What can I say about Five Guys... A little history: First Five Guys location was in Arlington, VA (1986). Due to the popular demand, they opened five more locations within five years. Hmmmm I'm starting to think that the number five has a lot to do with decision making with them. In 2003 they started selling franchises which duh sells out. Too bad they don't have one for Hawaii as I would buy one. In 2009 Mr. President Obama himself made news by going into a Five Guys and ordering cheese burgers for himself and for the news crew that was following him around that day. After that, Five Guys had everyone talking about who they were and how do they get a burger like the President. Yes even this In N Out guy had to go look for one. One of the first things you will see is a big barrow with peanuts inside. Yes those are free to eat while you wait for your food. I think by now everyone knows about their burgers and how you have a wide variety of choices to customize your burger to your taste. They also have killer fries too! I've always told my friends that the one thing Five Guys is missing was having a good shake. Come on man, shakes go good with burgers and fries. As I we were walking through the doors, I couldn't believe my eyes. I had take a step back and do a double take as I saw that they were now serving shakes at select locations and this sells them. What a treat, what a treat! I got the salted caramel and it tasted really good. My nephew got the coffee or the peanut butter one and he said he really liked it too. All in all, everyone in our group liked their food and shakes. This location like the rest I've been to, were friendly, happy, and helpful. read more

Rushed over here at 3 in the morning coming straight from bar hopping in the lower east side. We were on the hunt not just for any type of burger, but the best burger. Knowing that they close at 4 am we took our chances. Got there just in time. Surprisingly at that time there was alot of people there for the same reason I was, looking to sober up with deliciousness. I ordered 3 burgers which by default come with two patties instead of one, two small Cajun seasoned fries which in reality are large because they dump more in the bag and a bottled water. Don't forget if your hunger cannot be tamed they have unlimited peanuts. You can eat them while you wait. My order came out pretty quick in about 6 or 7 minutes and it was pure heaven. Five Guys goes from five stars to one. When this Five Guys opened in September they were seriously on their game. The team was fresh out of new store training and knew what theyw ere doing. Since then is has rapidly declined. I know good help is hard to find in NY, especially in Times Square and it shows at Five Guys. Oversalted fries, over cooked burgers, etc. The last bacon cheeseburger I had the bacon was hard, black, charred bits of carbon piled on top or my burger. Who in their right mind would serve food like that, except someone who didn't care. I hade to scrape them off the burger to make it somewhat edible. And the fries, they are so heavy on the salt I ended up throwing the food in the trash can. The fries are so over salted everyone at work orders them special - no salt. My 2 middle fingers of death is not a negative comment on Five Guys in general, but rather just this particular franchise. The staff here is friendly enough. Things started off well when they quickly took my order. I figured I'd make things simple for them - a single patty bacon cheese burger with BBQ sauce. Not too crazy right? Oh, and throw in some cajun fries. First off the order took forever. Kind of strange considering I was there pretty early in the day and there were way more people in the kitchen than customers. You'd think with a big ass assembly line of people they would be able to get my food out in a timely manner. Nope. For some reason, I couldn't really discern when and if they were actually cooking my food. By the time I got my food, I actually stopped paying attention b/c I was bored out of my mind and had to use my iPhone to keep me distracted. But it certainly took longer than it should have. So with all that "time" put into the food, you'd think you would get a decent burger? How about a juicy patty? Nope. It was pretty dry and lacked the taste of the same burger I got in other Five Guys locations. The cheese - well it's just cheese. No biggie there. The BBQ sauce? Yep. But my beef was literally that the patties were dry as hell and the bacon was scorched beyond belief. I know someone else here made a similar complaint about burnt bacon. Seriously how do you make bacon so nasty? It's a shame this prominent location can't keep up the standards that I know they are capable of in other Five Guys stores. I work in the area and I love the amount of french fries they dish out:) I only go to pick-up and it has always been friendly and fast. HOWEVER it is located in tourism central soooo there are days when the workers look as thou they have been dipped in the fryer:) I do avoid the place when crowded. For taste alone, 5 stars - for this place as a whole 3 stars. Came here because it was a little less crowded than a lot of the eateries in a busy Saturday Times Square. We were "lucky" to get a table. After placing the order (2 burgers, 2 fries, 2 drinks totaling $29 by the way - gotta love Manhattan overpricing) we waited for our meal. There are two rows of tables and a line that goes past the tables which is a little stupid. If you're going to place an order, it should be near the front and then to wait in the back. Can't say I was pleased that there were people standing in line looking at us while we were eating our food......right next to us. They really should change their interior format, because it's pretty poor. They called out my order number and I picked it up. Even though we were staying, it was thrown into a brown paper bag. Ok, no problem. Upon opening the bag however, the fries completely consumed the bag to the point where we literally had to eat our way down to our burgers. I'm for extra fries, but this was a little much. I was nearly full before I was able finally see and retrieve my burger from the bottom of the bag. All in all, except for the people inside, the meal was as good as I expected and very filling. I needed to use the rest room and wasn't made aware that customers needed a code to enter the locked bathrooms. I made my way back to look at the receipt and there was the code, but some weirdo ended up getting to the door before me (though I was technically there first) and since it was the place's fault for assuming every customer knew about this "code", I entered the women's room - of course to find no toilet paper. Ahh, gotta love Manhattan. Staff were busy and except for the guy that called out my order who seemed like a zombie, they were pretty friendly despite the large volume of customers. Good food even though it's overpriced (as pretty much most things in Manhattan are), but if you're not a fan of the crowds, I would suggest not eating at Times Square and going to one of the other many locations throughout the city. Went in pretty late on a weekend and the line was almost to the door but the service was really fast. The only complaint is that the cheese on the burgers werent melted it was just placed on top of the burger before was wrapped up. Even though the line was long though the food got out really fast and tasted just as good as usual. The fries are my favorite. I freaking love 5 Guys. It's like the perfect fast food burger with endless, delicious toppings. I'm not usually a big red meat eater, so I always loved the fake fast-food beef instead. I'm mainly writing this for the dude who was calling out the order numbers and making fries. He was SUCH an A-hole. I wish I could've gotten his name, but there were 2 guys both wearing glasses one was a bit older making the burgers and they were great but not the other guy. I had an online order and checked in with him to see if it was ready, by this time it was 20 Minutes after I had ordered and I was quoted 10 minutes, so I was late. I didn't even give him my name, I just said I had an online order and he said "yeah but you gotta wait." They were slammed so I patiently waited on the side. 15 min go by and he looks at me and says "2 minutes." Another 10 minutes go by, that's right, 45 Freaking minutes and STILL no food, and the two guys with the glasses asked us what we ordered and said they had noticed we had been waiting a long time. At first I didn't make a big fuss because they were SLAMMED and it was just 3 of them and I work in the restaurant business so I know the feeling. So I told them the order and turns out They didn't even have my ticket at all. So I have no clue why the dumb fry guy said "2 minutes" to me. So they finally make my food, I grab it and leave. I get home to find out The jerk on fries KNEW I was there for 45 minutes waiting for my food, and this mf gave me 90% burnt, old, stale, inedible fries. Didn't even bother making some fresh ones. I wish I was kidding, I ate about 5 or 6 decent fries and threw out the rest because they were inedible. I legit was going to go to shake shack but I really wanted the Cajun fries, that's the whole reason I went there, and I couldn't even eat them. Not impressed. If you're looking for a place to grab a quick bite, it's good for burgers, but don't plan on staying as it's difficult to find a seat. The wait time is a bit longer, but that's because everything seems to be made-to-order so everything is fresh. They had two vegetarian options - a grilled cheese and a veggie sandwich (which was grilled peppers and onions and lettuce and tomatoes.) This is the first time I try Five Guys. I've been hearing so many good things about it but never really took the time to try it until today. So first thing you notice is the 70-80s feel of the place through the red and white checkered decor. The first employee I interact with was very friendly and funny. I didn't know what to order for my first experience so I just ordered a burger with everything . The list is very long on the toppings that are included. Unlike McDonalds or Burger King, every burger is made to order. It took approximately 5-10 minutes to get my burger handed to me. Now my perfect Burger is a medium rare, well seasoned, juicy and a great bun to just support all the flavors . Well when you open that wrapper from your burger you can tell this is going to be a sloppy experience . On the first bite the first thing you notice is how juicy the burger is but it definitely lacked seasoning. It seemed like they didn't even add salt and pepper when it was cooking. I had an awfully hard time eating the Burger because of: 1. My annoying braces 2. The bun I felt like the bun was almost nonexistent . As soon as the juice of the burgers were absorbed by it, it made really hard to keep the burger together . If they were to season their burgers, this burger would probably kick ass. For a well done burger it was really juicy and the toppings where very delicious as well. Now I probably wont be changing my Burger spot for this chain anytime soon buy its definitely a burger worth trying . If they fix the seasoning issues I would give it a 5/5. read more

Ehhhh. I'm a fan of Five Guys, but this location falls flat on its face. Basically, it's blown out all the time, which sucks. I've come in here six times to date and there's almost never anywhere to sit. On top of that, it's loud / crazy (which is to be expected, it's Times Square), so you're not exactly better off sticking around anyway. Every time I order my burgers here, they're either severely undercooked or overcooked. I've never had this issue with any Five Guys in the past, but this one is making it happen so far. However, I got the Hamburger (comes with 2 patties) and fries today, and was hugely disappointed. With thousand + calories just in their cajun flavored fries - it makes you wonder why the US has one of the highest obesity rates in the world. I mean don't get me wrong it's delicious. A faster option than the Shake Shack around the corner and equally as tasty. A much better, tastier and bigger burger for the same price than Whitman's inside City Kitchen at the Row Hotel just 2 blocks away. Cajun fries are solid and spicy, so I enjoyed them and they overflow the container with them so you get more than enough.
