Caveat: I generally don't do chain restaurant reviews, but with all the attention Five Guys (and Wendy's) has received from the questionable customer price gouging, I decided to hit it up and do a review. To start, the burgers at Five Guys are legit (and always have been)... They are equally as good as In n' Out Burger, IMO. This time was no different... Big, juicy, perfectly cooked, and loaded burger. The fries on the other hand were just ok, as they are usually just average... For whatever reason though, Five Guys fries are never super crispy, but rather soft and slightly soggy (guessing it's from the whole double fry thing that they do, which I'm not a fan of) - I still can't figure out how you have a stellar burger and average at best fries? But I digress. The service was really good (and fast)... We had our food in less than 10 minutes, which is impressive because everything is cooked to order. Also, the restaurant was clean as the usual/typical Five Guys. The principle reason why I "three starred" Five Guys is because of the price... $37 for two burgers, two small fries, and two medium drinks. This is more ridiculous than Joe Biden arguing that the trashed U.S. economy and non-existent border security is Trump's fault... It's customer price gouging at its highest level and it's not remotely debatable. There is absolutely zero justification for a fast food restaurant to be charging nearly $40 for a meal for two people. While Five Guys burgers are awesome, you can go to Henry's and literally pay less for a meal, and they arguably have the best burger and fries in Fort Wayne. Biased opinion, but Five Guys has my heart when it comes to fast food/fast casual burgers. There has never been a time where I've been disappointed with my order here. To start, this location is noticeably cleaner than other locations I've been to around Indiana. The staff isn't the most outright friendly but with how quick and knowledgeable they are, it's not necessarily needed. I mostly do online pick up from here but can agree with others the menu may seem overwhelming at first, but after a couple minutes of reading you realize it's actually rather limited as it's the toppings and serving sizes that take up most of the menu (gotta love corporate America's constant need for marketing maximization lol). I do find as though ordering online is much much easier/less overwhelming than it can be placing your order in person, so if you are someone that is typically indecisive or needs more time to look over all your options, this is the route I'd recommend. All in all, it is your standard chain so you really can't expect much else but like their signage indicates, their burgers and fries are pretty unmatched. My ONLY precaution, like one of the reviewers before me mentioned, do not put your bag on your car seat especially if you get fries as the grease seeps and pools through the paper bag instantly. read more

We have visited this location at least 50 times over the years. Always before this past Saturday it was an EXCELLENT experience. This time however it was sub par at best. I would have given it a lower rating but all the good visits required at least some consideration. This past Saturday September 13th we visited at 730pm. I immediately noticed the employees were different than what we had become accustomed to, less attentive and rougher. The facility was dirty, the ketchup needed refilled, and the restrooms were also not clean. This is the 1st time ever this was the case. Our food did not taste nearly as good as before. The burgers and fries were not as flavorful, the buns were soggy, overall the food was not good. We will be back again but, I hope we dont have an experience like this. Stopped by Five Guys today for a late lunch. This is only the second time having Five Guys. Last time was in Flagstaff, AZ about 10 years ago. This location was very clean and the staff was super friendly. We placed our order for dine in and our food was brought to our table about 5 minutes later. The wife and daughter and I ordered a single cheeseburger each and a large fries to share. My grandson had the grilled cheese and gobbled it down without delay. Our burgers were very fresh and tasty. The cashier took the order after I explained all this, and the range of solutions I said I would be happy with; and I tipped a dollar. I got the foil-wrapped burger anyway. Pre-Covid, with a different manager, I got this done every time, either a torn-open paper bag used with the tape they use to secure the foil, or a small bag rather than foil. Faced with my unhappy face, the manager said, "we don't take items back across the counter", except, where I could hear him, so I heard him say, "tell him 'we don't take items back across the counter'", which the counter employee repeated. Went here real quick for quick Break during my daughter's volleyball tournament. When we first went there we got in there at the perfect time which was probably about 12 o'clock and it was not busy. They took our orders. Although asking the guy at the counter about the hamburger patties he didn't seem too smart. Lol but he tried. So and it up getting the single cheeseburger and my husband got the double cheeseburger. These hamburgers are really good when they say small that means one patty when they talk about just a regular cheeseburger that means two patties. So we both ordered those with fries and drinks. They give you a slip with a number on it they call at your number after you sit down and you go get your food. They give you a cup which they forgot to give us so I had to go back up and get a cup to get my drink. They have a pop machine there that's kind of like the movie theater so you can choose anything you want out of it it's really nice. There was a lot of tables there but they were dirty although they did have someone out there cleaning the tables. We did find a spot that wasn't dirty and sat down. The hamburger was delicious but the fries were even more yummy. I don't know what they cook those fries in but it is really good fries. They look like they're fresh cut. I really like this place I think it probably should've been a little bit more cleaner because they didn't have very many people in it. And even though the guy tried to answer questions at the counter he might have to get a little bit more education to answer questions because they were pretty simple questions. But that's the way it goes. Overall I would give this place four star. They tried, they were cleaning just a little on the late side. I enjoyed my food especially the french fries. Second visit to try five guys again. Ordered a little burger and regular size fries extra crispy A BLT sandwich too. Food was mediocre, bread was dry hard and had to rip off the outside of the buns to be able to eat the sandwiches. Frys were not crispy and were barely warm. Restaurant is cold with a constant draft that makes your food cold while you are eating it. Restaurant is greasy everywhere, tables, floors, walls and trash cans were very dirty where you put the trash in and you have to touch it to throw away your trash. Door to the kitchen is really dirty and should be cleaned. They only had 3 tables with customers at them but the other tables were empty and not cleaned. Had trash and crumbs on them. They had about 7 workers and many not doing anything. Someone should have been cleaning the dining area. Men's restroom was dirty. Floors have trash and sink was dirty too. I just went to Five Guys for lunch yesterday, Saturday April 1st. It's located in the Northcrest Shopping Center, across from the Best Buy and Kohl's. I had a Cheeseburger with mayo, tomato, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms and jalapeno peppers. It had two patties and costs $5.09 plus tax. (The "Little" burgers have single patties.) We (my wife, my son and I) shared a "Large" order of fries, which was HUGE and could easily have been shared with another person! These are freshly cut from big potatoes, with skins attached. The burger was very thick (hard to stretch my mouth big enough to take bite!) and delicious! The fries were also wonderful and very plentiful. Actually, this place reminds me strongly of the "In-and-Out Burger" places I've been to in California. You have to order and wait for your freshly cooked and assembled burger, unlike most fast food places that have their burgers pre-made and waiting for you in their hot keeping places. I really enjoy the burgers here and I'm not really a huge meat person. It just tastes so good. I always get the mini bacon chese burger (which is just the same size as the big one, but it has one patty and the big one has 2 pattys). There are so many toppings to choose from, all of which are included in the price of the hamburger. I always get mushrooms, raw onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, mayo, mustard, and kechup, along with the cheese and wonderful bacon that comes on it....did I mention how great this bacon is? So crispy and good!!! You can get regular fries(great fresh tasting fries) or cajon style (never tried them so I have no idea if they are good). I always get the smaller of the 2 sizes and it is more than enough to share with someone else! The bag and the cup it comes in are just overflowing with fries. They don't offer much more options than burgers, hotdogs, and fries, but they know how to do some burgers! I'm so happy I finally tried this place about a month ago. Every table was dirty, it was very hard to eat here because of the lack of being clean. I can't say I am a connoisseur of the hamburger, or steamed hams as they are known in upstate New York. I do enjoy them from time to time. My wife and I heard good things about 5 Guys and decided to check it out after our zoo trip. The place was fairly large, but the first thing I noticed was the decor. Past the constant repeating red and white patterns, much like that of an anal retentive's newborn room, was the self congratulatory news clippings everywhere. This rang some alarms in my head, as if they were pulling a psychological ad trick by placing a strong suggestion that their food is that amazing. The menu was simple but somewhat confusing. The only ways they prepare the burger are "juicy" and well done. I have no idea what "juicy means in terms of cooking. Does it mean rare, extra greasy, or soaked in bovine blood? The woman behind the register acted as if I should of known what they were all about; like how could I have possibly never been to their establishment before, had I not read all their news clippings? After getting a muffled response and annoyed stare after asking how thick their patties were, I ordered 2 cheese burgers, a large order of fries and 2 drinks. 20 dollars seemed like a lot, no wonder the toppings were free. I waited for a few minutes, not bad service, until my number was called. I had 2 large sodas, so the bag had to rest against my arm. The hot grease started to melt through the bag, burning my arm somewhat. I must note that I take full responsibility for that. Totally my bad, but I want to illustrate just how greasy the food was. We arrived home and began to eat. The sack, despite being soaked in grease, didn't really diminish the grease in the fries. There's a white board that announces where the potatoes are from, but Idaho seems like a long distance to travel just to become grease sponges. The burger wasn't horrible, but it wasn't good either. Way too much grease, and the bun looked as though it had been manhandled by a bouncer. About 20 minutes later, my wife and I both felt ill, our stomachs hurt and we were both quite shaky. After several waves of nausea and vomiting on my part, I'm feeling somewhat better, but hardly 100%. Was it the worse burger I've eaten? 5 Guys love to show off their praise, but like anything too hyped up, if it fails, it fails hard. Especially at their prices. This is one of those classic examples of determining does 5 Guys succeed in what it is trying to achieve for a restaurant? The answer is - yes it does. The burgers are juicy, sloppy to eat, and come loaded with whatever you want. Be forewarned, if you plan on eating lots of the free peanuts, and consuming heaps of their fries - consider ordering the smaller sized burger. Speaking of the fries. They are cut in house, but are definitely not crispy. They have a self-service ketchup dispenser where you put what you want in small cups. They also have vinegar available. Soft drinks are dispensed through one of the fancy new 100+ combinations machines - but when the place is busy it can get backed up with folks that don't understand the machine or kids that are playing around. The atmosphere is typical for fast food, but what sticks out is the hard metal chairs. If the goal is to keep people from sitting and lingering - perhaps noshing on loads of free peanuts - then 5 Guys is succeeding because the chairs are very uncomfortable. The place is always clean, trash bins are always being emptied, and they do a great job of keeping the tables clean. Overall, pretty typical 5 Guys. It achieves what it is trying to be - a higher end fast food burger joint. It's not cheap, but they try really hard to make sure customers get what they want, in a somewhat fun place, while serving pretty decent burgers and fries (and peanuts!) read more

We each ordered a bacon cheeseburger and each got a small fry. First off I was blown away by their soft drink selection (they had Diet Barq's Vanilla). The atmosphere was middle of the road for me. As with another reviewer, I found the self-promoting signage inside to be a bit tacky. What is the point of it? I'm already inside the restaurant. The atmosphere was loud but clean (I watched an employee thoroughly clean the empty tables and chairs). The burgers were good, but imo nothing to write home about and certainly not as good as Red Robin. The fries were the star for us. I ordered a small Cajun fry and was impressed by not only the flavor but also amount of fries. Now lets get to the pricing and nutrition. First off it was much more expensive than I expected. The burger was $6+ and quite frankly I didn't think it was a $6 burger. The nutrition...well obviously you don't go to a burger joint for the nutrition. I've been to five guys a few times, here and in Texas. It is a typical burger place where you have to order and they'll call out your number to get the food. The chairs and tables make the place seems crowded even though it's an average size place. The menu doesn't have any combo so you have to order everything separately. Each burger have free toppings. I had the little cheeseburger with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles. It tastes like a regular burger. Don't expect it to be amazing or the best burger. I also had the Cajun fries which was very delicious! It's a bit pricey...almost $4 but they loaded it a lot inside the bag so I guess that's fine. This was my first time in a 5 brothers; The burger was good; not great in my opinion. If I had to compare it to another burger joint I'd say the burger tasted like Steak & Shake but with thicker patties. The fries on the other hand; although abundant were soggy and very bland tasting.
