Chips and guacamole. The guacamole is delicious but I don't like the chips, they're too thick!

I love this place! The food is delicious, the prices are reasonable, and it's within walking distance of McCormick Place. I work in Chicago quite often, and the area around the convention center has improved tremendously over the years. There are finally some great restaurants nearby, and this place is definitely one of the gems. I'll definitely be back!

3.5 rounded up to 4. That said, can't wait to see what they do here bc it's got a lot of promise. Stopped by for a late lunch and there were 3 other tables. Menu looks good but bc they're still pretty new and going through growing changes, not all of it is available (like flamin hots for the elotes, no horchata, chorizo is on the radar and they're still waiting on liquor license). But a lot of promise! Service was amazing - everyone was super friendly and checked in on us. Really rooting for them. The food - again think they're still fine tuning things. - The best by far was the elotes - creamy, cozy and really flavorful. Got everything in it besides the flaming hots which they were out of. - The campacheco tacos were just ok even though I usually love chorizo. - The steak was a little dry and not really flavorful, missing salt or umami. - The rice and beans were nice and the home made salsa were amazing. Really liked the verde which had a nice kick. Decor is amazing, they've got a cool accent wall and a Selena door so love the aesthetic. Will definitely come back and check them out as they iron our details

In Chicago for work and had a chance to eat at La Calle. The steak tacos were super sabroso. Great meat quality and the amount was great . The salsas were spicy and the food was served quickly. The rice and beans weee a nice touch on the side and the salsa with the chips had enough bite to make you want more. When I'm back in Chicago I will be back at La Calle to have some more tacos to meet the needs of my tastebuds.

Literally what south loop was missing! Amazing spot, authentic Mexican tacos with yummy salsa! I ordered the Campechano & Carne Asada tacos, Chips and Salsa and Agua de Pepino! Everything was so savory! Service was excellent, I dined in and enjoyed the space and artwork! The owner was very nice and friendly! Will definitely be back

Special: skirt steak tacos with beans and rice
    Stephen S.

Was in town for a concert and randomly stopped in with my son for a quick dinner. I'll admit, I was a little worried this might just be another hipster taco spot with a cool vibe but average food. I moved to the Midwest from California, and finding truly good tacos has been a nightmare...so my expectations were low. But this place delivered! I had the special: skirt steak tacos with rice and beans, plus a horchata. The tacos were incredible...simple, authentic, and executed perfectly. The rice and beans were clearly made from scratch and packed with flavor. Honestly the best tacos I've had in years. Only small critiques: the chips seemed store-bought (not a dealbreaker, just not my favorite), and the horchata came out not very cold, looked like it's stored at room temp and cooled with ice. A couple minutes later it was chilled and tasted great. Overall though, this place nails it. Great vibe, friendly service, and amazing food without any gimmicks. This is exactly the kind of spot I'll make sure to come back to every time I'm in Chicago.

It was good, but not spicy enough for me. A bit too pricy for really mid burrito bowl imo.

Ohh! This used to be Windy City Ribs & Whiskey. Remember that! I had a Veggie Burrito. The staff and service are calleriffic.

(inquire about the 4% service charge added) No rice or beans with any of my parties' dishes, not sure if that is an option. Time to be seated was less than five minutes for a party of four around 2:20 PM on a Sunday; busier times or days enforce their 90 minute time limit policy per table. The food was well seasoned, wish I tasted it a little more on the meat itself, yet all the vegetables tasted crisp and fresh. If you are looking to have intimate conversations be prepared to speak a lot louder, the DJ booth by the front keeps it pretty lively, but difficult to hold conversations across the table. Open authentic Mexican soda is always refreshing, and if you're looking for a place that has soft serve margaritas this is one of them. If you notice and unusual wait time or slow service please make your choice accordingly as I started to notice it was a case by case basis like some of the previous reviews had mentioned.

I must admit that I had low expectations because quite frankly, I have not enjoyed Mexican food outside of Mexico or California. However, we were hungry, and it was near where we were staying, so I decided we should check it out, and I am so glad we did! The food was great. Both adults and the VERY picky children in our group all enjoyed our meals. I ordered the green chicken enchiladas and the other adult ordered a chile relleno combo, which I also got to try. Everything was delicious and devoured by all! We were so full but the owner talked us into the chocoflan, and we did not regret trying it. It was soooo good! Speaking of the owner, the service was great. We really enjoyed how he and the rest of the staff were very courteous. It is a small establishment, and it gets a good amount of people, so I assume that there are waits during peak hours. I highly recommend Sabroso! And we plan to return the next time we are in the area.

Spicy and bitterness of the chocolate balanced super well. rice was also cooked perfectly. The shredded beef dish was short rib and mashed potatoes. They were meant to be assembled into a homemade tortilla - a very interesting concept. The homemade tortillas were so warm and fluffy. I have never had such good tortillas.
