Went for the biscuits, but our very wise waitress, Adriana, warned us that the biscuits were made with lard. Well that knocked out a bunch or breakfast options. She was so sweet and actually went to the kitchen and marked the menu pointing out lard-free menu choices. On the menu. Using black ink dots. Above and beyond. So we regrouped our breakfast plans and went mainly vegetarian. The Herbivore was absolutely delicious! Antebellum cheese grits topped with garlicky kale, romanesco and a soft boiled egg. We added a second egg. Split with my hubby. So good!! My sister-in-law had the brioche French toast. French toast topped with honey better, fresh berries and pecan granola. Served with maple syrup. Amazing! Added the duck fat breakfast potatoes. Who knew that the flavor would be so enhanced with the onions, peppers and duck fat. Get this side! Not a coffee drinker, but my hubby really enjoyed the coffee that is sourced from Cusco, Peru. Adriana made sure that the cups were always full and hot. The restaurant was very clean and the mood was welcoming and warm. Lighting and mixture of warm wood tones and accent leather created an upscale yet homey vibe. We started with the biscuits and cinnamon roll. I would recommend both. The biscuits came with a jam, honey and whipped butter. The cinnamon roll, which may look a bit underwhelming had a such a great crispy texture on the outside while still being fluffy on the inside. The icing wasn't too sweet and complimented the roll nicely. For the table, we had the pollo frito biscuit w/duck fat potatoes, Brisket Benedict w/okra and the Fixe Breakfast entree w/maple sausage and potatoes. The pollo Frito was delicious, the chicken was seasoned well and maintained crunch even within the biscuit. Duck fat potatoes were also good but were even better after adding some salt. The brisket benny was okay, the texture of the brisket was very odd and didn't really hold up to the egg. Although the okra had a great flavor the batter was a bit too thick which made it chewy. The Fixe breakfast was great and the maple sausage was perfect. Our waitress was Adriana, she was great and very helpful. I wasn't aware you could mix fine cuisine with southern comfort food, but Fixe has done just that. You must try the Fixe biscuits as they're one of a kind! I had the Lobster & Crawfish pot pie and it was fantastic! I do suggest you make reservations if you're planning to eat there as they were not taking walk-ins when we had dinner there. Sweet corn & crab hushpuppies were really good. I even enjoyed with a dab of both the hot sauce and charred corn tartar sauces. The pimento cheese was also good. Not as amazing as I remembered it but the focaccia bread sure was! Eat it while it's warm! Little gem salad was okay but nothing to rave about. Wouldn't order again. (And I love a good salad!) The biscuits with butter, honey & homemade berry jam were delicious! Somewhat sweet and even perfect for dessert in my opinion! Eat them warm!! I got the redfish as entree. It was really cooked perfectly and really good. It was served on top carolina rice grits with local beans which were probably my favorite bites of this meal. I did not prefer the sweet corn chow chow that was drizzled atop the fish. Unnecessary, not my preference, but easy to push aside and continuing to enjoy the meal. The service was decent. Slow on filling our water. My pet peeve is having food, especially hot sauce (wish the hush puppies) on the table before the water. Parking is easy out front or in attached parking garage. All the food here is so good! I love that I can count of its reliability. No matter when I come and with whom ever, it's a hit. Our server was polite and the restaurant is always clean. You ever walk away from an establishment and think "meh" . . . Unfortunately this was it for me. The location of this establishment is surrounded by lots of great shopping, it's next door to a parking garage and the place itself has a nice inside as well as patio seating. So I walked in excited for what was to come. I met my friend for brunch as we took a seat on the patio, (apparently they are pet friendly as there was a dog at the table next to us and at one point it jumped up and started growling and barking at a passing dog), Veronica came over to take our order. I asked for water to start and then got the honey old fashion, my friend also ordered the biscuits to start off with. The drink (honey badger) was nice and STRONG (my friend did not like her drink) and the biscuits (3 to the order) were absolutely delicious (it came with honey, butter and strawberry jam), firm on the outside and fluffy on the inside. Seriously, I was thinking I was in for a treat based on how this started. We put our food order in (fried fish) and when it came to the table, I noticed there were no condiments besides what came on the plate so I was waiting for someone to come back and check on us. Now, they have the salt and pepper fries that came with the order as an appetizer, however there was NOTHING special about the fries. Found out they charge you for hot sauce cause they make it there (response we got was "thought you knew" when asked about the charge) and the fish to me tasted muddy. I found myself constantly looking up and around for the server as I needed more ice, more water, more napkins. We were there for a dinner with a large group. I asked for a salad with no cheese and they literally put more dressing on top of the cheese so I couldn't see it until I started eating. What type of a restaurant does that? What if I was lactose intolerant? The service was a bit disappointing as well but the restaurant was beautiful and the biscuits were to die for. Would I revisit? In 2021, I said... "best biscuits in town." I'm pretty sure that still holds as of now. The biscuits are fluffy, buttery and paired with the best spreads: salted whipped butter, golden natural honey and sweet seasonal jam. You always need to start with an order of these here. Heck, you could go and just get coffee or a cocktail with them. You'd be happy with your breakfast! We were last there with a group so we had an order of biscuits, pimento cheese and entrees. I tried their chicken biscuit sandwich. It had a fried chicken thigh, kale apple slaw and honey. It was delish! Surprisingly, I also really enjoyed the pimento cheese. I tried Fixe for a Saturday brunch. Simply put, the food and drinks are good. We tried the shrimp and grits, French toast, and fried chicken. I'd order each item again. The blueberry mimosa was good too! I wish they had some holiday themed menu items and cocktails. There were several reservation times available days before Saturday. Biscuits are crispy in the outside but pillowy soft inside (and made to order, served with more butter than you'll ever need plus honey and jam) Deviled Eggs: not the creamy type I prefer but good. I came here with a girlfriend who had been wanting to try this spot. Parking is a little tough depending on when you come, but there's also a garage which is really nice. The waiter was really nice and had great recommendations on drinks. And the ambience is nice as well. They have some booths and they have some tables. Everything was clean. The food was good, but I will say that it's an interesting menu if that makes sense. I got the salmon and it was great. We also got the biscuits to share and that was delicious. Had brunch on the patio today with a friend at Fixe. Our server was Veronica, she was kind but wished that she had checked on us a bit more. We both ordered the fish fry and shared Fixe biscuits. The biscuits were DELICIOUS!! I enjoyed the fish fry but my friend wasn't impressed. One star removed because I asked for hot sauce and was charged a $1 yet my friend wasn't. I brought it to Veronica's attention and she said that she assumed I knew since I had some already. I explained that the server who delivered our food never mentioned a cost associated with a condiment. It's the principle that I was charged yet never informed of the cost beforehand. We tried the Deviled Eggs (very mild ham in the yolk mix), Chicken Sandwich (topping is a tangy kale slaw), Brisket Benedict (base is a crispy corn/lentil muffin), & Little Gem Salad (dressing was like buttermilk). Service began fabulous with the hostess alerting me that our reservation was made at the Austin location (failure to read on my part), but we still were seated at our reservation time. Nice! So I needed to do a review for a brunch spot ! My dear friends that I don't get to see much agreed to join me and oh my goodness was this a special treat ! I love the design of the restaurant we felt like we were in our own little world as the chairs are so comfy and the music was just loud enough , Oscar are waiter was wonderful and so attentive. The food was literally outstanding and I love the open kitchen design , I spoke to the manager ( Raleigh ) and she showed me the spaces that you can rent out for a event ! Y'all please put this on your list for your next special dinner .. dinner menu is a little different , we had the chicken sandwich , the amazing French toast , and the pimento cheese , I'm craving all of it and I think I want to come back this weekend and bring my family! I had initially tried the Fixe biscuits while on a shakeout run in Austin. Despite the biscuits being cold at that time, I knew I had to try this place in person. The biscuits at the restaurant are made to order so that they're fresh and warm for serving. The steam was still coming out when I cut the biscuit in half!! They offered honey, apple butter, and butter which perfectly complemented the biscuit. The food was delicious as well. I am pretty sad I discovered this restaurant pretty late. The way I would not hesitate to look grandma square in her flour-dusted face and tell her that her biscuits pale in comparison to Southern House biscuits is unreal. Me and wife came to Fixe to celebrate our anniversary and they did not disappoint. Due to the special occasion we were give a complimentary glass of champagne as we sat down and that was the start of great service. It was Friday night but it wasn't a big crowd. The ambiance gives off a warm comfortable feeling. That also may be due to the open kitchen which I personally love. When you go there you must ordered the biscuits. They are warm, moist and everything you think of when it comes to a biscuit. Not to mention they have a jam and fresh honey to top them with. Chef kiss amazing my favorite thing there by far. While eating biscuits we ordered our drinks which were amazing as well. I ordered a play on an old fashioned style drink and my wife got something with cucumber both were really good. Our entrees were both fish I got mine with grits that was cooked perfectly as well as a seasoned and flaky fish. I highly recommend the Brussel sprouts as well to share as a side. They are well seasoned crispy and very flavorful. This place is, in a word, strange. The biscuits are good, as are the hush puppies. One of us got a steak, which was delicious and tender. The ambience is nice and the service fantastic. All the rest of the food though was terrible. I got the fried chicken, which came as boneless, very fatty thighs, encased in a soggy batter with honey brushed all over it. It was TERRIBLE. That's served with "kale and green apple" according to the menu. In reality, it's served with a cold, flavorless kale salad, which was just weird. The steak came with a cup of what the waiter said was a Gouda fondue; couldn't taste the cheese at all (we had to ask what it was) and it was really liquidy, like buttermilk. I also ordered a little gem salad, which came with romaine lettuce instead of little gem. It supposedly has "aged cheddar dressing." In actuality, it comes with a bland ranch-like dressing that seriously had no flavor, then had standard grated orange cheddar all over the top, pretty gross. We also split a cast iron pecan pie, which does not come in cast iron. It had such a thick, dense crust on it that I could barely cut through it. It was also supposed to come with salted pretzel ice cream--didn't see or taste any pretzels in there. Basically, this place is trying way too hard to fancy Southern food up. It doesn't work. And the food doesn't match the menu descriptions. That fried chicken dish is a travesty. read more
