We were looking for a good burger Friday night and decided to try Five Points after seeing them listed in Newsday's Best Burger listing. We were not disappointed. We shared the mac and cheeses appetizer and it was delicious. Our burgers came out cooked perfectly, mine medium rare and hers medium well. The meat was seasoned perfectly and the grilled bun was very good too. The fries weren't hot, so not very good. For the price, you can't go wrong. We will definitely be back. read more

Came here for dinner tonight with high expectations as last time my wife and I tried but it was a 45 minute wait. Place is small and cozy which makes for a nice ambience. Seems to be very kid friendly. Ordered the onion straws and was very disappointed. They were tough, dry, oily, and not even hot. Seems like it was made ahead before our order was put in and left to keep warm until someone orders them. Seems like a logical idea because it is a burger topping but seriously, someone should be checking the quality before serving it. Service is blah. Im not expecting a fine dining service but the waitress didnt seem to care about being a server but just to take the order, bring the food and then bring the check. She obviously saw that we didnt even touch the onion straws but did not ask if someone was wrong. Burgers arent bad here. Seems like the same meat and bread with just different toppings. I give the burgers a 3 star rating. The rustic looking country white bun isnt bad at all. Im more of a brioche or softer style burger bun kinda guy. Coleslaw was more than lacking flavor, it lacked soul and seasoning kinda which summarizes my first and possibly last experience at Five Points Cafe. What makes this place survives is because its possibly the closest burger joint in Sayville and Long islanders seem to love to support the locals which is nice. Second time going on a beautiful summer Sunday evening. The live music was great both times. The food was good but it would be great if it was actually warm when they brought it out. Second time going and the service both times was horrible. It takes forever to get your food and even longer to get your check. They literally forget you are even there. First time going to this place after reading a lot of good things about the burgers of late. Because of the press we went around 5 with the kids (4 and 5) and got a table right away---but going a bit later would have been a wait. Food is good -however you know when you go to busy restaurants with great management and well -trained service people and you know when you go to a relaxed establishments with little management, poor training, and workers with little regard for customer 's experience -.here a hostess may stand around doing nothing rather than attending to ignored tables-or to find a too -busy waitress to help a table of two who have been sitting there for ten minutes- it is clearly out of some of the staffs job description to support each other -last time we were there - two tables were upset- waitress ignored a table then confused order-and another full table left after being ignored-from top down- if staff doesn't have common customer service skills- you need to teach them. read more

I eat here quite often and find the food good. That being said the chefs temperature of cooking the burgers varies. Its uncomfortable, lots of kids, small space and they have plastic cutlery. Also some nights they have live music but its so loud you walk in and walk out. Imagine a concert in a space as big as your living room. Its best to go at lunch or late. read more

Upped them to 4 stars. Service quality has improved the last few times that I've been there, and the burgers are delicious. Although I liked the outdoor seating and live music (as long as you're not one of the first tables next to the speaker in which case forget about hearing what anyone else at your table says), I was appalled by the burger. The meat was good but the chef decided to make it an obesity burger - there was a thick layer of blue cheese topped with a generous portion of fried onion rings on a very chunky bun. The whole thing is probably 2 days worth of calories. We also got an avocado salad and it seemed like they wanted to make it look impressive but really it was just a bucket of lettuce with a few tomatos and pieces of avocado. read more

Who wouldn't enjoy visiting a cafe named after a historic loc. in the city were poverty and sickness reigned? Oh, sorry, but true. A group of us singles arrived on an early Sun. evening. They don't take reservations, but I was told to call a hour in advance and they would see to a table for our large group... which they did. We were warmly welcomed. Had I known that there was outdoor seating, I would have preferred to be a part of the motorcycles roaring past in line with the people in cars (cagers) and lots of sidewalk strollers. Very cool. The burgers were big and juicy with a choice of sauces. The special sauce is not a MickyD type of sauce...no, it is a hot, spicy, smoky BBQ. My "topless" chicken came bun-less and resting on a bed of greens. It was all happy and seductively juicy white breast meat sliced and fork ready.The addition of chipotle sauce put me in hog heaven. It might take a while to get served but the food is fresh upon arrival. While we waited I noticed a handsome, well groomed, over fifty dude in jeans and a black Harley Davidson shirt. I am not attracted to any Tom, Dick and Terrance so it was nice to see him..and his girlfriend....dang-it. I am sure we all will go back. It was fun, friendly, busy, bustling and laid back. Surprisingly, the bar was empty...too early I will assume for a good throw back. Single men, please wear tee shirts announcing...single and looking...I know I will be looking. Great variety of burger items. People tend to enjoy the sweet potato fries especially the glaze, but its a bit too sweet for my liking. I do appreciate that 'Downtown Burgers at five points Cafe' is listed as 'Five Points Cafe', which fits their ambience. Every effort has been made to display a comfortable, welcoming air. Their menu offers much more than their signage infers. My wife and I split a BLT and fries; washed down with an iced-tea. The sandwich was served on lightly toasted marble rye, had a stack of 6-8 slices of carefully-prepared Applewood bacon, a spread of mayo and the requisite slices tomato and leaf-romaine lettuce. All of which is not remarkably special, but considering the lunch choices served up by the local eateries, the 'Five Points Cafe' should be a consideration to help satisfy your "I need some lunch now, belly-grumble". One small note: You'll receive your beverage in a thin plastic (throw-away) cup. I'm not sure the reason for this choice. ???. Enjoy! read more

The worst breakfast I've ever had. The omelettes are cooked in a pan from an infomercial and have pancake batter in them. The sautéed spinach was made in half a gallon of oil. The butter for my toast was frozen. The cold coffee came from a pot sitting on the counter. The cooks could be heard swearing in the kitchen. This place sucks. read more

Overpriced service poor, sat at an outdoor table for 15 minutes before a waitress even appeared then she told us we had to wait. I should have realized then that this place was not good. They serve with plastic forks and knives. A burger fries and a fish and chips with 2 sangrias cost 55.00 with a tip that i should not have given her. Wow wow what a rip off. Then they say they have the best buns in town the hamburger bun was stale and the burger tiny. Go to crickets down the block it is a better value. This new place is a poor overpriced restaurant. Okay, so they change the prices, but didn't change the website. So I ended up paying $6.00 more. I'm kind of pissed off, but I would have gotten over it except the cobb salad was really weak and my burger was way over done. The prices use to be awesome, but they raised everything $3.00. My first experience with this place was when it first opened. That time I ate inside, and to be honest the service sucked. I can't even remember what I ate that time, so it couldn't have been that great. I gave it a second chance because I'm local and like the idea of the place, but raising prices and not updating the website a big big big fail!!!!
