I wasn't overly impressed by the food but it wasn't bad. I did like the selections you have to add on the burger. One thing I wasn't aware of was that if you order the burger not being "little" you are actually getting a double. So it was way more food then I expected. I am giving Five Guys 5 stars, because, in my opinion, they have the best fast, casual hamburger around. On top of that, no one comes close to beating their fries. I know it is sac religious in Southern California to not give the award to In-n-Out, but really??? There is no comparison. Five Guys burgers have more meat, are juicier, and just have more flavor, plus you can customize it more...and the fries, they are no contest. Great burger! Got the dbl chz "all the way" with A1 sauce and devoured it in 3.6 seconds. Came in at 9pm and everything was fresh. Fries had good flavor and were plentiful. Save your money & grill it yourself or go to The Habit or In-n-Out. We heard all the hype about this place so we decided to try it. Well for one thing it's expensive for a mediocre burger/fries - almost $20 for a large cheeseburger (double patty), Jr. cheeseburger (single patty), 1 order of cajun fries & 2 drinks. On both of our burgers the cheese was barely melted and the bun fell apart while eating - basically a complete mess. The meat itself was of very good quality and the cajun fries had good taste but should have been cooked much longer. Bottom line: The free peanuts are the consolation prize. read more

I was really hoping this might rival other So. Cal burgers, so I had to try it. Over $43 for 2 mini bacon cheese burgers, 2 reg burgers, 2 small fries (cajun & regular) 4 small drinks. I guess you pay for all those free toppings and peanuts whether you order them or not. The burgers taste like almost any average burger. The bacon was nice and crispy but that's not enough to save it. The bun barley supports the mini-burger, the regular burger is just a mess and falls apart after one bite. Fries are soggy, cajun ones at least taste better. Better burgers, shorter lines, nicer dinning rooms and cheaper prices can be found everywhere. Habit, Islands, Chilis, Johnnie Rockets, Boulevard Burgers, Chef Burger.....and the winner bar none IN-N-OUT. This place makes me feel sorry for the East coast for yet one more reason. read more

I still don't like the fries, and even with how good the burger is, it's still a bit pricey for a burger. Tried Five Guys for the first time and I was a little disappointed after all the hype. My burger was okay, the beef patties were of good quality, but were a little bland tasting. The fries were okay as well. Price wise, it wasn't worth it imho. I prefer The Habbit and In-N-Out over Five Guys. read more

Great food! Our order was complete in good time. The fries are pretty thick and with the perfect amount of salt and the right amount of crispy. Three small cheeseburgers, one regular fry and a large soda was $25. We shared the regular fry and for three of us, it was more than enough! This is my first review ever. I went here for Lunch around 11:20am this morning. The place was already full of customers and about 10 in line. My freinds have all told be about how great this place is but I find it hard to believe a burger can be that good. So here is how my visit went. I walked in and was greated right away. Not with a phoney greeting but a real one. As I waited in line the first thing I noticed was all the potato bags and peanut boxes around. When I got up to the counter I noticed the employees were so freakin cheerfull and talking it was almost scary. The cashier was attentive and even though the phone was ringing in her ear she never stopped for a second and only focused on me. She took my order walking me through the process of ordering a burger that is not pre decided for me. I ordered mine "all the way" and some cajon fries and a coke. The cashier even told me her name. I was amazed that it took less then 3 minuted to recieve my food and the place was packed by then with people and I mean packed with about 60 people. Not only was it fast it was the juciest burger I have ever had and the cajun fries are addicting and freaking out of this world. I would have never even tried the cajun fries but the manager who said his name was Scott told me if I did not love the cajun fries he would replace them with regular freis and give me my money back. Thats crazy I could have scored free fries and my money back but I could not they were just to freakin tasty. Anyway the lady in the dining room offered to refill my drink and got me some peanuts. Everyone told me Five Guys is the In N Out of the east coast but these two establishments have so little in common it's not worth comparing them to each other. I had the cheeseburger, french fries and a soda. My meal cost over $11. The burger reminded me of a Wendy's cheeseburger but with fresher ingredients. The extra toppings were a nice touch and their french fries were good but there's nothing really special about that. All in all, for the price, I will not be going back there. read more

Fries are excellent and burgers are pretty good. However, it is very expensive to bring the kids, who don't appreciate the quality. Also, the soda is way overpriced. This makes the price/value/quality not worth a visit more than every few months unless I am without the kids. In'n Out still has a much better value/quality ratio so they will still get my weekly visit. read more

heard this place was "really good" and had read its a fast growing business, so i figured it was something special! i was wrong.. went with a friend, for 2 cheeseburgers fries n drinks i paid $30!! everything is a la Carte, would b nice if we can just get a Combo. the burger had NOTHING special. and the bun was cold. they offer many FREE toppings!!!! yeah, your paying $6 for it!! thats not free. i did get the cajun fries, which are pretty good, but its just the seasoning, the actual fries are too greasy and slightly burned. but they do give u a ton of them! so bottom line, good fries.. The place is pretty unique. I do like the idea of the fries in a cup as it is different, and you get a ton! The burgers however, are a little on the expensive side. We decided to check out the Five Guys Burgers & Fries in Thousand Oaks, Ca ,Store # CA-1117, at 487 N. Moorpark Rd, today after hearing all the hype. Ordered double burger rare (they ONLY COOK THEIR BURGERS WELL DONE) with cheese, with large fries, well done ), asked for mayo, tomato, lettuce and grilled onion on the burger. A second after I ordered and paid with my credit card, I forgot to ask for an untoasted bun so I asked them for the bun not to be toasted. We're talking seconds here. When my order was called and I retrieved my bag, I opened the foil to see horribly cooked, hard burgers. After taking a bite into the bland hard, dry meat, I returned to the counter, told a counter employee that the burger was awful, I wanted to return the burger and have my credit card reimbursed. The manager, a very rude young man, was called who told me he would not return my money because he had to replace the bun twice--gee, I only asked once. He really was a piece of work--should definitely not work there. By the way, the fries were nothing to write home about, either--tasteless. When I got out to the car, I called my credit card company to notify them about this situation. On Monday I will call the Five Guys office at 1-866-345-GUYS and let them know about their employee and this matter. This store hasn't been open very long--less than a month, I believe. If this is the way they treat customers, they are not going to have very many. The store was very noisy and it was hard to sit across from my friend and hear what she was saying. Obviously the manager does not know how to interact with customers and definitely should have some anger management training and learn how to behave decently and courteously with customers. You can be damn sure my friends and I will never go there again. By the way, my friend said her burger was just as bad, but she threw her's away. My order cost $10.86 So, to recap::FOOD--tasteless, hard and awful; CUSTOMER SERVICE--nonexistent; FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL EMPLOYEES--none. We then went over to In-N-Out Burger at 1550 Newbury Rd., Thousand Oaks, Ca, ordered a double double burger RARE with cheese, untoasted bun, grilled onions, tomato, lettuce, special sauce and WELL DONE FRIES, all for $4.76. AND BOY, WAS IT EVER GOOD. You can get two orders at In-N-Out for the price of one order at Five Guys Burgers and Fries. IMAGINE THAT-- ESPECIALLY IN TODAY'S ECONOMY. Unfortunately, the lowest rating here on YELP has to be one star--if it was up to me there would be a place for no stars for this Five Guys Burgers and Fries. FOLLOW-UP: 8/11/10 Received a phone call from General Manager of the store; will refund the money and we are to be his guests for a full meal. The Five Guys burger is terrific. I loved the variety of the toppings, particularly the fried onions & mushrooms liberally smothered over a tasty double burger. This is the most filling fast food burger I've tasted. The Cajun fries were a great variation but a little too salty for my taste. Next time I'll ask to lighten up on the salt. I really like the outside and inside of the store with the red checkers the seating is great and nice. The food is really good and the burgers are great and i like the fat fries options are great they aren't just fat soft potatoes with no flavor that are crispy and yummy and my favorite part of the meal. read more
