wise. The very similar décor with the unnecessary piles of peanuts ever where made me feel like I was cheating on my West Coast Burger Boyfriend with it's creepy cousin. The burgers were way too crumbly, and seemed to fall apart as I took bites. Nothing like the juicy burgers from home. The gem in this join was their nifty soda machine, I've heard of these but never had the privilege of using one. So I mixed and matched to my hearts content. Fiancé had to pull me out. SHHH don't tell In-N-Out, but I liked Five Guy fries loads better! Add on they give you a heap!. But this California girl misses her animal style! GREAT SERVICE THOUGH.
