Found Beta Bouldering Gym on yelp and gave it a try. Good variety of difficulties. Pink tape being the easiest, white, yellow, green, etc. Might have been the altitude but I struggled with V2-3 climbing which is usually very doable for me. Alas I never managed to send a green tape climb. I got close on a few routes but never managed to top out. I liked the variety of holds and surfaces slab, under hang cave and everything in between. Price was reasonable, $20 tax included for a day pass. I'll try it again the next time I am in flagstaff.

Fair meaning he didn't want to start time on our lane if we wanted to get food to eat while playing. It's a plus even having a snack bar. Then also offering to wait to start time was a nice little bonus. He also wanted to make sure all three people in our party could stick one throw before starting time. Other than axes, this place also lets you throw knives & ninja stars with instruction on how to throw those, too. Near the snack bar there was also an air hockey table, video games & crane games. This facility also has darts and laser tag available, but I did neither of the additional activities. If you're not wearing closed toe shoes, they have loaner crocs up for grabs...although I'm not sure who would wear open toe shoes to this place or why they would.

As it was their first time, they started out very timid, the course took them about an hour the first time through and a lot of coaxing and reassuring, the second and third time through the kids course was done with more confidence and faster with each run. I can't wait to go back and do the adult course and my child keeps saying they can't wait to turn 12 to go up to the top of the trees! We'll definitely be back again, such a fun experience! :-)

By the time we left at 10:00, the parking lot was packed and a car was waiting for us to leave to take our spot. There are several cool things about this trail: it's 5 minutes from downtown Flagstaff, it's also a campground (you have to walk through the campground to get to the trail), it offers rock climbing and it connects with the Arizona Trail. Sandys Canyon Trail is a beautiful hike that offers great views of the San Francisco Peaks as well as canyon walls. The trail itself is pretty short and it ends when it connects with the Arizona Trail. We continued on the AZT for a few more miles. Easy hike, suitable for anyone.

But for the price Flagstaff charges to use the Aquaplex, it is a wonderful place. There are exercise classes that are run by great teachers. Really feel welcome and all levels seem to enjoy. I do not use the childcare but I do see that it is a great option for parents to have their kids in a safe place and get quality care for their children. I don't know what it cost (I'm sure you can call the Aquaplex and find out the cost) but there are a lot of people that use this service that it usually full when I'm in the place. I think it's great to have the kids in an exercise environment running around and swimming rather than have them looking at a screen. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. I find them a real pleasure to interact with. I have been able to ask questions and the staff and managers are quick to help. Parking is abundant and easy to get in and out of the Aquaplex. Brand new when I joined, full of high quality equipment, the gym has everything you need for free weight and machine lifting, stretching and independent cardio. If you are looking for morning (before work) group workouts, this is not the place, but if you have your own workouts and a set of headphones you can use the spin bikes, fancy treadmills, elliptical and stationary cycles. The gym opens early- and the staff are friendly. They recognize all of the morning patrons after just a week or so of attendance. I never used personal training, daytime or evening classes. I also have never had an opportunity to use the climbing wall due to limited hours. All of these are offered as part of the monthly fee, and there are pay for classes and leagues just like other YMCAs. I recommend the Flagstaff YMCA. It's lost some polish over the years, but the Y remains an old standby for my strength and cardio. I think you would like it too.

Jay was the coach, and he welcomed me immediately. While it was a big class, he did a great job of coordinating and the workout got started right on time. He also ran the workout in staggered heats which helped a lot. It wasn't a super technical workout so I didn't get (need) a lot of coaching, but Jay was very attentive to everyone. The members were very friendly and the atmosphere nice and laid back. If I lived in Flag, this would be my gym.
