I highly recommend this place if you want to try some authentic Japanese street food. The owner of this place is a man named Shin Takagi who went around Japan to perfect his recipes, and as a result, you'll find dishes from all over the country. Most places will offer the standard okonomiyaki and yakisoba. This place offers unique items such as hiroshima-yaki (an okonomiyaki variation that features thinner batter and fried noodles inside it), ramen rice (a soy sauce based mix of stir-fried noodles & rice), and hakata yaki udon (tonkatsu sauce mixed with fried udon). The portions sizes here were big, and the food was rich in flavor. This is a humble place and you actually order at the counter (they'll bring the food to your table). There is also an ample amount of both indoor and outdoor seating, so a group can easily fit here. For a place like New York City, that's saturated with Japanese restaurants, this place manages to stand out.

I really enjoyed stopping by here, both my friend and I have had this saved for a while. A smaller shop, but very lively, gave a classic warm izakaya vibe. The food was incredibly delicious, I really like the Hiroshima-yaki and the ramen rice. The fried chicken was also excellent - we even got a second order to nibble on with our sake. The staff was very friendly and helpful with sake recommendations, highly highly recommend!

Definitely the best okonomiyaki i've had in the city! It was heartening without being heavy and very umami. I enjoyed the ambience and make, it felt like a cozy japanese diner. They don't take reservations, though it was easy to walk in as just two people (there was a lot of take out activity but not that much dining). the food came quickly and service was friendly, The potstickers were also very yummy and perfectly seasoned and cooked. It's serve yourself -- though, the water cups are kinda small and you have to go up to the staff each time to get water. Would be nice if they had just a self-serve water station.

Okonomiyaki with veggies was great! Tons of flavor from the sauce, and the veggies add a nice texture to the meal. It's pretty sizeable for lunch.

The service was super nice! I think the brown sauce was incredibly overpowering and salty on everything we got, so I wasn't the biggest fan. I liked the ramen though as well as some stir fried udon dish I tried though.

The restaurant is small and cozy, and they have a sheltered outdoor seating area if it gets too full. The food took a little longer to come out than we had expect for fast food, but I guess it means everything is made to order! And everything we got was delicious! I had never had okonomiyaki like that, and it was so light and crispy. The pork yakisoba was very flavorful without being too greasy. The fried chicken was also very crispy but still juicy. Overall, the portion sizes were perfect, and we left very satisfied!!

First heard of this spot on IG @MuberEats' "Homesick and Hungry" series -- and I have to say it hit the spot for us! We came around 6pm on a Friday, and it was quite empty when we first sat down but definitely filled up as the night went on. Service is not particularly quick, but our food was done very well. 5/5 Okonomiyaki - seasoned batter that is fried super crisp, with a generous amount of meat and veggie filling. Highly recommend! 5/5 Dokodemo Ramen - loved the springy noodles and the perfectly balanced rich broth to complement. 4/5 Ramen Rice -- fried rice with some ramen noodle bits sprinkled throughout, "wokhei" is very notable and impressive on this dish. Loved the spicy powder on top!

I came here for dinner to try their okonomiyaki and was a bit disappointed Pros: - Really liked the ambiance--it was cozy and chill Cons: - They definitely need more staff in the kitchen, but the guy juggling both the front and the back was really nice and as attentive as he could be. - Tried both the Okonomi-Yaki with Beef and the Hiroshima-Yaki with Pork, and the meat selection was a bit off. Usually, thinly sliced meat is used for okonomiyaki, but chunks of beef and pork were used instead so the texture was off - The fried chicken wasn't very flavorful and was a bit greasy. Had better karaage

A fast casual spot with outdoor and indoor seating. You order at the front then they bring you your food at the table. The flavors were good. The yaki was good with the pork and the noodles too. Nothing like incredible but a good solid spot. The textures were fun.

The food is very good and a reminder of what you can get at Dotonburi Osaka if been there before. Service isn't very fast but worth the wait. The place is small so it really does give the feel of a small restaurant.

If you want Ramen and enjoy authentic food - DokoDemo is your spot. Stumbled upon this while visiting The Public Theater. It was a little cool out so was in the mood for some Ramen. This shop will be very easy to miss if walking down a somewhat active block. When you walk in, it's not the largest or most glamorous location but the ramen is A1. They charge for every addition, which stinks but let's you somewhat customize your dish. One of the things that made this spot special was everything appeared to be cooked right there so it took a few mins from placing an order to devouring it. I could hear the pork sizzling on the grill which made me feel good. Service was quick and the guy at the counter was kind. Was quiet when we arrived but I could tell this place is popular in the neighborhood. Will most def be returning when in the area.

A must-visit if you're seeking authentic and yet fresh okonomiyaki and yakisoba. They have indoor and outdoor seating, and the vibe feels comfortable. Upon entering, head toward the cashier to place your order. Once ordered, the cashier will hand you a number, and then you choose a seat. Once the food is done, the cashier will bring them to your table. Note they no longer serve takoyaki or have octopus as one of their protein choices. Their menu is limited, so ask for their off-the-menu items. They also have bottled sake as one of their drink choices. I have to take away a star because although the flavor of okonomiyaki is authentic, however the presentation isn't.

I have a shrimp allergy and politely asked if the shrimp tempura could be substituted. The server immediately said no, without offering any alternative or showing much concern. For a restaurant, especially one serving customizable ramen dishes, with a allergy list post on the wall by the counter where I sat at B1, a little flexibility or empathy toward food allergies would go a long way. The interaction felt dismissive and unwelcoming, which made the overall dining experience uncomfortable. Customer service matters just as much as the food, and sadly this visit fell short. The smashed cucumber was good. Spicy dumpling was good. Ramen broth was light, not as rich or flavorful as others. There are so many good ramen places in NYC, this Chinese Ramen place has lot of room to improve.

First of all, I LOVE the ambience and the paper lantern decor here. Took me right back to those neon streets. The staff are polite and patient; one of them even picked up my phone for me after I dropped it mid-meal. During my trip, I was converted to a soba-lover, and while I don't think this is true soba here, they have "abura soba", what they describe as a "soupless ramen" (with a thicker noodle) which I was drawn to. I got the basic one with chashu, and my, it was DELICIOUS! I was so entranced I caught myself wanting to slightly bow with an "Arigatougozaimasu" and a "Gochisousama desu" on the way out! The noodles and the saucy base were DELICIOUS. My friend found it a bit oily, but I love thicker, richer ramen bases so I savored it. We lingered and loafed during our meal and the staff did not rush us once. :) Will definitely be returning!

The noodles were just okay, don't think they held up the flavor of the ramen well. I wish they had an option for real chili rather than just the oil.
