The wontons were DELICIOUS and served in a nice portion size.
    Kwame S.

Overall, just ok foodwise. A small group of us stopped by Flambo for some Caribbean bites. In general, I think that we were expecting something a bit different. This place seems more of a Indian-inspired Trini spot...or maybe more of a Trini-inspired Indian spot. Overall, I think the main issue that I had with the food was the base for the sauce used in a few of their dishes was really sweet compared to what I have experienced in NYC Trini restaurants, particularly for the stewed chicken and oxtail. The Trini food that I've had in the past had more of a spicy kick compared to what I had during our visit. While the stewed chicken was not a home run for me, I really enjoyed the wontons appetizer. Another person in our group commented that the seafood paella was a bit dry for them. For the prices, I thought the portion sizes were decent. Most plates are in the 20 dollar range although the oxtails are in the 30 dollar range. The staff was really nice and approachable, but the service could have been better. It seemed as if there was a lot of confusion, which was puzzling bc we were the only folks eating in the restaurant for the duration of our meal. I'm not sure why, but it seemed to be a bit of a problem evenly splitting our check four ways. For some reason, they split the check in a manner in which two from our group were charged $15-20 more than the other two. To end on a positive note, I thought in general the restaurant was beautiful with a nice layout. The restaurant looks like it's very accommodating for groups of all sizes. Since we were dining on a Saturday night in a popular part of town, I kind of surprised that we did not need a reservation, but maybe the restaurant is new and not on a lot of folks' radars.

We went on Valentine's Day and they just offered a special Valentine's Day prefixed menu, which we didn't realize until we sat down. There were 4 choices for apps, 6 main course options and 3 different desserts, plus complimentary glass of champagne. I chose the curried mussels, ox tail and ghulab Jamon. The mussels were my favorite. They were very flavorful. The oxtail was too saucy and not as big as I expected. The ghulab jamon was too soggy and sweet and I really didn't like it. Instead of champagne, I had passionfruit juice which was really good.

Truly inspirational story of the father-son duo who own this restaurant. Both owners are super friendly and humble. The Rum Punch was strong and yummy! My first time trying an Oxtail curry and wasn't expecting it to be on the sweeter side but I confirmed with one of my Trinidadian friends and he said there is indeed brown sugar so it is supposed to be slightly sweet and not too spicy which was exactly how the curry tasted. The Chicken curry was my favorite of the two - so flavorful! I love that they served a side of Chickpeas with the chicken curry and Kidney beans with the oxtail curry. Prices are on par with other restaurants in the city. Bathroom was spacious, clean and well equipped! They have a really cool upstairs lounge area with a dance floor where they had a DJ playing some fine tunes. Will definitely be back to try the other menu i especially the Goat curry!

Such a great spot to stop by before a show on Broad! I don't have this type of food often so I cannot compare but all the flavors were on point. It's very cozy with a bar up front and large spacious seating area in the back. HIGHLY recommend the small dough ball appetizer (I forgot the name), so good. And as always, wash it down with a mango lassi!

I patronized the original location on broad street many years ago and had the opportunity to patron this center city location for restaurant week. The decor was very vibrant and they had a decent set of Caribbean food options that I'm very familiar with and have many variations of each Caribbean flavors of their dishes. We went on a slow day but there was a bit of a wait to get our meals which was good, no complaints.

This was a fun outing w/friends in Center City after work and it happened to be restaurant week as well! The space is small, but has a warm feel! There was an issue with the bathroom (horrible odor-we reported it sand was told that it is an ongoing issue that may be resolved by the next visit to the establishment). Our server was friendly and attentive. The restaurant week menu had many choices for the appetizer; starter; main course and dessert! We choose spring rolls; jerk wings; coconut shrimp; curry chicken; curry shrimp and carrot cake! The food came out quickly and I wish more time was spent heading the rice (my only complaint)--otherwise the curry shrimp and chicken; the jerk wings were seasoned very well and our meals were flavorful! I would return for Happy Hour to sample other dishes!

The customer service was amazing! The curry mussels were seasoned to perfection. I had curry chicken but was so full from the appetizers I ended up taking the curry chicken entree to go. Overall I would go back. We came from NJ and Delaware.

The vibes are EVERYTHING!!!!! I went here with friends for Sips and the music was bumping. The DJ played all the good Afro beats and hiphop/r&b throwbacks. The food was really good! The drinks were also good, but on the stronger side. And our server was so helpful with recommendations and making sure my friend with a peanut butter allergy ordered options that were safe !

The food was yummy, but the portions were very small. The people who work there are awesome. This is Trinidadian food and I've searched all over Philly for some roti, I was happy to find it here. It's relaxing and oh, I had curry goat with rice and a side of pumpkin, it was yummy!

My hubby heard about this place from his coworkers and then we saw a feature on FYI Philly so we decided to give this place a try... Reservations were made for an early Saturday evening. When we arrived, there was only 1 other patron in the restaurant. The atmosphere of the restaurant was lounge-like - the lighting was dim and the music was lively Afrobeats and Reggae rhythms. The staff that we interacted with were pleasant and attentive. We ordered Fried Dumplings with Shrimp and Buss Up Shot to share, I ordered the Butter Chicken and Hubby ordered the Stew Chicken. The food came out fairly quickly. The dumplings were good and not like anything I've tasted before - the flavor was on point and the temperature was perfect, presentation was OK. I've never had Roti (and I think that's what "Buss Up Shot" was), I waited until my Butter Chicken came out before I dug in to the Buss Up Shot - the Butter Chicken was OK, I wanted more authentic flavor but this dish was a tad underwhelming for me, nevertheless, I ate it because I was hungry; the Buss Up shot tasted like it could've been a little undercooked (again, this was my first time ever having it so I wasn't sure what to expect) - it was flaky, doughy and buttery; Hubby took one bite and said "that's all you". He also felt that his Stew Chicken was not appetizing. Overall, my experience was just OK - the best part was the music for me... I wish the food had the same pizazz that the restaurant's name does :-/

The food was really good! We went on Valentine's Day so it was a fixed menu. Everything we tried was amazing! Service was decent as well! And they had rose petals around the tables which was a nice touch!

If you like Carribean - Indian food, this is definitely the spot to go to. Not only is the food good but the owners/employees are so nice! We sat at the bar and were served by Amir who was absolutely amazing. He gave great recommendations and made the best run punch I've ever had. If you go, you absolutely need to try the Pholourie. Theyvare so good I'm still craving them to this day. The curry goat is another crowd pleaser that you should try. Definitely recommend!

The staff were friendly and attentive. The food was enjoyable with good portion sizes. The only downside I had was my coconut shrimp was not cooked which made me question how the food is prepared given the outside was battered but the shrimp was grey and not pink. :-o I informed our server who apologized and brought me a new plate of coconut shrimp with a few extra shrimp so I appreciated the correction. I ordered the rum punch which didn't taste like I expected it to so I can't say for sure if something was wrong there but I finished my drink. The salad was delicious. The oxtails and rice were delicious and the carrot cake for dessert was yummy. So overall I enjoyed my meal and the service.

I poured pepper in my soup and it was real nice. I should have gotten two soups. I got an aloo pie with channa, pepper, tamarind, mango, cucumber, and chadon beni.
