So chefs alone I give the place 5 stars, we came here with 2 infants and the chef at our table and the table next to us were extremely considerate of them and reaction to the fire. Each table show was different and created a great atmosphere. Waitress on the other hand needs to learn a few things from the other staff, at points and time no place to be found, first round of drinks she never even took my drink order. Food was good, flavors were lacking but give them credit they are cooking and putting on a show. Overall I would recommend the place for the show, dont expect a 5 course meal with steak from the finest steak house but enough food to fill you up. Enjoy the show!!!! read more

If they had more than 5 stars I'd rate this place higher. My husband and I frequent this restaurant a lot because it's really close to where we live and getting hibachi so close to home is really nice on day we feel like eating out. The staff will know you by name and face if you come here a lot and they treat you like family and as a honor guest every time. The atmosphere is upbeat, but nothing too fancy with many open shared long square tables that have the hibachi grill and chef in the middle so you can see everything cooked right in front of you which adds to the whole experience of the place, because if you've ever been to a hibachi restaurant you know the chef give you a dinner and a show with the way they artful, professional, and sometime comedically prepare and serve your food. I will add that I think they do have private rooms for larger parties too, and I think you just call for reservations in advice and let them know you'd like a private room and they should be able to accommodate you. The food here is exceptional. For starters you get a clear soup/or miso soup and salad. The chef also makes fried rice accompanied with fried noodles and vegetables. For the main I always recommend either a shrimp and steak combo, or the chicken and steak combo. The best thing about the steak combo is that the chef asks you how you want your meat prepared. I always recommend medium-rare, but the chef executes all preparations and cooks on steaks perfectly. They also have a separate sushi menu, kitchen, and dining area if you have a big appetite or just want to do sushi, they also have really good appetizers and the pork duck buns are to die for here. The drink menu is pretty good too. I always order the Bronx tea which is pretty much a Long Island ice tea with a very heavy pour. I also recommend the papi chulo or the blueberry lemon drop I think it's called. They're all the perfect drink to get the party started to get you excited for the show and dinner. Overall I have fallen in love with this restaurant and the staff. They are amazingly friendly and welcoming and their food matches their personality. Exceptionally and amazing!!! read more

I'm glad Flame opened up in the neighborhood after much anticipation and taunting riding by on the 1 train everyday. Prices and food were par for the course for hibachi. Nothing super innovative here, which is perfectly fine - because they nailed it. The drinks were average priced and sufficiently strong too. The chef was hilarious. Stopped in for brunch on a weekend and was happy to discover that they have a dim sum menu! We really enjoyed the siu mai, beef dumplings and crispy calamari. The duck buns were ok, not as crispy as I would have liked. The edamame was slightly undercooked, but otherwise seasoned well. Our least favorite was the har kow (shrimp dumpling) which tasted off, like old leftovers that had been improperly stored and then reheated. Husband also got the shrimp hibachi which was a HUGE portion. The shrimp were large and perfectly cooked and came with yummy veggies (zucchini, broccoli and mushrooms). Overall, a great value due to the food quality (excluding the har kow) and portions and it's probably the best spot for Asian food in the immediate area. The bar tender said to ask the manager and the manager said no drinks you have to be at a table because of COVID like what we are waiting on our table. Anyway we waited 8:45 came and went. But 9:05 we got to our table and the chef was great and the food was great but the customer service meh. I didn't even get to order a drink so I just stuck with the water. Very disappointed, you're better off watching them make it, as the food taste so much better in flavor and it's made sure it's well cooked. One more thing It also lacked flavor it tasted so blah! Seriously not worth the take out, I don't think it had anything to do with how fast or slow the delivery took place, since we ordered for take out and my bf went right at the 15-20 minute mark they said it would take to cook it. Everything came nicely packaged and was still hot when it got to us! I love that part especially. The pic doesn't do it justice i promise. It's a lot more than it appears. I ordered the sirloin and it came with a choice of soup (i chose onion), noodles, rice, & salad. It was all delicious. That onion soup was great. I received really bad service on sept 28th, at the Bronx location. firstly the host in the front are terrible I came in with my family and did not know you guys close so early on a Saturday at 9:30 I made it there at 9:35 and because I was 5 mins after the host gave me an attitude and stated we can't seat you we only have take out. I asked to speak to a manager and another girl was standing in the front claiming she was the manager in which she was rude as well. I traveled and paid a cab just to support your restaurant for my moms birthday with my mom and daughter only to be told I can't sit you down and there's nothing I can do about it. I will never come back here again after this terrible experience. We went else where and had a great time with great service at another restaurant. Honestly your front staffing is extremely rude and has poor customer service skills.... If you want people to come to your restaurant you need people who actually want to work and provide great customer service to customers. This restaurant is quickly becoming our go-to and I'm so happy we have a good hibachi spot in Riverdale! The food is delicious and plentiful, the staff could not be more attentive, and the restaurant itself is very nice. I think the whole hibachi show is about an hour but you have an hour and a half in total to enjoy/finish your meal. How fun the show is depends on the chef; having been twice already I feel that some are some are more funny and interactive than others. Nonetheless they all still try to make it a good time. In terms of food, I've tried the New York Strip + Scallops combination and the New York Strip + Shrimp combination and both were delicious! It can be a lot because all meals are accompanied by your choice of soup, salad, 2 dumplings or 2 pieces of shrimp, sauteed veggies, fried rice, and noodles - talk about leaving stuffed. However, whatever you do, don't leave without trying the popcorn shrimp appetizer which is amazing as well. As for drinks, I recommend trying the Lingerie cocktail, the Bronx Mojito, and the Rum Bowl which is enough for 2 and will definitely have you feeling boozy. Prices are fair for the quality of the food and the service - if you're curious everything is advertised on their website. One thing to keep in mind is that you have a 10min. grace period before you lose your reservation; they stress this a lot given that the tables are communal. Note they also have free parking. My family & I tend to visit about 3 or 4 times a year to celebrate our birthdays. We usually really like this place because it can accommodate a large party plus it's nearby for all of us.... However, this past Friday 4/1 will probably be the LAST time we visit this place for many reasons.... When I mean everything was OFF during dinner it was to the point that even our teenage children noticed & all made comments about it. To start both of our Chefs seemed like they were rushing; the food felt like it was not cooked properly plus while they were serving the food on our plates it felt like that were kinda throwing it ( our plates looked like it was being served for a dog all on top of each it was just messy & unpleasant). Also they forgot to bring out our salads & sauces we asked about 3 plus times until our waiter finally brought them out ( she kept saying sorry I am not in charge of bringing out the salads / sauces). Our waitress seemed Flustered the entire time; I get it your busy/ tired and etc but, it was unpleasant at times. Also they seemed to be out of most cocktails we ordered plus the first round of drinks were ALL unpleasant we decided to just order wine to ensure it was drinkable. In general, we used to really enjoy visiting this place but, we won't be visiting again bc it was just overall an unpleasant experience for all 13 of us :/ almost forgot to mention the place was kinda empty compared to all the other times we visit & I guess everyone else noticed the established lost its touch ( by 10pm when we were leaving they were closing). read more

I'm giving this restaurant three stars because the food was good but there are other things that were unsatisfactory. Let start with the food ordered sushi and i was not given chopsticks i had to get up and walk to the front to get them myself. Secondly they don't have apple juice for children all they have is orange and cranberry and we know most kids drink apple. Lastly i asked for a separate check from a party i was with and i was told no because its to much work and i asked as the waiter was taking my order. Most restaurants i go to do allow a separate check however it's limited to about 3-4 check. While the food was decent i don't see myself going back I'd rather go to edos. read more

Like so many others, we were so excited to see a new restaurant in the neighborhood and even more excited about it being a hibachi experience. That being said, there have been a couple of new businesses in the area that have left something to be desired so we were a little cynical, yet hopeful just the same. My fourteen year old daughter decided we should try it out for her birthday. Our family was a group of 15 and we were given a private room with two chefs for no additional cost. We were quite a loud group (I mean... we are Puerto Rican after all) so thank goodness we were tucked away. From the moment our party began strolling in (a few groups at a time) to the moment we strolled out, we had the most wonderful experience. They were patient and accommodating when we asked for 480,204 high chairs (ok so maybe just three but you know.. it was a lot), they did not rush us as we were figuring out who sat where (obviously everyone wanted to sit next to me but...) and the person responsible for our group was an absolute joy. The chefs were hilarious and I haven't seen my daughter smile and laugh the way she did in forever. She is a new teenager.. need I say more? We laughed, sang, kind of even danced. It was the best family night out that we've had in so very long. Aaaaaaaand.... guess what? The freaking food was amazing. I mean yea.. it's hibachi. We thought it would be fine. Yet, it was so so so good. Everything was so so so so so good. You guys, stop by Flame and welcome them to the neighborhood. I'm so happy they've decided to move in. This was my first time visiting a hibachi restaurant and I had very high expectations to visit this particular one. I will start by saying that the place is beautifully decorated and the ambiance is very inviting as soon as you walk in. They have a very strict reservation only and on time policy which added a layer of anxiety before my visit after receiving a reminder text. We arrived early and were greeted at the door by a very friendly host only to be interrupted by who I believe was a manager or owner who was the complete opposite! Rude, unfriendly and short! His vibe was negative and offputting from the start. He greeted us by sternly warning us that if my party was not complete we would not be seated. I proceeded to assure him we were all present and he followed it up by telling me he didn't know so was obligated to inform me. He immediately turned on his heels and walked us to our seats, pointed to the chairs that belonged to us and walked away before my sister could ask for the restroom! She must have said excuse me three times before he turned around and pointed down the hall! He honestly ruined half the evening already! Poor customer service for any establishment let alone a new one is completely unacceptable in my book. Thankfully Luis our server and our cook saved the night! They were both very personable, friendly and attentive. The drinks were great and the food preparation was so entertaining! Our cook was engaging, jovial and very pleasant! The portions were big enough to take home and everything was rich in flavors! Unfortunately for me the human exchange is half the experience. I like to feel welcomed and that my hard earned money is appreciated. After paying the bill and leaving the table not one persom thanked us or wished us a good night!
