I love this place. I've been here a few times, and I'd never been here before. Sorry In-N-Out, but you just got moved DOWN to #2. Five Guys coming in HOT for 1st place. Burgers are juicy and thicc, cheese is fresh, meat is fresh to death (literally), and produce is tasty and also fresh. Fries are seasoned to perfection and a tad soggy (MY FAV), and fat af. They give you a million fries, too. For example, if you order a regular (middle size), then they give you DOUBLE the regular fries. SIGN ME UP! They have one of those dope soda machines like at the movie theaters. I die for this. REFILES ON REFILES. They have a huge vat of peanuts just chilling in the middle of the room for you to nom nom on. Why? Idk, I'm not question it. It is a tad pricey, but honestly, whatever- it is so worth it. I've always heard good reviews about five guys but boy were we disappointed. The onions were in chunks and fell off the burger immediately, it had two little pieces of lettuce and I didn't see any ketchup or mustard as ordered. The fries were over cooked yet not crispy at all. All of the staff there was very nice though, but there was a large tip jar on the counter. I ordered at the counter and picked it up in a bag at the counter, didn't think I should I tip for that. Won't be going back. read more

What can I say! When I've eaten in the restaurant the service has been a bit slow, but the food is good, the permutations of toppings seem endless, the place is clean, and the people are friendly. However, I've tried using the online app over and over hoping that sooner or later they'll get it right! Again I was proven wrong. Every time I have picked up an online order at the given time I've been told I would need to wait a few extra minutes. This was even when the service line wait was short. A good, tasty burger; it's simple but at times it can be hard to find. I also love their peanut oil cooked fries and the big bags of complementary peanuts, it's a nice touch, plus all the various fixings you can put on your burger. The menu is simple, your food is made to order, and the toppings are fresh. They very rarely mess up an order, and it may take a few extra minutes but I know my burger was made fresh. I'm a huge burger snob and this chain has won me over in ways that other burger chains have failed to do. You order a cup of fries, they fill the bag. I love the idea of having free peanuts, because you can eat while you wait to eat! Ha! The prices here are a little bit higher than one would expect but I appreciate the quality and I'm willing to pay for it. This particular location has great customer service. Only the second time that I've been to a Five Guys establishment in my life. Burger was excellent. I got the cheeseburger, which is two patties,uh cheese, and anything else that you deem necessary on the menu board. Fries were also good, they have their own take on french fries here, that are distinguished from other places typical fries. Strawberry shake. One of the best shakes that I have ever had. My one complaint is that I had a tomato on my cheeseburger and I do not think that it was good. One bite was all that it took to make me wonder wtf that I ate. I peeled back the toppings and it was a tomato that was mushed into the cheese and from what I could taste,it was outdated or some form of bacterial.(I have been sick since this morning). This location is fairly new. The burgers here are really good for fast food burgers. The fries are kind of bland but edible. They give a ton of fries. Half of my take out bag was full from the fries for a regular sized order. The burger is large and filling and I just got the regular sized one. Some people say that In-N-Out has better burgers, but not me. They have better burgers here. You can get lots of free toppings on your burger from the basic ketchup and mustard to grilled onions, hot sauce, tomato's, lettuce, raw onions, jalapenos, and a bunch of other items. They also sell grilled cheese sandwiches and hot dogs here. There is a soda machine here that gives you lots of options in the way of drinks. Especially coke. I don't like diet Coke as I prefer diet Pepsi, but the diet vanilla Coke is good. They also offer free peanuts here. The service here is fast and friendly. read more

Is there a 0 star option? Myself and a group of friends decided to try this new Five Guys location so we all rushed over around 10pm... We got out front around 10:05 not knowing they closed at 10 (thought they closed at 11). The doors were still open though and 5 of our other friends had gotten there ten minutes before us and had ordered/ sat down at a table waiting for their food. I kid you not and this is absolutely NO exaggeration -- myself and the girls I was with opened the door, about to walk inside, and 5 people behind the counter (including the janitor, two cashiers, and two burger flippers) legit YELLED at us saying, "We're closed!! GET OUT!" "No, no, get out! Close the door!" I was appalled and jaw dropped. I've never once been treated like that in any establishment. It's one thing to politely let people know you're closed (even though your doors are still open?!)... it's another to yell at your customer and tell them to "get out" of your restaurant. Through the side door, my friends opened the door for us and encouraged us to just come in and sit with them at their table since they had already ordered. None of us were comfortable doing so, but I went in for a quick minute because I felt like I had to say something to the employees. Mind you, I am NOT the type of person to vocalize a complaint; I'm usually really shy about stuff like that & let it go, but this was one of those times I had to say something. I went to the cashiers (the one man who yelled at us the loudest had just gotten off and left), but I told the others that if this is how they want to treat their customers in their first WEEK of opening then I'm not sure how they will attain a fan base whatsoever. I told them how much we all love Five Guys and were so excited to try this new location... in no way is it condoned to YELL at your customers who haven't even walked into the doors and tell them to get out. None of them said anything back to me except one girl who simply apologized once and kept brooming the floor and looking down.. The rest didn't make eye contact with me or say one word. I won't be going back to this location and it's sad that they lost several fans who really love the Five Guys franchise. I can't believe how horrible the customer service was -- especially in your first week of opening!! Do you not want to make the best impression possible!? PS: the cherry on top of all of us -- as we left the restaurant walking to my car, the same man who yelled at us the loudest speeds by in his car going around 35 mph in a PARKING LOT and almost ran over my 16 year old cousin. Didn't brake whatsoever, and if she had been looking down at her phone she would have gotten run over. He didn't pause or ask if she was okay or even slow down... just laughed and kept driving. Pft. I must say I was so happy to eavesdrop the conversation at the counter, so I didn't have to ask all the same questions! Only being my second time here, I felt a bit more prepared ... there is something uneasy about not just plucking an item off of a menu, I feel like I need to INSPECT this menu. I think I start having anxiety attacks when the calories are listed next to each item, and I'm suddenly feeling horrible about every single choice I make. Or even eating ... anything ... ever. But the guy at the counter had a complete mind-link with me. (He must've seen the look of pure exasperation on my face!) When I ordered my burger with everything on it, he said, "OK, Baby Burger with everything." Wait ... I just ordered the normal burger .... 3 stars only because of the food quality. The service is usually quick even w/ a long line. In my experience, the place is never too full. The Cajun fries are a bit over seasoned but the regular ones are food. Shakes nice & thick. The burgers themselves are a bit greasy but much better beef quality than your average jack in the box or fast food burger place, obvi. The sauce options are endless as well as veggies. The regular burgers have 2 parties & the small have 1 but suffice my hunger. Never tried the wieners here. Often times I go to 5Guys and dont have a burger at all. They sell old fashioned hot dogs and in Norcal, that's just not a popular thing. Bacon cheese dog sure hits the spot. Not sure how this stacks up against other Five Guys locations, but after experiencing this hype train for myself, I have come to the conclusion that Five Guys serves what has to be the most over-hyped burger in northern California. Die-hard frequents such as my little brother will likely disagree with me, and might consider shunning me from their clan for such blasphemy, but I say it as I see it - the food was average, the cost was a bit high, the location was way crowded, and the calories were ridiculous. In the city of Davis alone there are at least three superior burger joints: Burgers & Brew, In-N-Out, and The Habit. So, Five Guys fans, I accept your exile with my head held high. It isn't bad, but I had heard so many good things that my expectations were high. I can honestly say that 10 out of 10 times I would rather fork over the extra $3 to eat at Red Robin or Burgers & Brew instead, and 10 out of 10 times I would rather order two burgers at In-N-Out or The Habit at the same price of one Five Guys burger. Sorry, die-hards. It's good, but it is so far from great that it's laughable how hard the place is hyped. You guys need to reconsider where you're setting the bar. read more

Went here after many people in my life have told me Five Guys is as good as it gets, and finally my neighbor said so as well. My wife and I decided to find out for ourselves. I will right off the bat say that the experience was not even close to the hype. They are not an In-N-Out killer, their fries are not better than Red Robin, quite the contrary to both (as the lack of lines will confirm). First the pros: Excellent customer service Peanuts while you wait that are quite yummy. Clean Establishment Cons: Flavorless burgers, ho-hum fries, cold bun. The problem stems from one of policy. They DO NOT SEASON BURGERS UNLESS YOU ASK. Simply put, I can cook better at home, on a bad day as such. No salt on meat = bad recipe. I asked the manager if it was policy not to season their meat on a hunch that it wasn't just a bunk night but due to the nature of this joint that may be the case, she politely confirmed it was policy but that they could season on request off the grill. The problem with this is I've already had a bad experience off the bat, I won't try it again. Unlike Apple who gives you a product you love the first moment you hold it, they are more like HP or Dell, if you didn't ask for it, you don't get it. The other beef (no pun intended) I have with their policy, PEANUT OIL on their fries. Peanut allergies last I checked were incredibly common. My brother in law couldn't step in this establishment as just the oil on the tables would mean a trip to the ER. Cajun Fries I can tell are the better way to go, but was not impressed either. In-N-Out and Red Robin win hands down on the fries contest. As much as I want to like this place, I can't, and it's due to flawed policy on behalf of corporate. I agree with concept of build it how you want, however they should season their beef unless asked not to, and shouldn't use peanut oil. What a great place for a no-frills delicious burger! I had a Little Bacon Cheeseburger, Little Fries and a Regular drink at this Five Guys today and I have eaten nothing else all day. The kid who gave me my fries really hooked me up, I mean he just poured fries upon fries upon fries into the bag and I must have had 3 cups worth of fries to eat instead of 1! The burger was pretty good, too. It wasn't the best burger I ever had but it was much, much better than most of the other fast food places out there, but for some reason I still prefer Carl's Jr. to this place. They have one of those new Coke " 100 flavor " machines and I had a Cherry Mr. Pibb. The syrup to water ratio was excellent so the drink was great. I was VERY satisfied with my meal and I will definitely eat here again! read more

We have visited many burger places over the years, and 5 guys really stands out. The beef patties have great flavor, the toppings are great and not overdone. The bread is firm but not huge. Only reason why I'm giving 2/5 and not 1/5 is because I've BEEN a customer ever since they opened this location but the reason for why I'm writing this review is due to the fact I had a really bad experience my most recent visit and will most likely not come back anymore. I placed an online order for a hot dog, a burger, a share of fries, and two mlikshakes. I arrived at the restaurant exactly on time for when I was supposed to pick up the order. The meal was all set and ready to go [other than the shakes as they make it when you get there to be consumed as fresh as possible]. Picked up my meal, told the cashier I would like to get my milkshakes. At this point in time, there was no one in line waiting to place an order. The cashier then starts making the shakes and as they're just about done, two people enter the restaurant and cashier told me 'Sorry can you hold on a minute? I have to help these customers first.' I was a bit surprised because I thought they would've told the new customers to give them a minute or two to finish up the shakes but I told them ok, I'll wait. But then as they're taking the two customers' orders, three more customers walk in and at this point, I'm just patiently observing and waiting. After those initial two customers finish, they go onto helping the three. While they're helping those three customers, another seven or so walk in and it didn't look like the employee was going to finish making my shakes anytime soon so I intervene and ask "will it take a long time to finish making the shakes?" They then proceed to tell me "I'm sorry but I have to assist new customers first." I'm thinking what...so does that mean if customers keep walking in, I'll have to wait, half hour, 45 minutes just to get my two shakes? At this point, I've already waited a solid 5-7 minutes. They could tell I was becoming heated so they called their coworker to finish up the shakes and I just took it and left. Keep in mind I had already taken delivery of my food so that's already 5-7 minutes of time I could've been on my way back home WHILE the food is already cooling down. As soon as I got back home, I called customer service and filed a complaint. They told me the district manager would be informed and someone would be reaching out to me. Guess what? No one did. I also called the store manager and the manager was ONLY willing to give me a refund on the shakes but ONLY IF I brought the receipt back into the store. Please, I don't have all the time in the world and your store shouldn't be the one making the requests and limiting customer's options for compensation if you guys messed up. The more I thought about it, the more it made no sense at all. At the end of the day, I ALREADY paid for my food, I am technically a customer, waiting for my order TO BE COMPLETELY DELIVERED, I should've been served first. Oh and my burger and hot dog were luke warm by the time we got to eating them. Smashburger does a much better job. We've gotten plenty of shakes from them, they understand how the process runs and even during peak time, you get your food in a reasonable time. I love the food here! I've been here a few times, not much stood out but the food. Which is the reason I keep coming back... Today was different. The guy who took our order was so chipper & happy. His great customer service convinced me to write this review. Along with great food, we got great customer service. Even though all he did was take our order, that 3-5 min interaction is important. He seemed happy with his job which gives off the impression that 5 Guys is a great place to work. We said no thank you to drinks but right away he gave us to small cups to grab water while we wait. I really appreciated that because I was thirsty but I don't drink soda & why pay $2.50 for a cup?!? So I was able to enjoyably wait for my food. The first Five Guys I have ever been to was on Curtner, and I was happy to hear that a new Five Guys was opening closer to my area. Five Guys is a great alternative for switching it up from In-n-out or any other quick burger place. Their menu is simple but offers a variety of condiments such as A1 sauce, BBQ sauce, hot sauce, and other traditional condiments like relish, onions, and pickles.. Total nightmare for the parent of a child who is allergic to peanuts. Peanuts in the shell available free in bins with shovels, fries cooked in peanut oil. AVOID! AND, the burgers were not great either. My son said his tasted like grease. Daughter did not like open face hot dog. The only cheese they offer is American ("cheese food"). The only redeeming quality is that I, as a vegetarian, appreciated that they offered a grilled vegetable sandwich. Many burger places do not. Dining room staff was helpful and polite. The first I heard of Five Guys was from my brothers when I visited FL.. A little while before they came to the west coast. They insisted it was just as good as In-N-Out, is not better. My feelings for when I first tried and my most recent visit is just about the same. It's okay. I think the biggest PRO they have is the variety of toppings they have. This place was super crowded when we were here. Parking was a problem due to the multiple restaurants nearby along with a Pink Berry that always draws a crowd. I had to follow people leaving to get a space. Once inside, there was a long line but it moved pretty quickly- sort of. It was very noisy due to the amount of people there and food preparers yelling out when orders are up. The place was packed with wall to wall people eating and more people hovering around ready to snap up a vacant table. Free peanuts are available so the floor and tables had peanut shells all over. There was a worker frantically trying to sweep and clear the tables to keep the herd moving. We spotted a group of teens ready to leave so rushed over to claim their spot. We brushed the peanut shells to the side hoping the cleanup person would soon come. Next was the drink machine. There are 2 fancy computerized touch screen drink machines each which had a line of kids in front. The machine allows you to get mixtures of soft drinks but if the kid in front of you wants a vanilla-coke mixed with raspberry root beer mixed with lime....getting a drink took far too long and after trying the mix I selected I thought to myself "this is terrible!" I went over and scooped out some peanuts and brought them over to the table when they shouted our number. We weren't paying attention and the guy was literally singing out the numbers so he had to repeat many times before we realized it was our number. I went over and was handed 2 large bags. One was spotted with growing oil stains so that would be the fries. The other bag had foil-wrapped burgers with number stickers stuck on. Ok who ordered a number 1? Huh? Ok rocket science. They number them in the order that you placed your order. Wished they would have just said so I wouldn't have looked like a moron opening each one. At this time the girl with a broom makes it to us so we get out of the way so she can wipe the peanut shells off the table and sweep the shells from the floor. Clean table and no more shells under our feet. What now? Ketchup Ok. At the ketchup dispenser. Two of them, the first is empty and the second is ready to run out. Pushing the lever squirts out just a little. Ok fine. 10 quick pushes and the bottom of the container is covered. Not enough, I want more. One powerful slam and a splash. Ketchup on my shirt. Forget it, I don't want ketchup anymore. I got a "cheeseburger " which is really a double burger. Their "burger" is a double and their "small burger" is a single. I assumed the small would be a kid-sized burger. Ok the burger was good but I should have ordered the small one. I think it's better than In-N-out. The fries are good but oily. They are dumped into a cup with extra fries overflowing into the bag. There were a lot of over cooked small scrap pieces in the mix but those are my favorite. So it's just a Five Guys. You know it'll be good. Husband and I have been eating a primarily vegan/vegetarian diet lately and haven't had red meat in months. This location opened up a few months ago (?) and it's closer to our house than the one on Almaden; so we decided to come by for a special treat as well checking this spot out. Overall, what you'd expect from Five Guys. Quality burgers and excellent fries. And one of those cool Coke Freestyle machines! The space is a little odd and kinda cramped; but I'm pretty sure this used to be two separate businesses before (The Ice cream place & something else) with the wall knocked down now. That being said..I don't know if we'll come back to this location. Like I said; we haven't eaten red meat in months; so I'm not sure if this is a direction that ALL Five Guys are going, but the service was almost TOO friendly. I felt like I was on The Price is Right...every time an order was ready; they would announce it and shout "Come on Dowwwwn!" Also..it's a fast food place. I don't expect (or want) table service. I finally gave in. As a California native, I didn't want it to be true, but Five Guys now makes my favorite burger. I always get a cheeseburger (two patties) with a variety of toppings, and they have a lot to choose from. The best part is the meat; it falls apart in your mouth. The actual reason for this review?
