Been hearing a lot about the burgers at Five Guys and finally had the opportunity to try it for myself. Ordered their regular hamburger (2 patties) and regular fries. They give you an option of free toppings like all the way (ketchup, mustard, mayo, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, and grilled mushrooms), ketchup, mustard, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A1 sauce, BBQ sauce, hot sauce, grilled jalapenos, mayo, relish, onion, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, or grilled green peppers. I opted for grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, and a dash of mayo. I wanted not to mask the burger with so much stuff so I can actually taste it. They cooked the burger to perfection. Moist and juicy right off the grill. To me it's the best burger under $6. I've had the likes of Umami but then it's gourmet and the price and the amount meat is not comparable. I also liked their seasoned fries. The regular size was enough to feed a party of two. read more

James B is right on--my favorite burger of all was In N Out, but it edges that one out. The burger meat is delicious, just like In N Out, but the toppings and bun are clearly superior. The fries are clearly better too, especially the Cajun style--not too spicy but wonderful flavorings and a much more generous man-sized serving. So pay no attention to San Fernando style whiners, this burger is not just decent, it's really GREAT, along with the service attitude of the waitstaff (also GREAT). Why not 5 stars? Two things: the price vs In N Out means it is not a 5 Star value. Kind of like a turbo prop versus a jet: you spend a lot more fuel to go a little faster and higher, but not in proportion. You spend twice as much but don't get twice as good--you have to just want to get the very best burger at any price. The other thing is atmosphere: you can't really go to Five Guys for a dinner out, like you can at Islands. The burgers again are not the issue, since they're great, but the atmosphere is equal to In N Out. read more

I try not to eat burgers too often so when I do I want a good burger. I like Fatburger and In & Out. I recently tried 5 Guys and loved it. I went back today for confirmation. In my educated opinion 5 Guys is better than Fatburger and yes, better than In & Out. It's just a really great burger. Their fries are also great. It is a bit expensive but worth it. read more

EW!!! THIS place is supposed to rival In 'n Out????? Seriously????? I'm not even a huge In 'n Out fan, so for me to say that I would have rather had that, than what I just had, is pretty big! This place is definitely not worth any of the hype it's most likely created around itself. The bun was literally out of an economy pack from Costco, cold, too moist, falling apart - the patty, (I asked for the regular cheeseburger, but with 1 patty only...thank God) had HORRIBLE flavor - almost similar to something you'd find on a really cheap lunch truck (not the gourmet ones that are popular now)...tasted like really low quality beef, was overly salty, and the patty was falling apart in several places after just 1 bite. Ok...so I asked for mayo on my bun....doesn't mean give me the JAR of mayo on there! I feel nauseous just writing about this right now after having consumed it, but I feel it's a civil duty to anyone with taste buds! Make no mistake about it - THIS. IS. AWFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!! I also ordered fries with my burger.... about 10-15 potatoes probably died in order for me to have my ONE order of fries, which filled up about half of my bag. What a waste! It was pretty good for a classic burger. The cool factors: peanuts while you wait, free toppings and all you want for no extra charge, good meat patty to bread ratio. The cons: it was dirty. The floor had so much debris, the tabletops were not wiped down. No one told us about the peanuts and the service was nothing impressive. Great food! You can customize your burger and add whatever you want to it. It is a bit pricier than most burger joints but you definitely get a bang for your buck. Nonetheless, burgers and fries are awesome! Don't forget you also get unlimited roasted peanuts while you wait for your food :) read more

Maybe it's just me but when I see a line out the door every time I drive by, I expect something ridiculously good and worth waiting for. It wasn't worth all the hype and I thought it was just okay, but a little on the greasy side. I like the fact that 5 guys offers a few not so ordinary toppings (grilled mushrooms, jalapenos and green peppers) with no extra charge and free peanuts while you're waiting. I like the cajun seasoning, but I'm more of a skinny fries kinda gal so their fries were not my favorite. All in all, it was just a typical burger joint, but their little hamburger (one patty) is more expensive then in-n-out and habit. I'd much rather come to 5 guys instead of Burger King or McDonalds, but my fave cheap fast food burgers will always be in-n-out and the habit. read more

First vist to this location. I've been to the Thousand store as a basis of comparison. Burger was very good. In my opionion, not equal to the quality, consistancy and value when compared to iN N Out. The restaurant itself was filthy. It was about half full, no tables were cleaned in the 30 minutes I was there. The floor was also dirty. I was surprised at no management supervision. That is another big difference, Five Guys is a franchise, meaning anybody with money can own one, iN N OUT is family owned. You can see the differece. read more

The menu doesn't give you a full description of the burger thing and I ordered way more than I thought I was getting. Also, it was very hectic in the establishment. I've eaten at this place 5 times now and ordered either a burger or a dog. The burger was ok in size, like the patty and bun were about the same size and I didn't need a magnifying glass to see them. The flavor was missing, though. Not much flavor at all. The bacon dog was cooked to perfection and really tasty and I would go back for them except for one thing: the music and noise level in general is way too loud. Each time I ate there, I asked them to turn down the music a bit. They did but not the last time I was there. The guy said it was as low as he could make it and I had trouble hearing him. I had trouble hearing myself think. 5 times is enough to make a fair evaluation. For the burgers, I'm going across the parking lot to the In-N-Out. Way tastier burgers, even though their patty is paper-thin. Better fries, too. It's not worth going deaf in a place that has to turn their music up to the pain level. read more

I've heard about this place for quite some time and thought I would finally give it a try. I don't normally eat a lot of fast food, but when I do, it's usually at IN N' OUT. Today, I thought I would mix things up... BIG MISTAKE. $20 for two burgers, one that was made incorrectly, one that was undercooked, a bag of soggy fries and 2 drinks. The one burger that was made incorrectly (we had asked for JUST grilled onions and there was mushrooms, ketchup... and I'm pretty sure I spotted some marks where the jockey had been whipping it!) All kidding aside, we walked the "burger" back to the register where the cashier asked to see our receipt (which we didn't have becuase we had handed it over to the dude who called our number) So we had to go back out to the greasy "take-out" bag and rip the duplicate receipt off of it) She wasn't going to give us a replacement burger without the receipt, even though we had JUST ordered from her and there were a total of 6 people in the whole place (so it's not like it was busy and she didn't remember us) The cashier also wouldn't touch the wrongly-made burger, so we just left it on the counter and asked that the new burger was brought out to our table, which it was. And why were we sitting outside when the average temperature in the valley has been in the triple digits....?... because although the music playing inside was good, (classic rock) I have heard AC DC in person and didn't need to have the experience recreated at a burger joint. The volume was waaay too loud... and keep in mind, I LIKED the music they were playing! However, bowel-shattering decibel levels do not pair well with the digestion of food. As for the food, as I mentioned the burgers weren't the greatest. No flavor at all. I ate around the pink areas in mine (words I never thought I would write when talking about food!), the buns were pathetic and fell apart easily and the fries were soggy. The free peanuts they give you are a novelty, but do not make up for all the other fails. When we left, we walked over to look at the IN N' OUT next door and there was a line 6 cars deep at the drive-thru. Sigh.
