Gayle and I had dinner here recently with her Mom. The physical space of the restaurant was huge, and with just a few tables busy when we were here. That's surprising considering the really tasty selections and in generous portions. We all love Indian food and was Chicken Tikka Masala or Goat Vindaloo, everything was delicious. IN hindsight, we would have skipped the appetizer as there turned out to be more than enough food for our mains. And when Gayle and I come back, we may seriously consider splitting a main (plus Naan). Gayle and I figured that with all the food that we gave to her mother to take home, she was good for a couple days worth of meals. Odd that they don't carry Indian beer, although they offer other selections. I also enjoyed a Mango Lassi as my pre-dinner drink. It's challenging to find any Indian Food in Carson City or environs, so I was glad to discover this restaurant in Minden/ Gardnerville. Nice, airy dining area (but no beer on tap despite the taps at the bar) and good food. This place is delicious! Went in on a random Thursday to try it out with a few girl friends. The food reminded me of home cooked meals at Indian friend's houses. Portion sizes are great, and flavors very layered. The flavors are very clean. Some of the best Indian food I have had, and surprised to have it in G'ville. I enjoyed it so much I ordered food to go. Wait, no, they don't serve hamburgers. No they don't serve pizza. No they don't serve Mexican food. This is a whole new cuisine and based on population, is among the most popular cuisines in the world. Our first visit proved to be a success. We learned about the cuisine and we enjoyed the food. Heck, we even came home and watched some YouTube videos so that we can be better prepared next time we go. We chose two appetizers and two entrées and we were very happy with everything that we ate. The unique spices that we ate were different and creamy rich and tasty. We ordered the mild level of heat and so we can't comment on the spicy components very well. My family and I recently discovered Indian food while on vacation so coming back home we were excited to try this place. Upon entering we noticed that it didn't look much different than the place that closed before then. We thought this place was much more reasonably priced but found out not really since the Naan bread is not included but an extra charge so about equal to what we paid at the other place. Our server was nice. We ordered 2 chicken bowls. They were both very good and with the nanny bread enough to feed 4 people (if you don't want to overeat). The service needed to be a bit better. After being served we didn't see our server. He was standing with the owner just observing. Our water needed refilling. He showed up at the end when we needed a to go box. Flame of India was incredible from start to finish. Every dish came out piping hot and bursting with flavor--rich, bold, and perfectly spiced. Nothing tasted watered down at all, and you can tell real care goes into each dish. The balance of spices was spot-on: flavorful without being overwhelming, and absolutely satisfying. Everything tasted fresh, vibrant, and exactly how Indian food should taste. Hands down one of the best Indian meals I've had--can't wait to come back and order even more! The service was great! We ordered malai kofta, yellow dal, and garlic naan to go this evening. They said it would be about 30 minutes. It ended up being about 20 minutes and they called to let us know it was ready. The food is fantastic here. They have the best yellow dal I've ever had from a restaurant. Their malai kofta wasn't too dry or too moist it had the best texture. The naan was cooked to perfection. We tried flame of India for the first time. Give the staff some patience, they aren't servers by nature. But let me tell you, the flavors are wonderful. This is authentic Indian food. We had the butter chicken and the goat curry. I could have went up in spice level on both, medium has a good kick but not spicy. The naan was freshly prepared. 2 entrees was enough for all of us (2 adults, 2 kids) with enough for leftovers. The goat curry I will definitely come back for. Please give this place a try, and be patient with the service, I'm sure as they learn it will get better. Everyone was super friendly and kind. The buffet also looked good! July 16, 2025. Absolutely amazing food. Incredible service. We walked in as a family of 6. We were seated immediately. Ordered fairly quickly within minutes after getting our 6 waters. Food was hot, delicious, yummy, filling and absolutely amazing! And all served within approximately 10-15 minutes of us placing the order. They even refilled our water promptly once our pitcher ran dry. Definitely will be back. Give them a try or 2 as I could see them still adjusting and working themselves out as a new restaurant. Enjoyed our meal, the food is tasty and the service was good. I had the chicken korma, and it was delicious

I've now been here twice and am very happy to have delicious Indian food here! The first time, was opening weekend and the restaurant was not quite prepared for the enthusiasm from the local population and seemed a bit unprepared to deal with the number of orders, so it took a while for them to have my order ready. I went last weekend and my carry out order was ready within a very reasonable time, so it seems they have worked out their staffing to accommodate the normal traffic. I have now tried the butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, veg biryani, chicken Saag and lamb rogan josh along with their garlic naan. All have been incredibly delicious! The second time I requested spice levels as mild, and they definitely complied with a mild, but flavorful food. I like some heat, so I will definitely need to request it next time, but I have learned caution over the years. We've gotten the food take out both times and orders have been well packaged and accurate. I plan to make this a fairly regular rotation for our local take out options. read more

My family took me out to Flame of India for my birthday as I'm a big fan of Indian food. We had a magnificent dinner for 5 where we had chicken, goat and lamb dishes, plus four or five vegetable dishes and one of each of the desserts available. Everything was delicious. Even my notoriously gastrononomically un-curious wife delighted in the butter chicken, the aloo ghobi and the vegetable curry. The rest of us feasted on exciting interpretations of classic food. We were there on a Tuesday and the place was not at all busy. The staff were lovely soft-spoken people who went out of their way to ensure we had a good time. Our group of four tried this new restaurant because we have been waiting for an Indian restaurant in Minden forever. It is wonderful to have such authentic food. The service was good, too. I was apprehensive because some of the early reviews were critical of the service. Based on our experience I attribute the initial bad service reviews to opening pains. Or service staff were polite, responsive fully attentive. Flame is in process for alcohol service. I think this will happen. Highly recommended! read more

We went to try the lunch buffet, it was the worst Indian food we have ever had. The chicken tasted like it was old and spoiled with no flavor. The place was completely empty, now I know why. The men's bathroom had urine and feces on the floor, along with dirty hand towels. We will never go back again. read more

I ordered 5 different plates and some naan (Lamb, Goat, Chicken can't remember all the names but they were all good). Me and my kiddos ordered it to go and after about 20-30 minutes they brought it out piping hot... We're talkin fires of Mordor hot! Opened it up when we got home and got straight to dippin that Naan! Kids loved it, I loved it, wife is gonna love it when she gets home cause Oh boy there was too much for us to eat. The portions were good, these days that matters a lot if you have kids. What else can I say? it was really good and the portions were generous! Theres a lot of really awful food for crazy prices around here so I really appreciate when I'm not getting ripped off. Some of the other reviews seem a bit snobby, give them a chance! be careful if you order the goat or lamb, it has small bones in it so I would advise you to not give it to small children and chew carefully. 12:40pm visit opted for the buffet. Garlic Naan was good and the only thing I could recommend. Chicken curry - flavorless not sure if curry was even present. It was orange, but didn't taste like any curry I've had before. Chicken tika masala - bland and a poor representation of a famous dish. It was pink - not sure how they achieved that color because I can tell you (based on mouth feel) they didn't use heavy cream in The sauce. Egg curry (dry) and generic same taste as the Cauliflower Pakora. Dal makhni - watery with undercooked kidney beans. Chana masala - undercooked chickpeas (literally hard) like bounce a fork off of it hard. Cauliflower pakora old and flavorless. Tandoori chicken - old reheated in a weird sauce (almost tasted like bbq chicken smothered in Indian spices) The question is does this restaurant even care? I sincerely hope they are not proud of their food quality. I would recommend going anywhere else. The Thai food down the street was better the last time I stopped in. read more

It is awesome that the area has a new restaurant that is not fast food or Mexican, however, I still like both Mexican food and fast food too. I made a reservation on a Friday, I was hoping it would be busy unfortunately it was not. They definitely need more patrons. All the staff was very friendly. The food ordered was garlic naan, curry vegetables, tandoori chicken, and lamb saag. All of the food was fresh tasting. The bread was fabulous. The curry vegetables ordered spicy was not spicy enough now that we know that, definitely will order to be extra spicy. Mild on the other items were most definitely mild. If you are hesitant and worry that it would be too spicy for you, they're mild is very easy on someone who does not handle heat. This is a great find and new restaurant in the area. There was also a bar that look well stocked. Great place if you're in the mood for something other than fast food and Mexican. Highly recommend this place. read more

Our party was a group of six and we got there rather late on Friday evening. Much to all of our surprise, the food was fantastic! The ambience was very mellow and relaxing. The service was excellent and they were very attentive. We ordered a lot of different food and two different types of nann-bread and everything was so flavorful. We closed the place down and the people that worked there along with the owner or very nice and accommodating. We all decided we're definitely going to keep this high on our list for going out to eat and I hope they continue to thrive! read more
