There is nothing more Southern than a great bowl of grits. If you Google "What are grits?" the answer is simple: grits are a traditional Southern dish made from ground corn, cooked in water or milk until they become thick, warm, and porridge-like. Today was Sunday, and I couldn't imagine anything better than a steaming bowl of grits with melted butter, served alongside a traditional breakfast of eggs, bacon, and a biscuit. Unfortunately, my visit to Paris Coffee Shop delivered the opposite. Something seemed off today at one of my usually favorite local breakfast spots. We smiled. We chatted. But a simple request for lemon with water seemed to be too much for our initial server, who passed us off to someone else. By the time we left, three different servers had been at our table. Still, I sat there holding onto the hope of warm grits and a lovely breakfast. What arrived instead was a bowl of watery liquid with tiny remnants that may have once dreamed of becoming grits, but never quite achieved it. The photo says it all: what I received was more like a memory of grits, floating in hot water. Paris Coffee Shop has usually been one of my favorite local breakfast spots, so I hope this was just an off morning. But today, I left disappointed, still hungry for the breakfast I had imagined, and tragically gritless. read more

Wasn't impressed with the pay to park in their private lot but they do validate it if you eat there. Breakfast is 7a-11a during the week but they do have a section of Breakfast All Day items on their lunch menu. I love they have Happy Hour from 7-9am with drink & appetizer specials - if I worked in the hospital, I'd be there frequently! I enjoyed my BLT that came without mayo as ordered. Good amount of thick cut bacon on buttery toast. It lacked in lettuce and sprouts but I overlooked it since I didn't get wimpy bacon. Fries were average - will try something else next time. We were in the area and looked for a good brunch place. The parking is a bit tricky and you have to pay to park, but they will validate at the end of your meal. We ordered the carnitas hash and omelette and they were both so good; huge portions! I tried their green juice, definitely recommend it if you're into the fresh pressed juices. I wanted to come here for a while now and just haven't had the opportunity. We decided this morning was the time I will start with the only negative about the place. I thought the green peppers were undercooked in the omelette. Now let's jump into all of the positives. The biscuit with sausage gravy was phenomenal. One of the better sausage gravy I have tasted in a restaurant. The refried beans on my wife's breakfast were also some of the best I have ever tasted. I'm not going to say we had to fight over the last couple of bites, but I am bigger than she is. The coffee was delicious, and our server was the bees knees. She was super attentive. Our food came out fast and warm. I think the best part about the service we'll talk about the cooks. My wife likes her hashbrowns well done, and usually when we ask for well down hashbrowns, they came out just like normal hashbrowns however, here, they actually cooked hers. Well done. Sister was in the neighborhood and invited me to lunch. She suggested Paris Coffee Shop, and I happily obliged. The parking situation is a little funky. Signs are posted stating free parking for the diner upon validation. Trying to scan the QR code, the app kept sending me to some site asking to pay $8. Immediately asked the host inside, and he simply said to not worry about registering to park. Didn't make sense, but I didn't worry about it just like he said. Thankfully that was the only blip on the radar. Our server was wonderful! I ordered the chicken fried chicken with cole slaw and french fries along with two biscuits and cream gravy. The french fries could have been a hell of a lot better, but everything else was great. From start to finish, the whole experience was incredible. I'm still enjoying their remodeled restaurant, which seemed clean and well maintained. The weekend menu is breakfast and brunch only. I had an early morning physician's appointment in the medical district. Since it was breakfast time, we decided to drop by one of our fav places for breakfast, Paris Coffee Shop. Each time customers come in, it's like they're family. All are warmly welcomed. We were happy parking was available and there was no wait because my wife and I were both hungry. Both of us ordered the two-egg breakfast. My wife decided on scrambled eggs, bacon, and hash browns. I ordered over easy eggs, sausage patties, hash browns, biscuit and a side of grits. I love grits at breakfast. Of course, piping hot coffee was ordered. What's breakfast without coffee? Our breakfast platters arrived quickly. This place is more like a 3.5 out of 5 stars. I've seen this place multiple times, but actually what drove me to get breakfast here was a post on Instagram. I think we came here close to lunch time and it was still fairly packed. When we tried to get a seat, they said it would be like a 25 minute wait. However, we found two seats at the counter and that was first come first serve and took it. We ended up getting a breakfast sandwich and smothered pork and potato dish. Both items were good, and i think i out of the two, the pork/egg dish was the better one out of the two. The portions were really big and i think for the price its not a terrible deal. The food came out fairly quick and service was prompt. guess that's one of the perks while sitting at the counter. I know this place has a long history in fort worth. Come here to have a classic breakfast and a good coffee or brunch cocktail. Come here with a group of friends and/or family and wait it out if there is a wait. This space is so big and folks are coming in and out so just be a little patient because the food is delicious here and you will leave satisfied. Service was exceptional. I never had less than half a cup of coffee at any given time. Waitstaff are kicking tail here and serving all consistently. We were in a booth nearest the bar side and it was fun to see people walk in, take a seat at the diner, and get settled. My friend and I decided on Paris Coffee Shop for lunch. A cool day, we decided on something simple: a bowl of chicken caldo for me, chili for her. She really enjoyed the chili. W got bowls, deciding we take the leftovers home. My soup was disappointing. It wasn't quite hot enough, which could have been reheated, but I decided not to send it back as we were in a hurry to eat and go. Unfortunately, the chicken in the soup, scant as it was, was stringy and not tender at all. It also had no flavor. The broth didn't taste as if it had been cooked for a while, also very bland flavor. You can get drip coffee, espresso drinks, or a mimosa and you can't go wrong. My preference is to sit at the bar, but they have tons of seating. We were greeted at the door by a nice gentleman that chatted with us about Denver for a second and then seated us in a booth. I liked the seating because then I could people watch around the room. The shop was super cute with their teal colored diner style furniture and open kitchen. The menu wasn't overwhelming but had enough options on it for everyone. I went big with the bucko breakfast. The area and tables are decently clean and I feel like they care about their customers. Fresh of the plane, I went with the Brioche French Toast topped with fresh fruit. The plate was truly loaded down, however the Brioche was a little thick for me. My server was kind enough to swap it out for a Belgian waffle which pretty freaking good if you ask me. Paris does it in style with warm maple syrup. As sides my meal included eggs and bacon.
