Same location as El Rancho Steak House (back in the days) for those who know, plenty of parking & you cannot miss the huge billboard sign, they have because it's definitely visible from the street. Plenty of seating inside the restaurant for small to large parties. Workers are friendly from the time you walk in, get seated, taking your order & waiting for the food to arrive. Staff stays on it with the refills too & asking if you're OK or do you need anything? Food is at a decent price & your portions are pretty big, so unless you have a Huge Appetite, you for sure will be going home w/leftovers. This is a family owned establishment & the dishes they prepare show the love, so if your in the area or you've never been, Stop By & enjoy some good o'l home cooked meal that won't disappoint.

Big selection of menu options. Lots of people so kinda loud. The wait staff was really nice and attentive. The food portions were huge, we had to get half to go. The chilaquiles were okay.

The place was pretty packed but we were seated immediately and there was plenty of staff working. It's a pretty big open space. Everyone we encountered was friendly. They have a pretty big menu with lots of options to choose from. The food was really good. I do think my pancakes could have been cooked a little longer but it's ok. Prices seem fair for the amount of food we got. Overall it was a very good breakfast

I ordered the meat lovers omelette, which the menu listed as coming with cheddar cheese, but it was served with sliced American cheese instead. The hash browns were quite burnt, and the pancakes had a rubbery texture. On a positive note, the service was friendly and attentive. The seating is all tables (no booths), which made the space feel a bit less cozy, but that's more of a personal preference. Unfortunately, based on the food quality, I wouldn't return.

Food 5/5 Service 5/5 Ambiance 5/5 Finally tried this new upgrade location, it was initially the old Southern Kitchen down the road on Monterey Rd. I like this more modern design to the restaurant and looks very clean. Always love their huge menu options on a Sunday morning, no reservations needed. This place still makes the best breakfast in town. Must try the menudos. My usual was the steak eggs combo with Swedish pancakes, but I'm been on a healthier diet lately, so a salad tuna will do. Wish they have healthier options such as grilled fish over a salad etc...My partner ordered the country chicken steak combo, he loved it.

We rolled in for brunch around 2pm on a Saturday -- you know, that magical hour where it's still breakfast but also kind of lunch. The young staff greeted us and were super attentive and polite -- 10/10 for service! I ordered the chili verde omelette and let me tell you... the portion size said "You're hungry," My husband went with the pastrami sandwich and fries -- classic, simple... maybe too simple.

Jesus was the best server he even gave us complimentary clam chowder what a man! The restraint was clean and noise free and we loved the food. Will definitely be coming back and recommending the spot. Thank you

First time trying the place. Customers and servers were super sweet! Everyone have to swing by try this dishes. They have endless items. We saw a lot of folks ordering menudos and had to try it ourselves. It was delicious. Very flavorful and the trip was so tender. The breakfast classic was good too!

This is basically Southern Kitchen's new and better location with a slightly altered menu. Chicken Fried Steak tastes the same, which is a good thing!

Young man at the counter (who's name was not on the receipt) but was logged in as "Alice G" was super nice. Extremely fast and pretty efficient service. Dang, I forgot how HUGE these sandwiches are. I bought 5 for friends and not one of us finished. Guess we should have "split sandwiches". All 4 seemed to love their sandwiches, I had mixed feelings about mine "The Hunter Pence" which I requested clearly on Whole Wheat and dang it, it was on one of those Dutch Crunch Rolls which are very hard to eat "for me". It was a really "wet bun, sloppy" kind of sandwich, which made it a wee bit disgusting to eat. I "deconstructed" the rest of the sandwiches ingredients the next day into a whole other sandwich. Weird stringy fatty bacon though, which I ended up tossing. Lesson learned "for me" stick to a basic sandwich, nothing fancy and pray it really is on whole wheat bread. They are pricey - but - it's really 2 sandwich's in one unless the person is super hungry.

Originally I was looking to get pearls, but they didn't have any at the time. I asked the staff how the sweetness is, and he explained it tends to run on the sweeter side and grass jelly would add additional sweetness. I ended up going with 25% sweet. I think I could have gone to 50%, but it's fine. Regardless of the sweetness, the jasmine flavor was a bit off in taste for me in that it didn't have the floral quality that I was expecting. I'd say the grass jelly didn't add too much sweetness. I was also expecting the grass jelly to be the one that sinks to the bottom of the cup, but it was floating at the top, so initially when I was drinking it, I thought they had forgotten to add the grass jelly, but it was there. It was also cubed for ease of drinking. In addition to milk teas and teas, they do have Vietnamese coffee with different types of foam/cream toppings. It's cool they have the standard salt coffee, but also toppings such as ube, pandan, durian, egg. I had a Vietnamese coffee previously here, but I can't recall exactly how it was. They do also have some sweet pastry and some savory snack options. The shop was clean and spacious. It has some seating in here. It was pretty empty when we got here. They do have a happy hour 3-6 pm for two types of drinks (but all I remember is jasmine tea), in which the drinks are $4 each. Considering it seems most of their drinks land in the $6-$8 realm, this is a good deal. Service was very friendly and the staff member who helped me was informative. Overall, Cafes Quan is a solid option for tea and coffee.

I live close by but had no idea this place existed and I was there because of the new opening of the Asian supermarket. I ordered two plates. The banh hoi heo quay and the banh mi heo quay. Obviously it's all about the pork quality. -extremely fatty, like 80/20 fat/meat ratio. -it had no traditional heo quay flavor. -It tasted like they just threw it onto the flame without marination. -skin is crispy. -the pork itself is super tough and chewy. I'm sorry but I can't recommend this place with so many options in San Jose. I asked the lady next to me what she thought of her bowl of vit quay noodles.
