My husband and I LOVE a good coffee shop when we're traveling, I happened to find this one as we were also hunting for breakfast, and it seemed unique. And it was. The aesthetic is very modern and clean, they have plenty of tables. I was a little overwhelmed with the options but the servers were so nice and patient! The coffee was bomb. I got a white chocolate latte and it was super flavorful. My husband got the pink latte which is basically a french vanilla latte but it was super rich and very unique. He was glad he tried it, it was delicious. The pastry shelves were INSANE! My cousin was nervous everything would be sold out as we went late morning, but they had plenty of items left. Their croissants are perfect and flaky. THE FOOD. I got the eggs my way but the cheese arepa was the star of the show. It was so good. My husband got the Colombian tamale and it wasn't like anything he has ever had but it was really good. I loved the tiny arepas that came with it. Such a cool spot with fantastic food. We wanted a little something sweet to end our day so we got one of the pastries and several of the cookies to try. The pastry my husband got was delicious. It had cream cheese and guava in it. He said the dough was super light and flaky and he really enjoyed it. The cookies were OK. The oatmeal cookie definitely was not what we were expecting and we honestly ended up throwing most of it away just because the flavors didn't suit our palette. Since I go often to the UCF area and they are not too far at that point, it had been on my radar for some time. I finally made it and crossed it of my list! The restaurant is open and has both indoor and outdoor seating with street parking nearby. It is nicely decorated and makes it inviting as you see the pastries and goodies in the cases as you walk in. The staff is nice, friendly, attentive and happy to answer questions or make any suggestions. I dined in and had the pollo encebollado with rice, salad and french fries. The chicken was tasty and cooked to order, the rice needed more flavor as it was bland. The dressing on the salad was a nice vinaigrette. I ordered the almohabana to go, to have later with coffee. This is perhaps my first review here; however, I have been coming for a long time now with my entire family. This Bakery has the best food and first-rate customer service. They treat you like family and always very kind and professional. The deserts are just amazing, and hot food is as well amazing. The menu has grown since the first time I came. The location is just wonderful near downtown AVALON PARK and across a lake with fountain that gives you that nice neighborhood and tranquil environment. They have real food too!!! Ok, it's not just a bakery, but a majority of what they have IS your typical bakery fare. Things like cakes, croissants, and other sweet and savory treats fill most of the display cases. They also have empanadas, arepas, chicharron, and chorizo that are pretty much ready to eat, although they may heat them up more. The menu behind the counter also shows some breakfast/brunch dishes and various types of eggs and meats. Coffee is also on the menu as with any good bakery. It's further down in Avalon Park than most of the other stuff (where the Avalon Eatery and Pico de Gallo used to be located). It's good to see something occupy this space and the crowd on a weekend morning seemed to be good. I'd go again as it was good and it's local! read more

The staff was friendly but even though there were multiple people behind the counter it took a bit to get the orders in and food took a little longer than expected but overall a good experience and would return. Desperately Seeking Croissants! I knew what I was doing this morning when I went to bed last night. Visiting The Bakery Colombian Café for their delicious almond croissants. Early enough, where there were no crowds yet, I ordered my mocha latte with almond milk and 1 of the 3 remaining almond croissants. I was tempted to get all 3, but I thought of anyone else like me, who might have been desperately seeking one & I took them all. So I got one. I mention to the friendly person taking my order that I was sad that I couldn't make it this past week when they had the strawberry croissant & to my delight, I was told, "we have them & they are ready". Omg! 1, please. It's going to be a good day! I sat by the window to take in the view and enjoyed the yummiest croissant & a latte that was truly made with love (you can tell when it is) Of course, I could not visit this Colombian gem without buñuelos. They come mini, 3 for $2, the perfect snack for that afternoon coffee that future me will love! Would give it 5 stars but compared to other Colombian bakeries I've been too, their chicharron portions were not as big for the price. Also, they don't sell them separately and only come with mini arepas which I personally don't like. However, they did discount me a bit for getting the chicharrones just by themselves without the arepas I fell in love with their corn arepas and their pan de Bonos were delicious! This Colombian Bakery is filled with a variety of daily "in-house" fresh baked pastries AND a "top notch" coffee blend making my triple shot, dry cappuccino perfect. Did I mention, that they served it in a cup and saucer? Food comes on an "actual plate, not paper." This place will be on my favorites list for brunch and special deserts. I got a tiramisu to go. Went to their soft opening so their menu was limited at the moment, ordered a few of their items and have to say I really like them, I got two empanadas, one beef and one chicken, one buñuelo, a piece of colombian cheese, and for drink a Pony Malta, everything was yummy, taste just like in Colombia. my party ordered arepas with scrambled eggs, a cake slice and cafe con leche. Love the food, the taste and liked what they offer so far, it's a spacious place, comfortable and fits right in the community need in my opinion. This review is based on the soft opening in November. My wife and I went to the bakery for breakfast after dropping the kids off at school. The location was still in their soft opening phase, so no knocks on the service (which, there was no issue of) There was a lot of variety of food available. From sausages, to breakfast items, to cookies, and more. Of course, lots of bread options. I got a piece of chorizo, a pandebono, and another item that had egg in it (can't remember the name). What I got wasn't what I expected, and that's on me (I was hoping for a bread with nice, gooey cheese in the middle) Being unfamiliar with the offerings, my only suggestion would be maybe a description somewhere (perhaps their website or a few laminated descriptive menu's) of what each item is. I don't know a pandebono from a almojabana, and it might be helpful to have. I'll definitely go back here again in the morning to try more items. read more
