There's a lot to consider with any Five Guys. The most important in this economy is the value of the food. I have considered a Five Guys burger as convenient comfort food and my go-to on business lunches that turn into business dinners. These are not cheap burgers. They are not bad burgers, either. They are a mix between the familiar fast food burger and the county fair fatburger one can get - both taste tantalizingly unhealthy but tasty. The fries are shoveled into every bag and are usually quite salty and good. I love that I can coat them with the burger topings that just overflow from under the soft bun. These are greasy, heavy burgers. I love a good burger, but the after-effects can be significant, so if you can tolerate carrying a third or half a pound of burger and fries for a while, that's great. If not, you may want to consider the lighter fare available around the center. Delivery means soggy bags. You roll the dice when placing an order. Cold Five Guys is not good. Soggy bags mean soggy fries. Beware. I don't get the peanuts, but they are free and piled up for the taking. So if you're a big fan of de-shelling free legumes, this is the place to hit up. The service has been hit or miss. It has never been terrible, but I've gone in on days it feels like the owner is watching from somewhere, and others where I feel like I'm interrupting a private party behind the counter. It is inconsistent, but I've never had that impact the quality of the product, just maybe how long it takes them between chats to move my order to the next step. If I find myself in the area, I pause before committing because the dine-in turnaround is often long, and it isn't exactly the most comfortable dining area. The dining room is a self-congratulatory gallery of how amazing Five Guys is through press clippings, customer comment cards, and reviews. My dudes, I am already in the restaurant, and you have my money. I don't need to read how awesome you think you are. Just prove it with the noms. The ugly bathroom/cafeteria aesthetic is not inviting. The chairs are uncomfortable. It's not ironically charming. It's just ugly. Overall, if you love sloppy burgers that taste like they are made by that neighbor in your cul-de-sac who KNOWS how to grill at a block party, this is a slightly over-priced but tasty option to capture that flavor. Easy ordering and good service. Burgers are cooked to order, so not quick, but that's great considering it's YOUR burger getting cooked on the grill. The stores all look the same, stacked boxes of peanuts, potatoes and oil along with the white and red ceramic tile. You definitely know you're in 5 guys based on the decor and you the sounds coming from the kitchen. $18 for a burger and fries is a little steep, but you do get free peanuts. Let me set the stage. Driving into Harrisburg hungry for some chick-fil-a when their app isn't working. Line is too long. 5 guys is our backup stop. Obviously not our first option. Almost slipped on the grease on the floor on my way in. This didn't set a good tone for the rest of our experience. The thick musk of peanut oil in the air made it hard to breathe. That out of the way, I was in the area last summer for a few days and for convenience mainly, we went to this location for take out three times. There is not too much I can say - it's 5 Guys standard really. The food is always great and more than hits the spot. The burgers are always awesome. The gimmick of the fries overtaking the bag to the point where you need a shovel to get to your burgers is of course the same way here. You can eat your fries until you see a small piece of the foil of your buried burger(s) and then switch up or find a way to dump the fries out - all the same really. Did I mention 5 Guys is always generous with their fries? Of course with great taste comes great spending. 5 Guys can be VERY expensive. For us - 2 adults and a kid - $37.54 for 3 drinks, 2 fries, 1 kids fries, 1 Hamburger, 1 little hamburger, and 1 bacon cheeseburger. I'd rather them be standard with the fries and charge less, but it is what it is. Be warned that you will spend more than you need to or want to in here if you come. Yes, while you are paying for great taste - they ought to drop their prices just a little. While we did come here 3 times, it was enough (nearly $100 in 3 visits) to where we won't be doing that again upon next visit. Staff is always decent and friendly. Some of the tables were "clean" - some made me question why certain people are allowed to eat in public. Ok, I get it - you're a messy eater.......but at least ATTEMPT to clean up after your slob selves. If slobs who seemingly get their food everywhere except their mouths wasn't enough - the beverage area (you get your own drinks) will make you lose faith in humanity more. It's a mess and it would probably be better if 5 Guys filled the drinks themselves. People can be slobs and not caring about the next person - and while I don't expect people to be courteous enough to clean up after their meal, you'd think they'd at least be courteous at the beverage area. While the slobs who come here are not 5 Guys fault, they should have 1-2 staff members come out and clean up during a rush - or clean up during a down time. When we went, it wasn't that crowded, but finding a "clean" table took a little longer than we liked and the beverage area was sticky fun. The other two times, we just ate elsewhere. To go from customer to employee is a clear connotation of how great the service, food, & all around atmosphere of the establishment. No 2 five guys are the same, just because you had a bad experience at one that doesn't take away from the other.... Now let's get started, the atmosphere is great from the time you walk through the door, kindly greeted, promptly providing service and answering any questions as if it's the 1st time a person asked it(even though it's been asked several times, in fact the person ahead asked the Sam question). The tables & floor are cleaned regularly so at closing barely anything in the lobby that needs to be cleaned. The food is prepared to order, no freezer which means the burger doesn't need to defrost on the grill & dry out, the fries are cut daily & double fried. The milkshakes are made with real ingredients(real fruits). The service makes the food taste better. People show their appreciation by leaving a tip. Either right after they pay or before leaving. God bless you if you ask for a bunless burger. At In-N-Out, the progressive burger place that originated in Southern California, they do this by making a regular burger and wrapping it by hand in carefully leafed lettuce. You can totally pick it up and eat it, just like a regular burger. It tastes good and hangs together just fine. And you skip those carbs. If you ask for this at Five Dork--oops, I mean, Guys, they will make the burger their regular way, with little pieces of lettuce, and then wrap it in a piece of foil. Yes, that means if you order a cheeseburger, they will press the foil right into the melty cheese, so that when you open it up, all of the cheese sticks right to the foil and the burger is essentially no longer a cheeseburger. Or a burger. They have no utensils at Five -----, so once you've opened your foil full o'mess, you can't actually eat it. I contacted the district manager, who explained to me that the pile of mess I received was indeed made the way the company directs their people to make their "protein style" or bunless burgers. So...that's fine. I don't like their food anyway; I can be happier with a McDonald's Big Mac or wait until I'm in LA for an awesome In-N-Out meal. But I won't likely show up at Five Somethings any time again soon. read more

I'd say they are none of those. But they are not bad either. Just not special. The burger is good. Not great. One expectation not met. The taste was good. I saw in one review on their advertisement comapring it to the tastefullness of a Kobe burger. Yea right. This is nowhere near a Kobe burger. Honestly, The Whopper burger is way more tasty and is way bigger. And a better value. So is it excellent? obviously no. But they are good. I just don't think they lived up to the hype and price. If you want a really good burger, stick with the originals, Fuddruckers, right there on Paxton. That's a big tasty burger. The fries... ok those are good, worth making a trip for. But, they are not as good as Boardwalk fries if you have ever been to Ocean City, MD. They are similar though. All the ingredients are there to make you great fries too, vinegar lots of salt and pepper. And that is a much better value than the burger. Service was great, the cashier was very friendly and explained the sizes to us since it was our first time there. Another busboy asked about our daughter and complimented her. Very pleasant. I've never been here (to this location or anyone back home for that matter) but my husband had repeatedly told me how much he dislikes the burger and how much I will hate it - and I trust him a lot. It's about the only good vegetarian option, I've heard (not that I'm vegetarian but I often eat like one). I also got some fries because my husband said I would like those probably and I had a craving for boardwalk style fries. I just really wanted a grilled cheese too (I was craving a very certain grilled cheese place back home and this place had menu items to kind of satisfy me....oh I miss you grilled cheese and tomato soup restaurant!). Anyhow, the fries were okay - seasoned with seasoning salt but cooked unevenly - some were fine, others weren't cooked all the way through. A bit too greasy - and they give you WAY too many. Who the hell needs that many fries? Also, I can eat a lot of fries. Like a lot, like it's a problem. I couldn't eat all of these, I barely ate half, before feeling completely and utterly disgusting. Like I never wanted to eat again. I still feel like that. This is coming from someone who can eat an entire basket or cup (about the size of Five Guy's cup just not overflowing) of boardwalk fries from other places - but something about these make me feel just sick. Not a fan at all. I guess I kind of get the attraction. It's burgers and fries and kind of kitchy. There are free peanuts. I'm just not a fan. Burgers are made to order as well as the fries. Food is always hot and delicious. My boyfriend and I always order a cheeseburger with our own choice of toppings and split a small order of fresh cut fries. The fries spill over the cup and fill the bottom of the brown bag.. soo yummy! Their sweet tea is the perfect beverage to wash it all down. The roasted peanuts are really good too... even down to their dill pickle chips.. this place is a 5 all around. I hear that they are moving out West, so it will be a nice addition to Southern California's "really good fast-food burger" thing we got going with In-N-Out, The Habit, and Fatburger. Although I'm not a big fan of their fries, I like how they have vinegar to put on them. Service from staff is polite and more than excellent. The new-stye soda towers have SO many choices. Lastly, and most importantly, the burgers are SO GOOD, that my wife, who is NOT a burger fan AT ALL, will not only not turn down a Five Guys, but she will finish her burger before you, guaranteed! Tip: If you go by yourself, it can be a tad expensive.
