We have employed this catering service several times. I cannot praise them enough. Miguel is very accommodating, easily agreeing to changes in menu and changes in serving time. The buffet set-up provides a variety of delicious trimmings for the tacos, the beef for the tacos is juicy and tender, the fish option is a nice touch, the roasted vegetables are beautifully done, rice and whole beans are nicely seasoned. Quesadillas for the kids are perfect. Plates, table-ware and napkins are included. Left overs were neatly packaged for us. I tried to call before texting him, but no one picked up & you can't even leave a voicemail bc the mailbox is full. This is a bit upsetting as a previous customer & how I raved about the service. My company use to hire 5 star taco all the time for our big company events and they use to be great and professional, unfortunately we thought we'd receive the same service for my nieces birthday party Easter weekend, we did not. Food was okay, we paid enough for 50 people which includes salsa refills and chip refills. Tacos weren't as meaty as we use to get them. They basically got there, set up, left an older lady in charge to serve all of us and every time we looked over, she was eating the food we paid for! No chip refills or salsa refills. They are suppose to cook everything and put the left overs in a plate if there was any but instead, when I walked over I seen enough meat for 15 tacos but she only gave us 7 tacos to take home and told us no more. I assume she wanted to take the rest home. We paid and still tipped cause that's just how we are but definitely would not hire them again. read more

Amazing food and service! We had Five Star Tacos cater our baby shower this past weekend. It was super easy to book them, price was reasonable/competitive, and the food was super authentic. They provided al pastor/asada/chicken + beans and rice (extra charge). The meats were juicy and flavorful, as well as the rice. Wish they had a storefront nearby so I could get my taco fix on a weekly basis. They have additional extras like agua fresca, horchata, rice/beans, etc for an extra fee which I thought were good options. They even made some of our guests quesadillas and mini burritos. We just hired Five Star Taco Catering for my daughter's college graduation party and it was a blast! From the very beginning they were easy to work with. They had gluten free and soy free tacos which I needed. They were easy to communicate with online and in person. They arrived on time and set it all up pretty quickly. Booked on May 7 for a party on June 4th. I sent a deposit on the May 9th. Received email thursday june 2nd, yesterday indicating that there was an error with the deposit and it was never received. They canceled 2 days before the event. No phone call, texted, or email was ever received leading up to the cancelation. We understand that there was an error, however, as a business, owner Miguel should have followed up earlier to check if I was still interested in the booking instead of suddenly canceling and leaving us stressed and panicked to try and find a way to feed 40+ people the day before the party. read more

I've hired this team for an event at my work and my work has hired them multiple times. They are professional and made payment very easily. They arrive on time and can handle large crowds. You can also add sides like rice and beans and they put out a nice spread of salsas and toppings. They even were able to have some vegan/vegetarian options for some of my guests with dietary restrictions. The tacos were good and they use white corn tortillas. I personally like yellow corn tortillas better but all of my guests were happy and I received a lot of compliments. This is perfect for my 60 guest event but if you have more than that people will have to wait in line. They were so nice they even made some to go plates for us because we didn't have time to eat. Last weekend, we hired "Five Stars Taco" for my daughters Grad party. For the menu, we picked Chicken, Fish and Veggie Tacos along with their traditional chips salsa, cheese, condiments, guacamole etc. We really didn't know what to expect (1st time catering Tacos) and were bit nervous especially when you have a big group coming to the party (~70 guest). The entire experience, right from the start of securing the contract to the end of the party was a memorable experience, one which we and all our guest will remember. Miguel (the owner) was great, helped me with the menu selection (given our taste) and assuring me that our guest would have a great experience. On the day of the party, Samy and his daughter Mariella came early (ahead of the party time) to setup the tent, they bring their own cooking equipment, bring fresh food and cook the food right in front of you and serve hot yummy tacos. They also set up a table on the side for condiments, chips/salsa table. The entire experience, set up, cleanliness and the tacos were just mind blowing. All our guest had nothing but compliments and couldn't stop singing enough praise of the food and the experience. I am a Vegetarian and thoroughly enjoyed the Veg. Tacos. Both Samy and his daughter Mariella were just top notch, cooked and served tacos with a smile (it was a hot day), ensuring that all our guest had a great experience. I had a large corporate event to cater for almost 200 employees and originally called Anytime is Taco Time because of all the good Yelp reviews they had. I was on the phone with Lydia (the owner?) at least twice a week for the month prior to our event. A week before the event, she tells me she already booked someone else on my date. I was pissed, to say the least. How unprofessional. I mean, who does that? Ugh... That's when I called Miguel at 5-Star Tacos and I'm so glad I did. Although I was a little hesitant at first because he only had one Yelp review, it all worked out great! Despite the late notice, he fit us into his busy schedule and gave us the attention he'd give any other client. The food was incredible and every employee I spoke to reaffirmed this - not one complaint. He and his business partner, Maria, were on time, very communicative and so professional. Miguel had me sign a contract and everything. They provided festive Mexican serving dishes for their food with a clean tablecloth and a sarape, chaffing dishes for the rice and beans and even broke out their sombreros! All this, despite the 97 degree mid-afternoon heat while in front of a hot propane-fueled grill! Such hard workers! In fact, everyone loved their food sooo much, that they kept asking us for seconds after their three taco limit. Miguel was nice enough to offer our hungry employees whatever left over he still had on his grill. Yesterday, we had a party for all the August birthdays in the family (there were a lot), and we were totally blown away with Miguel and his staff. Not only was the food super delicious, but the staff was accommodating, friendly, and attentive. The food was amazing, from the meat selection to the variety of salsas, and the agua frescas were out of this world. The one main outstanding thing I'd have to pick as the reason I would hire them again is the simply the staff. Contacted Miguel initially via email and she sent me just the dollar amount quote no other information. But I will say as soon as i called him directly I was able to obtain all the information I needed. I found them desperately three two weeks before my husbands 30th ppl for about 70 guests and they were available thank goodness! I was hesitant to book them because finding a taco cart that ensures the meats aren't dry is difficult, so I prayed it was ok. full service includes cooking 3meats: carne asada, pollo and al pastor. All meats were super delicious and Not dry at all! all juicy! they estimate about 4-5 tacos per person. they also brought chips salsa, cilantro and onions. and they grill jalapeño and onions as well. presentation of everything is what you see in the pics and it was labeled and looked awesome. rice and beans and 30 quesadillas came with an extra charge. and frescas also were available for an additional charge. they bring their own equipment and tables. And provide paper plates and napkins and cutlery as well. Although they did run out of plates, luckily i always have paper plates available. we had Miguel's son as our cook and he was super nice and chill! Not sure what the prices are for other taco catering companies but for their package, esp since rice n beans weren't included it may be on the pricier side. Unfortunately, I decided not to book Five Star Taco Catering because I was having a hard time getting even basic information out of Miguel for a quote. I'm sure their food is great (and it looked good from the pics!), but experiencing this kind of challenge up front made them a no-go for me. I submitted through their online form with the following: Me: "Hi There. We are interested in catering for about 25-30 people on June 2nd at 7pm. Are you available and can we discuss pricing and options?" Here's the exact exchange that followed: Miguel: "is $500" Me: "Hi Miguel, I'll just call. I am not sure from the below if you are available and "what" is $500." Miguel: "yes we are available the price is $500" Me: "Hi Miguel, There seem to be challenges providing the basic information needed to make a decision, so I'll pass." Sammy, Alex, and Pauline (not the owners) showed up a bit early for my daughter's grad party this past Saturday. I wanted to start serving around 6:30 they got there just after 5. I was really concerned ,because we were going to serve appetizers and I knew a bunch of the guest would be showing up after 6. They were very friendly and said no worries they wouldn't start serving until 6:30. Which is exactly what they did. The food was awesome, everyone loved it. I added vegetarian rice and bean as well as roasted veggies. They stay the full two hours for serving. They cleaned up very quickly and left me all the leftovers. There was a lot. We were having a SAFETY celebration (we are a 24 hour operation at SFO) and were happy that Miguel could accommodate our three separate events that totaled 100 people. My brother was having a graduation party and we decided to use Five Star for catering. First of all, they arrived 30 minutes early and asked why we were late when we got home from the graduation. We had said 11:30! But earlier is better than late. They set up very quickly and had a great range of salsas (excellent) and toppings for the tacos. Now - on to the food. The carne asada was definitely the best meat but even that was a bit dry. Great flavors compared to the chicken and pork though. The onions were AMAZING. The veggies weren't cooked as long as I usually like, but they were still good. Overall, it was a good experience but we probably wouldn't use again. I'll just make tacos on my own! read more

Just came back from a birthday party that my friend threw for his gf. He had Five Star cater the event, and they set up their taco bar. I thought the food was really good! They had chicken, steak, and "pineapple pork" (or at least thats what I thought I heard the server call it) as meat options. I also l really liked how they peppered grilled peppers along with grilled onions and the meats. There at a variety of hot sauces, so that everyone could pick their own poison.
