I haven't had a Five Guys burger in many years so I decided to scratch that itch. I decided to have lunch there. The people were nice and the place is well .. like every other Five Guys. I have to say it was a little disappointing. While it wasn't very busy and I dined in, the cheeseburger I had wasn't very hot. I actually didn't finish it and threw it away. The fries were fine. For the price, more than 20 dollars for a cheeseburger, fries, and regular drink, you could do better. read more

I DoorDash in south bend almost every night and get orders from here often late at night. There has not been one single time they have had the customers order ready on time or even close. Every time I come in for an order I end spending 10-20 minutes waiting. There was even a time they told me someone had stole one of my orders and they could not replace it without DoorDash calling, which they did, and still did not make it. It hurt my DoorDash rating because I had to cancel. Although I have not ate at this location I will just say the customer service is very very poor. read more

Five guys is good...the burger is 100% cow which is nice. Service is usually brutally quick and efficient. The fries are really good, and I dont care mucj for fries....but they make them the way fries should be made. Fresh clean potatoes go directly into 350*f oil and are cooked crispy and salted nicely. An order of fries is huge....one order feeds 3 ppl. They have cajun seasoned fries and those are good too. read more

Was at a Notre Dame admitted students event and got to this location 20 minutes before closing on a Sunday night--they got slammed with a line out the door and I was really impressed with how they handled the unexpected rush. I haven't been in a Five Guys for about 8 or 9 months. Today I had half-a-craving for them; here we go... I fell in love with Five Guys when I was living in Florida around 2009. I wrote them great reviews and ate there WAY TOO MUCH!!! (2 or 3 times per week!) I've had some bad experiences at Five Guys, especially here in the Michiana area, so quite bluntly, I just lost my appetite for them. Tonight I went to the Eddy Street, Notre Dame location. I ordered the double burger with a medium fries, well-done (as in crispy), no-salt. The store was very busy, but they also had about 10 employees behind the counter. My number was called after about 15 minutes and I tore the bag open to make my ad-hoc place-mat for my food. Right away I could tell the fries were not well-done!!!! DAMN THEM! The fries were mostly pasty-white, mushy and not golden-brown crispy. DAMN THEM! I went back to the counter and very calmly and quietly asked why my fries weren't WELL-DONE and the manager said "Oh, we will RE-MAKE those for you right away!" I went back to my table and started eating my burger. It was fine, but not the epicurean delight and sensory bacchanal I seemed to remember from times past. It also was just sorta warm, certainly the burger I GOT was NOT HOT in any SPOT! I nibbled at the mushy-white fries and it only pissed me off. I expect MORE from a place that charges $12.00 for a burger, fries and a Coke!!! After 10 minutes someone hollered that my fries were ready. I walked over and got them, they were finally made correctly! So, Five Guys HAS THE ABILITY to make fries well-done; WHY COULDN'T THEY HAVE JUST DONE THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE?...before half my burger was gone??? Somebody reading this is going to think this all sounds petty or nit-picky; BUT Five Guys sells itself as THE BEST OF THE BEST in burger joints, and they charge the high prices to go along with that image! Great juicy burgers and amazing fries at a great value! Five Guys is the standard I set for any burger or fries I eat elsewhere. Little versions of the burgers mean 1 patty, while the non-little version means 2 patties. For me, the little version is plenty to fill me up. All the burger toppings are free and delicious! I usually get everything ("all the way"). Little bacon cheeseburger all the way: T his was juicy and delicious, and all the toppings added a nice blend of flavors and textures. However, the bacon wasn't that good. I'm not sure if there wasn't enough bacon or if it just wasn't cooked that well, but it felt like there wasn't much bacon on the burger. Next time, I would just order a bacon-less burger. However, the burger was delicious overall. Little regular fries: The little fries is actually a lot. Five Guys make my favorite fries -- thick-cut fries that are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The fries come in a cup, and there are always extra scattered around the brown bag. Little Cajun style fries: Get these if you want some more spices & seasonings on top of your regular fries. I got these freshly made, and they were delicious! The seasonings added more dimensions to the fries compared to the normal fries. They were a little bit too seasoned for me, so I would ask for slightly less seasoning next time. But overall, they were fresh, hot, and delicious! The staff is friendly and quick with your order. The place is clean, with lots of wooden tables for seating. There's also tables and umbrellas outside for additional seating. This store also has fancy Coke machines. The food here is delicious and reasonably priced. We've heard rave reviews for this place from folks in the Detroit area, so when we spotted an outlet just around the corner from our hotel, we decided to try it. Nice juicy burgers on a par with many decent bar burgers I've tasted in the past. I love the selection of toppings and opted for lettuce, pickles, mayo, and hot sauce--the only thing that would have made it better would be if they offered sliced olives as one of the add-on selections. And like bar burgers, they had more than there share of grease...which is why they're so good...and why I can't eat them too often :) They had more than ample staff, they filled my order accurately and quickly, and the staff was pleasant. This is a nation wide chain restaurant. It is mostly carry out but has indoor seating as well. Their main choice of food is the hamburger with choices of different sizes. However it also offers hot dogs and ice cream shakes and soft drinks. Their French fries are also a high lite with a choice of servings. They have bags of potatoes piled on the floor and indicate from where they were grown. The hamburgers and fries are somewhat greasy but taste great. There are complementary peanuts in the shell for the customers while waiting. It's all self serve. One other thing---this is not a place to go if you are looking for low calorie, low fat, and low salt. However I like it a lot. read more

I went to five guys for a quick burger and fries. I was disappointed when the order took 45 mins and my mothers order came out wrong. Sad to say this franchise doesn't live up to the quality brand across the country. Management seemed to not care and offered little care for the lack of service. A simple apology would have been appreciated but unfortunately that seemed to be too much work for the employees who angrily make the order after we kindly asked if our burgers were on the way due to the almost hour long wait. Awesome for a fast food place! They have one of those cool touch screen soda machines where you can do like 50 million different combos of syrup. They lost a star because there are peanuts ALL OVER the restaurant, like just stacked up on the floor. This place is literally a death trap for people with peanut allergies. You'd think that, considering how many people have nut allergies, they wouldn't do that... or at least have the peanuts in one corner, far away from seating. This is the spot to be late at night at Eddy Street. It's open until 4 am on Friday and Saturday nights (or should I say Saturday and Sunday mornings?), which is perfect for the crowds that are inevitable after the 3 am bar closings. The food is up-to-par when compared to the other Five Guys joints I've visited. The fries are always hot and plentiful in the bag - gotta love it when you get an extra scoop of fries on top of the size you ordered. Good crispness on the outside but tender and soft in the middle - an example for fries around the world. Their fries are probably my favorite of the fast casual or fast food options, and they are even better with cajun seasoning. The burgers are fantastic too. All the free toppings you want, the cheese is melted and rich, the meat is cooked properly and tastes wonderful, the bacon is always crispy...one of my favorite burgers, to be honest. I heard about this place but had never tried it and a while ago a friend mentioned it. I walked in and the place is small and so I go look at the menu and place my order and I waited patiently for my food. I ordered the smaller burger and a regular order of fries. A few minutes go by and I hear my number being called and I go up and get my food. I literally stopped right in the middle of the place and looked in and saw how many french fries were in the bag and I said HOLY **** and I looked at my friend and he smiled and said I know they give you a lot of fries. That is the understatement of the year my friends. If you truly LOVE hot french fries and don't care about the calories or fat grams then you will love this place. The burger I ate here was small and overcooked, and tasted almost wholly of nothing. I say "almost wholly" because one small bite tasted faintly of meat, in a generic kind of way (one could tell it was beef by a process of elimination: it clearly wasn't lamb, or pork, or venison, or . . . . So it must have been beef). On the plus side, I couldn't detect any artificial flavorings. I didn't try any of the toppings. In a place that's aspiring to offer more than just junk food, one might be forgiven for hoping that at least some of the dressings would be freshly made, perhaps even in house, from fresh ingredients. Not a bit of it. The only things on offer were commercially available junk products. Hugely disappointing. But all is not lost: another, much better, chain is next door, for the same price. read more
