Sorry but these were the worst ever tacos that I have ever had!!! While waiting for our order my husband sipped on his horchata and said he already knew the food was not going to be any good. If he can't get horchata right then they most likely will not get the tacos right! Sure enough ... one of the tacos that we ordered was called cilantro lime steak ... why was it ground beef with no hint of cilantro lime flavor. We ordered catering, Taco Bar and all of the food was very fresh and good quality. It was set up for us and each item had a label with the food name and small description. They also had cards to put in front on the food for description. A+ - great place for tacos. read more

Taco Tuesday landed me here, maybe it's because I went around closing but the tacos were a disappointment. The most flavorful taco was the Barbacoa taco but I still wouldn't recommend. The shrimp was very fishy and the slaw/cabbage was dry. The steak was chewy and the chicken taco was rough. I'm no taco expert but this was a let down. However the silver lining the frozen sangria was perfect, the one thing I will say get if you're in need of a drink. This place is always busy. So finding a spot to sit is terrible. I had to scoop in and take over someone's table while they were getting up( basically I'm a savage). The place is also very hot inside. They need air conditioning. We went on a Monday so it was $3 dollar margaritas. The house margarita was amazing but the mango flavor was terrible(also the margaritas are slushee so if you like margaritas on the rocks you will have to wait for it to melt) My friends fish taco was not tasteful. They had burnt the fish. I order a chicken burrito and the burrito completely fell apart the minute I picked it up. So I had to use a spoon to eat the burrito. Say it is not so, Flaco's Tacos, just say it's not so! I'm not altogether sure what they've done in the last few years but none of it has been good for the customer. A different chef? Reduced staff? Change in ingredients? Keeping meats longer than they should? Reduced spices? Removing steps to marinade or ensure quality? I can't really wrap my head around why a place that was once so good is now so bad? 1) I've been there several times over the last 3 1/2 years and even when I dine in my food is not hot. How can you freshly prepare something and it is room temperature? If this isn't the definition of a short cut I don't know what is and it's not possible for something to be fresh off the grill and not hot. So I've gathered while we are waiting for our food it's scooped out of a container of pre-cooked meat and the tortilla is the only thing heated so when we bite into the food it tastes surprisingly bland. They use to serve fresh hot tacos the ingredients cannot make the meat cold and rubbery. It works in reverse the hot meat should heat or melt the ingredients on top. I did not complain that my food was cold, but I overheard another patron say they complained about their cold rubbery food which was replaced with more cold rubbery food. 2) Maybe a different chef but definitely not as good as the person who use to cook. Call him or her and beg them to come back because this place is not the same without them. 3) The drinks (Margaritas) are still good but unfortunately this place is too small to go to just to drink. The constant foot traffic and the fact the food isn't good anymore makes the tasty margaritas obsolete. I can't go in there for margaritas the small eating area, bright lighting doesn't give a bar vibe. A good option, if you are sitting on the patio stop in from a margarita, otherwise don't waste your time. read more

I'm from Guatemala and my boyfriend is from Mexico, his parents cook authentic food all the time, NEVER store bought because no. His parents make tamales, sopas, chili rellenos, tortas, costillas, literally you name it and they've made it. This place deserves more than 5 it is one of the best places for tacos i've had especially out of california! The tacos we got was a DIY and my boyfriend got Carne and Shrimp meanwhile I got Carne and Al pastor, of 6 tacos each. We also ordered their loaded nachos and SO GOOD! The horchata machine wasn't mixing according to the guy who took out order. My boyfriend said it was still very delicious and we've had bad horchata before. The inside was very beautiful and cool considering the outside was pretty hot! The service was amazing the people working there made accommodations if needed and made sure everything was perfect and to our liking. It was very filling and tasty we didn't want to leave! The inside was so nice with beautiful decorations and seating arrangements, unfortunately very small inside but they had 2 seatings tables outside if you wanted it! Bathrooms available in the back and they had small barstool seatings but didn't see anyone sit there in the time we were there. Everyone who says less than 4 stars is wrong. Yes this store may not be authentic mexican food but it was so good and definitely hit the spot for the best in chicago! Super bomb and under rated establishment! They have vegan friendly tacos, as well as meat tacos. The tacos are Street taco size so keep that in mind when ordering. The tacos are very good and full of flavor! They're also pretty inexpensive so you can get more bang for your buck. They also have burritos and huge salad bowls :) the best part are the margarita bottles. The margaritas were stronger than they appeared so don't play around! I'd def recommend! read more

This place used to be good but now it's just a ripoff. I ordered a delivery steak burrito and after having some delivery problems and the food finally got here I took a bite and realized it tasted a little off. I had another bite and realized it was all bean an onion. I opened it up before throwing it out and there was honestly less meat in the burrito than in an Impossible Whopper. Other burrito places load up their food with meat. Flaco's either is hiding something by not serving meat or they're trying to pull a fast one with delivery orders. I called the restaurant to let them know something seemed wrong and they claimed they have new chefs. If their chefs don't know the difference between a steak burrito and a vegetarian burrito they're either really bad cooks or they're getting great tips from penny pinchers. read more

Okay, so I have a decent experience at flaco's when I get it. Their food is pretty good and comes very quick. They have a few tables inside. I typically get tacos or a burrito when I go but they do have some fun combos to grab. There are a few vegetarian options. Their margaritas are super strong and very sugar though so I wouldn't encourage you to get one. read more

Was definitely craving margs on National Margarita Day, and this place was right around the corner from my apartment! The margs here are excellent. I got the raspberry marg - so good but definitely enough tequila to do the job. My friends got the Dos Amigos which was also really great. Next time I come back, I'm definitely gonna try the food because it also looked delicious. The service was quick, and this place was really full on a Tuesday night. Last week, I forgot my laptop here and came back the next day to pick it up. I didn't have high hopes that it would still be there, thinking a random customer snatched it, but I tried anyway. The workers couldn't find it anywhere, as expected, so we looked at the security camera footage to try to see who took it. What we saw stunned us. Approximately 15 minutes after I left the restaurant, leaving the laptop behind, an employee picked it up and handed it to another employee behind the counter. The latter proceeded to take the laptop directly to the back of the restaurant and out the door. Despite knowing precisely which employee stole my expensive work computer, the only response I got from the restaurant's management after a week now was that I should file a police report to see if they can recover it. This place obviously cannot be trusted, and they aren't even willing to question their own employees to recover valuable property they stole. Either the management here is incompetent, or they are in on the whole thing. read more

Omg I wish I lived in Chicago just so I can come every day. It combines two of my favorite things - affordability and deliciousness. There's so many options, so it's great for vegetarians and meat eaters. The place itself has a great ambience, so you could come bring your friends for a quick bite. I've gotten both the street corn taco and the ad show chicken taco. I think that the street corn taco is better because of this amazing chipotle sauce. You could also ask to get some of the sauce on the side. I dipped some of my cheese quesadillas into the sauce and I was on cloud nine. Don't really see all the hype. If you want real tacos go to Little Village. The tacos here really lacked flavor. Tasted very bland. Service was great but never been a fan of places that title their food and try to make it sound all exotic. "Lime Grilled Steak" was dry and lacked flavor. You tasted more tortilla in your bite then the actual meat. "Ancho Chicken" the chicken was not tender. "Al Pastor" which had pineapple. And when executed properly, very delicious. But not in this case. Pineapple did not compliment the al pastor well. Lacked the sweet/hot flavor that it's supposed to have. The "Picadillo" was the only one that was decent.
