I admit it: I am completely nostalgic for California's Habit Burger and In-N-Out cheeseburgers. They are THE BEST (along with Redrum Burger in Davis, CA). I thought Washington state was doomed for having neither a Habit Burger nor an In-N-Out, that is, until I stepped foot into Five Guys and the wonderful aroma greeted me. There's a reason why, on a Friday night, this place is jam-packed with people of all ages, with a line almost to the door. Their burgers are all about $5 each (I say "about" because the bacon cheeseburgers are $5.19) AND you can add whatever toppings/as many toppings as you like on your burger for FREE. So you can put jalapenos, ketchup, mustard, mayo, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, lettuce, tomato, pickles, etc. all for FREE. Also, everything on the menu is reasonably priced. The food is hot and served quickly, and is just plain DELICIOUS. Their cajun fries are pretty tasty, but I still prefer just the regular "Five Guys" style fries. Hot, juicy, fresh, and tasty. That's what these burgers are. And not very expensive, either, due to the simple menu and sparse, industrial decor. We ordered cheeseburgers 'with everything'. Mine was minus pickle and add A-1 sauce. A few pickles still managed to show up on mine, but hers had a generous portion. The A-1 sauce added some kick. We both thought the grilled onions and mushrooms were done just right. As were the meat patties. The buns almost didn't stand up to the double patty burger with all the condiments. Fries were thick cut and nicely done, somewhere between steak fries and the greasy strings that Dick's serves. All-in-all a delicious experience. Dick's might have the edge on price and shake availability. But Five Guys gives you topping choices and better fries. read more

I LOVE Five Guys!! Its def our burger-place-of-choice! its a great place for an inexpensive, basic burger with as many or as little of the fixings as you want. Their burgers are grilled perfectly, their bacon is big and crispy, and their fries are amazing (and abundant...don't order the big one for less than 4 people!). We always get the cajun fries but their reg fries are great too - fresh cut and made on site! There's not a lot of variety at Five Guys (no bleu burger, no special versions) - its about as basic as it gets but its GOOD so I really don't miss all the fancy. Mluckily I saw the hair in my burger before I bit into it. Called the store and could only get a hold of the acting manager. Told her what happened, and got a "I'm really sorry about that, ma'am." And "Come back anytime and we will replace your burger." Things happen, I get it. But that's it?!?!?! Not as good as Smashburger back in Colorado but a close second. Also, feel free to grab their nuts...they have a huge bin of peanuts to snack on while you're waiting for your food. And depending on what time you visit you might have to wait a while. But it's well worth the wait and you know it'll be hot and fresh because you can actually see them cooking it. Had the "Little Cheeseburger" and it is a HUGE little cheeseburger..lol.. This place didn't amaze me that much but it's a great place for burgers. They have a lot of toppings available and you can make it to your own liking and just having someone make it for you is always a treat. They give you a mountain of fries and galore of all you can eat peanuts! If you're allergic to peanuts, this is definitely NOT the place for you though.. they cook everything w/ peanut oil and they have peanuts all over the place! The price is a bit expensive though. Just had their burgers last night. I like the no-nonsense interior and the free peanuts while you wait in line. And there was always a line for the one hour I was eating there. Order taking was easy and the cashiers knew their stuff. You choose the burger and any toppings from the list are FREE! Who does that these days? The wait was not short, but not excessive. Had a regular burger "all the way" which means that you get most of their toppings. I was too lazy to pick and choose, so did it their way. The meat was good and cooked perfect. Not over done which makes the patties nice and juicy. The toppings were all fresh. I have three suggestions, 1. don't bother getting bacon b/c there was so much meat and toppings, I didn't taste the bacon. 2. The higher-ups at Five Guys need to get more hefty buns. They were soaked and fell apart during my meal. If it was a bigger, heartier bun, I think my experience would have possibly reached five stars. 3. For me, getting the regular with two patties was too much meat. I should have gone "little" and one patty would have been fine b/c the toppings are a lot. Oh, and they have possibly the best fries I've had in a few years. For straight, plain fries, they were very good. Mine were from Driggs, Idaho. And the regular sized fries fed two people easily and we threw some away. We ordered a large, but the cashier was nice enough to tell us that a regular would suffice. This is one of my favorite restaurants when I lived on the East Coast. Thank goodness they finally opened one of these close to where I currently live. The prices are good, and the wait is not bad-especially since it is fresh. The menu is pretty basic, but if you can master a burger, why would you need a big menu? The side order of fries are enormous, so make sure that you have someone you can share with. Finding a table can sometimes be a struggle, but eventually someone will pack up their grease-stained bag to leave and you can swoop in for their seat. This is my favorite burger joint. We went to Five Guys after a pretty long bike ride and were kinda spacey from low blood sugar so those free peanuts were AWESOME! We didn't know about those so it was a nice surprise. I have to say, these are some good burgers. Like others have said they are big, juicy, and with lotsa topping choices. They are up front about what they will and will not do and obviously proud of the will do list. I liked the simplicity of the red and white decor and the potato bags used to funnel customers to the counter. The fries are super potato-ey and good. We ordered WAY too much-two large orders is like 2 pounds of fries. I did my best. One of the pop machines out of order so it was a little bit of a crush to get to but...we did. 5 Guys gets 5 stars from me for service! After leaving a sushi restaurant across the parking lot without ordering food (long story), we popped into 5 Guys, mentally spent and incredibly hungry. I think the staff here has been unusually well trained, they took super good care of us, and even helped us fix a mistake that we made in our order. I am a fan once in a while when I am in the mood for a greasy gut bomb and a ton of fry's. I do love their fry's Most of the time I come here at lunch time during the week and it is PACKED. They have enough staff on hand to cover it but it still takes a while since everything is made to order and fresh. I like that you can call and place your order ahead. The dining room in this place is SPOTLESS. There is always some one out wiping tables, sweeping, stocking etc. It is probably the cleanest fast food place that you can go to. I have been here a couple of times, and the food quality has been very consistent. The burgers taste great and is made fresh with what you want on it. The french fries, especially the cajun seasoned ones are one of the best fries you can find around the area. Since the fries here are made with peanut oil, I would attribute to the texture. I would say my only gripe is the wait time since this place is usually packed. But hey, well worth the quality. There is Red Robin very close, but based on the price and food I would rather go to Five Guys unless I wanted a bunch of workers to sing for me on my birthday... The burgers here are the best I have had with few exceptions. I wish they had milkshakes like I have seen at other locations but aside from that, there is nothing to complain about at all. I would recommend buying burgers here but your side of fries elsewhere. They dump such a huge amount of salt on your fries that you can't taste anything but the saltiness. Their burgers are the best! Whenever I'm craving a burger, I come here. They're pricey but it's worth every penny. They have peanuts you can snack on while you wait which is a bit weird to me but they're free so it's whatever. Their fries could be much better though. Food was pretty good. Bae and I got the bacon cheese burger. It was very moist and not over cooked. Good amount of toppings and they put the sauce on the side by request. Almost got the large size fries but was told it feeds 4-5 people by the cashier. He was helpful when we were ordering. So we opted for an order of regular fries, which they fill the cup and then dump another load on top. The fries were a little too salty, next time I would ask them to hold the salt. The fries needed 1-2 more minutes in the fryer, a tab but undercooked. With all that said, we still ate it all. First time here and when I walked it my first impression was that it was a clean establishment. I would come back for sure and just note the minor changes. This place serves really great burgers and fries with portions that will make you wish you got the small instead of the medium. Seriously, the size of the servings of fries is astounding at how they can pack all the fries they can into the cup, then put another scoop loosely into the bag. Let's just say it's a great amount of food for the price you pay. The food's quality is great and the prices aren't too much if you stick to the smaller sizes, and trust me, you won't need to go any larger than the small unless you're sharing with 2 other people. The service is pretty quick and painless, and I love the soda machine they have that let's you customize the flavor of your drink. However, with that said, the food's a little pricey if you go into the larger sizes like medium, especially if you're ordering for two or more. I've had the price go to about twenty dollars, and I left feeling like I could have gone to a cheaper place. The food is great, but it can make your wallet a little empty sometimes. I finally tried this place, after everyone kept telling how good the burger was. I was happy this place gave you free grilled onions and mushroom. After recieving my burger, i was very disapponted. it did not come with any condiments. I took back my burger, the gal told me I had to order everything seperate. I explain to her that I did order the works. She gave the condiments on the side and I placed it on my burger. It made it taste much better, but I thought Burger Master taste much better. Five Guys is definitely worth a visit. The decor is that generic 50's nostalgia but I do not go to a burger joint for the decor I go for the burgers. The service was friendly and helpful and he gave us the obligatory explanation how the ordering worked since it was our first time there. Five guys isn't really fast food I would consider it more medium food like Fatburger,Teddy's Bigger Burgers and Red Mill Burger. But it is definitely worth the wait. The burgers are juicy and delicious and I really loved the variety of toppings that you can get for your burger and the freshly cut fries(I got cajun) are really tasty. In my opinion these burgers are on par with IN-N-OUT(sorry, I don't drink their kool aid) and their fries are far superior to in and out's. On the local level Red Mill and Teddy's are still the best burgers around but five guys is still a great alternative, hence the four stars. read more

Five Guys is a burger chain that started in Arlington, VA and have since, expanded all over the county. We are lucky enough to have one in Renton and one in Seattle. What I ordered when I went to Five Guys was a bacon cheeseburger. When I took my first bite of the burger, it was just heaven on earth. It has two patties, lots of cheese and bacon. Then you can choose which free toppings you want like mayo, relish, onions, lettuce, pickles, tomatoes, grilled onions, grilled mushrooms, jalapeno peppers, green peppers, A1 Steak Sauce, ketchup, BBQ sauce, mustard and hot sauce. Another thing is that the meat is fresh, not frozen. They do have "little" burgers for kids but I was really hungry so I ordered the regular size. And the fries are just amazing since they're cooked in peanut oil. They also sell hot dogs and grilled cheese sandwiches. While you're waiting you can enjoy free peanuts, they have boxes of them all over the place. So if you are deciding between Five Guys or Red Robin for burgers, you should try Five Guys. read more

It's been a while since I've been to Five Guys. Wow this was disappointing. $7 for a mediocre mini cheeseburger? Are you kidding?? 3 bites in and the bun was totally sogged out. This was way more expensive and way less tasty than a cheeseburger from Dick's. Just check out this pricing structure: Mini Hamburger: $5.99 Mini Cheeseburger: $6.89 Mini Bacon Cheeseburger $7.89 90 cents for a slice of cheese? $1.90 for cheese and some bacon? We were planning on eating a nice, healthy dinner at home... when we were diverted by a text from friends informing us if we wanted to grab burgers with them, we were welcome to accompany them on a trip to Five Guys. Neither boyfriend or I had ever been there before, so off we went... We ended up there right around 7:30 and it was crazy busy -- people were camping the table spawn and literally running to tables as they came up. In spite of that, the employees were really cheerful and seemed to be used to the atmosphere, not the least bit frazzled. When we got to the register, we were asked if we had ever been to Five Guys and had it explained to us that the little burger was one patty, regular was two, all the condiments were free, etc. So we each ordered a little bacon cheeseburger with everything, and I added jalapenos. We also ordered a regular order of the cajun fries. Eventually, as we also stood around waiting for a table, our food came up -- it was only about 7 or so minutes. However, right as we went to pick up our food some ladies who had just ordered pushed past us and snagged a table that was just emptying up. Obviously that's not the problem of the employees, but it is a warning that you'll have to probably be quite assertive to ensure you have a seat to eat in if you come during busy-time. We got a seat after a couple minutes of waiting [and me telling a kid who tried to push past me that we already had our food and this was our table, effectively making me feel like a bitch, but whatever, I was hungry]... as we sat down, I took a couple bites of my burger and was wondering where my bacon was. Answer: not in my sandwich! Nor were the jalapenos. Boyfriend's bacon was also MIA. I asked an employee if they could just give me some and we'd add it to our sandwiches no problem, and they gave us three little plastic ramekins of fresh jalapenos and two foil wrapped portions of crunchy (cold) bacon. I was perfectly content with this, and we ended up with probably twice as much as the normal bacon portion because of it [hoorah!]. The huge portion of cajun fries was more than enough to satisfy -- boyfriend loved these, I thought they were just okay, which is probably for the best because I ate considerably less as a result. Overall consensus? This place is overhyped. The friendliness of the employees reminded me of In-N-Out and was definitely the highlight of the visit. The food was just okay, I realized I wasn't a fan of the grilled mushrooms. It wasn't worth driving to Renton for but wasn't bad for the price either. This doesnt even hold a candle to the greatest burger that this burger lover has ever tasted, the 'Big Blue' at the Tin Shed & Garden Cafe in Portland. The order of fries is a garbage bag full that no self respecting couple should be able to finish, even 4 people. I don't know why they don't just let you order a small serving.
