Ok, first of all, there are a lot of little things that I'm going to pick at. however, none will keep me from returning. I am still waiting for a coffee refill. Not a big deal, I have water. My breakfast was served 10 minutes before the rest of my party. I waited a few moment, but eggs get cold fast so I ate those. Then waited for the rest. When the other dishes still hadn't arrived, I ate. My plate was finished by the time theirs got here. Then I waited another 10 minutes for my toast. When I went to butter my toast, it was frozen. Needless to say, not easy to spread. The other thing was that the tuna melt my daughter ordered did not mention green chilies, so she couldn't eat it. The menus sat on our table till the second round of food came. Dishes were never cleared. Waters were never refilled. all that being said, our waitress was lovely. The place was clean despite obvious remodeling in progress. The restrooms smelled amazing. And the food was overall good, slightly high priced for simple eggs and bacon, but good. Had breakfast here this morning and my chicken fried steak was really good and my eggs were cooked perfectly! Prices are reasonable but they seem like they get really busy during the morning rush so prepare to wait a bit for refills and your order. We really enjoyed our breakfast here. read more

First off, we were limited on restaurants open on a Monday. We finally found this one to be open and saw things we would eat from the menu. We were greeted and seated right away. I ordered the savoyarde omelette- the menu says no substitutions/ immune had bacon in it- at a different restaurant where you can sub- I would have asked no bacon, add mushrooms or avocado. But instead, I asked for bacon on the side to give to my meat eating hubby. The server said it was already diced up- we said that was fine in a ramekin so he could put it on his bacon waffle. This is not what happened- it came out a fat drippy bacon strip stuck into my cheese of my omelette... hubby grabbed it off quickly. I was so grossed out by this- normally I would want to send it back- but got the vibe if I had the kitchen might have done something undesirable to my meal... and it wasn't worth the hassle Hubby ordered the chicken fried steak and a side bacon waffle- he made his own chicken and waffles. Was my favorite bfast spot. The pavement scraper is now actually. The leftovers. It used to be a full on meal for 2 days of calories. My 9 yr old son could finish this meal. No flavour. I used to love this place but today's sad excuse for a breakfast is my last time, over easy eggs came over cooked French toast were the end pieces dry and burnt, my bacon was put in deep fryer and cooked so long it shattered like glass when I picked it up, my wife's chili R omelette was wet and soggy from way too much canned onions and tomatoes that weren't drained, her hash browns were burnt to a crisp on the outside and soggy inside and tasted like burnt bits off an unclean flat grill. Food was reasonably priced for how much food you receive, & the house coffee was super delish! He had the "Pavement Scraper." I was impressed by the lack of grease I saw on his plate, despite there being 4 meats, including chorizo. He said flavor was good, just hoped for a little salsa for more moisture. (However, the table did have Cholula or Tabasco, if desired.) For my Omelette Savoyarde, potatoes were thin-sliced, cooked beautifully, & complimented the gruyere. The bacon was also finely chopped with no major, fatty chunks, which I appreciated. I didnt realize since the omelet contained potatoes, I was also getting more potatoes on the side! However, no worries, as I took those home for leftovers because the omelet was plenty to fill me up. Overall, our experience was pleasant. read more

I, and a few other women (usually 4 or 5 total) from Reno, attend some of the concerts at TJ's Corral in Gardnerville and stay overnight. We have done this for several years and our regular breakfast place has always been Woodett's. We went this week and what a disappointment. The first thing everyone needed was a nice hot cup of coffee, and when we spotted the coffee cups on the table, we couldn't believe it. They're half the size - looks like a tea cup - and, really, looked like it would hold 6 ounces maximum, and $3.49. And the coffee was not hot. Don't you always want a good-sized sturdy coffee cup with hot coffee?! I swear I think the prices on everything had doubled - we're talking a lot of dishes almost $20. I ordered pancakes - got two large pancakes that looked good. Nope - they were tasteless and so rubbery/tough on the bottom that I couldn't cut them with a knife. There was only one waitress and she was great trying to keep up with the many customers, so I didn't send the pancakes back. I just scraped the top off of one of them. Bottom line - someone said Jerry's Grill has a great breakfast so we are headed there next month when we visit again. read more

Coffee was excellent! Some of the food however is a little off. One of the fried eggs was broke and my wife's tuna melt had lettuce in it. A tuna melt normally doesn't include that . Not sure if the cook is new and needs a little more experience. read more

Wow, this was bad. Years ago we went to Woody's in Carson City often and it was great. Woody, as I heard at the time started Woodett's for his wife when he retired and it also was great. We live 25 or so miles away so we have not been back in years. We will not be back now period. My wife and I each ordered biscuits and grave combo with two eggs and bacon. I wonder if they ever eat their own food. I thought they gave us soft English muffins under the gravy but my wife says they were some kind of biscuit but I don't care because they were bad. The gravy was a off white goo that had the texture and flavor of paste with like they use for paste in Kindergarten. It was some premix stuff which I assume you were to flavor with sausage or other meat but they did not. No amount of salt and pepper could fix it. My wife's eggs were served with one of the eggs broken and served hard we ordered over easy. The bacon was thick but lightly cooked. However their coffee was good and they may have other dishes that are better but color us gone. read more

A friend invited me to meet him at Woodett's Diner for breakfast a few days ago. I've been on this biscuits and gravy kick for about a month now and decided to order the biscuits and gravy. It was good. One biscuit was on the dry side but they gave me plenty of gravy to soak up the biscuits. The biscuits and gravy came with a side of eggs and two strips of bacon. It was good and filling. Even though I tried, I couldn't finish it all. My kid ordered off the kid's menu and got the pancakes. He really liked it. He always likes pancakes though. The place was clean and the service was excellent. The next time I'm in the area, I'll try something different. I've been told that their huevos rancheros was good. I was pretty nervous to try here after seeing some of the reviews, but there were also quite a few positive so figured I would give it a try. The service was kind, and the areas were all clean. I loved the vibe, & really wanted to love the food. Unfortunately, it fell short. The waitress (who again was very kind) took our order without writing anything down which I wouldn't think anything of it but something was wrong with both my husbands order and my own. My husband pointed out his and she was quick to fix the problem & apologetic. I didn't mention mine because she seemed busy and it wasn't a huge deal. (I ordered my French toast with the strawberries add on, it arrived with a blueberry compote.) It didn't take long for our order to be taken, but it did take quite a while for it to come out. People who were seated well after we ordered got their food first, so I'm unsure what happened but again, not a huge deal, we are on vacation so not in a rush. The French Toast was good. The sausage was terribly overcooked, not good at all, & the potatoes, although they had a good flavor, arrived cold. Gayle and I had to take Catticus in to the Vet yesterday, and as we were waiting to pick him up, it was still time for breakfast. Woodett's is on of the various "Mom and Pop" restaurants sprinkled throughout the Twin Cities (Minden and Gardnerville), and this place had been on our list to try. Working down our list takes time, as we don't really go out to eat all that often. The key reasons for that is we're happy to dine at home, and that everywhere outside of Genoa is a minimum of a 15-20 mile drive away. Anyway... Woodett's was a solid breakfast experience, which gave us a lot of tasty food for the money. Good coffee too. I had a breakfast sandwich (with bacon) which was ample enough that I skipped the pile of hash browns that came with it. Gayle enjoyed her delicious multi-ingredient Woodette's Skillet, which she couldn't finish, and not for the lack of trying. We found Woodett's interior is to be large, well lit, and homey. Our favorite seating is always a booth, which we enjoyed spreading out and settling in. Ambient noise level (even when busy) was conducive to private conversation. And our service was friendly and attentive. We'll surely be back again for breakfast or lunch. They also offer periodic Bistro dinners in the evenings. read more

We've been longtime customers at Woodett's and always enjoyed it in the past. Sadly, since the change in ownership, our experience has gone downhill. On our most recent visit, my husband ordered a hamburger but was first served an omelet by mistake. By the time his burger finally arrived, the rest of us had already finished eating. After a couple of bites, he discovered the patty was raw inside. When he sent it back, we were told they couldn't simply re-cook it and had to wait another 20 minutes for a new one. Meanwhile, my daughter's dessert never came, and after being there nearly two hours, we canceled it. To make matters worse, we were charged an additional $6 for the replacement burger--despite the first one being undercooked and unsafe to eat. I asked to speak with the manager/owner, but after waiting over 15 minutes (and another 5 after asking again), no one ever came out. We eventually gave up, paid the inflated bill, and left extremely disappointed. After years of being loyal customers, we won't be returning. read more

The biscuits and gravy were served warm, but on a cold plate. The only enjoyable part of the meal was the sausage, that was warm and tasty. The waitress was seldom seen, so I couldn't tell her. Accusing us of trying to get free food when Nobody took a single bite off of that plate. How's that trying to get free food? I just wanted it taken off the bill and not remade because I didn't want those line cooks sending anything else to my table. And you didn't even address the fact that my "French omelette" was like eating a shoe with cheese on it. It was completely browned on both sides when I opened it. They burned the eggs lady. Great casual friendly atmosphere, staff were attentive and professional. Food was made quickly and very flavorful. Their version of breakfast potatoes were thinly sliced and well seasoned. I ordered chicken apple sausage and eggs. They split the sausage down the center and placed it on the grill, delicious!! Menu offers traditional items and some with a Mexican flare. Tried the Chile relleno omelette, excellent! Our table was too close to a two top making it feel a bit awkward. That being said, we will return. read more

Having to change my review from 5 stars to 3. It's been awhile since we ate there. 3 things to mention on the new review. 1. we went in & i was looking forward to their salad bar. Only to find out they stopped doing the salad bar. I was told it was because not enough people ordered the salad bar. 2. Really disappointed they don't do the old corn beef hash they used to serve cooked with garlic oil. They now have the regular hash browns you serve at just about every breakfast joint. 3. Been here for over 30 years. Loved (can't emphasize this enough) the original Woodett's at the old location with the previous owners. After the move and new ownership its been all downhill and now dragging rock bottom. The old original menu, food quality, and quantity was amazing. Original amazing recipes have been modified and reduced to something unrecognizable and more notably inedible. The Hash for example, used to be sliced potatoes cooked to perfection with many options, a heaping portion a normal person could not fully consume in one sitting. New version, a small pile of burnt to a crisp out of the bag hash browns that was beyond disgusting and inedible. Who in their right mind would morph what was an undoubtably high margin masterpiece? I will submit that the scrambled eggs (now provided on the side) were average. All said and done, $50 of pure disappointment and dissatisfaction for two people looking for something mildly satisfying. I'm not going to even comment on the other persons order, I'm not writing a book. Summary, do way better, it's not really that difficult. The previous owners did it extremely well. Maybe reach out to them for some advice, bring them on as consultants and thrive. read more
