The food is good, service is good, and restaurant clean (except the soda machine is always full of finger prints cause it is the one button type of soda machine, but I don't get soda so it does not affect me) I just think it's not a good as in n out especially when you compare the prices. This is a love-hate review where yes, I loved my custom hamburger however the prices are insane for being a fast food burger. The colors of the restaurant remind you of in and out but once you pay at the register, you realize that you are not at in n out & question if u should have gone to a sit down restaurant. This is a fast casual burger joint however the prices seem like you're getting a gourmet Burger gastropub. Yes, the burger is good but it is NOT a gourmet burger. Fries were good, taste great & portions were big and free peanuts are good too (better eat some because you're definitely paying for them) but can't justify the prices when in and out is next-door at half the price. Called to pick up due to covid at around 5pm. A young sounding woman answered and said please hold. I was already doing over and figured I would get a head start by calling in my order. I was still on hold 8 minutes 39 seconds as I drove into driveway which has an In and Out burger in the commercial center. I figured like In and Out they must be busy. I was still on hold as I walked in and there were five workers and one women and 3 customers including me. No kidding I was still on hold as I walked in. Some people some workers need to be supervised much closer like in this case. I must have been living under a rock because I just had Five Guys for the first time and boy was it amazing. I'm not sure why I had never been here before. I absolutely loved the mushrooms I was able to add to my burger and the fries were delicious. They have a little patio for outdoor seating if you enjoy the breeze of being outside. What a disappointment. So people say this place tastes like In-N-Out. NOPE!! Not for me. Ordered cheeseburger with tomato, grilled mushroom, grilled onion and jalapeno peppers, cajun fries and cherry coke. Cheeseburger ($6.09): I didn't know this was double patties. The menu didn't specify regular cheeseburger = 2 patties and mini burger = 1 patty. I thought mini burger was a tiny burger. I forced myself to eat half of my burger. Yuck!! Cajun fries ($3.09): nothing special and very soggy. Cherry coke ($2.19): very watered down. Free roasted peanut was a nice touch but I didn't like them. I think I even prefer $6 burger from Carl's Junior. My burger @ that time was one of the worst gourmet burger. I think they have free wifi. The door to the restroom is sticky. "Overrated" is what comes to mind after my first Five Guys experience, especially after all of the hype. Kinda like a bad movie with a great trailer. Exiting the Costco parking lot, Five Guys is right there on the way out and my friend insisted we give this place a try. He jumped at the chance to pay up on a bet so there we were standing in a long line around 7. The first thing that strikes you is the menu board and the prices. For a burger joint, this place is steep. 2 burgers, 2 drinks and 1 fry was 24 bucks? Really? Damn this place must have some really special going on to charge like that right? They offer you as many "free" toppings as you want that includes, Mayo, lettuce, mustard, tomato, onion, ketchup, bbq sauce, A1, grilled mushrooms and onions, green peppers, and jalapenos. 15 minutes later our food was ready. They do have ballpark style peanuts( those are free) to munch on while you are waiting. Even though we were dining there, everything comes in a bag. The burgers were pretty good and the fries were very tasty, crunchy and well seasoned. Maybe the service will get better and they will smooth out the operation. I just don't see the value in their food and the location isn't offering some burger ambiance magic. I kind of feel bad writing this review because the service was great but I don't see how this place stays in business with In N Out right across from them in the same parking lot. I gave it a try once because I heard the hype but probably won't be back again. First of all, the burgers are so damn expensive. My single patty burger was $5. My friend's had the one with 2 patties and it was about $8. The burgers aren't even large so the price is kind of exorbitant. It's true that you can add whatever topping you want but, really, you're already paying for them in the cost of your burger. They give you free peanuts, which you can help yourself to while you wait, but since I'm not a huge fan of peanuts, that didn't quite do anything for me. We ordered the cajun fries to share and that was quite great. The fries are thick cut so it has the right texture and the seasoning was delicious. My burger was just average. I didn't find the meat to be extra juicy like some of the reviews said. The flavor was also just okay. I definitely prefer In N Out. They only offer burgers, hot dogs, and fries. Nice atmosphere and the peanuts are a nice touch... also I didn't get a chance to try the cajun fries but maybe one day I will...as far as the burgers and regular fries- I'll pass. I'd say Five Guys' burgers are about as good as any little hole in the wall/ dive bar. Very bland, though I added as many toppings as I could. So yea, nothing special. In the great hamburger debate, I often forget Five Guys because there seem to be fewer locations. This one is in the Costco parking lot near an In-N-Out and across the street from Chick-fil-A. I've been to this location a couple of times and it's OK. If popularity means anything, there are usually fewer people and more open tables than In-N-Out nearby. In-N-Out is a Southern California original and only on the West Coast now while Five Guys was started on the East Coast. I like the variety at Five Guys. Hamburgers, hog dogs and bacon to add. You can also add toppings at no cost: mushrooms, grilled onions, jalapenos, etc. Fries are in this huge bag. I even ordered the smallest amount and it was in a bag with too many. I asked about a small amount when I ordered. Their belief must be to give customers too many fries because they'll be happy. The fries are just OK and greasy. Cajun style has cajun seasoning. My favorite part of Five Guys is the free peanuts. I love salted peanuts in a shell. You can also get a massive bag at the Costco if you're a member. This location has a Coca-Cola brand drink dispenser with a wide variety of soda options, lemonade and iced tea. A bit odd is they have quotes from newspapers on signs throughout the store raving about how great their food is. I'm already there so a great review from a Des Moines newspaper isn't necessarily going to make me think higher of the burgers. I prefer the burger joint to the south but this place is OK. read more

I've been anxioiusly waiting for this place to open so I can see what the hype was all about and let me say I'm not that impressed. First off I felt bad for Inn n out because normally their drive thru is backed up but there was no one there. I asked the guy how long it takes he said no longer than 7 minutes normally I wouldn't care but I have a baby in the car a hungry baby anxiously waiting with my mother in law in the car who wants his food too. :) I looked at my receipt and it was 5:12 p.m. Anywayssss I looked around and noticed the interior was quite similar to Inn n Out..hmmm than I noticed people kept going to the counter of the pick up to get peanuts..hmm peanuts at a burger joint..that's a first..anyways grabbed some peanuts for myself to go. I'm standing waiting and waiting at the pick up line and I'm watching the workers work and the manager hussling them to hurry..The assembly line they got going on is not enough they have soooo many people working but not fast enough one girl was making the buns adding all the toppings than you got two other guys working the grill and one guy finishing it up. Seriouslyyy it was a mess watching them I was like wowww they need some work and need some help!! The whole toppings is great but seriously it just delays the process. Anyhow still waiting and it was past 7 minutes. I finallllly got my order at 5:27pm 15minutes..seriously guysss..There was a clock right on the wall..I was super annoyed and I think they could tell... I really appreciate the unique flavor and toppings available here. I enjoy the peanuts, and I like that the French fries are cooked in a rustic style. The staff is always friendly. I find it a bit pricey for the quality and portions of the burgers. In-N-Out directly next door, with better prices and a drive-thru option makes an unfortunate situation for Five Guys. I'm not sure why they put their location here, but I suppose in a way it's like comparing apples and oranges. They are usually spot on with cooking their burgers, and they work hard to keep the place clean. It's not my favorite spot, but it is nice to have the option when you're craving their flavors. My wife and I were hungry and came to this locale next to an In-n-Our. As usual there were huge lines at In-n-Out. I never had eaten at Five Guys and wanted to see what I the hype as about. And hype is all it is. The counter staff was knowledgeable and answered my questions about the food with knowledge and understanding. My wife got a "mini" (one pad of beef) cheeseburger and I got the same but with bacon, which never was added to the sandwich. Strike 1. The failed to cue her burger in half as she requested and didn't remove the tomato from mine when I asked for the works. Strike 2. The fries were very soggy and basically no where as fresh as their declaration of fresh fries. And what burger joint doesn't have ranch?? I like my fries crispy and with ranch. Here I had to cope with soggy undercooked fries with mayonnaise. I like fries with mayo but the fries need to be crispy. Final strike 3. We outty! The children working behind the counter really need a manager on site to ensure things were getting do like side work, clean bathrooms, and food service level clean area. This location left a greasy feeling in my and my wife's stomach. I wanted to like it, but it left me with an upset stomach and a significantly lighter wallet than had I if we went to In-n-Out. After a shitter of a day surfin' and not in the best of moods, I took me brother-in-law to Five Guys to get some grub. I've never eaten here before; but everyone who's eaten here has nothing but good things to say about Five Guys. How in the hell did this place get the Best Burger in NYC, and all these other rave reviews. The hamburgers are definitely not great, well at least mine sucked. I should've went next door to In-N-Out Burger, at least their double cheeseburgers and fries rock, and their difinitely edible. I certainly regret the decision not going there, since their literally a hop, skip and jump away from eachother. At Five Guys, I ordered a cheeseburger wiv lettuce, pickle, tomato, ketchup & mustard, wiv cajun fries. How on earth could you screw this order up. It's a freakin' cheeseburger, my 5 year old nephew can make me one, he makes a killa grilled cheese sandwich, so I reckon a cheeseburger shouldn't be a challenge for him. Well suffice it to say, Five Guys butchered me order. They put mayo on me burger and they literally cooked it, til it was hard as a handbag.....and the mayo, I HATE MAYONNAISE....it looks like whale blubber, all jiggly and clotted, YUCK! So my lunch just went into the trash, they offered to make me another burger, but after looking at the mayo, I lost me appetite. So...it's hard to sway me with a burger. I've tried many but am wowed by few. I've heard a lot about Five Guys and was excited to try them. But when I pulled up to a strip-mall setting with DAY-GLO florescent lighting, 800 CSUN students lined up and gleaming door frames of greasy fingerprint smudges, my expectations dropped. Inside was like Chuck-E-Cheese on steroids, without all the fun and goofy entertainment. Harsh lighting and plenty of screaming kids running amok. The only bonus so far was some great rock music that I could hardly decipher over the noise of sugar-induced adrenaline rushes. The order taker was super-sweet. Finally got to try this after hearing so much about it and hearing its comparisons to In N Out. First off, it's across the street from its biggest competitor. Actually, it's not even a street... they're in the same lot. I got the small cheeseburger. I like that you can add on a ton of toppings, such as mushrooms, grilled onion, and hot sauce. That said, the toppings made it an okay-good burger. It's kind of pricy, the meat itself was okay, but the bread is kind of like it just came out of a bag from the market. The fries however, were delicious. And the free legit peanuts were good, too. They have good music at this location. Don't really think you can compare this chain to In N Out though, they're both different and good in their own ways. We heard so much good things about Five Guys Burger that we have to try it out. The moment you step in side, you will find dirtiness of nut shell (on the table and floor). I would give it a 5 stars for dirtiness, and if you want to seat at a clean table, bring your own wipe to clean it. I order Bacon double cheese burger. The burgers are fresh, I can't complain. I visited the place on 2 separate occasions just to be sure of what i thought. Is it worth all the hype...eh, not really. It's filling, it taste good (it's definitely NOT nasty) but it's nothing I can't do at home. There's no POW, in your face, DAYUUM Mr. Burger, you SEXY-ness about it. The split face, fired on the grill hot dog on the other hand is pretttttttyyyyyy tasty. The fries are decent and they give A LOT of them. The one thing that turns me off about this joint is that when they wrap the food in the foil, the buns and everything inside gets sqooshed!!! The smell that hits your nose as soon as you open the door is incredible!! Even if your not that crazy about the place that smell will definitely drag you to ordering a Burger. The girl at the register was smiling and was very pleasant. We knew what we wanted to we ordered t Quickly. Tried 5 guys today for the first time. First the positive: -Staff was very friendly and helpful. -The food came out pretty quick. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was not very busy. Now the negatives: -The burgers were not very good. They tasted like a burger someone who doesn't cook very often would make at home. I ordered the cheeseburger (which is a double cheeseburger) with mayo, ketchup, grilled onions, lettuce and tomato. -The fries were soft and soggy with way too much seasoning on them. We got them Cajun style which was recommended by the guy taking orders. We had to rub off the seasoning on each fry as they were borderline inedible. -I also ordered the bacon dog with tomato and grilled onions. The first one I got was cold and the bacon was really crispy (way overcooked in my opinion). I approached the front and asked if they could make it again which they did and were very nice about it. When I asked if they had bacon that was a little less cooked they told me all their bacon was pre cooked in the morning. Basically all really crispy. I got the remade dog and it was cooked too much. Burnt on the edges and the bacon was cooked even crisper (and blacker) then before. I took one bite and spit it into my napkin. $7 for this hot dog by the way. -The food is really expensive for such poor quality. We ordered 1 cheeseburger, 2 little cheeseburgers, 1 bacon dog, 1 large fry and 3 small drinks. It was $43. We could've eaten better burgers at in n out for 1/2 the price. Lastly the cashier told us that since we ordered the small drinks in a paper cup, in about an hour the cups would open up and fall apart from the liquid inside. I then said, "isn't that something you guys should fix?" To which he replied, " You guys could get the larger plastic cups for 30 cents more." We opted for the dissolving paper cups which were fine because we finished our meal and drinks in under an hour. And it's not like at some places where they have wood shavings on the floor as part of the atmosphere...but it was where people were eating peanuts and just threw the shells on the floor instead of the trash. I'm still a fan of five guys, but the last time I was there I had a terrible burger. I came during the night and it was not too busy. I ordered my usual and somehow it took forever to get my food. I started to watch the cooks make my burger as my patience grew thin. They probably shouldn't let people watch them if they are being lazy. Every person that worked there looked miserable. It did not seem like any of them wanted to be there and it showed in all the customer's food. Every single burger patty on the grill were charred to a crisp and falling apart. The cooks building the burgers were just throwing all the toppings on top and squishing everything in tin foil. When I finally got my food I was afraid to open my disaster in a bag. When I got home I opened my burger and it fell apart. I looked at my burger patty and I could see the cheese on the other side. If I can see through my patty then it is not a patty. Starting of by saying that Five Guys and In-N-Out are two totally different burger styles. Just because I have heard a lot of people try to compare the two. But these burgers are definitely good!! If there has to be a comparison I would put it up against Red Robin or Islands, only because of the different combinations you can combine to cater to your taste. So in other worlds, like a gourmet burger in a fast food setting. These burgers are hand made (formed) and another thing I like , is they use fresh jalapenos, not pickled. therefore giving a better flavor of the jalapeno in the burger. however they do serve a very large portion of fries, a small can feed 2 easily, possibly 3 people. Truly had an amazing experience this past Friday. We arrived 15 minutes before closing, and put in a fairly large order. The cashier was very polite, and seemed to genuinely enjoy taking our order. We ordered two large fries for a group of six, and when I checked the bags. It seemed as though they had only filled the large cup with fries, rather than putting an extra scoop of fries in the bag, as they usually do. I asked one of the workers if they had changed their portion, and he promptly added a heaping scoop to both fries, going above my expectations.
