Holy goodness. I was blown away when I first walked in this place. There were so many great looking donuts that I didn't know what to get. Would definitely recommend getting there before they open because they got packed real quick. Luckily I planned ahead and was able to get in the front of the line. The donuts themselves were larger than most donuts and were so soft and tasty. My favorite one by far was the maple bacon(real bacon) and the Take 5 weekend special. Stumbled across this place a few months ago & holy cow... if MySpace were still a thing, Five-O would definitely in my top 8. They have a donut for every person; cake lovers, hard core yeast fans, even those who tend to be unenthused to sprinkles or anything kitschy! Great donuts!!! We went here after going to dunken donuts and finding their selection was minimal. The selection at Five-O was very interesting they had a donut that looked like a birthday cake. I enjoyed a glazed donut with whipped cream and blueberries, so delicious! Even there choc glazed and white powder donuts my kids where Munching down on. The shop is small but very inviting and the waitress was especially kind and didn't rush us in ordering but took her time to tell us all about the different varieties of donuts. Let it be known, I will gladly pay $40 for exceptional doughnuts. These doughnuts, however, are mediocre to say the least. They are Dunkin quality doughnuts overdressed in less than stellar toppings. They looked beautiful and I had high hopes but was let down with the first bite. I tried several flavors and they all disappointed. If you're looking to spend $40 on basic, average quality doughnuts, then go buy 5 dozen doughnuts from Dunkin rather than wasting your time here. read more

We stopped at Five-O Donut for the first time to get some donuts. Got the chocolate iced, glazed, vanilla sprinkles, and (square shaped!) glazed croissant donuts. These donuts are the bees knees! We went as a group of 6, at around 10 am on Saturday. There was still a long line! And were sold out of a couple flavors well before we had arrived. We had a selection of donuts including the sprinkle, animal cookie sprinkle, regular glaze, peach pie, and a few donut holes. All of which were incredible! The prices were high, but you pay for what you get! Gourmet donuts with incredible attention to detail. We decided to eat or donuts there. I've been following their Facebook page for a few weeks now, we live in the Tampa Bay Area, so we don't get to Sarasota too frequently. It was on my list for my mini weekend getaway to try. I was up at 745 on Sunday morning to get there...lol We got the shop at 810am, Sunday and there was a little line of about 8 people. We waited only ten minutes in line. I contacted this company a month ago in hopes that fiance and I would be able to hire them as our dessert caterer for my wedding. We are not locals but are having our wedding the next town over from where the shop is located. The reason I am giving two stars only is due to the lack of communication and how long it took to receive responses from the company once I tried setting up a tasting appointment. Unfortunately the donuts look better then they taste. The blueberry cake donut tasted like burned oil...which is sad since cake donuts are my favorite. The apple fritter is not a conventional apple fritter, it is a yeast donut with dry apples inside. The Oreo donut looked very good but was also incredibly dry (not sure if the donuts where even fresh). The last two donuts we got (pumpkin and cronut) are the only thing that saved this review. The cronut was super light, buttery, and flaky and the pumpkin had a great filling and was very soft yeast filled donut. The service was also a little off putting; there is a sign that says ask about our juices...but be aware that doing so will get you a death stare, eye roll, and delayed response as if you actually committed a crime, ironically. Overall I had very high hopes for this place (even had it marked on my yelp for over a year) and it simply did not deliver or even meet minimal expectations based on quality and service. I hope this experience is better for others and the donuts are freshly made. read more

Best donuts in the area. Their specialty donuts and long johns are to die for. The maple bacon has thick cut pieces of maple bacon in the maple icing. They have a long john with oreos on the top in the whipped topping and a fantastic cream filling. The raspberry filled long johns are great. The donuts are absolutely amazing! No one has better donuts. The experience is always stressful. Nothing is labeled. Staff shout over each other. You feel rushed while trying to decide what you want to order yet deciding is challenging when you can't tell what anything is. A menu or signs or chalkboard would be extremely helpful!! read more

I picked up a dozen for the office and since I arrived a bit late, I did not get to try a doughnut I really wanted...The Elvis. Wow, we try to shop local but you guys aren't helping us. This is the second time we have tried to order donuts in advance and the kid that took our order yesterday forgot to prepare it this morning at the agreed upon time. His excuse was they are really busy and he didn't have time. (The store was empty at 8:45am mind you). He quickly threw a dozen donuts into 2 boxes, smearing glaze all over the inside and the outside of the box. The actually donuts looked like a 3 year old packed them. We had to ask him to redo it.
