Iced Latte & Strawberry Nutella Croissant

This cafe is so sweet! Both in terms of service and ambiance. The setting is very child friendly so if you are a parent with young kids looking to get out of the house or meet with friends, i highly recommend. They have a nice selection of toys, games, and children's books. On that note, they also had some adult novels and board games available. While I found the shop to be slightly off the beaten path of Oviedo, I'd go out of my way to come back due to the friendly staff, yummy baked goods made in house, and cute setting.

Had a fantastic time stopping at Flakes and Fables. The two workers were lovely and I loved how the inside looked. Another time, I would love to actually hang out inside. My friend and I were both fans of their coffee as well. My friend has a dairy allergy and it was very nice and hat they do not charge extra for their alternative milk options.

Whimsical, cozy and quaint, I'm in love with this independent coffee shop. It's a hole in a wall that a lot of people already know about because it was quite busy during our weekend morning visit. The decor is adorable with its bookish theme. There is a focal wall with book art and I couldn't stop exploring it. There is moving art on the wall thx to framed tvs and the counter has fun decorations that were super cute. The menu has plenty of coffee, tea and food options. The breakfast sandwiches are customizable and they offer focaccia as a bread option! Needless to say I loved everything about this shop. Excited to return. There is eclectic indoor seating for a variety of group numbers and the shop is located in a plaza with plenty to shared parking.

We stopped by Flakes & Fables before going thrifting and antiquing, and it was so convenient since it's just a few steps from The Coop. My husband picked up an iced matcha, and I ordered the mocha latte with oat milk. It was honestly the best mocha latte I've ever had--perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. Since we were visiting grandma from out of town finding this adorable coffee shop made our day even more special. We can't wait to come back and try their pastries!

Pros: Ambiance was very nice and eclectic. Electronic paintings on the wall, a book art wall, beautiful artwork in the bathroom. Loved the look of this place. The register person, who I assume is the owner, was insanely nice. He checked in on us just enough, and he got our feedback on the baked goods to give to the baker. Very cool. The food itself was high quality. You can always tell fresh baked stuff from warmed up pastries from bags. Good flavors, a good amount of sweetness, and we had a sandwich that was so lovely. Cons: No cons whatsoever. Tips: Make sure you show up ready to play. Have have free board games for you to grab and play. Love that.

The look of this little coffee shop is ADORABLE. I love the books that lined the walls. There are games and books to read. A coloring table is supposed to get added for kids. Books and coffee what could be better? I tried the lavender americano hot this time and it was tasty. A darker roast. They had a lot of treats to try and I will definitely do so next time. It was so cool to get to pick a few stickers that were coffee themed on the way out for free. Such a great theme for a little coffee shop! Free WiFi!

We want more weekend morning coffee shops to chill at, get some work done, play a board game, and eat and drink delicious coffee and pastries and such. Starbies has obviously passed out of the mainstream, so we wanted to check out some local spots. Flakes & Fables is one of those spots we checked out. Ambiance is clean, proud, and a little whimsical. Very interesting artwork adorns the wall, including some absolutely stunning book art that every child should look at and admire. And there's a couple of nice glass cabinets showing off the pastries that are fresh and ready for sale. Very nice look to the place. Service was insanely nice. We had a very nice little conversation with the guy at the counter, the food and drink gets delivered right to the table, and he even checked in on us once or twice to ask how our meal was, talking a little bit about different recipes that the baker is trying out. It was really nice service. As for the food and bev, all so solid. Drinks were good. Not too sweet, not too bitter. No concerns there. We had a little blueberry bundt thing with vanilla icing drizzled all over it. It was very soft and delicate. The blueberry aspect tasted nice and natural, not too sweet. Very good. We also had a nice chocolate/pistachio filled croissant with that same combination on top. This was a very delicate croissant. You can tell that it was baked in house; there were flakes everywhere, on the table, on my lap, it was done very well. With just the right amount of chocolate within, and some very nice chunks of pistachios on top for texture. Just lovely. The last thing I sampled, my main event, was a breakfast sandwich in a nice slice of focaccia. Wow, the height on this thing was impressive. But it was very squishable and edible, because that bread was so airy and buttery. A great combination of butter and salt was in the bread, and the ingredient amount of perfect, too. Loved those nice, strong slices of tomatoes. I could talk about the fun board games they have available to play, but I doubt anyone is even reading this anymore. I was very happy with my visit here. I review places and I don't think about price at all when I do, but if I could make one remark about this place, I don't think their prices were high enough. I think that for comparable food and drink and comparable places, this is the cheapest you'll find it. Which is good for us, but as a small business, you gotta survive. Once you get truly cemented into the community, raise those prices a bit. This is quality stuff.

Every visit to Flakes and Fables is a positive one. They have an assortment of beverages for coffee lovers, and those who might prefer a lemonade or non-coffee beverage. The staff is friendly and always asks about customizing the desired level of sweetness for our beverages, which I really appreciate. The pastries are delicious. We've also enjoyed their brownies and the chocolate pistachio croissant. I am personally hooked on the strawberry Nutella croissant with an iced hazelnut latte. The theme of the store is bookish and books by local authors are featured at the counter. It is an ideal place to meet up particularly children for a cozy treat and reading or game. Definitely a new favorite for us!

I stumbled by this place by accident, and it did not disappoint! The staff were very friendly and helpful with the menu. The food was very tasty and the drinks were good. I'd like my a little sweeter but I can definitely ask for that next time. The inside was so nice. A little messy from maybe a rush, but that's okay. I loved that they had games to play as a family as well as all the book decor. I will be going back again soon.

Clean, plenty of parking, good music. The coffee was good, especially if you're into custom syrups. I choice butterscotch with my iced latte. I also ordered the carrot cake muffin. It was delicious. Service was great. If they know it's your first time they'll take their time and explain everything. Will come back if I'm ever this way.

Best breakfast sandwich ever! I had a strawberry matcha and loved it as well! Customer service was great too:) awesome to find another local business to support! Also as a momma with a lil it was really nice to have a variety of activities to keep my toddler occupied while I ate with two hands- if ya know you know.

Small and quaint but DELICIOUS! We had a bacon, egg, cheese, tomato, and avocado spread on ciabatta and it did not disappoint. I love how they have board games and card games to keep you entertained while u wait or give u a reason to just hang out and order dessert. The pistachio chocolate croissant had my daughter asking for one togo.

What a hidden gem! Everything is freshly baked! My latte was delicious! I got the breakfast sandwich with bacon on focaccia and my husband got the breakfast sandwich on a croissant. It was clear that the breads were freshly baked. Highly recommend.

This leads to the back deli. It is cramped, but not terrible. A couple was in front of me. I could tell by the demeanor of the gentleman that they had been there a while already and the woman was asking multiple questions of the staff. No big deal. A little annoying, but some people are just talkative. This goes on, an estimate of say five minutes. Five minutes of a woman asking questions of the male staff member as the young woman staff member chimed in with information or an answer. At no point during this time did either of them acknowledge that someone was waiting or anything. No eye contact. Nothing. Finally the couple is done. The young woman behind the counter asks what I want. I order. In the middle of her slicing one of the deli meats, another customer comes up and asks for a pound of the meat she was currently slicing. Customer service will tell you to take care of customers in the order of arrival. Not according to this place. No, she decided to skip over me and service someone else. I understand that it was probably easier that way - given you might have to clean up between meats, or whatever else. And that's fine - IF YOU COMMUNICATE with the customer. The lady ordering the meat apologized. For reasons? It wasn't her fault. I appreciate it, but unnecessary. Finally after waiting for a longer time, the young woman behind the counter apologized for the delay. There never should have been a delay. Plus the sandwich was lackluster. I try to avoid big chains. I like small businesses. But when you treat people like this; why should I return?
