The service when I entered was great. I put in my order online within the hour of the store closing. The food was ready by the time I got there and there was only 1 person working but had the best vibes. There's street parking somewhat close by with a 5 minute walk. read more

I got the chicken katsu bowl, great price and great service! The guy working is so kind and the presentation of the dishes are quite nice. Ordering can be done at the tablet in the restaurant or on one of the delivery apps. It was very easy to order in person and you could clearly see what is in stock versus out of stock. Minor complaint that it gets busy during lunch so plan accordingly, about 30 minutes. There was also only one guy working at the time. I would still come again, to try other dishes, and this one, just not if I was in a rush. read more

Great little new place near Main Gate at U of A. The prices are good, friendly service, and yummy food. We stopped by before a show at Centennial Hall and shared an appetizer and a couple of the sushi rolls. And, omg, the dessert -- so delicious! The food and service were amazing. It's only the owners who are working so service is a bit slow but they are so kind and sweet. They apologized for not speaking English well but even with their broken English, they are patient and communicate well!! I'm a salmon lover and their sushi is so fresh and delicious - no fishy smell/taste at all! Huge portions and they do not skimp on the fish. The menu and ordering tablet needs descriptions for each menu item. The place is new so the interior doesn't have much decoration and is a bit echoey but I imagine it'll improve as they gain popularity. The location is very nice! It's right on campus off of speedway and park - right below the apartments on park. They also offer Bingsu which I have to go back and try. Please give them a try and review them, I don't want such a good authentic place to go out of business :) read more

A casual, inconspicuous sushi spot serving up better rolls than much more popular restaurants. I read about Flakes in a local paper. The story is--a man who worked at a ton of high profile Japanese restaurants decided to go into business for himself. I think it was a great choice! The menu is pretty simple, but everything is fresh, with generous portions. And I think they have the best crab rangoons in town! This is an excellent lunch spot if you're downtown! read more

This spot was really as great as can be! The man at the counter, I believe the owner, was super kind and eager to make it a great experience. He told me he intentionally has vegetarian and vegan options available. The tempura is egg free and the eel sauce is fish free. I had a sweet potato tempura roll with eel sauce and the tempura was fresh and crispy and stayed crispy in the roll. It was clear the sweet potato tempura was made fresh to order. I also had the fried tofu roll with eel sauce (no yummy sauce because it contains egg mayo). The tofu roll had avocado, cucumber, lettuce and pickled red ginger. The vegetables were fresh and he included an extra fried tofu piece that he didn't fit in the roll on the outside which I enjoyed having and appreciated. I would probably get the fried tofu roll without the pickled red ginger in. I didn't notice this roll had eel sauce inside and thought it would be on top and when I asked him about it and he happily jumped to offer more sauce if needed. He generally was very pleasant and kind. They seem to also have a nice outdoor seating area with cover. Inside is simple and clean. Order and pay is through a computer screen or via phone. I will absolutely come back here as it was probably the best egg free sweet potato tempura roll I had in Tucson and the prices are awesome at $6.79 for each of the rolls I got. read more

This place is 10/10 amazing!! The veggie rolls were the freshest and most flavorful I think I've ever eaten. The gentleman making the rolls was super sweet and definitely takes pride in (and is fantastic at) his craft. We are absolutely going to make this our go to Sushi place in Tucson. read more

The owner was very nice and service was good! We ordered a few different sushi rolls and they were all great.

The fish was really fresh and so far the best I've had in Tucson. Most places in AZ and Tucson struggle to incorporate topping like green onions, yuzu, bonito flakes, and sauces. Flakes knows how to do this well and made the nigiri very tasty. The Hamachi Aburi was insanely good as well as the Hamachi Yuzu Zukuri. Highly recommend trying either! Service was incredible as well, only one staff member working so it was a little slow but they offered a free drink and edamame with the meal. Service like that is a rarity here and was greatly appreciated. I also ordered take out and every single item was labeled very well and there were even disposable soy sauce dishes which was super nice. Prices are also great, it's consistent with competitors but since the fish is so much better I think you get more than what you pay for. Ambiance was so-so it is a new place so it's clearly not fully set up yet but the vision is there and it's VERY clean which I appreciate being in a college town. This was also obvious with the fish being very clean tasty and no fishy taste. I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for some decent quality and fresh sushi here in Tucson. It's still got that college-esque menu but doesn't sacrifice quality for it. Great place, I'd love to see it grow more and gain more business since I'll be coming back for that hamachi a lot! read more

Low key vibes with really good sushi. It's clear the owners focus is on quality food and not the unnecessary frills of some sit down sushi restaurants. Service was good with the food being made fresh as we ordered. For that reason be prepared that it will take a little longer, but is totally worth the few extra minutes.
