Went here the other evening with family and friends. It was my first time and I really enjoyed it. Lots of outdoor seating and family and dog friendly. I didn't try the food, but I got a flight of beers to try since I couldn't decide. Will definitely be back to try the other beer flavors. I wish I got the girls name who helped us. She explained the menu and everything for us with her coworker and they were honestly the sweetest and just had all around good vibes.

This place has good music but four people behind a bar nobody can clean the bathroom. This is bad management.

This was first time here for us. Friends and frequent flyers suggested this place. So first off, back in the day I use to drink a lot of beer, especially when I finally crawled off my tractor and stumbled out of the field. Farming days. Today not so much, but given that, I still love a nice porter or stout, nitros or not, once in awhile. First item I spied on the menu was a Porter and it was mine. I think my partner had some pilsnerish or hevi thing. Nice indoor area and outside patio. We started outside but moved inside after awhile since the sun kept chasing us. There was a food truck on the street for eats and we also got something from another place down the street. As with the trend now days these beer places are all dog friendly and of course bring the kids and get them started early on the alcohol trajectory of trashed livers. For some reason the parents think it's perfectly ok for the kids to run around recklessly, kick balls and throw objects at unprotected patrons while they keep their dogs on a tight leash. Maybe it should be the other way around. Just something to think about. Overall a nice place with friendly staff and good beer. Also wine selections. Next time we are in the area we will drop in again.

One of my favorite East Bay breweries. The beer garden is very nice with plenty of tables to choose from. Lots of flowers, fire pits, long tables, and umbrellas. They only sell bar snacks, so there is almost always a food truck outside and they allow outside food. I love the Martinez lager and their sour. I am a big sour fan and the pomegranate, plum, prickly pear sour is one of my favorites that I have ever tried! They have lots of space indoors as well. The staff are always friendly. Such a lovely local gem

Love this place. Beautiful and plentiful outdoor seating. Plenty of umbrellas for shade. Good selection of beers. I went for Ghost Town. Great flavor but could have been colder. They usually have a food truck, but you can bring in food from any restaurant around here plenty to choose from.

Five Suns Brewing is such an incredibly comfortable brewery! With plenty of outdoor and indoor seating and a nice open courtyard, this is the place to chill and have a beer... or a glass of wine. It appears they partner with a local winery, Viano Vineyards. I tried their Chardonnay and - even though I'm not really a big Chard fan - it was FANTASTIC! They have a wide variety of quality craft beers. Can't wait to come back! Give it a try; you definitely will be glad you did.

It was raining so we decided to go inside and enjoy our beer. With high ceilings and stone floors, the noise level was a little high, but it calm down after a bit. We were there during a busy period and were immediately greeted at the counter by the smiling Vicki. we made our orders there were four of us so we ordered a variety of beers, sodas, spritzer, and enjoyed ourselves immensely. I really enjoyed the fact that I was able to go in there and people were there with their dogs and their dogs were well-behaved and fun to be with. the general customer grouping was very relaxed and friendly and sharing with each other and it made us feel real comfortable being from another area I am the beer drinker in the group so I ordered which sounded like an interesting choice from me and it was the DIPA. it was so delicious I had to and that encourages me to come back on the next visit and try a flight of the selection.. After parking in the lot next to the brewery and coming around through the front doors, it was easy to see why people would be enticed to sit out in front on a beautiful afternoon and the customer area outside.

For a first timer, I enjoyed Five Suns and would come back if I'm ever again in the area. Located in the heart of downtown Martinez, Five Suns Brewing has a nice outdoor patio that's perfect for a warm day or evening. They seemed to be kid friendly and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. As for the beer, I really enjoyed their sour ale. After my first beer, I wanted to venture and try something else, but the sour was so good I had to order it again. My wife ordered their seltzer and really enjoyed it. The menu seemed to accommodate all of the different needs from pilsners, blondes, stouts, ambers, sours etc.

Sit in the outside patio during nice sunny days and warm night (9/27/24) I really enjoyed the OG Burst with the taste of guava. The Way hazy IPA definitely had some hops. They have a food truck but we did not have food this time around. The bathrooms are kept clean and there is a small public parking lot next to the brewery. I must come back to try out more beer and perhaps the food truck ! The ambiance was great - chill vibes. This is a good place to meet friends.

This is a great place to bring your family in the early afternoon or come with your adult friends at night. They have a great range of food trucks and a great service. The large patio is especially nice. The owners are super cool and love to talk and show around patrons.

For those who don't know, Martinez has a pretty cool craft beer scene and Five Suns seems to be at the heart of it. The brewery itself occupies most of the huge building that Five Suns is in, with a bar and event space in front that opens up to a beer garden with a food truck parked in front. There's a dedicated parking lot which fills up pretty quickly, but street parking is available for the overflow. The indoor space is really nice - there's art from local artists hanging on the walls and the second level mezzanine has a pool table that's totally free to play. The beer itself is great and the seltzer in my opinion is even better! We'll definitely be back to check out the live music events and work our way through the entire beer offering.

If you're looking for a community driven brewery, where the beer is good but the people are better, this is your place. These guys treat you as if you are their friends, and I love that brewing is a passion for them, not just a business. In a world where many other local and neighboring breweries are simply looking to be the next Lagunitas, overloading their menus with hazy IPAs and sours, FiveSuns keeps it simple and delicious. When able, FiveSuns is a must visit. Pop in, grab a beer or fill a growler, and hang with friends. The atmosphere is inviting, fun, and welcoming to all types of groups (i.e. standard millennial craft beer drinkers to families). read more

My favorite thing there is the seltzers that they mix with different flavors. They have 16% alcohol too which is AMAZING! However, it's hit or miss if they even have the seltzers anymore and I'm not a fan of beer so this is not the place for me. One man that works there is super rude, and we got off on the wrong foot. I tried to apologize and make up since something must have been misconstrued and he refused to shake my hand. I can't imagine going back after his rudeness. read more

Went to Five Suns on Saturday to get a growler filled. In these times with the "social distancing" in effect, Five Suns did a great job taking extra precautions to protect their staff and customers. Walking in, you are asked to use hand sanitizer. Then you wait and progress through 5 stations safely distanced from each other. As you approach the bar, the employee double-sanitizes your growler before filling and then once again after filling. Before you pay, they have wiped off the tablet with sanitizing solution (and they do this between every transaction.) Thank you Five Suns for the extra effort! Visited 5 Suns on 3/7/20. What a cool place, nice and open. I loved the warehouse atmosphere with lots of seating choices. There is deck/patio seating in front also. I had the Frenche's cream ale as I only like "lite" beer and really enjoyed it. I will definately return and take friends to try it out too. Dog & kid friendly if you're out on a walk downtown. read more

The new location is fantastic. Once everything is built out and the new brew house comes online, this will hopefully be a 5 star establishment. For now, the beer is a bit lackluster. We had a specialty Porter that was borderline undrinkable. It's surprising that it passed quality control. The other brews were decent but nothing special. In the epic battle currently underway between 5 Suns and Del Cielo in the MTZ, Del Cielo is far out in front in beer quality. Five Suns might have nudged slightly in front on the physical layout, and with a bit more attention to the beer, could eventually reign supreme. For now, 3 Stars, but check it out for sure. read more

Cool new hangout! Just a block down from the Creek Monkey and a few doors down from Del Cielo Brewery! And, Armando's Pub is just around the corner and across the street! Now how is that for you serious beer drinkers? Further, enjoy a walk-about the historic town of Martinez. This place has 7 taps to choose from and a food menu that is partnered with local restaurants. Kid friendly and randomly located in a warehouse location with roll up doors. Guaranteed fun! Went to Five Suns for the first time this past Sunday and was greeted by good attitudes and fun conversation. Got to witness a really cute family take their family photos on their couch which was interesting to see but it made sense because the couch they sat on was beautiful and the wood plank walls(backdrop) would have been beautiful in any picture. There is a very calm vibe with games that can be played all over the brewery, they have outside seating if you wish and THEY ARE DOG FRIENDLY! I don't have a dog but I love dogs so I like when I find out places are dog friendly. Looking forward to the next time I go back. read more

It's the only place in town to stop and have a drink. From their beer to their seltzers along with pairing their awesome food truck selections it's a no brainer to hang out and have fun on any given night. The owners are local and actually grew up in town so it's always a good time with the support that's shown by the patio being a great place to visit and enjoy this home grown business. read more

This is a great local brewery! I love the beers. The only thing I could say negatively is that they are only open Friday through Sunday. The solution to this problem is that I have bought a couple of their small containers so that I can refill them to take home. The containers stay cold for two days out of the refrigerator. I leave mine in the refrigerator so that during the week I can enjoy a glass of beer. It is nice to buy locally AND be able to take it home with you. read more

I very rarely yelp, but some deserve it. Not here to say a lot just give a great review after a great visit. The owners are local brew masters that followed through with a great plan. Location is great, but even more awesome inside. Beer is great (I tried the IPA, Pale Ale, and the Blonde(For the crew). Five Suns is a huge part of the growth in Martinez, they know it and have executed. WOW! I was lucky to meet two of the partners, and, I will tell you they are both two of the most quality people out there. I think their was two other partners there brewing the quality beer they have. Also, Sean and Five Suns Brewery have a set of cornhole boards coming their way, and that set to be showcased at local cornhole tournaments!! Great beer and great family atmosphere. Single folks can have plenty of fun there too! The help there is fantastic. One of the owners is especially terrific; Sean Macias is so helpful. If you're new to the establishment he will go out of his way to direct you to the best beer for your taste. And he is an all around great guy. I love the place read more

Five Suns Brewing is one of the breweries that recently opened up in downtown Martinez! Five Suns offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The atmosphere is very casual and comfortable. The beer was pretty good - lots of options on draft and beer is definitely available to go via growlers. Various board games are available. Dogs are apparently welcome. And, various snacks are available for purchase! Check it out! read more

Five Suns is a great new brewery in downtown Martinez serving up quality craft beers. They have a nice variety of beer styles so there's something for everyone to enjoy. My favorites were the Valkyrie Blonde and the Frenchies Cream Ale! The owners/staff were very friendly and there was plenty of seating. Looking forward to going back! read more

I love this local brewery. Super cozy and cute! The beer is super good- i did the vanilla one? It a light, easy to drink beer. All tall glasses run 5-6 bucks and you can do a mini sampler glass for $2. They have tons of games you can play and seating options. I would guess about a dozen brews to choose from. Kinda chilly/drafty so bring a sweater! Located behind the old bow rack. Happy to have this brewery in mtz!!! All the employees/owners are super cool too. read more

Automatic five stars for bike friendly establishments, especially breweries. This place is legit, though, for the ambience, beers, and awesome service with a smile. It's in a historic warehouse space with roll-up garage-style doors, so the place stays cool even on hot days. Some of the chosen accents have a story behind them, so talk to the owner/bartenders about them for an interesting tale. The patrons are pretty cool, so don't be afraid to let your guard down and mingle. They also sell some locally-provided grub from the nearby restaurants, so you can have your pizza slice and eat it too! read more

Loved ,loved,loved it! Found my new favorite spot to bring friends from out of town. They offer a nice selection beers and source food from a couple spots near by. Martinez is really developing a weekend pulse and five suns is a great addition to the downtown scene. The bartenders are warm and knowledgeable. It also feels good to support these guys and their delicious beer knowing they put in so much work to create a beautiful space. The woodwork on the walls is beautiful and I love all the antique furniture...but the beer is really where it's at :) read more

Welcome to Five Suns Brewing - Martinez's first craft brewery! We are a local group of 5 that grew up in the area brewing beer passionately. Years of work and love of our beer has lead us to our great location in downtown Martinez. Bring the kids, dogs, and order in any food items you like!

History

Established in 2017.

Five Suns Brewing opened the doors late 2017 as the first brewery in Martinez. The five local friends completed the renovations on the weekends between 9-5 jobs and the taproom is beautiful. We continually add more and more to satisfy our thirsty fans.

It literally tastes like there is no alchol, so be careful when you are drinking this! They sneak up on you!! Overall, this is a great brewery! lots of space and natural lighting, the staff is amazing, and their food/drinks and events are some of the best in the east bay!

Five Suns Brewing in Martinez has great beer, no doubt about it. The selection is solid, and the quality speaks for itself. However, the atmosphere left a lot to be desired. The place felt more like a daycare than a brewery, with kids literally running around everywhere. It was chaotic and took away from the experience of enjoying a drink and relaxing. While I appreciate family-friendly spaces, the lack of boundaries here was overwhelming and made it hard to enjoy the visit. Unfortunately, it's enough to make me hesitate about returning. read more

Seems like the Mare Island Brewing staff have nailed doing events here, and all the components for a fun time out, since it's a drive for anyone coming from different directions. All in all, such a great time out. Would love to come back and try a beer flight (beer is made on-site and is so fresh and crisp), house-made cocktail, or even the burger which looked delish. The owner and winemaker greeted us right away and walked us through every pour and the family history behind the label. We did the 5-flight tasting, 12 dollars for 1-ounce pours off a long list of Zinfandels, Petite Sirah, Merlot, Carignan, and more. Here's the part worth knowing: the flight is limited on paper, but he let us re-taste and even poured things not on the list. The 2020 Petite Sirah Hillside and the estate Zinfandels stood out enough for us to take bottles home, and prices were fair. One tasting fee gets applied toward a two-bottle purchase, and it's 20 percent off six or more. Setup is casual and homey. A walk-up wine bar, a front patio with a couple of bistro tables and wine barrels, a single bathroom inside, and a back outdoor area with tables where they run live music when it's happening.
