I like Five Guys. I've been going to the Northridge location for several years and I was glad the Lake Balboa location opened up. I love how juicy and flavorful their burgers are and the ability to customize your burgers with raw onions, grilled onions, mustard, ketchup, lettuce, tomatoes, grilled mushrooms....even A1 steak sauce. Yum! Plus their cajun fries are to die for! It's nice they offer complementary peanuts while you wait. This location also has the freestyle Coke machines. The only two things I would like is more seating inside. I don't like the high tables. I also wish that Five Guys started carrying turkey burgers. That would be awesome. read more

I think this burger joint is underrated.... I first tried 5 guys on my way to Vegas about a year ago & couldn't remember the last time I had such a juicy burger so full of flavor! Each of the times I've eaten a 5 guys burger since, I've been satiated completely! The ingredients tastes so fresh and 5 guys is unique in its use of peanut oil for French Frying which truly gives the fries a deliciousness in its own category. Even the buns are made from scratch exclusively for 5 guys & are steamy fresh & tasty when unwrapped. I always come to this location on my lunch breaks and typically I have zero complaints but today was different. While waiting for my food all the guys in the kitchen were full on arguing with each other about the orders. It wasn't subtle. Not only was that off putting but because of the confusion amongst them they forgot to put bacon on my burger. I'm hoping this is just a one time thing but in reality I was super uncomfortable and wanted to get out of there as soon as possible. I really wish my burger had bacon too! read more

This place can be pricey but I wouldn't mind paying if the quality of the food was great. The last couple times I went, I got a "little cheeseburger" for almost $10 with no fries included. Burger was cold, cheese was not melted at all, and the top bun was soggy. I picked it up right away, so I don't know how it was cold. Maybe it's the location but I will not be going back. Tried Five Guys for the first time. It was a huge disappointment. The place is nice and the service is very friendly. But the burger itself is awful. I've been waiting for this new location to open for a long time. I'm a big fan of Five Guys. The I used to have a fairly long drive to my nearest location and burgers just aren't nearly as good if they sit too long. This new location was impeccable but they just opened and the staff clearly were all still training. This did create issues that I'm sure they will work out with time. They were apologetic and offered me a free drink. If this was an older location I would have complained. I will cut them I will review again after my next visit. I'm just glad they are finally open. I had such a bad experience at the last Five Guys that I ate at I have avoided them for a long time. However I thought that in the interest of fairness I would try another site. I had a much better experience this time. I stopped in at this site today and ordered the cheeseburger "all the way" (but minus ketchup). This means it comes with all of the adds listed as such on the board, including pickle, lettuce, tomato, mustard, grilled onions, etc. You can also pick and choose each and every item to your taste. Being able to customize your burger is a big plus for me. And no ketchup, yay! Makes for a very tasty burger. The good: -Restaurant was clean and well air-conditioned on a hot day. -The staff was very positive and engaging. Christian R. was my order taker and he was just a delightful bright star to deal with. -Although each burger is cooked to order, the wait was not excessive. -The burger this time came cooked perfectly, big thick and juicy with just a trace of pink inside, and not burned to a crisp, dry and blackened like my last experience at the other site. -All elements of the burger were fresh. -Iced tea was delicious and there is a selection of four flavors including unsweetened. -They have hot dogs which I did not try-but might next time. -Classic Rock was playing in the dining room. The so-so: -They don't peel the potatoes for their french fries. This is a culinary crime. However, in this case, about half of the fries in my order had no skin on them and were twice-cooked as advertised on the Five Guys website, so I was able to eat about half of them. They were slightly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. This is how it is supposed to be done (as invented by the Belgians-not the French-years ago, and yes they completely peel their potatoes) and kudos for that. However, Five Guys, peel the damn potatoes first! When cooked with skins on, the taste is usually negatively affected and is a potential health hazard due to the presence of toxic Solanine in the skins. The 50% of the fries today were actually edible and almost tasty, which I attribute to frying in peanut oil as they advertise. I am not allergic to peanuts or their byproducts, but to those who have a peanut allergy, be advised. The not so good: -The burger is messy and falls apart no matter how you eat it. It comes to go wrapped in aluminum foil which is good to stop leakage, but they need to use a burger inner wrap like traditional burger places use to contain the parts and keep the burger together while eating. -No drive thru. -Opens at 11 AM, too late for most of my lunches. Open at 10 AM please. -Pricey. I am not a big fan of flat griddled burgers like these and In-and-Out and McDonald's-I like them grilled over fire-The Habit produces a grilled, better tasting burger for the same price or less, and has french fries cooked the right way without skins. However for being flat griddled, this burger today was okay. -No onion rings offered. -No chicken or fish options. I am surprised that Five Guys has such a following especially with all of their competition from The Habit and other venues who actually flame-grill their burgers and peel and fry their fries correctly. However, this is a good burger by itself although pricey. Will I return, possibly, and it would be specifically for the great burger, but next time will order a dog in lieu of french fries. read more

Wow!! I had eaten here earlier today and boy is it delicious! I wouldn't expect five guys to do none the less. When you first walk in your nostrils are greeted with fresh hamburger patties on the grille, and those fresh non refrigerated Idaho potato fries. I ordered the double burger with pickles, lettuce, bacon, jalapeños, and bbq sauce. And it is so mouth watering that you just keep indulging bite after bite. This is the Five Guys to go to, make the drive you'll be glad you did..The staff at this location is always in high spirits. The restaurant is kept very clean. I'm leaving a review not for their great service and excellent food but because my sons' school bus as involved in a car accident right in front of the plaza the restaurant is in. Somehow management of this location was made aware of this. Kid in a hot day in a hot bus and they took it upon themselves to take them water. The kids couldn't leave the scene of the accident 'till CHP and bus supervisor arrive. They were miserable but the staff at Five Guys did a good deed.
