Food is very good! Ambiance is perfect! Service is amazing! Be prepared to spend at the least $100!

Flame used to be my go-to place if I wanted a nice steak dinner. Unfortunately, we won't be back for awhile. The service was so, so slow. I had made a reservation, and it still took over an hour for us to be seated. I understand our waiter was busy but he was pretty inattentive. I had ordered steak medallions, which came to me undercooked. I had taken a bite out of one of the pieces I cut off and told my server this. He sent it back and very quickly brought me back what had become beyond well-done and burnt meat, they threw all the same meat straight back on the grill, including a bitten off piece. The steak had become jerky. Our sides came to us at staggered times, one of them over 20 minutes after everything else was served, and came cold. It was just a mess and we were really disappointed. Nothing on our bill was comped, we still left a good tip, but jeez. What a mess. read more

We wanted a good steak and atmosphere. We found Flame online and decided to give it a try. One of the best steakhouses I have tried on vacation and we travel a lot. Been here mostly for drinks and apps, but I finally came for a proper dinner after another dinner event. This is probably one of the best if not the best steak house in the area. As much as I love my hole in the walls, the atmosphere matters for certain occasions. If you have a business dinner or you just want a steak, come here. They have a private event room for 10-100 people. This is also the same group that operates Black Sheep and Touch. I think Flame is probably the best of the bunch, different, but the best. Things to Note: 1) Service is impeccable. I have never not had someone not knowledgeable about drinks or food. 2) Downstairs (The Redroom/Happy Hour (4-6pm) is more casual) 3) Open Late or will say Open 4) From the KC Strip to the Filet Medallions, u come here for a steak 5) Pass on the Chicken or Fish or Oysters. It's not their Forte and the New Englander in me can't force myself to eat oysters outside of the Coasts. Although, the fried one is ok. I guess if you fry anything, it will work. 6) Wish their were more options on sides besides a potato and some basic steamed broccoli. 7) I really like the garbage salad with tenderloin - but they should change the name to make it more appetizing. When asking his advice on wine pairings with the steamed mussels I had a notion that he would suggest the Aria Chardonnay from Slovenia and his recommendation was spot on. Took my wife here for a special birthday meal. The bartender is one of the best I must say. The calamari appetizer was amazing. But the Delmonico steak I ordered was not what I expected from a high end steak house. With how they brag about their wet and dry aging process I expected the most tender and flavorful steak I've had in my life. I was wrong. I ordered medium and it was mostly rare, but in the low lighting I didn't catch it at the time. It was very tough, even resorting to using my wife's knife thinking the knife was the issue. I was not impressed by the flavor and seasoning either. A seasoning should only enhance the flavor of the steak, not cover it. The potato wasn't even warm enough to melt the butter. The wife's ribeye was a little better, and their cheddar jalapeño mashed potatoes were very good. The ambience was nice, but we probably won't dine here again. We will go to Texas Roadhouse for steak next time. read more

Not only are the entrees and ambiance perpetually on point, even oft-neglected side dishes are given superstar treatment within the walls of this establishment. There simply are no mundane or ill-prepared items on the menu, and although the cost of the meal will certainly reflect the chef's enthusiasm, the check will seem trivial compared to the transcendent, well-balanced flavors of the meal. And unlike many higher-end eateries, the portion sizes at Flame are all more than generous - to the extent that even my starving party of four took home to-go boxes filled with the parts of their meal they simply couldn't finish. I could go on, but mere words cannot hope to capture the wonder of dining here - it has to be experienced in person. I suggest doing so sooner than later. read more

Hosted a business dinner at Flame last night. The food is first rate, on par with what you'd expect for an upscale steakhouse. We opted to be seated in the downstairs bar, for a more casual environment. Our server, on her first nite solo, did a phenomenal job of keeping the glasses full and the service prompt. We did our best to rattle her with special requests, but she handled it all professionally and with a smile. I opted for the KC strip, with steamed broccoli on the side. The steak was scrumptious, cooked to medium rate perfection, 16 ounces of nicely marbled beef, butter tender, with a tasty char on the outside. Presentation is on a hot white plate, simplistic and elegant. Broccoli was served in a crock, steamed bright green, slightly crunchy and seasoned with lemon. An excellent accompaniment and a portion large enough for two. Because no dinner is complete without dessert, I had to try a slice of NY-style cheesecake. This was excellent (and house made). Smooth and creamy, with a granola crust, served with a raspberry sauce and topped with a fresh strawberry. A great end to a great meal. Dinner is expensive here, my tab was $100 including one glass of wine. Still, an excellent, upscale meal. Next time I'm in town, I'll be back! read more

You only need to know one thing. The BONE IN FILET. The first time I bit into it I literally laughed with delight. Not kidding. No food has ever had that effect on me. My son-in-law would leave no morsel untouched and actually picked up the steak with his hands to get the last of the meat off the bone when a fork and knife would no longer work. This is my favorite place to go for special occasions and we drive an hour...worth every penny for the quality of the food, the drinks, the atmosphere (trendy and fun but romantic), the service, never a disappointment. read more

Ordered the Caesar Salad and 8oz Filet. The salad was large enough to share, and the steak was aged, cooked to perfection, tender, and very delicious. Being a busy Friday evening, we were unable to make reservations in the main dining area. But downstairs in the Red Room Lounge, we were seated immediately with full menu service. This is as good as it gets in Springfield. By no means am I a wine connoisseur, but the Managing Director that insisted on visiting Flame was! He was thrilled with the wine selection, and he was able to find a pairing with just about everything on the menu. We started out with a few appetizers, and I would highly recommend the Maytag fries (for servings of 2 or more). They were crisp on the outside and served with a crumbled bacon and melted blue cheese on the side. For entrees, we ordered a Filet and Ribeye- both of which were delicious and ample quantity with a small side and/or salad. I treat myself to a nice dinner out and patronize local establishments when I have to travel away from my family for work. Flame was a treat for sure and a great way to spend my night solo. Wow, amazing.... the food and service was great!! I ordered the Salmon with asparagus and the brandy portobello mushrooms. Everything was cooked to perfection. My waiter, Jimmy made me feel special. You get what you pay for and it is money well spent. Do be ready to pay good money for good food. Oh, the atmosphere was aesthetically pleasing. Service was friendly and gracious. The food was delicious with generous portions. Had the 45 oz Tomahawk ribeye, smoked fries, Caesar salad and fried portobello mushrooms as an appetizer. Also creme brûlée for dessert. Fresh popover bread and cinnamon peach mini-muffins were served. My only complaint: we ordered the steak medium rare and it was well done at the outer parts, medium at the center. Didn't send it back because it was an $80 piece of prime ribeye and couldn't see it being wasted. My husband had a bit of work having to cut it off the long rib (at other steakhouses, our Tomahawk arrived already cut off the bone and sliced) However, it was very tender and flavorful. Just flew in from AZ starving and liking for something great. We found Flame on Yelp and took a chance! AMAZING! Our waiter, Jace couldn't have been nicer or more attentive. Our son & his wife got the rib eye and LOVED it. The rest of us got their Garbage and Wedge Salads with the filet mignon steak and ALL four of us definitely would do that again! We tried the cream spinach, broccoli and asparagus and all three didn't disappoint, but the cream spinach was huge favorite! We will definitely be hitting this place on the way back thru. If I could give it a zero I would. Went out to eat with friends. Ordered oysters. The only meaty thing on the oyster was its' foot. If your plan is to get a big hunk of meat it's the place for you, well, that is unless you have to go to the bathroom at any point in the nlght because the bathroom was frightening. The only good thing there was the Reisling and the service; the staff were polite and efficient. So much hype and such a disappointment. Our waitress was extremely accommodating and patient and took the time to explain everything we had questions about on the menu. Although I did ask for the biggest sized and most tender steak and was recommended one of the toughest and smallest ones I don't recommend the kc striploin especially if you like it medium well. The Delmonico was OUTSTANDING and super flavorful and tender, perfectly cooked to medium well. Smoked salmon and crab dip wasn't the greatest and the bread could've been crisper, as they were too soft to dip ,but the shrimp cakes were to die for! And I don't like shrimp also the rolls they serve are some of the best I've ever had, ask for honey!!! You won't regret it read more

Had a reservations for a Saturday night anniversary dinner and were seated in the Red Room. The red room is not very nice, has a sports bar feel, and felt dull. We were absolutely over dressed for this room and felt uncomfortable. Would be nice if a restaurant could at least have set a basic dress code. We'll not sit down there again. On a positive note our waitress, Allyissa, was great and very attentive. Food: shrimp cocktail was excellent, Belle Glos Pinot was fantastic, KC strip was slightly overdone, filet medallions were dry and overdone, twice baked potatoes were great, apple crisp was very good. All in all it was a very average meal with a poor atmosphere. Especially considering the premium price paid. read more
