    Strawberry matcha!
    Julia L.

Best breakfast sandwich ever! I had a strawberry matcha and loved it as well! Customer service was great too:) awesome to find another local business to support! Also as a momma with a lil it was really nice to have a variety of activities to keep my toddler occupied while I ate with two hands- if ya know you know.

The look of this little coffee shop is ADORABLE. I love the books that lined the walls. There are games and books to read. A coloring table is supposed to get added for kids. Books and coffee what could be better? I tried the lavender americano hot this time and it was tasty. A darker roast. They had a lot of treats to try and I will definitely do so next time. It was so cool to get to pick a few stickers that were coffee themed on the way out for free. Such a great theme for a little coffee shop! Free WiFi!

Every visit to Flakes and Fables is a positive one. They have an assortment of beverages for coffee lovers, and those who might prefer a lemonade or non-coffee beverage. The staff is friendly and always asks about customizing the desired level of sweetness for our beverages, which I really appreciate. The pastries are delicious. We've also enjoyed their brownies and the chocolate pistachio croissant. I am personally hooked on the strawberry Nutella croissant with an iced hazelnut latte. The theme of the store is bookish and books by local authors are featured at the counter. It is an ideal place to meet up particularly children for a cozy treat and reading or game. Definitely a new favorite for us!

I stumbled by this place by accident, and it did not disappoint! The staff were very friendly and helpful with the menu. The food was very tasty and the drinks were good. I'd like my a little sweeter but I can definitely ask for that next time. The inside was so nice. A little messy from maybe a rush, but that's okay. I loved that they had games to play as a family as well as all the book decor. I will be going back again soon.

Pros: Ambiance was very nice and eclectic. Electronic paintings on the wall, a book art wall, beautiful artwork in the bathroom. Loved the look of this place. The register person, who I assume is the owner, was insanely nice. He checked in on us just enough, and he got our feedback on the baked goods to give to the baker. Very cool. The food itself was high quality. You can always tell fresh baked stuff from warmed up pastries from bags. Good flavors, a good amount of sweetness, and we had a sandwich that was so lovely. Cons: No cons whatsoever. Tips: Make sure you show up ready to play. Have have free board games for you to grab and play. Love that.

We want more weekend morning coffee shops to chill at, get some work done, play a board game, and eat and drink delicious coffee and pastries and such. Starbies has obviously passed out of the mainstream, so we wanted to check out some local spots. Flakes & Fables is one of those spots we checked out. Ambiance is clean, proud, and a little whimsical. Very interesting artwork adorns the wall, including some absolutely stunning book art that every child should look at and admire. And there's a couple of nice glass cabinets showing off the pastries that are fresh and ready for sale. Very nice look to the place. Service was insanely nice. We had a very nice little conversation with the guy at the counter, the food and drink gets delivered right to the table, and he even checked in on us once or twice to ask how our meal was, talking a little bit about different recipes that the baker is trying out. It was really nice service. As for the food and bev, all so solid. Drinks were good. Not too sweet, not too bitter. No concerns there. We had a little blueberry bundt thing with vanilla icing drizzled all over it. It was very soft and delicate. The blueberry aspect tasted nice and natural, not too sweet. Very good. We also had a nice chocolate/pistachio filled croissant with that same combination on top. This was a very delicate croissant. You can tell that it was baked in house; there were flakes everywhere, on the table, on my lap, it was done very well. With just the right amount of chocolate within, and some very nice chunks of pistachios on top for texture. Just lovely. The last thing I sampled, my main event, was a breakfast sandwich in a nice slice of focaccia. Wow, the height on this thing was impressive. But it was very squishable and edible, because that bread was so airy and buttery. A great combination of butter and salt was in the bread, and the ingredient amount of perfect, too. Loved those nice, strong slices of tomatoes. I could talk about the fun board games they have available to play, but I doubt anyone is even reading this anymore. I was very happy with my visit here. I review places and I don't think about price at all when I do, but if I could make one remark about this place, I don't think their prices were high enough. I think that for comparable food and drink and comparable places, this is the cheapest you'll find it. Which is good for us, but as a small business, you gotta survive. Once you get truly cemented into the community, raise those prices a bit. This is quality stuff.

Small and quaint but DELICIOUS! We had a bacon, egg, cheese, tomato, and avocado spread on ciabatta and it did not disappoint. I love how they have board games and card games to keep you entertained while u wait or give u a reason to just hang out and order dessert. The pistachio chocolate croissant had my daughter asking for one togo.

What a hidden gem! Everything is freshly baked! My latte was delicious! I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon on focaccia and my husband got the breakfast sandwich on a croissant. It was clear that the breads were freshly baked. Highly recommend.

Delicious pastries and empanadas. We both had cappuccinos and shared a few pastries and two empanadas. Everything was delicious and the owners were very nice. They were out of croissants when we were there but we are looking forward to going back to try them.

I rode my bicycle into Oviedo for a visit to Solary Park. I was looking out across the water thinking there really were no places to get a really good cup of coffee downtown. I pedaled up to the shopping center and, lo and behold, Flakes & Fables! Since I had already had something to eat, only a cup of coffee, very rich indeed, was in order. But the menu is very diverse and the breakfast sandwiches are customizable. There aren't many choices in downtown Oviedo, but this little café, run by a couple of fresh and friendly faces, is unique and worth a visit. Hopefully, I'll be going to Flakes & Fables once a week!

10/10 place. Atmosphere is cozy and cute. The food and drinks were very good. Workers are very sweet and service is quick. highly recommend for the oviedo area!

Probably the best breakfast spot in Oviedo. Sandwiches and baked goods are amazing! Service is always great!

A cozy bakery with delicious pastries and shelves of books the perfect spot to relax, read, and enjoy something sweet. The staff are warm and welcoming.

Almond pastry, Bavarian cream pastry (rectangular), fruit tart (small circle). All so delicious!

We started with three empanadas -- Classic Argentinian, Mediterranean Beef, and Corn -- with the option of fried or baked. We went with fried for both texture and flavor, and that proved to be the right call. Each empanada was thoughtfully labeled on the crust for easy identification, a small detail that was appreciated at the table. All were generously filled and well executed, but the corn empanada was the standout for me, offering a slightly sweet, comforting balance that kept me going back for another bite. The house chimichurri, packed with garlic and fresh herbs, was an excellent addition and elevated both the empanadas and later the steak with bright, punchy flavor. For the main course, I ordered the house steak with fries. The cut is an outside skirt steak, typically known for having more flavor than an inside skirt, and it arrived cooked to a perfect medium rare. The steak had a nice beefy flavor, though it leaned a bit tough in texture and, in my opinion, could benefit from an overnight marinade to help tenderize the meat further. The fries were fresh, crisp, and paired nicely with both the steak and chimichurri. Service was friendly and the overall experience felt relaxed and welcoming. A solid first visit with flavorful offerings and a few standout items -- I'd gladly return to explore more of the menu, especially the empanadas.

But they're not really like any empanada I've had before. Granted I feel like I've only ever really had Cuban empanadas, so that makes sense. And while I like the flaky breadiness of those, I really enjoyed these too! The outside gave more of a crispy cornbread vibe which was delicious. I thought I would like the beef empanada the most, but I ended up liking the Hawaiian one more. I love the sweetness of the pineapple, and it was just a lot moister than the other meats. But really, everything was so good. The pandebonos, buñuelo, tequeños - all delicious. But I do wish they were served a little hotter. They do stay warm behind the counter, but I think it would have been even better if they were heated up again before being served.
