We stopped in for lunch at the Salty Blue Fish & Chips. They have a small parking lot or street parking. A nice little place with outdoor seating with umbrellas and indoor table seating. One large table capable of seating 10 people. Otherwise, smaller tables and counter seating. Hayden and Madison were friendly, outgoing, helpful, and made some recommendations for us. As we were visiting, they were really helpful. I like that they offered some other fish like mahi mahi, sea bass, & grouper, as well, as the traditional cod. We ended up going traditional signature cod & chips. Chowder: creamy soup, cod, potato, dill, thyme, spices, & oyster crackers. The soup was not as thick as you would expect, but it was very flavorful and tasty. So, don't expect a thick chowder. Cod Fish & Chips: battered or grilled served with chips or spring salad. A big piece of fish which was perfectly battered and fried to a golden brown. This was so good. You have to go! Come support your local business.

A 5/5 for the adults and 4.75/5 kids. Service was great. Nice clean restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating. The adult size cod fish and chips was really 2 meals for me. I'm not a big fan of battered fish but this is really light, crispy, and thin. Loved it! I could've had the kids size meals and been fine. Both my kids loved their meals the fish and chips and the chicken strips. There are wine and beer choices as well as lemonade and sodas out of the fridge. These are separate from the meals. Their house sauce (it's orange?) was provided with my daughter's chicken strips which was a bit spicy. That's why I knocked off .25. Though we didn't ask for any other sauce choices because my daughter was fine with ketchup. My husband and I enjoyed the orangey house sauce. It's kind of like siracha mayo but way better! Will definitely come again!

I've only been here once, but it made an impression! Came here on one of our recent hot June days. I knew I wanted to eat somewhere outside before wandering around Renton. I remembered Salty Blue was on my list and they had a front patio, so that was THE CHOICE! We found a small table for two right outside their window, just in the shade- perfect for me and my husband. I ordered the cod (battered) fish and chips, I wanted to go simple my first time. When it arrived at the table, it was a huge piece of fish sitting atop plenty of fries! The crispy batter stayed on the fish as I ate- a big plus. I enjoyed it with malt vinegar and an incredible sauce full of dill, and I LOVE dill. The fries were good but slightly soggy, maybe from the fish sitting on top, perhaps I'll immediately push them to the side next time. My husband got the grilled Mahi Mahi with chips. It looked beautiful and he said it tasted wonderful, even without any sauce or condiments. The servers came outside to check on us a couple times, which was much appreciated! We had our meals with a cold pint of beer each and just loved having delicious food while relaxing in the warm air on a sunny day. One of my favorite things about the food is that you can choose to have your fish & chips either grilled or battered and either with fries or salad. Fantastic for those days when you want something on the lighter side. The menu also has so many other items I'd like to try. Definitely will be back!

Always on a quest for a good fish sandwich, we were in the area and wanted a quick lunch. It's a cute little spot with outdoor seating. The staff was friendly and offered great descriptions of the menu. We went with fish burgers - and opted for fries which were freshly cut with the skin on and potato cakes which were quite substantial. Fun restaurant and vibe- I think they serve beer and wine, too.

First thing I noticed was the CRISP on the batter. I had to try a little ASMR moment and that crisp and crunch sounded perfect! The fish itself was 10/10 Delicious! Perfectly meaty, salty and crispy. I personally like a thick batter as long as it's good and I very much enjoyed this one! The tartar sauce was herbier than usual and I really liked it, I honestly could have used a 2nd one so something to remember for next time! The fries were chunky and salty, also a 10/10!

This place is situated in a small multi restaurant building. The restaurant has 6-8 small tables and one large 8 person variety. There are 4 tables outside. When we arrived at 5:30pm on a Friday, most of the tables were taken. Ordering is done at the front counter. The chowder is full of fish, celery, dill and potatoes. The soup consistency is more milky than thick creamy. Overall a decent soup. The cod was moist and flaky with large pieces of fish flesh. The seabass is a bit more dense but still cooked well. The grouper is very flaky almost near a black cod texture. All of the fish choices were good. I'm not a fry guy but they give you a lot.

I was thoroughly impressed with this place! They have tasty fish and chips with lots of flavor and good portion sizes. Overall, I highly recommend and I would come back!

I had seen this place recommended online and I was intrigued because they had the giant pieces of fish, just like Proper Fish on Bainbridge Island which I love. We came around noon on a Sunday and it wasn't too busy but there were still a decent number of people flowing in. You order at the counter and then they bring you your food when its ready. I got the cod and chips, with sweet potato fries instead of regular (for $2 more). The fish was gigantic and well fried, though I think it was a bit underseasoned. The tarter sauce was good but a little on the lemon-ey side for me. I did really enjoy the sweet potato fries - crispy and fluffy. It's a big plate of food for a pretty reasonable price. I did enjoy it, but it didn't leave a really lasting impression so I wouldn't go out of my way for it.

Cod fish and chips. 10"-11" fillet over melt in your mouth fries.

Hot and freshly prepared. All fish and chips are prepared as a single large fillet. My cod was 10"-11" long easily. Fries I think are double fried (blanched) and have a melt in your mouth texture. More limp than crispy... party due tonthe double fry method and served underneath the fish, they tend to steam. Super friendly service. It pays to come during off peak hours. Plenty of seats available at 4pm on a Saturday. Small parking lot. A few patio tables with umbrellas. Watch out fornthe big pothole in the middle of the parking lot.

This has been on my must go to list and it didn't miss a beat when it comes to great fish and chips. For starters the cod was very moist, delicate, flaky, but had a very firm texture, and had the right amount of batter and crispiness. The thick cut fresh - not frozen - potatoes and deep fried and crisp to perfection had me wanting more after eating what was on my plate. I also enjoyed the tartar sauce which wasn't the sweet pickly type and make sure to get an extra one cuz you'll want to double coat your fish and chips. The servers were great and got my food out quickly. The interior was very clean and you can sit in or outside. Love the price point and a good variety of items on the menu. Definitely will put this on my regular stops list!

First meal on trip to Seattle in Renton. Delicious fish for lunch. Hot and prepared to order. Flaky, tasty. Potato's cakes very good as well. Small store but very nice inside. Order at the counter and servers bring food out. Great stop if you're near Renton for lunch.

Was honestly leaning toward a full 5 stars after this visit, but since I've only eaten here once so far I'll hold that final judgment until I make it back again which I absolutely will soon. The fish burger was fantastic. Perfectly cooked, incredibly fresh tasting, and one of those sandwiches where after the first bite you immediately know someone in the kitchen actually cares. Easily one of the better fish sandwiches I've had around Seattle recently. The chowder was the only thing that held me back slightly. For my personal taste it was a bit more watery than I typically prefer, as I usually lean toward a thicker richer chowder. That said, the flavor itself was excellent and honestly overcame most of that initial thought after a few bites. What truly stood out though was the service. Absolutely fantastic people here. Genuine, attentive, welcoming, and the kind of staff that makes a place memorable beyond just the food. That level of attentiveness and care honestly feels rare nowadays and they deserve full marks for hospitality alone. Overall this place left a very strong impression on me. Great seafood, quality ingredients, and a spot I'm genuinely looking forward to revisiting soon. I can already tell this may end up becoming a regular stop for me after another visit or two.

Small dine in restaurant with a big bang for fish and chips, I'd say the best fish n chips I had in the area! We ordered the basket that came with 2 fish, 2 shrimp, 4 calamari, potato cakes, and fries and slaw! It was great for sharing for 2 people that wanted to try a variety of items. My faaav was the fish and the shrimp. Fish were really big pieces. Their slaw was very refreshing and packed with a slight zest! We did try the chowder, wasn't really hitting for me, it was on a soupier side very liquidy no thickness to it (missing the thickener/roux, flavor was there but would have preferred it to be thickened. All in all, it was a great experience for my first time here. Def would try again!

A fantastic example of a great restaurant with an owner that can't get out of the way. From the…read morereviews and ranking on Google I had very high expectations and drove from my hotel in Tukwila to see this place and overall was very disappointed. The core of this restaurant and its food is great. Fresh meat burgers, grass fed, cooked and ground to order paired with the best possible pairings. The spirit of this restaurant is phenomenal and if someone else were to come in and buy them out and maintain the same business model I could see this restaurant being massively successful as a quick service restaurant model similar to Five Guys or In-and-Out. The *idea* is great. The reality is not. I get the feeling this restaurant has been in a long decline after reading a lot of other reviews and noticing trends. Like other people have mentioned, I walked into the owner at a table using it as an office space on his laptop. Not a great look, especially with the exterior looking how it does, but it's a hole in the wall restaurant from a self made chef who started off in a food truck - best things come in small packages right? I understand not having investment capital or lease permissions to do certain things. The place is empty, just us and the owner at the table. He takes our order, but not before launching into the sales pitch about how good his food is - once again, I get it. I worked in hospitality and restaurants a long time and have been the guy trying to hype up my restaurant or catering service before. He was nice, but his sales pitch quickly turned uncomfortable as he started deriding and complaining about just about everything related to the modern world and food systems, using each grievance as an opportunity to pat himself on the back. It was uncomfortable to say the least - I came for a burger, not a Dr. Oz segment. This continued across the entire meal, and despite trying to give every polite social indicator we weren't interested in talking to him, continued to talk, even after extended periods of silence. Anyway, we ordered the Taco Burger, Luxury Mushroom Burger, and a large order of fries. To start with the good - the fries were delicious, if slightly over salted. They were crispy and well done (A personal favorite, but some may not like that) and the roasted garlic aioli was absolutely phenomenal. The cheese on the burgers was awesome and just this massive blob of pizza commercial stringy goodness. The truffle burger wasn't over-truffled, which is always a risk with truffle products and overall was really great - and the texture of their burgers is something really special. The grind is very lean and almost coarse or shredded, which makes for a really great burger that constantly reminds you that it is a ground steak, not commercial ground beef. However, the food wasn't without faults - the biggest issue was that on the bottom of the taco burger's bun there was a chunk of raw meat smashed into it - not rare or blue, but never-has-seen-fire raw pink ground beef. Not really being that scared of raw meat I didn't say anything but just tore it off and made a hole in the bun when I saw it, but having worked restaurants that's a pretty massive mistake as raw food and prepared food shouldn't be sharing surfaces without sanitizing much less touching. Beyond that, the burger itself was extremely salty, which I'm normally the type of person that likes really salty foods, but it was overwhelming with the taco seasoning just all over it. The other issue I had with it was that the toppings were just kind of indistinguishable, and the whole thing very much just tasted like straight taco seasoning - which made sense once given the context that he made the taco burger "as a joke". Also, the burger was not consistently cooked, with one side being medium and the other side being rare (the color of my husbands burger that was ordered rare) If there was a 2.5 rating, that's what I would give it. To me, a 2 is a restaurant I wouldn't voluntarily go back to but if someone wanted to or it was the only option I would and a 3 is a restaurant that I wouldn't go out of my way to go to, but would maybe stop at if I was in the area or it was convenient. This is somewhere inbetween that. I want to give them another chance and I might - but the cross contamination and horribly uncomfortable experience make me hesitant to try it again - *especially* after seeing how this owner interacts with other bad reviews on Google.

I ordered two burger meals and it came out to $34. I felt like it was a bit overpriced as 1) The burgers are small and 2) you can get a can of soda instead of a fountain drink. Also the fries were soggy (tasted ok). Great customer service as the owner was engaging and welcoming.

We wanted to dine in on a Thursday night after a movie at the Regal but unfortunately got here 15 minutes before their closing time at 10pm so we had to get our food for takeout. That being said, there were some people ahead and behind us lining up to order, so there were still people like us wanting to eat around that time. It is very bright in here for both the dining area and the kitchen, and there are tables for mostly groups of 2-4 people. Once you place your order up at the counter, you can pick up napkins and get condiments like ketchup before your order number on your receipt is called by staff. From all my visits here, you get your food in a brown paper bag whether you choose to dine in or do takeout. In this case, I got a little bacon cheeseburger with a side of little fries, and dang all of this was stuffed into a brown paper bag too and felt pretty heavy. When I got home and opened the bag, there was indeed a ton of fries along with the burger itself. The patty is juicy and full of flavor, and condiments did not fall out as easily from the sesame buns. I only got some of the condiments for this burger and forgot to ask to have it "all the way," which essentially means having everything listed on a list of condiments in my burger. Regardless of that, burger was still really good! They also list on a paper near the front counter the vendor where they get their potatoes for their fries, which I found pretty cool. I haven't been much into burgers lately but this place can do a mean one and still continues do so. I'll be back here whenever I'm close to the area and want something quick to eat!
