Decent joint for late night burger delivery in Manhattan (open until 2am nightly). I've probably ordered late from there 6-7 times over as many years. Food generally compares favorably to other fast food burger places at that hour. They seem to have relatively functional and efficient service too, especially compared to similar late night options. The only exception to that is smaller unpaid items like straws and utensils, which they always find a way to screw up or neglect entirely. For the same reason, I'd be dubious about asking for allergy modifications. If that doesn't apply, it's a worthy spot. read more

If you like cold burgers and fries this is the place to go! The only consolation was they got the condiments right on the burgers. I should have known better than to go to a Times Square location. The place is absolute mayhem, with many orders stacked up on a shelf getting cold. There's so much confusion and yelling you can barely hear yourself think. I finally managed to force my way through the crowd and pick up my order that had apparently been sitting on the shelf for 25 minutes, unbeknownst to me. If you've ever been to the running of the bulls in Pamplona this will feel familiar. I don't know how I managed to avoid getting gored. So unless you are absolutely starving and this is the only burger joint left on Earth after a nuclear explosion, you can do better just about anywhere else! read more

You also gave to be on the lookout for seats to open up since they're so packed. I took advantage of National Cinema Day and was full off of popcorn and Icees, but I needed some food in my system. I don't eat burgers but I went here with my dad who had: Bacon cheeseburger with: ketchup, mustard & pickles. & we shared a medium fry. It's kind of a la carte style menu where you choose your main and then pick and choose your toppings. Dad said it was better than he thought it'd be and you could see why it's so popular. It's right by Time Square so you can just pop-in, maybe stand in a quick line, watch them make all the burgers or sit at one of the tall tables, then either take your food to go or eat there (we decided to eat there). Despite paying $20 for a bacon cheeseburger and something they called a veggie sandwich, what we got was seriously undewhelming. My tiny bacon cheeseburger did not have any bacon on it, and the veggie sandwich was mostly 10 small canned mushrooms barely cooked with a few thin strips of greenpepperon a bun. Not recommended. I come here when I am in the mood for a fresh made burger and fries to leave a bit of grease on my fingers. That being said, their burgers are great! You have the option of a regular or a little burger (2 or 1 patty). From there, topping and sauce combinations are endless. Or alternatively, you can just ask for the works to eliminate any decision making on your part. I like Five Guys. I've been to the one in North Brunswick NJ at least three times. They make some mean cajun fries. Free peanuts, toppings, and refills on soda. I get it. Cool. But in NYC, especially in a hot Times Sq/42nd St location, you gotta up your game. People flock to chain restaurants in the Square cuz tourists know what they're getting. But with an interior that looks exactly the same, the food that's entirely the same, and with the same service, I'm really puzzled as to why I'm paying 30% more here versus NJ. I ended up paying $9.99 for a little cheeseburger and regular fries. Which, by the way, were both messy and sloppy, just like it would be in NJ. Granted, there was no line here. But tell me why I should spend $10 here versus getting a better quality burger at shake shack for $7.80 two blocks away? Holy moly people, I know its Times Square, I know you're paying for really expensive rent, but when you have a major burger rival two blocks away that's famous enough to be put into NYC guidebooks, you sure you want to be charging that much?? They have a large verity of drinks the establishment has a full social distancing plan in place everyone wears mask and gloves. You can make contactless payments. It's been a couple of years since the only location of the popular Japanese chain (http://www.yelp.com/biz/yoshinoya-new-york) said sayonara to the Times Square scene, making way for one of America's most popular burger chains in Five Guys. It has without a doubt added another notch on the franchise belt across the already very touristy 42nd St. The bright interior is reminiscent of all Five Guy locations. Lines of tourists gasping at the prices, employees slow to take orders and cooking, and plenty of folks simply lingering around the tables in search of something else to do. The cool blast of AC is highly appreciated and the uber modern soda machines can be fun. Don't bother asking for bathrooms, they don't have any. The burgers and hot dogs are as greasy as expected. There are days where a soggy burger loaded with condiments and toppings would be appealing and it's a drunk eats spot waiting to happen as they're open till 2am and 4am. If this were a pre-theater meal, Five Guys works in a pinch. it won't be cheap, but at least it beats ordering from nearby Mickey Ds (http://www.yelp.com/biz/mcdonalds-new-york-124), the priciest one in Manhattan. read more

What can I say about Five Guys... A little history: First Five Guys location was in Arlington, VA (1986). Due to the popular demand, they opened five more locations within five years. Hmmmm I'm starting to think that the number five has a lot to do with decision making with them. In 2003 they started selling franchises which duh sells out. In 2009 Mr. President Obama himself made news by going into a Five Guys and ordering cheese burgers for himself and for the news crew that was following him around that day. After that, Five Guys had everyone talking about who they were and how do they get a burger like the President. Yes even this In N Out guy had to go look for one. One of the first things you will see is a big barrow with peanuts inside. Yes those are free to eat while you wait for your food. I think by now everyone knows about their burgers and how you have a wide variety of choices to customize your burger to your taste. They also have killer fries too! I've always told my friends that the one thing Five Guys is missing was having a good shake. Come on man, shakes go good with burgers and fries. As I we were walking through the doors, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had take a step back and do a double take as I saw that they were now serving shakes at select locations and this sells them. What a treat, what a treat! I got the salted caramel and it tasted really good. My nephew got the coffee or the peanut butter one and he said he really liked it too.
